Replacing screen on Satellite L20 182

My monitor satellite L20-128 is broken, so I need to replace it with a new one, I get the same. I mean with the same number (LQ150X1LHS2 / B 5XD24863), or there are other choices?

Hello

Generally, you should always buy the parts recommended by the manufacturer of the laptop!
Then you could be 100% sure that the part (display) is right.

To my knowledge, the laptop uses a 15.0 "1024 x 768 TFT screen.
It is important that you buy the same size 15.
The resolution is not very import.
I m sure that the graphic card supports a higher resolution than 1024 x 768 and if you go to buy a screen that supports a higher resolution, you will be able to define the display on a higher resolution.

  • Satellite L20-182: after installing the OS only USB 1.1 not 2.0

Hello, I am an owner of the model Toshiba Satellite L20-182.
Recently I did a format disk and installed Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 2.

Unfortunately, the system detects USB as a version 1.1.
I find anywhere USB 2.0 drivers.

    Could you help me?

    Hello

Why suggest that you have only the USB 1.1 and USB 2.0?

To my knowledge you will not find any special USB Toshiba drivers Toshiba page.
Each unit of Toshiba uses the current Microsoft Windows USB drivers and it s not necessary to install the special USB drivers.

I assume that you have installed the operating system from the original CD of Microsoft and not the Toshiba back CD. Am I wrong?
In this case you must install all Toshiba drivers that are available in the right order. The chipset utility is very important! Generally, the chipset must be installed at the first stage.

Please also check this Microsoft documents:

When you install Windows XP Service Pack 2, the USB 2.0 drivers do not appear to be updated

  • Satellite L20-182: is it possible to upgrade processor?

Hello. I have a Toshiba Satellite L20 - 182 and I want to change the CPU.
My CPU is the Celeron M 380 (1.6 Ghz), and I want to install Pentium M.
    Can I do it?
If I can, can what Pentium M I install on my motherboard?
    Please answer me.

    Sebastian K., from the Poland

    Hello

Well, in general it of not possible to upgrade the processor.
Some processors are fixed mounted on the motherboard.
In addition, the processors used in laptops are connected to the motherboard using a process called TCP (tape carrier package). It is a permanent connection method and is used in the interest of miniaturization and heat dissipation

    Just for info:
I found some Satellite L20 units which are supplied with different processors.
    For example:
    Satellite L20-204 Intel-Pentium-M (Dothan) 750 1.86GHz
    Satellite L20-214 Intel-Pentium-M (Dothan) 740 1.73GHz
    Satellite L20-300 Intel-Celeron-M (Dothan) 370 1.5GHz

  • Satellite L20-182: fan is not working properly - intervals of one minute

When I turn on the computer about 20 minutes is quiet. The fan starts like a hurricane, slows down and stops. It lasts a few seconds. The fan works this way on a regular basis with intervals of one minute.
Is it possible to turn the fan on a continuous work in slow motion?

    Hi Dominika

I put t believe that your laptop can be so dusty in a few months and believe me there everything is ok. I know that cooling fan noise is sometimes annoying, but unfortunately there is not much to do.

I'll be honest to you. Satellite L20 is low budget and the unit is configured very simply. For most Toshiba units, it has preinstalled Toshiba intelligence tool and it is possible to change the method of cooling. On your device, it is not possible.

  • Satellite L20-182 (PSL2XE) & 120 GB HARD drive upgrade

    HELO :)

I'm going to buy a new HARD drive and I think that about 120 GB but I.m not sure if it works in my L20-182 (PSL2XE). The user manual says:
+ "Available in four sizes: 40, 60, 80 and 100 GB." Other drives may adopted in the future. "+ Is - anyone of you tried to put 120 GB? It work? Need BIOS update?

    wooytson

    Hello

The user manual says that you can use up to 100GB HDD for sure.
I think the tough have not been tested on this notebook L20 and it seems that we can only speculate whether it is possible or not.

The problem is that the BIOS supports a HARD drive size limitation. So not all HARD drive sizes are supported. In the worst cases, the BIOS does not recognize the HARD disc.

However, I think that you can test. There is a great chance that a 120 GB might work properly!

  • Satellite L20-182: recovery

    Hello

I was invited to recover a L20-182 of agonal State after maybe 2 or more years of use of my girlfriend and get data recovery. I mean, it's all the drivers and stuff that I have to install after formatting the hard drive and set up the operating system.

My computer has a recovery function that it restores to factory settings within minutes using a hidden partition data. Is this possible with Toshiba L20-182?
    If so, how?
If not, where can I get all the data if the backup has not been made or has been lost or used as a holder of makeup stuff or something else?

Thank you very much in advance;]

Past series of laptops were equipped with the recovery CD. The new generation of portable supports drive HARD recovery. This means that the image is stored on the HARD drive and you can restore it without the recovery CD. But there is also a possibility to burn the recovery image on the DVD.

However, you can also install your own Windows XP, and then you can download and install also the drivers of Toshiba.
Finally, you can use a 3rd party software, e.g. Norton Ghost to create a CD or an own image file.

But the other user is just that the recovery CD can be ordered on the Toshiba site as mentioned above.

  • Replacing the screen to Satellite L20-155

    Hello

With the models to screen witch can I replace my old a broken?
    Where can I find/order it?
I want to replace by myself, because the warranty period has already passed a few months.
    It is a 15 "display...
    Type: TFT XGA display
    Internal resolution: 1024 x 768

Y at - there someone here who can tell me where I can order it?

    Best regards

    Hello

    You have answered your question yourself;
It s a 15 screen and generally all 15 screens must be compatible.

By the way; such screen cost a small fortune; the TFT screen is one of the parts expensive notebooks. I recommend looking for some of the second hand.

But if you want to buy a new, then you can also order the ASP in your country.

    Good bye

  • Satellite L20 182 crashes when capturing DV video

Hi, I have a problem - my L20 freezes and has to be rebooted when I try to capture DV video in Premiere Pro 2.0 (but also in other programs). What should I do?

    BIOS version - V1.70
Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition 5.1.2600 Service Pack 2
    ATI RADEON XPRESS 200 M Series worm = 6.14.10.6553
Conexant AC - Link Audio worm = 6.14.10.590

    Hello

I studied a little more on the European database FAQ Toshiba and found this document useful:

Running Adobe Premiere Elements 2.0 laptop freeze or crash
    http://support.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/TSB6401FS0007R01.htm

It seems that the Realtek High Definition Audio driver might be responsible for these issues.
I would recommend following the instructions in the document Toshiba

  • Re: Satellite L20-182 (PSL2XE): On / Off switch but no wireless network card

Mini Card PC Wi - Fi is not included but there are ON / OFF switch, led and slot of course. Do I have to install a long antenna?

    wooytson

    Hello

The L20 Sat came with different hardware specifications.
The wireless network is optional. The aircraft was not equipped with WLan modules, but there is a possibility for an upgrade.

As far as I know the WLan slot must be placed at the bottom of the device!

  • Satellite L20-182 - NO work driver wifi

As the title says, I tried all the drivers on the site Web of Toshibia and none seem to get wifi to work.

I was PC repair for 8 years and this is the first time I came across such a question.
Device Manager sees the wifi as a network controller not identified, tried to force pilots top, etc., but with no joy.

If anyone has any idea I would be grateful

    the model is PSl2XE - 01C018G3

    Hello

You are 100% sure it of a card WLan as an unknown device in the network controllers and not the LAN card?

Please check the bottom of the unit. If a wireless network adapter has been installed there should be a label with a few details regarding the WLan miniPCI module!

In my opinion there laptop not equipped with the internal WLan card!
