repeated dosapp.FON installation

Hello everyone.

A recent update (I was unable to update) for our network caused all computers running Windows XP (Professional) or Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard to prompt the user to insert the Windows XP pro CD or CD Server 2003 to install dosapp.fon. The normal course of action is to insert the CD and do with it. Unfortunately it does not solve the problem. After a few fights with him, I went as far to change the directory in which windows search by default. (as shown here, the context of the correction is different, but the idea is the same) and place the police file required in the C:\windows\i386 folder. Now the message always, but simply by pressing 'OK' will work. It's keep popping up the guests and reappear whenever a user logs out.

Hi studentech,

  • You run the computer in a domain environment?

Method 1

I suggest that you run the SFC scan on Windows XP-based computers which will search the system files corrupted on the computer and replace them.

The analysis may take some time, so be patient. Windows allows to fix corrupt or missing files it finds. If the information of the installation CD is required to fix the problem, you may be asked to insert your Windows XP installation CD.

Method 2

If the previous step fails then I suggest that you perform the upgrade installation on place of Windows XP on the computer.

An upgrade on the spot is also called a repair installation. This operation reinstalls Windows XP to the same folder on your computer where it was originally installed. You can run an upgrade on the spot if your installation of Windows XP must be repaired

  • Vista SP2 update causing CompactFlash new hardware detection repeated even after installation of the driver

I have a footstool of m8100n HP Pavilion Windows Vista Home Premium.  Since the Vista SP2 which was installed yesterday through the update of Windows, my PC guard detection of new hardware when I registered.  The application popup never ask again once, ask later, or update/search recommended for software to install what is recommended.  After selecting the option recommended and install the software that it finds, I get a popup about CompactFlash is now detected and ready to use material.  After this exercise, looks all right.  However, every time I connect as administrator or standard user on my Windows Vista computer passes through the detection of the same material and the update.  He should not have to repeat this after installation and update of itself for the new hardware.  What is the cause and Microsoft is aware of this problem?

I worked with HP on the problem.  It wasn't a problem of driver from the manufacturer because it had no software update HP.  The integrated CompactFlash drive location doesn't have a drive letter assigned.  Do not understand why that would be a problem because on the removable media drive letters are assigned dynamically when you insert a card or a player.  Records didn't have drive letters when running on SP1 and it wasn't and issues then.  This seems to have become a requirement for SP2.

The fix was to go in Windows disk management and pre assign drive letters to the disks 1 to 4 that are for CompactFlash removable media, MS/MS-Pro, SD/MMC and SM/xD-Picture on my HP m8100n PC.  Once this has been done and that Windows detects new hardware because of the SP2 update drivers, it installs successfully and is no longer repeat the detection/installation process.

  • KB2572073 security update is to repeatedly download and installation

    Hello
KB2572073 security update is to repeatedly download and installation. When I check on Windows Update reports installed successfully. How can I fix it?

    Hello
Thanks a lot for your answer. I followed the actions in the link provided, but the problem persisted. To fix it I had to remove the .NET Framework and then reinstall it by using the following procedure. That solved my problem.

Thank you very much for your help.

Step 1: Remove the .NET Framework using the removal tool

    ================================

    1. download the tool from the following link:

    http://CID-27e6a35d1a492af7.SkyDrive.live.com/self.aspx/Blog_Tools/dotnetfx_cleanup_tool.zip

    2. save the zip (dotnetfx_cleanup_tool.zip) file from the link above on the local desktop and extract it.

    3. double-click on cleanup_tool.exe to run the tool.

    4. follow the instructions given.

In the "cleaning product:", please select ".NET Framework - all versions.

    5. click on 'clearing '.

    6. restart the computer.

Note: Once we have removed the .NET Framework, some applications that have need of .NET Framework runtime database could lose their functions. It's just a temporary problem. The function will return to normal after the reinstallation of .NET Framework.

After completing these steps, please go to the following suggestions to reinstall .NET Framework 1.1 and its updates.

Step 2: Install the .NET Framework 1.1 and its updates

  • Repeated supply and installation of a security update for Microsoft XML Core Services 4.0 Service Pack 2 for x 64-based systems (KB954430)... WINDOWS 7

OK brand new windows 7 home premium desktop did yesterday, all the running back usual disks etc. and update, but I was offered and installed the update above about 10 times. How can I fix this, have tried searching and I find Vista responds ok but not for Windows 7.

Quick update, the fix above certainly did not in the present case even if this has worked for me in the past on other machines.

Im going to say I think I cured problem for now in any case.

How I did it is I went into microsoft downloads and downloaded the update kb954430 and recorded on my machine. I then ran this update and instead of installing it, I used the option to remove the update, which came in the installer. Reebooted machine then let windows automatically download and install the update even I had just removed and it seems to have installed correctly this time I get is more asked to install it again.

Thanks for the help Supreth, well aware that this is a common problem and I didn't know the fix for XP and vista, but guess I was just not the confidence to try it in windows 7 on my nice new shiny machine. Although your method did not work for me this time the link you provided of course lead me on the correct path to a better understanding of why this has happened. GREATLY APPRECIATED

  • Windows XP, SQL Server 2005 Express Service Pack 4 (KB2463332) repeats every day installation

I have Windows XP, the value of the automatic updates.  EVERY DAY and sometimes more than once a day, I said that I have to install 2005 Express Edition Service Pack 4 (KB2463332).  I install, and again the next day I'll be told to install it again.  Help!

    Hello

Try the steps listed in the link below and check if this may help: how to troubleshoot Windows Update or Microsoft Update when you are repeatedly offered an update: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/910339

  • Automatic updates has attempted to install KB963707 repeatedly, preventing the installation of SP1.

Laptop with Vista Home Premium 32-bit tries to install KB963707 again and again and more, preventing the installation of SP1. Although SP1 is completely and correctly installed, it states that it has not installed and back.

Have you tried disabling the automatic updates, and then install service packs?
A practice that I had in XP when the reinstallation of the operating system was to disable the automatic updates, wait until I had installed all service packs, then turn it back on.

    To disable automatic updates
    GoTo Start-> Control Panel
    Click on "Classic view".
Click on "windows update", which is usually towards the end
    Click on "change settings".

under "major updates" choose one of the last two options. Is the "check for updates but let me choose whether to install" or "never check the updates. It does not matter because we will change things back that upgrading to SP2.

  • "Adobe Creative Cloud has stopped working" (repeated preventing crash installs)

I spent a few days trying to correct an error "Creative Cloud Desktop has stopped working". This happens regularly, without apparently being asked by what anyone. I uninstalled it, rebooted, run the creative cloud cleaner several times, but the error pops up again.

I had to buy the full range of CC, but it is impossible to install the apps I need because of the Cloud Desktop designer crashing this way during installation. I managed to install a smaller application than I need (SpeedGrade CC) as test - simply, I suppose, because it was small enough to install before the error occurred.

I am running Windows 8.1 (64-bit) and that you have disabled my firewall and anti-virus for these procedures.

The error code is always the same:

It is important that I get this resolved as soon as possible.

    Thank you.

I'm just that here, because I would have been happy information myself, so...

After a day or two with the help of Adobe, an excellent colleague among personnel did the trick: all the things you can expect by uninstalls and CC Cleaner, but also delete every single folder named "adobe", and there are many of them. Then another own final check, reboot and reinstall. This corrected the situation, finally.

As a long term user (since the days of Macromedia Flash 4, etc.) there was something stacked up there which was causing the gradual expansion of the use of the memory of Adobe desktop Services and a full smoothing data Adobe was the only way to go.

  • KB977185 & KB981852 security update repeated successful Installation loop / KB954430 & KB973688 failure

After weeks of searching, I finally decided to seek professional help here... As an important aside, the resolution of this problem is necessary for me to install iTunes (10.0.1) which systematically fails "dissemination of product information. Based on my research online, this problem is rooted in problems with Windows Update. Which brings me to my question...

    (1) KB977185 & KB981852 security updated repeat successful loop Installation

KB977185 and KB 981852 updates (both "Security Update for Windows 7") "installed successfully" by Windows Update of dozens of times since the 20/08/2010, always as a pair.

    (2) KB954430 & KB973688 failure

KB954430 ("day of security for Microsoft XML Core Services 4.0 Service Pack 2") and KB973688 ("update for Microsoft XML Core Services 4.0 Service Pack 2") attempted to be installed by Windows Update and not the dozens of times since 08/19/2010. Strangely, it seems Windows Update gave since 26/08/2010, because the most recent entry 'Fail' and Windows Update did not try to download and install since then.

This whole ordeal has been extremely frustrating. Can someone please?

I read the article on this issue.  I downloaded the update and tried to install manually, but that has not worked.  The info said the press ignore, but I do not understand this option. The only option is an OK button how the installation rolls back.

I tried to update the windows update component using the "fixit" microsoft program, but I get the same error:

I tried to uninstall the MSXML4 file by going to the Remove programs in the Control Panel, but it says there is no update on the computer.  Probably wiped out by one of the 'Cleaners' PC, I used (ccleaner and others).  Other than this problem, the machine IS updated and all other updates were installed successfully.

Also tried it with the firewall and antivirus disabled.

It is a machine age of six week Windows 7 64.

    Any help is very appreciated!

    Thank you!!

Well, the System File Checker would not run so it became obvious I had to reinstall windows.  Since I'm pretty good with my image backups, I rolled the system back to a few days before the first failure, updates.

Long story short - everything is working now and the updates installed without a hitch.  All updates now show in Add/Remove, so all is good!   Good backup saved my butt several times over the years!

Thanks for all the help!  Much appreciated!

  • error 0 x 80040705 occurred during the installation of windows essentials.what to do?

error 0 x 80040705 is produced during the installation of windows essentials.what do? Help me please.

    Hello

Thank you for contacting Microsoft Answers.

This error is caused by a lack of installation of DirectX. Usually some DX files are already installed, but Setup cannot overwrite them. In my case, some of the files in \windows\SystemWOW64 have been accidentally encrypted, and the Setup program does not overwrite them. I had to manually delete these files for the Setup program to succeed. The cause may be different for you, but following these steps should help to understand which files DX are the cause of the problem.
    1. Install DirectX User Runtimes (refreshed June 2010) of http://www.microsoft.com/download/en...ang=en&id=8109
You will be asked to choose the directory to put the files extracted from the cabin.

    2. run dxsetup.exe from the directory in step 1.

    3. installation failure will probably happen. Look at \Windows\Logs\DXError.log and find the report. INF in the error log file.
    For example:
    [13/07/11 20:36:35] module: dxupdate (Mar 30 2011), file: dxupdate.cpp, line: 2056, function: ExecuteInf
    Has no API: SetupInstallFromInfSection()
Error: (5) - access is denied.
Cannot install C:\Users\Foo\AppData\Local\Temp\DXA1BC.tmp\d3dx9_31_x86.inf: [x64_install]. The file is possibly corrupted.

    4. the INF files are files of configuration information, which are used to install the files listed in these. In this example, d3dx9_31_x86.inf is the. INF file. First, try to determine the. DLL file installed with this INF using the name of the INF file and look for a DLL with a name similar to \windows\systemwow64, if you are using 64-bit Windows, in \windows\system32, if you are using 32-bit Windows. In many cases, the name of the INF should tell you what DLL it installs, as shown in the examples below:

    xinput1_3_x86.inf
    install xinput1_3.dll
    d3dx9_33_x86.inf
    installs d3dx9_33.dll
    d3dx9_31_x86.inf
install d3dx9_31.dllif you can't say the name that installs DLL has failed, you will need to watch the CAB file. See \Windows\Logs\DirectX.log to determine what CAB file has been processed before the error. Go to the directory you have chosen in step 1, and then open this CAB file in Explorer file by double clicking it. That will open a window of the Explorer showing the files in the cabin, including a file INF open the INF file, by right-clicking on the file and choosing extractin the menu contextual. The INF file has entries indicating that it installs the DLL as follows:

    [DirectX_System]
    D3dx9_38.dll [DirectX_SysWOW64]
    D3dx9_38.dll
    5. the likely installation failed because this DLL could not be replaced by the installation program. Find out why it could not be crushed and delete it manually from \windows\systemwow64 or \windows\system32.

    6. go to step 2 and repeat until the installation is successful.

    See you soon.
