Replacement of bad taken USB/eSATA in Satellite L550

Im a traveling musician and use all my usb ports on this laptop intensively. Unfortunately, the left dual eSATA/USB port is pretty well exhausted. I'm at the corner of a card to make it work and even in this case I could suddenly lose connection and restart the software of my studio.

It's really annoying, and the only way out he replaced the port. I tried the USB hubs, but I'd rather have this sort.

I have 2 questions, are generally easy to weld on USB ports and the USB/eSATA plug available the sale as a spare?

I have a large amount of soldering experience, however, there is no point opening to the top of my laptop and find the easy jobs find that these two USB ports are not available for purchase of small amount.

Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks :)

lol don't know why I typed hdmi

Hi lonetraider,

I agree with you: it's really a little bit boring if an external port doesn t work properly, especially when you use it very often.

With regard to the spare parts and repair: I'm not sure because I m not a technician of portable but for as far as I know the port is fixed/soldered to the motherboard. This means that you need to exchange the entire mainboard to replace this unique piece

But I think in this case, you need an official answer so please contact a service provider authorized in your country. Guys you can tell if it is possible or not and how it would cost:

Good luck! :)

None of these options are acceptable in the circumstances.

You can not install XP on a Flash as his unsupported drive. Your only two options are a traditional hard drive or Solid State Drive (SSD).

  • Satellite L550 - error code 43 for USB

I have a Satellite L550. There are sometimes problems with the recognition of USB devices. I use Windows7. In Device Manager, I found the error code 43 is displayed under the USB controllers section. I already read on the Internet; the problem might appear because of a capacitor on USB controller that stores a charge to keep certain settings. These settings can get damaged. The proposed solution is to unplug the computer and empty the load completely from the map. When the code 43 error, any device USB is not properly recognized.

Does anyone know the problem? Is the scenario that I described the source of the problem, I don't know, but I think it could be?
Is there a definitive solution to the problem?

    Thanks for any help.

    > I already read on the Internet. the problem might appear because of a capacitor on USB controller that stores a charge to keep certain settings

It can also take place... Have you tried to update the chipset utility from the [Page Driver Toshiba | http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp]? The driver of the usb controller is responsible for these functions, which is part of the chipset drivers. Thus, it is worthy to update

  • USB esata combo port?

Hello. While the specs on the hp site for my HP G72-b66US Notebook PC win7 64 bit indicates that one of the three usb ports on my laptop is a usb-esata combo port, I can't. • What brand of external drive USB/eSATA can save a Virtual Machine to host Windows 7 operating system?

    People,

Hello. I use 3 Player VM and Guest OS Windows Server 2003. The host OS is Windows 7. I need to increase the size of the VM disk, so who can install several systems in the guest OS. Before you increase the size of the virtual disk, I need to back up the virtual machine hard disk external. It is to copy and paste the "C:\VirtualMachine\" folder in the hard disk external.

I just bought an external hard drive that is "Western Digital My Passport Essential 500 GB USB 3.0" and its software is "WD SmartWare". It seems that the software can back up the entire hard drive only. Alternatively, the backup files by selecting the types (music, photo, document, movies). But can not save a folder "C:\VirtualMachine\".

So my question is: what brand of external drive USB/eSATA can save a Virtual Machine to host Windows 7 operating system?

These two questions do not apply if you have a virtual machine.

  • Satellite L550 - DVD player-help you need

    Hi all

    I use a computer Satellite L550-10N.

Question 1 / hand: while watching a movie on DVD yesterday, the computer seems to loose contact with the DVD and did not want to read any more successful after one or two trial. I tried with other DVDs today, and none can be read. This means that the DVD drive is out of service? What should I do next? Has anyone encountered this problem? How to identify the default value? How to repair?

Issue 2 / secondary: while searching on the internet for similar cases (which I have not yet found), I found some drivers seem old and seem to need a replacement by new. The pilots include network adapter (Inter (R) Wifilink 5100 AGN;) Realtek RTL8102/8103 Familiy PCI-E FE NIC), sound, video and game controller (ATI HDMI Audio; Realteck Audio high definition), System (bridge Intel (R) 82801 PCI-2448) devices and "Device disconnected" (in french) as USB storage device. What will I do with this information?

    Thanks for your help!

    Cecile

    Hello

    I agree with Akuma.
    You should try to remove and delete the upper and lower registry key filters: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Co ntrol\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
But it has been already mentioned in MS. knowledge base article

Before delete upper and lower filters in the registry, you must delete the ODD (optical disc) in the Device Manager list.
After that remove the upper and lower filters and restart the device.

  • Missing symbols when typing fast on my Satellite L550

    Hello

My Satellite L550 laptop has the same problem of keyboard L670 series. More often, some keys don't work, always the same: 1 6 s d g j... When this problem occurs, I can type using a second key like shift or SPACEBAR.

L670 series that has been corrected by new BIOS but on L550 what could I do?

Sometimes it works fine, but I still need to type slowly, but it won't...

Thanks a lot for a solution

    Sorry for my bad English

    > More often, certain keys do not work, always the same: 1 6 s d g j... When this problem occurs, I can type using a second key like shift or SPACEBAR.

To be honest it s I do not know that the L550 would be affected by the same problem of keyboard as the L670.
Have you tested this behavior of the laptop with an external USB keyboard?
    Do this

If the same question is not available using the second external USB keyboard, this means that the BIOS is ok and the internal keyboard is affected.

  • Satellite L550 - specifications

Have looked through the research but no luck - just need to know if my satellite L550 with i5 4 g running Windows 7 Pro is able to support an external drive eSATA which I want to build as the usb ready mades take forever to backup, etc.

It has been suggested to me to find out if the mobo of my machine is able to "hot swap" and is in AHCI mode - but how do I know this info from the machine? Am fairly new at this stuff and any help would be really appreciated.

As a matter of interest too - if I can use such a device is he "retired" in the same way as a USB device?

    Hi johndragon46,

What model of Satellite L550 say exactly?
I mean there are a lot of L550 models on the market

But as far as I know the eSATA port is supported of all models of laptops, but this has nothing to do with the AHCI mode. It is only important for internal HDD when you install Windows.

  • Satellite L550 - impossible to activate Bluetooth & wireless

    Hello

Can anyone help, I just replaced the hard drive and I have no backup disc for windows 7.
This laptop came with Vista installed and an automatic upgrade to windows 7.

I downloaded all the drivers for this model and I can not get the wireless or Bluetooth to work as they say of
to activate the switch. I searched the sides out of the PC and there is NO switch then, how can we get it to work.

This is the only problem that I have.
PS The Lan cable works OK.

    Thanks in advance.

    Satellite L550 (PSLN8A-00Y008)

On many models of Toshiba WLAN switch is no longer available and WIFI/BT will be enabled/disabled with function keys (FN keys). To work, you must install added Toshiba Value Package and Toshiba Flash Cards Support utility.

You have two of them? Check please if Toshiba flash cards are listed in the startup (run > msconfig > startup).
By the way: you can use the keys FN + Fx?

  • Satellite L550 - lack drivers for Bluetooth

Attempts without end to get my cell phone Nokia 7230 working with the Bluetooth on my Toshiba Satellite L550, but nothing happens. When I try to download the drivers, it says plug it. Also, I get this message of Nokia PC Suite.

I get the message that the three drivers are missing, 6to4 map ISATAP M/S M/S & M/S Teredo Tunneling adapter card.
All attempts to repair through the Microsoft site failed, & the only suggestion is "computer to contact manufacturer.

The computer is still under warranty, purchased in France where I still live.
Just to add to my misery, Windows 7 is in French, which is not making things easier, because English is my mother tongue.

Should I just give up & buy a USB cable & forget Bluetooth?

    Hello

Are you sure that portable supports the internal Bluetooth adapter?
Check if you have a BT label at the bottom of the unit
Maybe the laptop does not support the BT module and so you are not able to connect the phone to this unit

If the laptop supports an internal BT module, you must reinstall the BT stack which you can find here:
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/Bluetooth/

FYI: you can activate the BT using FN + F8

  • CD/DVD AutoPlay does not not on Satellite L550-1CC

    Hello

AutoPlay does not appear when you insert a disc in the CD/DVD drive or use a USB more.
He used be ok up to 3 months ago.
I don't remember if I did anything to get rid of AutoPlay.

It is a satellite L550-1cc, windows 7. 64-bit operating system.

I went into Control Panel / hardware & audio / Auto Play and Auto Play's Ticked the box for all.
    Still no Auto game
Then go into My Computer directions click on DVD - RW drive / properties / material / click on TSST corp CD DVGW
TS-L633C. The display now indicates "this device now works correctly.
But there is STILL no Auto play.

Please anyone know where to go to the next, I'm lost?

    Thanks Martin

The AutoPlay option isn't appearing any more in Win 7 under the CD/DVD drive properties.
Auto Play located in the Panel as you suggested above.

    Panel-> AutoPlay
Here you must check the option called reading auto use for all devices and media

Now if you want to listen to an Audio CD, you must choose a default application for Audio CD. Here, change the option called choose a default of Windows Media Player, in case you want to use this software for automatic playback.

  • Satellite L550 - SMART failure HARD disk reports early - what to do?

    Toshiba Satellite L550-113

At startup, I get a fault HARD drive reporting mini-message soon, and I am asked to by pressing F1 before will continue to Windows (Vista 32 bit).

The message of the Toshiba HDD application alert is as follows:

    Disk0
Your HARD drive is SMART failure to predict who monitors the HARD drive, operating status. Your HARD drive is facing a problem and CHIP controlling the software predicts that the HARD drive will fail. Toshiba strongly recommends that you create a backup for the data on your HARD drive. Contact an authorized service provider to check your drive and buy a new drive for replacement if necessary.

I ordered a new HARD drive to replace the failed HDD (can't be bothered p * ssing all with the support of the RMA and tech).

However, is it possible to repair the old HDD once it's been deleted? If I have the reformat, it would do anything, or is it more serious than that?

    Hello

What should do? Back up all your data as soon as possible. You have created recovery DVD?
If this is not the case, do. When you redeem your laptop HARD drive, you can use this recovery disc to install the operating system and have once again the factory settings.

What is with guarantee s notebook? I mean that if the warranty is still valid, you can request service Toshiba to replace HARD drive.
