Repetitive requests for password

I use AOL mail. Thunderbird has recently begun repeatedly asking for passwords, even if they are registered. Sometimes clicking on try again or x'ing out seems to let go of the front. I go to pop IMAP so don't know if that's part of the problem. It happens randomly and especially if I select a saved folder. I even deleted Thunderbird and related files appdata and did a new download to reinstall. The problem still occurs. I experienced it with my laptop so I think it's a problem of Thunderbird, but must cease to use Thunderbird if it continues. Wouldn't do that I have used the program for years and have really enjoyed.

I think I solved the problem. I started to think that if the retry might work after a while then Thunderbird was perhaps not allowing enough time for AOL to connect and answer. I opened the configuration manager and looked for a timeout entered and found that mail Server timeouts have been all set to 29. I doubled all 60 and Thunderbird seems today is behaving properly.

As this is a recent problem, I don't know if the response time of AOL has slowed or if a recent update to Thunderbird changed the default value of AOL. Anyway, I think that the answer so for Mozilla increase the default time-out for AOL e-mail.

Thank you for the reply christ1. It does not solve the problem, but it did get me thinking about the question of speed between Thunderbird and AOL and this led me to the solution.

  • Request for BIOS password after trying to wipe the hard drive?

Hi - I got a new computer and tried to erase the hard drive on my old Toshiba laptop for sale on. It is a Toshiba A-210 and is about three years old.

I put the "settings factory restore disk" and tried to follow the instructions on the CD cover. However, the instructions don't match the options given, I did something where I thought I was wiping the HARD drive. It seemed to go ok, but when I tried to start it again, it loads a black screen type "MS-DOS" asking for a password.

The password only I put up on the computer was for my user profile, and it's not accept that. If I try to go on without the password, the computer turns off.

I tried Googling and it could be a BIOS password, I think, but I've never been one of these. The only suggestions I could find for fixing involved by pressing one of the buttons "F" and move to Windows, but I can't get an answer using the 'F' keys On the Toshiba site it said that I needed to have it fixed by one of their authorized places, but I don't want to spend money on it, because I was trying only to erase the hard drive before trying to sell it on or scrapping it.

Does anyone have any suggestions? My hard drive was erased? There is nothing really confidential there, but I like it as clear as possible, I really don't mind if its working, I would consider it breaks to pieces.

    Hello Katy

After reading your thread I don't understand what you've done to lock your computer.
Still is it BIOS password cannot be set by mistake.

When the BIOS password to settle should be written twice before, it will be activated.

What to do now? Is that the BIOS password can be deleted by a combination of keys or something simple. BIOS password is the most important safety feature and must offer the maximum protection of the BIOS.
You can sell your laptop without HARD drive too. On eBay, I saw many laptops that will be offered without HARD drive for data protection reasons. HARD drive can be exchanged for less money and it is not so important hardware component.

In the history I see a problem only: BIOS password. You can offer a little cheaper laptop and the new owner can pay for password removal.

It is not easy to give you the right answer. I just want to be a little more realistic.

  • Discoverer 11.1.1.7.0 against 12.1.3 with OAM 11.1.2 EBS to request the password for the user with Ondaaah

    Hello

Oracle has not been able to help me to do this job; 2 open of SR for weeks and no good answer.  They referred me to the people of onlinappsdba and various other public Internet sites.  We run EBS 12.1.3 and Disco 11.1.1.7.0 with 10g SSO and Ondaaah and SSL.  That works very well, users, identity is established through Ondaaah on our corporate network, with zero sign - on.  I'm replacing 10gSSO by OAM 11.1.2.  OAM/OID works very well for EBS and OBIEE, always zero sign - on with the OID 11.1.1.7.0 and AccessGate piece (and a webgate for both).  (Too many servers to SSO support in my view, if something goes wrong, too many places to look.)  For Disco, I created the osso.conf in OAM 11.1.2 installed in a folder on the Disco and bounced of Disco.  This works OK if in OAM authentication method is based authentication forms, with OAM inviting the user to signon, OID and then passes the user name and password through the OID in Active Directory, and connect on Disco invites to indicate the user name, and then gives access to workbooks.  No prompt for password clubbing.  But when I try to activate Ondaaah as an authentication method in the OAM, discoverer invite first the "Oracle Applications" connection for a user name and the EUL.  But Disco then prompts the user a password, that no longer exists in fnd_user. because authentication is external.  Connections fail.  I am also unable to create a private connection; This dialog box Disco also invites a user password.  At the login page of Disco, the user session went to OAM and fact authentication successful via Ondaaah.  I can tell from follow-up to the session through Fiddler.  Transmitted to the disco but Disco missing something and password prompts.  Support OAM at Oracle seems to think that OAM is not send the cookie to Discoverer, although I'm not sure.

First of all, Ondaaah with Disco should work with OAM, right?  Any thoughts on what might be missing?  I went through the MOS notes a few times, closely followed the tutorial onlinappsdba on it.

    Thank you very much.

    Tom

The hotfix is described in Note 1616228.1 problem with mod_osso and custom authentication plugins.  Disco can work very well, with zero sign - we and OAM.

  • Requests for repeated e-mail sign-in

One time, I started to receive applications of password to connect to multiple e-mail accounts at the opening of my MBA.  The accounts range from gmail, aol and outlook.  I never forget a password request for my iCloud email account.

Any way to prevent this?  It is becoming a bit boring.

    Hi blueeos,

I understand that you get some guests for accounts on your computer. I know it's important to have your MacBook Air to work effectively so that you can continue to receive e-mails, so I'm happy to provide advice to help with this.

One of the most common causes for this would be a change to the password of these accounts. If you have made changes to your accounts, open System Preferences > Internet accounts or Mail > Preferences > accounts and ensure you enter your changed password.

If these requests are from your keychain, you can also check the information presented here:

If your Mac keeps asking for the password to keychain - Apple Support

  • Pirate computer now to request a password

Compaq model: Presario CQ5300F, Windows 7

A customer has backed up to the telephone conversation with the strong Indian accent, supposedly from Microsoft, telling him that his computer has problems and released control of his computer for hackers.

It doesn't have the recovery disks.

When Windows starts, a window of old-fashion - looks like XP or 98 or 95 - opens requesting a password.

You use Ubuntu, I was able to back up its files.

The recovery partition is present, I do not know in what form.

The customer is willing to let the computer reset to factory settings.

When I press F11 after turning on the computer, instead of bring the Recovery Manager, she prays for the discs, that I did not.

Go to the "restoring at last known Configuration" goes back to the same page by pressing F11

The BIOS seems functional and password is not defined.

    Suggestions for

    1. Access to the Recovery Manager

    2. Using Ubuntu find the routine that asks for the password and disable

    3. Or?

Note: I will seek in "how to install Windows 7 without the disc" However more faster/easier solutions would be greatly appreciated.
