I have a Dell Inspiron 1440 use for 2010 all of a sudden, I saw this error message 'drive hard internal found to solve this problem try to reinstall the drive' when I turned it on. Then I tested with other other laptop HARD disk drive and it starts fine. Then realized that the HARD drive was taken, at the bottom, a new samsung SSD 120 GB drive and installed on my laptop and try to install Windows 7 from a CD see always the same error when turned on.

    Please help with this question.

    Thank you guys!

My bad after I installed the drive SSD the CD that was in the DVD player was the CD for Applications/drivers instead of Windows 7 disc. I just realized and installed Win7 on my new hard drive, my laptop is back to normal. Thank God! I saved 500 to get the new laptop.

  • Windows 7 is my CD/DVD in the hard disk drive

The original hard disk drive has been damaged, and I replaced it the installation a professional version of windows 7, 32 bit.

I used prior to windows Vista, and everything worked very well. now, with Windows 7 can not format my drive CD/DVD or CD/DVD read/write.

I tried before solving the problem using Microsoft Fix it but failed.

    Please, I need your help!

OK what I mean try, reboot your system with the Windows cd again and see if your dvdrwe drive cannot read the disc. Unfortunately, you can have a bad disk but before ruling out, you need to do some troubleshooting steps more. Did you try and install your DVD - RW drive on another pc will exclude both software and hardware, or if you can install another drive on your pc. Good luck

  • Satellite L500 - hard disk drive partitioning

    Hi all (first posting times)

I came across a little curiosity. Bought new laptop everything installed, then loaded into all the previous laptop backup files, brilliant all work...
But then noticed was running out of space on the hard disk (drive C)?

Why? It is a 500 GB hard drive. So I checked. Its actually a HDD 500 gig, divided into two, also. OK, understand that, first partition is C: for all files of system etc, there is d: recovery of files (using about 8 gig) then nothing else... what a mess.

So the question, can I do the largest C: drive by reducing the D: partition? If NOT, it would make more sense then just make another partition E: for example?

Oooh and I will make the recovery of files from damage by doing this.

All your advice much appreciated kind.

If it is not broken... your cheek is not hard enough *.

Why are you doing this so complicated? HARD drive has two partitions, and you can use all that space. Toshiba has saved the recovery image of HARD drive on the second partition, but this does not mean that you are not allowed to save your data there. You can do but just don't touch or change folder HDDRecovery. Just leave it there, or make it invisible.

This file can be used later for the installation of HARD disk image - http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD9102IR0000R01.htm
    Imagine the following situation:
You save all your stuff on the C partition and one day for some reason you cannot boot OS and it is completely unusable. What you can do? Maybe install OS again. OK good idea, but you will lose all your important data.

In order to better is to save all the stuff on the D partition, and if something goes wrong, you can install OS using HARD drive recovery facility. This means that C partition will be formatted and clean the OS installed on it by using the image of the D partition. The point is that any data saved to the D partition will be there and you won't lose anything.

If you want to install the OS via recovery DVD (hopefully you have created the) the whole HARD drive will be formatted and you will lose all saved data.
I hope you understand now how it works then think of all the important data and save it as with certain external devices too.

    Hi how are you?

Well, I would like to know I do an external drive using the portable hard drive whose name is "Toshiba MK8034GSX" which is with a capacity of 80 GB.
A few days back I plugged to the USB port with my pc but after that it says need driver and I n t have the HARD disk driver.

So kindly if anyone has the driver or know the link where I can find the driver then tell me I will be very grateful to you all.

    Hello

    What is a USB HDD?
You n t need any driver, and there is no drivers for an external USB HDD.

The USB driver is part of the Windows OS and it s already installed.
The USB HDD must be fitted with a plug & play device which means that should be recognized automatically after you connect to the laptop USB port.

What OS you have and what laptop is it?
The operating system is up to date?
USB ports are correctly listed in the Device Manager?

    Hi dynamitenews

    1. are you able to boot to the desktop?
    2. what happens when you try to start the computer?

You must have the DVD drive to start the computer using the disk, you cannot use the external hard drive to do the same thing.

Also I suggest you to make sure you have defined the start as CD/DVD-Rom as the first choice option in the BIOS. See below the help link-
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/BIOS-frequently-asked-questions

If nothing is done, then you can contact the manufacturer support for assistance on setting up the correct boot sequence and check.

  • Swapping of hard disks in X 200 tablet, help!

I'm trying to swap the 5400 RPM 160 GB of this stock came with a 7200 RPM 160 GB for our Director. The new hard drive is completely empty WITHOUT service partition that I can see. I made the recovery of the original disc disc, but when I try to restore it on the new drive, it is said that it cannot because there is no partition on the disk. I start in DOS and FDISK sees only about 15 GB in both old and new drives instead of the 160 GB. What is the best way to transfer my install XP from the old HDD to the new?  Thanks in advance for any advice...

    Adam

OK, so I tried to do a full restore with the option of hard disk full restore and it did not work, me still have no the message of partition. However, the restore factory default option worked like a charm, even if it took about an hour and a half to restore what I can deal with this.

  • w540 replace the cd for a second hard disk drive?

    Hello

I ordered the thinkpad w540 last week. With a dirve normal hard drive and a CD compartment. I figured out after the arrivied to the computer I got a solidsate inside my xps 15 hp.

In the best of cases, I would replace the CD drive, as says the config in the web page in timeline option could be done. How could I know if it is possible to replace the CD player with another hard drive?

Otherwise I would try to replace the original disk for the solid state hard drive, but in this case I loose windows system 8. Is is possible to install again in the new hard drive with the same license?

I was wondering just because it would be nice to keep the drive inside your computer instead of having to plug it in all the time, due to the faster speed, it would be good to use is as the primary dirver.

    Thanks in advance,

    -Jorge

    Hi, Jorge

you will need an adapter "caddy" to house the second HDD/SDD. Ch right here in the forum, see http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/forums/searchpage/tab/message?location=forum-board%3AW_ThinkPads&q=caddy... .

For my W540, I use the caddy of http://www.newmodeus.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=555 and have a very good experience over the years (W510, W520, W540...).

Regarding replace drive HARD original with SSD, there are basically two possibilities - either you use the recovery option (create your own media - see google or trying to get a Lenovo - not sure it will work) or use a transfer software. I have used for years Acronis products, especially because it acknowledges the SSD and aligns everything as it should on SSD (won't go now too deeply in the alignment of industry and to this day).

  • failure of hard disk drive necessary to reinstall WinXP Home on replacement HARD drive

I have an of Western Digital HARD drive with my system of operating XP Home 32-bit installed on my primary C: drive.

I have run the Diagnostics tool online to WD for the reader who found intractable errors on the disc, which indicates an imminent drive failure and an email their technical support confirms the disk needs to be replaced SOON before she completely fails.

I copied all personal off the drive failed on another drive good files and am now ready to remove the failed drive and install a new replacement main primary HDD and then reinstall my XP Home on it - so - until I started to do this thinking, I would ask for tips in anticipation of a smooth, re - install on the new drive.

I got a 25 character key and proof of 8-character license key. There is a Microsoft sticker on the back of the pc (that I do not see to read right now, but its there).

So, I remove the old drive and fit the replacement drive and this format and then install my XP Home - can we see a particular problem with activation?

    concerning

Depending on whether you have a recovery CD suitable for activation key for your sticker or not, there are three possible courses of action. Each activation of the path should not be a problem unless this procedure has been done several times or your 25-character key fell into the wrong hands.

If you have a recovery CD

If you do not have a recovery CD

I hope that your original drive will have a recovery partition or the means to create a recovery CD. If you can create recovery media do now. In the contrary case and the original disc has a recovery partition make a clone of the original hard disk sector by sector to your new car now. If the clone is successful, i.e., that there are no unreadable sectors, is perhaps the best way to proceed in any case, especially if your PC is in good health other than the imminent failure of your HARD drive. If the clone does not work out, you can always fall back on the new installation. The advantage of a clone is that there is no re-setup software to (updates Windows or Office to give just two examples) and didn't need to be restored. I paid for the partitioning/cloning software and have no experience of all freebies out there to make recommendations, perhaps 10crackers can help with this.

If you have managed to create a recovery media, you can use it instead of cloning.

If you clone successfully you can just use it as is, or use the built-in recovery partition that you just cloned to do a clean install.

If you don't have a recovery media and cannot create an and is unable to successfully clone

You will have to contact the manufacturer of your PC to see if they can provide recovery media.

Please help... I dunno what to do one day, I came home from work and my new about sony vaio desktop has been frozen, so I rebooted and now I have this message when I try to start and I do not have a vista disc or a recovery disc and am worried my lost data as I do not know how to save at this point because I can't even in the windows operating system Vista.  can someone help me please?

We must believe the error message telling you that your hard drive is about to fail. If you are not technically proficient, take the machine to a local computer technician who will try to back up your data and then replace the hard drive. Do not use a type of BigComputerStore/GeekSquad of the place. Otherwise, you may be able to get the data saved by one of the methods below and replace the hard drive yourself.

1 remove the drive and put it in a box of USB drive or use a USB adapter. Attach it to a computer that is running a working XP/Vista/Windows7 installation. Use the work of Windows Explorer to copy the data to the hard drive of the system to the rescue and burn data on cd or dvd. I prefer not to do it if I know the drive is infected because he has a chance to infect your host system. In these cases, I use #2 below.

    2. you can start the target computer with a Bart PE (if you use XP) or a Linux live CD like Knoppix and retrieve the data in this way. General information about the use of Knoppix for this are:

You will need a computer with two cd records, one of which is an engraver of CD/DVD OR a USB thumb drive with sufficient capacity to store your data, OR an external hard drive formatted USB FAT32 (not NTFS) *. Download Knoppix .iso image file and create your bootable CD. If you do this in a previous (XP or Vista) operating system, you will need the third burning like Nero, Roxio or the free ImgBurn software (Windows 7 can burn .isos natively). Burn as an image, not in the form of data. Then boot with the CD that you created, and Knoppix will be able to see the files in Windows. If you use the USB key or an external hard disk, right-click on its icon (on the desktop) to get its properties and uncheck "read only". Then click on it to open it. Note that the mouse action by default in the window manager used by Knoppix (KDE) is a simple click to open instead of double-click traditional MS Windows. If you want to burn CD/DVDs, use the K3b program.

    * My understanding is that you can now write on NTFS from Linux partition. If you wish to do this, Google for instructions on the use of the NTFS driver.

IMPORTANT - If there is no question that the drive is at fault - there are noises, for example - and the data is crucial NOTHING else ON THE DISC. Whenever launch you this player you can destroy data. If this is the case, send the drive to a professional data recovery company. I use savers by car, but there are others. General prices run from $500USD on-site. Investors recovered all disk data on a portable player that failed for one of my clients, and it cost $2 700. He thought that it was worth the money; only you know what's worth your data. I understand that some insurance companies now cover fresh data recovery so check with yours.

  • Is it Possible to share a HARD disk drive (with a KNOWN password) protected between ThinkPads?

    Greetings,

I spilled a drink sweet in my X 200, fence it beyond all repair.  The X 200 hard drive has ONLY one disk HARD password bios I created and you know.  To try to recover my files from hard drive of the X 200, I removed the disk and inserted into my T60.  When I turned on the T60, I got the usual HARD disk password prompt.  However, when I entered the password (all tiny, no special characters or non-English speaking, and which I know is quite OK), I had the symbol of the incorrect password.  I turned off the machine and repeat this process.  After the second attempt, I saw the password prompt with a closed hand.

Later, I followed a procedure recommended by Lenovo to clear the password (do not think that I am allowed to post a link): enter the password followed by a space.  That did not work.

I wonder if HARD drive pasword protected drive of the X 200 is somehow related to this particular machine and can not, as I had always supposed, be exchanged in another machine and accessible by entering the correct password.

I also wonder if I can have permanantly me locked out the reader by making too many attempts "invalid."

(Edited to add additional information and to make the more descriptive subject that it was originally).

    LongtimeTPOwner, welcome to the forum,

Sorry to hear about your situation remove the password must be possible in another X 200 or even another ThinkPad at the same time system for example, T400, T500,... etc.

A consideration that you would like to take a look is the password parameter in the menu BIOS password; If it is set differently on the T60 of how this has been put on the X 200 it could present problems according to the password used, especially if it's "special characters".
