possible second hard drive on the Satellite A200 1iW?

    Hello

Not all models of laptops A200 supports the second HDD.
If you want you can find very easily if your laptop supports this second HDD.

At the bottom of the device, you can find the second HARD drive Bay. Remove the cover that protects the Bay and check if there is some HARD drive connectors.

If not, then the second HDD is not possible

Any help would be appreciated... Gateway is only interested to collect money.  They have no interest in serving the poor suckers who buy their products (computer is 2 years old so it is out of warranty).

    Thanks for the reply.

Fortunately, I solved the problem myself (after 19 hours of stress).
The problem is that the recent hard disk has something different that no longer ages and makes pre-service pack 1 (SP1 solves the problem) versions of Windows 7 incompatible. My set of recovery disks have been created the day I bought the computer, which had no windows updates installed at the time.

There is an "easy solution" on the Microsoft support site: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2466753/en-us

Unfortunately, their method works only if you have a Windows 7 installation disc, which does most of the people who buy computers pre-built manufacturers. Essentially, the solution is to install SP1 from a disc when don't give you the possibility to load drivers during installation, an option that the gateway recovery disks.

So I thought that, theoretically, if I use my recovery discs to get a clean install on a hard drive that works, then use windows update to get updated (or at least to get SP1), and then make a set of NEW recovery disks (using windows backup: start > all programs > maintenance > Backup and Restore), I should be able to use these discs to install the new hard disk.

    It worked.

So for someone else who has this same problem with new hard disks, I hope that the above is easy to understand. If not, ask someone else more savvy and show them this thread. Do not forget that at the end to create new recovery disks, it will ask you if you also want to create a 'system' repair disc. DO THIS! This is the disk that you need to start from when you are ready to install.

Also: If your new hard drive is bigger than the one that you have created the new recovery disks, the partition on your new hard drive (once everything is installed) will be the same size as the one that you have created the records on. You will need to use a kind of editor of score for re - size. I recommend Gnome Partition Editor. http://www.gparted.org

Burn gparted Live CD and him, resize your partition, and you're done (google for more in-depth instructions).

Thank you, theloungelizardK, for the offer on the ISO, but I don't need. :)

  • How to check if the 2nd HARD drive is possible on the Satellite Pro A200 PSAE7?

    Hello

My A200/PSAE7 has a 200 GB HARD drive. For backup reasons, I would like to know - or learn to know how check - if my A200 already have the hardware support for a 2nd HARD drive, next to the slot for a 2nd HARD drive.
In the BIOS, I see 'Toshiba MKxxx - hard drive' and 'hard drive - None '. Is the last entry in the BIOS is a sign that a 2nd HARD drive is supported and has to be put in the second location of HARD drive?

Thanks in advance for any answer!

    Best regards
    Andreas

    You can do the following:

Open the cover when the 2nd drive HARD so-called must be installed and check for some SATA connectors or cables. If there is an unused SATA connection so you can upgrade, if no, then you will need to backup your data on USB - HDD or whatever.

If in the BIOS is something now, he won't say that he is physically present.

  • What HARD drive can I install the Satellite Pro 2100?

I installed a second hand Toshiba 40 GB HDD in my Pro 2100, but he fails to recognize in the BIOS. Any ideas?

Yes, I have an idea ;)
Have you checked if the HARD disk is not corrupted?
I think it's a first step to find out what's wrong.

If you are sure that the drive is 100% damage not so in my opinion him BIOS is unable to manage the size of the HARD drive. It s just too big size.
The BIOS supports multiple disk sizes but if HARD drive it too big the BIOS may not be able to recognize the HARD drive.

  • Replace hard drive with any of the recovery discs...

I have a Dell inspiron I5 3521 with widows 8.0. My hard drive has failed recently, and I stupidly did not have any backups previously. I tried to make one when I realized my hard drive was damaged, but I think the hard drive froze in the middle to catch her on the back. So I ordered a new hard drive online half. The original was 500GBP. New is 250. Now under the protection of Dell and restoring it freezes at 11 percent any action I take is to say system reset/factory reset to factory condition. Out of options. Out of my mind. Help, please. Friendly firs DIY attempt, geek team wanted $ 300 of ish to do this. Even with the problems I have, I still think it's a feature.

How to get a CD restore partition?

    xxxChrispyxxx

Dell does not provide a "recovery partition CD", they send only DVDs reinstallation of the operating system that was installed at the factory.

If you are a resident of the United States and are the registered owner of the computer, a disk that contains the operating system specific to your system factory installed can be requested HERE.

Note: Dell will charge for the disc, if there is no warranty

If you do not live in the United States, contact the Dell Technical Support which is in your country.

  • This replacement of hard drives are supported by the Satellite P30?

    Hello
My P30 came with a HARD disk that rotates at 4500 rpm of 80 GB. I really need a floppy that can write and access data fast enough for video editing (rendered) and multi track audio recording.

Are there alternative products that can improve the performance of my computer? I have already ordered 2 GB of RAM.
Would a Hitachi Travelstar 7K 100 works with my device?

I guess you mean the Hitachi Travelstar 7K 100 100 GB drive HARD 7200 RPM 8 MB cache 2, drive HARD 5Zoll.
I think you can use the HARD disk with the following properties:

    hard drive 9.5 mm with capacity 30 GB/40 GB/60 GB / 80 / 100GB / 120GB
    Bus Master IDE
    Support 100 synchronous DMA Ultra

Disk HARD 7200prm will produce more heat but perhaps the laptop could handle this. Otherwise you will get some overheating shutdown downs.

  • HARD drive 80 GB to the Satellite 2410 404

    Hi all

Can someone tell me whether or not the 2410-404 is compatible with 80 GB HDD? I've got 1.40 bios installed.

I saw somewhere on the internet, which is the sale of kits of modernization including an upgrade of the bios... What is 1.40 bios or another allowing the 80 GB drives?

    Thanks in advance,
    killahertz

    Hello

There is no specific information on this subject. As far as I know if BIOS don't support the HARD drive with the largest capacity there is ability to manipulate the BIOS install different updates to BIOS or even other tools. This kind of things you won't find on the Toshiba download page.

Please check if a provider of HARD disc in your country can help you. I found one in my country. It offers 80 GB HDD even for the old units and it is warranty that it will work properly but is not free.

  • How to copy data from one hard drive to another after the upgrade?

I have a HP e9220y, and I recently bought a new hard drive for it. There is nothing wrong with the former, but this one has a 64 MB cache and 7200 RPM so I hope it will be a little faster. I installed it and it works fine, but I want to copy all data from the old disk to the new so I can start everything off the faster hard drive and I seem to have a bit of doing wrong. I can't just copy and paste because of the Windows system files that are used. And last night when I set up Windows backup, and went to bed, when I thought it that Windows has recovered from a stop unexpected, rebooted, and only 2 GB of data saved obtained.

What is the best way to move all the data from the old drive to the new drive, make it the default C: drive and move partitions system and factory_image as well? Thank you!

    (1) If your old drive and the new drive is Seagate or Western Digital, then free House with their cloning software.

    (2) before starting the clone process, I found best to perform a disk cleanup and defragmentation.

Cloning software to copy the two partitions. Example:

    Old drive 250 GB formatted to 232 C: created 220 and 12 GB D:

New 1000GO drive formatted to 931 GB created 919 GB C: and D: to 12 GB

The "Seagate disc Wizard" cloning software will let create you a clone automatic or manual partition resizing.

The two modes to offer an overview of the actions before commit you. The manual on this page of Seagate (PDF) is 68 pages.

After the cloning process he complete, all you have to do is swap on the disks. Besure to connect your new disc on the original motherboard SATA port.

  • Replace HARD drive and then reloading the system op.

Have a desktop hp a6518f with a bad hdd.  If I replace the original hdd with 500 MB (1-1, 5 to) one, backup/restore disks, that I did install work to recharge the system op (Vista Home Premium)?  Y at - it any other way, other than buy & install Win 7/8?

    Thank you.

    Hello

Restore to a larger HARD drive is not a problem if the machine accepts more HARD drive. In this case, unless the BIOS plays with her, nothing would stop you to restore your computer using your backup/restore disc.

    Kind regards.

  • 15 - r174ca: replacement hard drive

Hey guys, I'm not good with this part pick up stuff so I hope you can help out me. I got this laptop from my cousin, so I'm not completely sure of what I am working with

My hard drive failed on my laptop:

I'm not entirely sure which hard drive to replace it with so any info would be helpful. The only thing I'm certain of is the 5400 RPM.

Also, if someone could recommend some items online / in-store (Canada), which are at a good price for their performance features, it would be appreciated

    Thanks in advance

You must understand that the replacement hard drive you must remove the entire lid and jeopardizes security:

    Your repair manuals

    See pages 53-59.

As long as you do successfully the replacement, HP will honor still guarantee, however. Just be careful in here.

You can use any 2.5 inches wide and 9.5 or 7 mm thick hard SATA or SSD.

the 5400 RPM drives are a significant bottleneck, so in my mind you want to get at least a 7200 RPM hard drive and you really want to get a SSD drive if the budget allows.
