replace victory 8.1 with win 7

Just got an Envy700xt which came with win 8.1 (my bad!)). is it possible to replace it with win 7?

lasvegaswireman explains how good, thorough without decommissioning above.

Decommissioning can be a radical measure, however. If you have not installed the update 1, it may be worth your time, just to see if you end up like it better with the update.

Prior to decommissioning, you can try to make the Windows 8 look and function more like Windows 7. The following steps work only on computers that are running Windows 8.1 (rather than 8.0)...

The first thing to do to make it more Windows like Windows 7 8.1 is to bypass the splash screen when signing.  You have to do from the start screen, but once you do, you are never looking to start again! Screen of the start, taskbar type and navigation to open the charm of the search, and then select the taskbar and Navigation in search results. Navigation of the window Navigation and the taskbar tab, select the check box next to when I connect or close all applications on a screen, go to the desktop instead of the start. Subsequently, when you open a session the computer, you go straight for the destop.

Now that you're on the desktop, right-click anywhere, select Customize and change the theme of something familiar. This will make feel you more comfortable in a new operating system.

Windows 8.1, there are a small Start button on the left end of the bar at the bottom of the screen. It works exactly like the Windows 7 start button, but right click opens a menu of tools, features, and options. Sign out, close or restart without having to use the power button in the charm of parameters. You can also open this menu by pressing Windows + X keys.

Press Windows + Q keys to find and open other programs, such as Microsoft Office. Just type what you want in the search field, and then select from the list of results.

Windows Explorer or file Explorer, as it is called now, is still there. If it is not already pinned to the taskbar, it looks by pressing Windows + Q keys. File Explorer type in the search field and then click File Explorer in the search results. File Explorer works almost exactly the same as Windows Explorer, so you can easily access your files. The big difference is that there is now a folder in SkyDrive.

I hope these tips will help you feel more comfortable with Windows 8.

    Thanks adavance

Start the computer to the Windows 2000 Professional operating system. Insert the CD in the DVD in the usual way. Run the Setup program. Select the upgrade installation. Follow the prompts. Everything should be OK with your user files and applications still in place.

    Should be. No guarantee.

Best to make sure you have backups of all your files of the user, including electronic stores you want. Also. Make sure that you have a way to reinstall your programs. If you need print creitical. Make sure you check the availability of the XP drivers for your printers. Remove the Windows 2000 drivers before the update and install XP drivers after. Even if the printer uses the same driver for 2000 and XP, I would like to remove it before upgrading. Less liklihood of problems.

Is it possible to replace the hard drive with an SSD?

or would it be too expensive?

Yes.  There are several alternatives.  I found a way relatively inexpensive, using a map of mSATA (very small SSD) and an adapter to connect it to the connector IDE 44 pin internal of my PowerBook.  It works very well.  Rather than repeat what I posted previously, you can watch these two topics (which also has good info, other users)

    Hey guys,.

I have a pc hp pavilion touch laptop 14, which has been having a defective hard disk that the operating system was not start and the system test indicated that the hard drive contained errors.

I replaced the hard drive with a new one and before installing the hard drive I formatted with a win installation 8.1. I thought the laptop would just start normally to win8, but gave me a screen saying:

boot device not found please install an operating system on drive hard drive (3f0)

The hard drive is new and I did not not how its gives me this error!

In addition, this laptop does not seem to boot from a cd to format!

    Any ideas?

    Thank you

I found out what was wrong! It was so simple!

I just need to make the boot inherited from the bios, like that he started directly from the hard drive and does not need of any software pre installed HP to start.

For clean installation try to download Microsoft Media creation tool first. Using the tool, you can download a copy of the Win 8.1 installer. Save 8.1 only and not the PRO. During installation, the installation program does not the product key but it detect automatically your bios.

You will need to place the ssd instead of the original location of the hard drive to boot successfully.

  • replacing a drive d under win 7

    http://i.imgur.com/vFtuCXc.PNG

It is the disk image management of the hard drives in their current form.

I tried to replace the D drive with another, larger, by car.

Obviously, the new disk 1 - D Volume - drive does not have some vital system information copied to that contains the old disk Disk 0 - Volume E - and the system does not start without the drive E (old drive D) connected.

How can I get the system starts with the old drive D removed?

Why the operating system progresses vital information of starting on a D drive at all?

Can I make the system so that it can start regardless of the State of the D drive?

    Thank you, all.

My problem was answered by another thread.  Thanks to Milo.

I'm having a hard time imagine why he would never have a default configuration for the distributed operating system info on two separate drives.  I'm sure that this has happened when I bought the second disc and had the tecs to the shop install it for me 4 or 5 years ago.

I followed the procedure exactly and am back in business with all the information of starting on the C drive.

  • Ears randomly for 1-2 seconds on a bran-new machine with win 7 (64). What should I do?

    Hello guys,.
The title says it pretty well. I bought an Asus laptop like 6-7 days with Win 7 (64) and I discovered (almost immediately at completely random points, I'm boring spikes that almost freezes my laptop for a second. Sometimes it happens every five minutes, it happens sometimes every 30 minutes. Sometimes I was using only a web browser (google chrome), but sometimes, it happens when the chrome has been closed... This problem does NOT persist while I'm in the Mode without failure. I use the windows gadget "All CPU Meter" witch shows high utilization of the processor during these "spikes". However, I can't identify the process that causes the same if if I am staying and waiting on the Task Manager because it goes really fast, but still it's really boring. Maybe if there is a way to put a log on the activity of the UC... All the drivers are installed, I'm with the last ups of victory. I use an Asus laptop with:

You can temporarily uninstall McAfee and try a free product like Microsoft Security Essentials. This could show that the problem is with McAfee or something else is the cause of pull up.

  • Problem with Fingerprintsensor on Portege A600 with Win XP and Win 7

    Hello

I bought a new Portege with Win Vista on it and Win Xp on a CD Revovery. It has worked on my new laptop. Then I installed Win 7 on it without making a backup of my system of work. It was a big mistake. I downloaded Win 7 of the Toshiba homepage divers. But the Fingerprint Software means that there is no sensor. The driver has been installed. After much trying, I used the recovery CD. Now I have WIN XP on my system with the same problem. It was a recovery with all the drivers CD. He had to work. But it does not work.

Someone at - it an idea? Could someone help me?

    Best wishes

    Martin

    Hallo Martin

You are right. It should work fine if there is no problem with the sensor itself.
Is it difficult for you to test it with Vista image too?
I mean if the situation is the same, maybe you should contact the nearest authorized service.

    Can you start fingerprinting software?

  • Card SD NOT recognized on the Libretto U100/U105 with Win XP

I have several booklet, a combination of U100 and U105, with Win XP SP3.

I'm astronished and disappointed that Toshiba is a not ship computers laptops with SD card reader drivers.

Please, should what driver I install to get the SD card reader work?

    Thanks in advance!

    > I am astronished and disappointed that Toshiba is a not ship computers laptops with SD card reader drivers.

So all the drivers for Win XP for this Libretto U100 series are available on the European driver Toshiba page
So I m wondering why you're disappointed with Toshiba

However, I could find the driver choose:
    Product type: Archives
    Family: booklet
    Series of products: Libretto U100
    Short num: PLU10E
    OS: Windows XP

Now you should get all the Win XP drivers.

I guess that the Cardbus driver is the driver you are looking for her should get the card reader controller to work.
In addition, you must install the SD Secure Module. This software is an update for your TOSHIBA Secure Digital Host controller.

  • Satellite A100-683 with Win 7 - screen brightness adjustment does not work

    Hello

    I have a model of Satellite A100-683 PSAA9E with Win 7

My problem is that I don't have a brightness in my dashboard-> laptop Center

I tried to install the drivers from the site Web of Toshiba (additional package, return), but stops the installation always with errors such as: value added package: PVAT Setup error

I tried to install the drivers for Vista...

    Please help me!
    Sorry for my English mistakes.

    Hello

The installation may stop due to system problems or the PVAT erroneous version.
I recommend you to uninstall the installed VAP.
After the PVAT has been uninstalled, restart the laptop.
Now, download and install the tool small freeware called CCLeaner.
It helps to clean the system and deletes files temporal garbage from the HARD drive.
After the cleaning of the system registry, you must restart the system once more.

Now, go to the page of the Toshiba UE driver and download the Toshiba value added Package for Win 7. Note! Choose the right! There are differences between the 32-bit and 64-bit version.

Unzip the package, run the exe from installation or installation file and start the installation.
Installation should finish properly and after new reboot, you should be able to use the function keys.

  • How do I know if Qosmio G30-198 is compatible with win 7 64 bit?

    Hi again,

How will I know if my old Qosmio G30-198 is compatible with win 7 64 bit? I think that there are some not compatible microprocessors.

    Thank you

    Hello

    As I m not wrong, G30-198 supports the Intel® Core 2 Duo T7200 processor

According to the Intel page http://ark.intel.com/products/27255/Intel-Core2-Duo-Processor-T7200 this processor supports 64-bit architecture
So you shouldn't have trouble to install a 64-bit system

I agree with Akuma. Disable the internal mouse and external use only. I have old Tecra M1 with the same keyboard and in my case the problem was faulty Acupoint placed on the keyboard.

With the new keyboard, everything was OK again.
I recommend you to disable the mouse of the computer laptop and external use only.

I've replaced Firefox 3.6 with version 4 that is not on my computer. How can I reinstall Firefox 3.6?

Firefox 4 requires at least OS X 10.5 and an Intel Mac. There is a third part of Firefox 4 version that works under OS X 10.4/10.5 and PPC Macs, for details, see http://www.floodgap.com/software/tenfourfox

If you prefer, you can get the latest version of Firefox 3.6 http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
