Replacing the HARD drive on the satellite A110-252

I'm looking for a replacement of the hard drive for my laptop and I don't know which are compatible.

I understand that I need a 2.5 "internal HDD, size 7 cm x 10 cm x 9.5 mm

However the confusion for me is above the interface, I think I understand it, is that it is a SATA interface - this correct?

.. and if so, I noticed there are SATA-150, SATA-300 & SATA II HDD, you or the other of these works to the machine?

Is this all I should which is not compatible with the laptop, for example rotation speed, he search speed, maximum size, manufacturers etc.?

Thank you very much

Dougie

Hi Douglas

I understand you very well. Sometimes I m also very confused because the entire designations in the laptop world
In any case, during the search on the net I found useful information on the compatible HARD drive for your laptop.

It seems that the satellite A110-252 support SATA (serial ATA) 1.5 G interface. Most compatible hard drives support a rotational speed of 5400 RPM and that is why I recommend buy HARD drive 5400 RPM

The laptop comes with 60 GB HARD drive. Am I wrong? I think generally you should be able to use a 80, 100 and 120 GB HDD without any problem.

  • Player card on the satellite A110-252 issue

Hi - I'm in a good spot of bother with my satellite A110-252, I bought at the end of the summer 2006. He executed a lot for all this time and I have taken good care of the machine.

However, today, I fear I might have accidentally destroyed the machine. The laptop has a card reader all-in-one, located on the front, above the hard drive and next door the status lights. Next to the drive are the symbols of the cards SD, XD and Memory Stick from Sony. I assumed the reader would be my 4 GB Sony Memory Stick Duo, but too late, I realized that my memory stick has been among the most recent, smaller, and it is now stuck in the slot.

Restart the computer, Windows fails to start (I'm typing this from my Linux partition, which I use in case of emergency), and when trying safe mode starts it crashes on 'getio.sys '. The light on the card reader flashes and flashes constantly when Windows tries to start. This suggests that the stick stuck is to interrupt the boot - the system tries to read the map, but because he crashes against the pins it screws to the top of the boot process.

Is there a way to get around this? I could disable the card somehow, either via the software reader or physically? Any suggestion would be appreciated because I very strongly dependent on the my laptop Windows partition.

    Hello

Check the BIOS settings and try to change the order of boot to HDD ODD FDD LAN or something like that.

But why you n t contact the technician of laptop (ASP in your country) and request the removal of this card is not compatible?
    You should definitely do this.

  • Loss of connection Wifi in fast changing users on the satellite A110-252

    Hello

In accordance with the subject line, but the connection seems to be disconnected when you return to the user. In other words, the connection is maintained while you're in the other user accounts, but when you return, it is disconnected and then reconnected. Hope it makes sense.

I added the following to the record that worked on my last Toshiba (Satellite 1800-921 with PC Wifi card)

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\KeepRASConnections = 1

But it always disconnects back to the user account.

Any ideas how I can stop this maddening behavior?

  • Replace my drive HARD satellite A110-252

    Hello.

I read about the type of hard drive of my laptop, but my problem is WHERE IS THE HARD DRIVE LOCATED in EQUIUM A110-252? I know that it is ussually located where the battery is located but I can't see it.

Please help me. Thank you very much.

    Hello

I have the Satellite M70 and it's the same notebook as your Satellite A110. It is so easy to find the HARD drive. When you remove the dough on the bottom, you can see three covers fixed with screws.

Am I right about that? For me, it makes sense that HDD is under a larger. Cover in the middle is for the RAM, and a smaller must be WLAN Card. Remove cover fixed with three screws and you will have access to the HARD disk.

Replace old hard drive with an SSD.  Now some of the keys on the keyboard stopped working.  Ex 'e' and 'b' keys no longer work?  Any idea what could take place in the disc replacement?

Probably nothing, it's probably a fluke. Try resetting the SMC and the PRAM by iMac Intel SCM and reset the PRAM. If this does not work, try a USB keyboard to test, if it works then your original keyboard has failed and must be replaced.

  • Can't see the new hard drive on my Satellite Pro 6100

I bought a new Toshiba 40 GB hard drive for my Satellite Pro 6100.
I installed it in the Bay, but it is not recognized in the BIOS, or when I try to reinstall using the recovery disk!
Bios recognize that there are in the car, even if it is not formatted?
    I'm missing something?

    Thanks in advance

    Neil

    It should work!

The reader should also be recognized that even he is not formatted...

    3 things you can do:
At the start you can go in bootmenu and check if the drive is recognized on the 1st controller.
If this is not the case, check the configuration of the drive (master, slave, CSEL).

If this is not enough to check the toshiba support website and download the latest version of the bios (probably you already have, check as mentioned above)

If this does not work your new drive (or worse: your controller) could be faulty. If the reader of the Moose still work on your laptop, check the 40 GB drive to another laptop or PC with adapter ATA connection normal.

  • How to replace the CPU on satellite A110-252

I have a satellite A110-252 and need to know how to replace the cpu, hope someone can help you.

    Doug

First of all there if the new processor would be compatible with the BIOS.
Second, you should know that a plu CPU produce more heat and this would lead to overheating.
Are you sure that your laptop would deal with the new CPU?
    I don t think so

In any case, I found this page:
    http://www.irisvista.com/tech/

There may be some useful pic and instructions for you

But once again; If I was you, I wouldn't try it.

  • How to partition the hard drive in my satellite M40X-189?

Please can you advise the team?
I would like to have the operating system and application programs in a partition and the data I've created in another partition.
Please can I have advice from the team?
Has anyone partitioned the hard drive on their satellite M40X-189 and what software did you use to do the partitioning?
Also, I just defragged my hard drive and the card reader can be seen at: http://www.seniorvalues.org/drive%20map.jpg
I am curious about the above provision given that free space if 52%, but white space does not reflect this and there is a piece of defragmented files and folders around the middle of the big whitespace at the end of the training I was expecting to be adjacent to the last great defragmented file.
    TIA

    Hello

I use partition magic to create and manage new partitions. In my opinion it of the best tool if you want to work with partitions.
I have 2 partitions on my unit. C for OS and D for the 3rd of data and files. In this case if I recover my unit only the first C partition will be formatted.

  • Replace a hard drive in dv6 but is not completed the installation phase

I replaced my hard drive with a disks recommended by an expert from HP in this forum, and he seemed fine. After starting with my #1 recovery and loading of each disk when you are prompted, I got the final guest/message: "preparation of the recovery is complete. Remove the system recovery media. Once the computer is restarted, the installation of recovery process will begin... Support on continue restart the computer. "When I hit the"Continue"button, the screen went black as if it has been restarted. But instead, a black screen with the HP logo in the centre appeared, with the text: "Press ESC for Boot Menu" in white letters in the lower left corner. Waited about half an hour, and then you press the ESC key, but it changed nothing. Same screen HP. And that's all - nothing else has happened. I left it on all night, thinking perhaps that it takes time to get there, but in the morning, the same screen was there and my phone was hot as if in use. So I turned it off right there. What would not, and that I should try now?

Turns out that I don't need to download the Microsoft Windows software and then struggle to find the right drivers, thank God. My recovery discs works perfectly after all.

Having read tons and tons of forum posts about this problem, I finally found a solution that worked really - posted by another user, GoodTimes81 (thanks!). This solution is pasted below (with numbers and an additional note added by me):

    (1) put the recovery disk #1 in and

    (2) when the Recovery Manager screen loads, you will get a few options, but the one you want is the command prompt (which appears after you select "Run a computer check.")

    (3) in the command prompt, I typed bootrec.exe/fixmbr, you press on enter and waited it says the operation completed successfully.

    (4) I typed bootrec/fixboot and then you press on enter and again waited until he said the operation has completed successfully.

    (5) after having done that I left the command line, restarted my computer and waited until my recovery disk #1 loaded up again.

    (6) then, I chose the recovery system to the Recovery Manager screen and went through the process of insertion of disks 1 to 4.  When the 4th disc is complete, it says remove the recovery disc and press on continue, which I did, then it restarts, except that this time it restarted and actually started the installation and facilities it is supposed to do and has completed the recovery process.
    _________

The other user said these steps solved the problem for her, and they could work for you. Finally, they worked for me, except after step 5, the recovery disk #1 would not load again. I received an error message (the black screen, white letters) mentioning a problem of location startup (sorry, that I did not write down exactly what he says). I pressed the button power to restart, but got the same error message.

So I pressed the button to power again but this time, you press F11 repeatedly until I had a menu of options. The option to boot was F9, then I pressed F9 and selected "CD/DVD player" (which I had already done elsewhere earlier in the process, but maybe it had reset after entering the command request?) and then restarted again.

This time, it worked, and I was back in step 6 above. Load the discs one at a time (note: I have 7 discs instead of the 4 mentioned by another user), and after that the disc was done and I got the prompt to "Press continued to restart", it restarted and he proceeded to load all the software, drivers, etc as it is supposed to. Yay!

    Hello rsmith3042000

What kind of system do you have?

Do you have an XP installation CD?

    Here are installation tutorials

    http://www.theeldergeek.com/xp_pro_install_-_graphic.htm

    http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/cleanxpinstall.html

If you had only a recovery partition, it's lost now so you might contact the manufacturer and ask for the CD recovery.

I see from my records that a similar case has been solved by uninstalling and reinstalling the update WAT - KB971033

Open the Windows Update - click the link view updates installed on the left of the page

Then restart and reinstall the update from here - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971033

redemarrer restart again, then try to change your product key to the one on the sticker - what is happening this time?

Open disk management, find the drive using the drive letter you want to use, change the drive letter of this to 'Z', find the new drive, change the drive letter that you want, and then change the drive letter of the drive you have labeled it 'Z' to a drive letter of your taste.
