  I suspect that you gave me perfectly fine information.  However, given that this cookie file is not on my machine, determine why would come next.

  What I would do is select all the tracks in the session, then group them, then drag them all to the right to the extent necessary to give you the room to record or insert the segment you want.  Then, when you have the segment to the right place - it's time to select all the tracks and lock them in place.
