  My Adviser for any installation of greenfield is to use CUCM; However, it does not entirely replace VCS, and it should in the near future. Here are some examples:

  • VCS control is always the product of call control recommended for video customers other than Cisco (Polycom, Sony, generic H.323, etc.). This is also the case for other types of interoperability (for example IPv4 to IPv6).
  • VCS control is always necessary for the travesal firewall Ascend/H.460 to work with VCS Expressway. Any call to the Internet would be CUCM--> VCS - C--> VCS - E--> Internet.
  • VCS Expressway is always required for any client capable non-AnyConnect located on internet to register; CUCM is not intended to be directly Internet facing.

  CUCM is Cisco Lighthouse call control platform and this will be the design choice by default unless one arrises specific requirement that excludes it. Perhaps, if the client doesn't have a Cisco UC today and don't ever be (which seems unlikely that frankly), you may be able to justify a VCS approach only. The days of a compartmentalized video compatible infrastructure seem well numbered.

• Replace the master VCS counterpart cluster (hardware failure)

  We need to replace a faulty Cisco VCS in a cluster. The peer was the master before failing.

  I if I understand cluster documentation we need to remove the VCs of the cluster and add it back in.

  My question is this will incur any interruption of on-line service on the cluster itself? Must the existing direct VCs or replacement be restarted etc.?

  Hi David,

  No, the cluster will be always operational, just with a less VCS in its composition.

  Obviously, all calls that are active on the VCS that you delete will be affected, but the whole of the activities of the VCS will not (the other but many other you have in the cluster devices will be continuous without any required restart).

  VCS STARTER PACK our users is getting old and we want to replace it. The customer uses a lot of Movi, but not with the TMS. If replace us CE500 of VCS STARTER PACK and keep Movi, TMS is required? Use Movi no TMS?

  Yes the MSDS is required to use Jabber video. in fact, you need TMS and VCS.

  The best route is to upgrade the VCS Starter Pack using the portion VCS Starter Pack Upgrade to the VCS control - TMS, Movi 100 users. Start by PN: CTI-VCSC-SPUPG-K9. This upgrade gives you full VCS and complete MSDS and 100 licenses.

  If you have more than 100 Jabber (movi) you need to migrate your licenses on.

• Question of VCS rehost keys/transfer option

  • Customer SCV was RMA and purchased options reheberges/transferred orig keys. SN to the new replacement.
  • Orig. VCS is still in Production.

  Question: Will impact entering the option on the new replacement buttons and put online the original aircraft still in production?

  This will not affect anything, keys options that were transferred from the VCS failed the new one does not reference the old device somehow.  The process of transfer/rehost just allows you to get even or like keys options for your replacement that matches the old device you send to Cisco.

  You will also need to contact the vendor or whoever the service contracts were purchased through them for having updated to take account of the RAM, so the old serial number may be replaced by a new one, you have received.  This process occurs automatically when a RMA or rehost is finished.

  I would like a little help on a CPL script, that I'm working on. I lived all the examples of community support and I am always sick.

  We run on VCS X8.2.  What I've read, VCS X8.1 has introduced a few new CPL capabilities, including the node location CPL supports rewriting the regex-based source alias.  I would like to take advantage of this new feature. I'm looking for a tutorial or a direction more advanced examples using this new capability.

  Here's my question:

  I have an internal domain "CompanyA.local" and I have a public domain "Entreprisea.com". «My Cisco video endpoints register control VCS with a SIP URI of "[email protected] / * / .local'.»

  Receive calls from outside help "[email protected] / * / com" and the rules of research, I route calls properly internally.

  When I dial an external company, my endpoint is showing a video SIP URI of "[email protected] / * / .local"

  Of course, this isn't a SIP URI dial-able and should be changed to "[email protected] / * / .com'." "

  oooooo, that answer above gave me the answer I was looking for. It does not work! It seems that the syntax for the xml file has changed from pre x 8 and x 8. Looks like I've been using the incorrect syntax. I was missing the AVA: in the clause to the proxy, which is my version of rule switch not working. Still don't know why the address switch did not work, but I prefer the rule-switch anyway, so no big loss for me.

  I have two VCS-E and VCS - C and I followed the VCS - C and E Deployment guide please help me with the following:

  If you have any SIP domains configured on your highway?  You can leave % localdomains % as it is, as that will match all SIP domains configured on your Expressway.  If you do not have any installation areas SIP, to replace it by whatever your field.

  Insofar as the DNS records, I guess you're talking about SRV records?  If so, see some of the discussions in the forums below.

  Essentially, you have an a record for your Expressway which will be that it is COMPLETE, and on your external domain, you create SRV records for each type of service that point to this FQDN Expressway.

• Question about VCS 7.1 Media flow-thru

  We currently have a way to call that looks like this:

  Endpoint (SIP and H323) > VCS control > VCS - E (SIP and H323) neighbouring area > firewall > neighbouring area to the CUBE (NOT only).

  When the VCS-E they interact SIP to H323 he directed media flow-thru allowing traffic through the firewall because it proxies all media and signaling.  However, if the call all the way SIP, it will proxy the call signaling but not the media.  Right now, we have it working, but we need to convert SIP H323 calls then back to SIP for it to work.

  Is there a way to force the VCS-E to proxy all media to the CUBE, rather than some media of interoperability calls?  I know it's usually what a crossing area is for, but AFAIK that does not work when you use CUBE to VCS-E.

  VCS - E has obviously the hardware capacity and processing to do this (because he now works via workarounds) so I hope that there is a way I can do a little more cleanly.

  I don't know your deployment, especially when you run a nearby area of the

  VCS - c to the-e probably works, but you should know how it behaves for really knowing why

  to use it, and a hack so save licenses is often not the best starting point.

  You can configure the routing of locking media which will link the media to the vcs-e.

  (this may not work with all types of areas, at least all the profiles of the area, but at least it does with custom)

  What kind of error you see on the server of TMS? Maybe the ist possible to fix it?

  Before you replace your server TMS device, you need schedule downtime for maintenance.

  You should back up your sql database and the agent MSDS database. Then install the new TMS server with the corresponding version of the former and restore and backup agent MSDS database. You can then enable replication again.

  Keep in mind that the TMS appliance server is EOL and EOS, but also you can be able to take advantage of the Cisco migration program.

  I'm trying to get VCS to add a prefix to a string e.g. 33333 E.164 becomes 4233333.

  I tried to do by using the rule of research and transformation, but every time I test I still end up with an appeal that crosses as SIP rather the H.323, resuming a traversal license.

  What I have tried is the following;

  The reason is we have a RMX 2000 bridge that records only the permanent conferences such as SIP and compose their H.323, to first in the prefix followed by the id of the conf. It is to make all the standard component throughout our Organization.

  Hello, I noticed that when I try to call an IP address of a client Jabber video on the iPad, than if I just dial one IP address, it adds the SIP client Jabber domain name to the IP address and the call fails because it does not recognize this address format.  I know that I can call by putting an alias in front of the intellectual property and it work, but what a transformation regex would I need to integrate into our VCS for the call to work if users want to just put the single IP address?

  I want to take @and make it just .  How can I make this possible using the regex?

  SIP on the 150 sucks MXP. You want to just disable sip and use only on 323.
