• Replace C: drive on laptop with Vista 64 Ultimate

  I have a laptop HP with two internal hard drives.  I use C: for operating system, programs, etc. and D: for data.  I replaced D: with a bigger drive, no problem.  I copied all the data from the original D: files to a portable player, then replaced the internal drive with a bigger drive and copied the files data back.  The problems started when I tried to replace the C: drive.  First of all, I did a mirror backup of C: to the external drive.  Then I replaced the internal C: drive with a bigger.  I used the HP DVD I got with the laptop to Vista (and a bunch of crapware) on the new C: drive.  I tried to restore from the portable hard drive so that my new C: would have the same operating system and programs such as the old C: drive.  But it does not work.  I received a message that it could not restore because it had never been saved.  Seems like a Catch 22.  Help!

  Create a backup of the system reserved partition and the partition C: Windows using the old drive. Install the new drive and restore the system reserved partition, and then restore the Windows partion.

  Note: To keep your data D: drive secure delete it before you create and restore.

  When you installed the trial, it should have been an option for ignoring your current installation and let. Apparently you skipped this case. To uninstall the trial (in Windows) go to control panel > programs and features and select XI Acrobat and choose uninstall. HOWEVER, if you see your old Acrobat in this window, do not run the vacuum cleaner, but do a repair on the old version.

  A dc7700 motherboard would probably be good but who won't take a processor E6700 C2D 2.66 GHz.

  The dc7700 was the last model to use this type of case.
