Replace drive HARD laptop HP bf69WM 2000

Hello

I recently acquired the dead laptop HP 2000 model bf69WM with a hard drive (error in the log of BIOS: 03F0). I studied a replacement and found gaps in the Service Guide. He says that the supported drive has an RPM of 5400 in section 7200 in another. The drive 5400 RPM is 9.5 mm. The 7200 disk is 7mm. The HARD death drive is a Toshiba 320 GB model MQ01ABD032.

If I replace with another Toshiba 5400 RPM, 9.5 mm drive all should be well, (I assume apples to apples). If I replace it with the 7200 RPM drive 7 mm: has) the highest ROTATION speed will cause more heat and perhaps premature? (b) will it be should I buy another drive Assembly to support the drive of 7 mm?

I'm looking to a Western Digital drive. In addition, this particular model does not support larger capacity drives or SSD?

Thanks in advance for any information.

Is a license for your laptop to Windows 7 or Windows 8? Can't help much with Windows 8, but if you have Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit here is a link to an .iso that is a legal copy of the operating system that you are naked.

http://MSFT.digitalrivercontent.NET/win/X17-58997.ISO

This will work only if your laptop came with Windows 7 installed. If it is Windows 8, you will have recovery media order of HP.

Now, the SSD has a thickness of 7mm.

    Hello

The old HDD on your machine is a little thicker, but at least 4 screws I do not think that new SSD will circulate in the case. I have actually put new SSD in one of my laptop (not HP) and no problem, BUT I don't move this laptop. If so, blue tac can help.

  • Replace drive hard ze4900 with disk 5400 RPM?

I am trying to replace the HARD drive on a ze4904US Pavilion Notebook, Phoenix BIOS F.15...  The original drive is a 40 GB 4200 RPM ATA drive.  I found a 5400 RPM 40 GB ATA HDD, rider that he is a slave, installed, but it is not editing as C:.  This laptop does support the 5400 RPM drives?  Should he be attached as master or slave?

I can boot from the CD of the OS, which displays the C:\ > and complains that the path is bad.  Try to install Windows XP immediately fails with an IO error.

If I start the recovery console, WFP, I can see the partition (\device\harddisk0\partition1), but it is not a drive letter assigned.

If I drop in the BIOS, run the HARD drive test, it displays 'Diagnostics not supported' and 'Device No. IDE'

The drive 5400 RPM came a Win Vista laptop and was initially cavalier as master.  If I leave it set as master boot, a CD of SystemSuite, he gripes 2-4 e/s, (ignored) errors, takes about 10 minutes to pass the time-outs of the IO error, but finally sees the old partition on Win Vista.  So I know that the equipment is in place OK.  Trying to do a trivial co-operation (volume set name) fails.

I would like to reformat the drive and start with a file system clean, but format C:/FS: NTFS, fails with "drive not valid or not drive."

I think I can build a bootable CD to update to e.16, the HP BIOS later.  That would support the drive 5400 RPM?

Fixed! Found a Hitachi Travelstar 60 GB HDD, 7200 RPM, IDE interface, was attached to CSEL, inserted in the HP Pavilion ze4904us, put under tension and it worked like a charm.  The car was seen by the BIOS/advanced/HDD/Diag and it test very well, at least through quick check of phase 1, then I released on bail.  Under BIOS/Palestinian territories occupied? / BootOrder the drive is detected correctly (displays the correct model ID).  Installed WinXP and on my way.

I used the HP WinXP SP2 original installation CD.  Does not all of the HW (WLAN, VGA), video drivers.  Subsequently found most of these on the HP/Support/downloads page.  Lack yet the program Program Files/utility/One-Touch to change the definition of the buttons easy One-Touch access at the top of the keyboard, but the work of bindings by default OK.

  • replace drive hard kaput?

When my computer was unable to reboot and chkdsk and the following disk repair utility would not work, I paid to have the laptop looked at by a pro. It turns out that the HARD drive has failed. So the question is: can I replace the drive hard when all I have to work with are the recovery disks that I made when the computer is new? (Door NV57H) The OEM of Windows 7 will be on these discs, which allows installation pretty simple hard drive and recovery? Can I go with a SSD? As a smart enough DYIer with some knowledge of computers, but limited reparations experience can handle such a task?

SSD become cheaper these days for sure

They may fail, as any player, as you've seen personally.

System images are the best way to retrieve install lost hdd or ssd, but they must be on other devices / hdd before they are viable

But Yes if the recovery cd creation took place all you have to do is install a new drive and the boot CD #1

My question is this; is there a manual or a guide on how to, 1. physically, replace the hard drive and 2. record information that may exist on my hard drive crashed? Thank you in advance for your help!

    Hello:

There are many models of dm3.

I pulled a repair of the dm3-2000 series. I hope that this layout is the same.

Read Chapter 4 of the procedure on the removal and replacement of the hard disk. Do not throw the old hard drive.

You will need to the caddy, the connector and screw to transfer to the new.

    http://bizsupport1.Austin.HP.com/BC/docs/support/SupportManual/c01893277/c01893277.PDF

Before you remove the hard drive, you can see if you can copy your files on a USB portable hard drive by downloading, burn it to a CD (using the ISO burning method) and make a the Kapersky rescue CD bootable CD. This will allow you to see the folders on your C:\ drive using the method of the graphical interface of the program execution.

Then you can copy and paste your files on your portable hard drive.

If the rescue CD can not see your hard drive, there's probably nothing you can do anything to the drive for recovery.

  • Laptop HP 15 (r063tu): would replace drive HARD regular with SSD boost speed & performance significantly on my HP 15 laptop?

    Hello

Regular HGST (Hitachi) hard drive failed on my HP 15 laptop and I chose to replace it with a spare Seagate Momentus 500 GB HDD (because of the emergency). I read in some other posts on this forum that SSDs increase startup speed and general performance much more conventional hard drives. In addition, seems SSD uses less power and generates less heat, which is optimal for laptop computers. Although SSDS are still quite expensive compared to regular hard drives (a regular 500 Gb portable HDD costs about Rs. 3500, or about $50), all in an SSD with a capacity of 240 GB Samsung / available on Amazon.in Kingston costs about Rs. 5000 (about $70). Thus, a half of the capacity of a normal HARD drive SSD hard drive costs still much more

Would consider to replace my current HARD drive with an SSD if it's worth the investment (I intend to use this laptop for more than two years).

Also, please confirm if my model supports SSDS, as he has probably that one Bay to hold an SSD or a normal HARD drive. Would be useful you can offer a good/model mark of SSDS as well. Thank you very much.

    See you soon!

I support the opinion of Hüffer about SSDS and laptops.

I replaced the spinner in my laptop HP 2011 with an SSD and it's like having a new machine.  It starts instantly and runs a lot faster, more I don't have to worry about the rotation drive going bad.

An SSD is the best investment to improve the performance of your laptop.

    Hi all

Wanting just a few tips on how to migrate and replace the system drive without having to reinstall everything again.

The HARD drive, I would like to replace a the following Partitions:

    400 MB (Recover Parition)

    260MO (EFI Partition)

    904 GB (drive c :) - NTFS)

    350 MB (recover Partition)

25.5 GB (drive D: Recover - NTFS drive)

According to the Samsung User Guide data Migration tool, he mentions the following:

    http://www.Samsung.com/us/support/owners/product/MZ-7TE1T0BW

6 recovery OEM partitions, at the plant by computer makers, cannot be replicated. However, if the PC is manufactured by Samsung and SRS (Samsung Recovery Solution) 5 or 6 is installed, the recovery partition is automatically cloned. (Not supported in versions prior to SRS 5)

How can I migrate all recovery OEM as well as partitions C: and D: partitions?

If you burn the recovery DVD, you don't need the recovery partition... they hold the same data. I try the clone on the new drive and see if it works. If it isn't then you still have the original drive and nothing has been lost. Reported problems with the migration of Samsung software. Personally, I use Acronis True Image Home for cloning, and it is not.

  • Need to replace drive HARD for my A205-s4777

I have a Satellite A205-s4777 since September last year and to restore once every 6 weeks from a boot disk.

Now, I discovered that the hard drive is faulty and I am trying to do a reset from the recovery disk until I can get a new hard drive. Any suggestions?

Also a brand new other that Toshiba will work ok in it or it will be a problem to try to do a reset. The Toshiba, one is still under warranty and I recorded it on the Toshiba registration site.

They will be able to send a new I am working abroad?

As I know you can use hard drives from different manufacturers, but you must use the right one. In your case, I think it should be SATA HDD.

What replacement? The best thing you can do is to contact the authorized service provider in the country where you bought your laptop. Explain the situation and they can offer you information on send them in other countries.

  • Replacement drive for laptop HP 650

    Hello

I receive a SMART HARD drive failure notice. I backed up the HARD drive. I need to know what kind of car I can replace the original ATA Hitachi HTS54323 SCSI with?

FOR EXAMPLE can I replace it with a SATA drive?

Or should I stay with a SCSI drive?

Probably stick to a scsi drive would be the easiest option.

All the opinions received with gratitude.

    Thank you

    Stuart

    Hello:

Your laptop uses a sata II hard drive.  See page 5 of the quickspecs at the link below.

The description of SCSI, it's just how Windows is report.

    http://h18004.www1.HP.com/products/QuickSpecs/14289_div/14289_div.PDF

See the manual on the link below, Chapter 4 for R & R procedures.

    http://h20628.www2.HP.com/km-ext/kmcsdirect/emr_na-c03310281-1.PDF

You can probably install a sata III hard drive to improve performance and you may want to get a drive of 7 200 RPM instead of the disk 5 400 rpm.  You can see a slight decrease in the battery life between charges, but the best performance would be worth, IMO.

  • Need to replace drive HARD for Satellite 2450

My hard drive is about to die and I can't find a replacement/Exchange. Does anyone know how? References to this topic are 000601002 TOSHIBA 03152 S. Toshiba support said they dropped the product.

    Hello

You n t need to buy especially this HARD drive device. You can buy a new one that supports the same old properties HDD Splendido.

To my knowledge the 2450 Sat supports an enhanced IDE (ATA-5) interface. In this case, you can buy the HDD IDE.

Please have a look also to the size of the HARD drive sometimes the BIOS could not recognize the HARD drive because of the limitation of the size.

What size did you use? 40 GB? In my eyes, you can use a HARD drive between 20 and 60 GB.
