RequestBackground startup failed

Hi, I have the following project with "Auto run at startup" checked, tested in OS 4.5 Simulator. This project starts automatically with GUI screen. Even if I ask him to go back just after pushScreen, but the GUI screen always shown without going inside. I lacked controls important here, or something wrong with my code? Thank you!

public class test02_keylistener extends UiApplication implements {SystemListener}

Public Shared Sub main (String [] args) {}

PAP Test02_KeyListener = new Test02_KeyListener();

If (ApplicationManager.getApplicationManager () .inStartup ()) {}

theApp.addSystemListener (theApp);

} else {}

theApp.doStartupWorkLater ();

}

theApp.enterEventDispatcher ();

}

public Test02_KeyListener() {}

pushScreen (new HelloWorldScreen());

UiApplication.getUiApplication () .requestBackground ();

}

private void doStartupWorkLater() {}

invokeLater (new Runnable() {}

public void run() {}

doStartupWork();

}

});

}

private void doStartupWork() {}

}

public void powerUp() {}

removeSystemListener (this);

}

}

final HelloWorldScreen class extends screen

{

public HelloWorldScreen()

{

Super();

LabelField title = new LabelField ("HelloWorld example",

LabelField.ELLIPSIS | LabelField.USE_ALL_WIDTH);

setTitle (title);

Add (new EditField ("Testing...", "", 100, BasicEditField.FILTER_LOWERCASE |)) BasicEditField.FILTER_INTEGER | Field.FIELD_RIGHT));

}

public class Test02_KeyListener extends UiApplication implements SystemListener {

    public static void main(String[] args) {
        // TODO Auto-generated method stub
        Test02_KeyListener theApp = new Test02_KeyListener();
        if (ApplicationManager.getApplicationManager().inStartup()) {
            theApp.addSystemListener(theApp);
        } else {
            theApp.doStartupWorkLater();
        }
        theApp.enterEventDispatcher();
    }

    public Test02_KeyListener()
    {
        //display a new screen
        pushScreen(new HelloWorldScreen());
    }

    private void doStartupWorkLater() {
        invokeLater(new Runnable() {
                public void run() {
                        doStartupWork();
                }
        });
    }

    private void doStartupWork() {

    }

    public void powerUp() {
        this.removeSystemListener(this);

        UiApplication.getUiApplication().requestBackground();
        doStartupWork();
    }

}

CMY, thanks for letting me know about the option of the code, I'm new to this forum, and yes I found my coding attached previously difficult to read also.

Peter, thanks for your help! I tested with requestBackground() instead of UiApplication.getUiApplication () .requestBackground (), but no difference. Breakpoint test abit weird, which goes from the stop period wallpaper app, but stay in the foreground without breakpoint in my Simulator. I suspected it might be the cause of Simulator, so it works fine once I loaded the app on my device 8320 (OS 4.5).

And I have attached a few changes here on my code to make it perfect, so that other developers can have a clear idea on starting GUI question. I put the pushScreen on requestBackground on powerUp() and constructor. This is because I will take care of the screen at the beginning and the requestBackground on commissioning. Previous coding (that pushScreen and requestBackground in doStartupWork()) worked well at the start, but it's weird if to quit and relaunch the application manual, it will go back immediately.

Kind regards

  • Acer aspire s7-392-9439: lack of default boot device or startup failed.

    Hello
    I bought an Acer aspire s7-392-9439 3 months ago. It has been working fine, until yesterday.
    I turn on the computer and it poped a blue screen with the error: 'lack of default boot device or startup failed'.
    This error reminded me that a message on a bios updated poped over a few days and I have the chance to install it.

    I contacted acer support, I was told that the update of the bios would have avoided this problem. Also, they told me to try things that can help, but unfortunately none of them has:
    1 restore the default bios settings.
    2. change the bios settings: uefi to legacy.
    3 type the Windows key + c when the computer starts.

    When these options do not have they said it is probably a hardware problem and I should send my computer to their repair center.
    My questions are:
    1. If they updated bios would have prevented the problem, how can it be a hardware problem?
    2 - does anyone know how to solve the problem?

    I would appreciate your help,
    Michael

    I had the same problem.  Tried the diskette of starting BACK and did not work.

    Here's how I solved it:

    (apologies to memory are some terms is not on-site)

    1. download the Setup file of the BIOS - link provided above in this thread (isST2212.exe)

    2. on a Windows 8 machine that works - search for 'Create a recovery disk' and run on a USB drive

    3. copy the file #1 to the USB drive once it's done make a recovery disk

    4. in the Acer BIOS (press F2 during startup), change to the method of priming of the legacy

    5 save and exit

    6. turn in the BIOS and move the option USB HDD as first boot device

    7. Save and exit

    8. you will end up in a Windows 8 recovery console

    9. go to Advanced Options - find the option that leads you to the command prompt

    10. from there I went to d: drive and found my file isST2212.exe - run by typing the file name when you are in the folder

    Make sure that you are connected to power - let it run.  It should install, automatic restart and you should be in business.

    I had an Acer offer to fix it for free with a 7-10 day turn around and at the risk of losing all my data.  It's a much better solution!

  • MacBook pro startup failed

    Hi, when I start my Macbook pro, it shows this (pictured) after the usual apple logo. I heard it's my hard drive which is a failure, the system is unable to find a valid bootable system.

    How can I fix it? Maybe utility disk?

    Greetings Andreas D.

    I'm sorry to hear that you are having a problem with your Macbook Pro. Yes, you can use disk utility to fix the problem. Your Mac can not find a bootable hard drive, thus showing the circle with the slash through it. If your hard drive is really a failure, if you can, make a backup soon. By rebooting and holding down the option key will show you all hard drives potentially bootable.  You could boot from the recovery Partition by pressing the command and R

    at startup. From there, you will have access to the OS X tools (Center of the screen), click disk utility. Disk utility may not, however, be able to fix everything that happens. In this case, your options would be to buy a program that could work (DiskWarrior), or make an appointment at your local Apple store and bring in aid. Hard drives can and do sometimes fail, usually without much warning.

    in any case, good luck to you

    I have a 4 years old HP G60-235DX computer laptop Vista Home Premium OEM factory installed.  I had been doing the blue screen of death the last 8 months.  On Tuesday afternoon, I ran ChkDsk.  It was taking too long so I hit the power button.  now on startup, a message indicates "Windows Failed To Start."  A recent hardware or software change might be the Cause. "I tried to restore it to 4pmPST (Tuesday 7/2), but he sent the message:"your computer is running In A Limited Diagnostic State.  If you use the system restore in this Limited State, you can't undo the restore operation. "Expert Microsoft at the reception of the answer took me by (attempt), safe mode safe mode with network (failed attempt), last known good configuration (failed attempt).   He said that he needs me to order a HP recovery disk because the Vista system files are corrupted, damaged or missing.   Does this sound correct?  Try to get a good HP # order JUST a recovery disk.   I was the victim of the "have you tried to fix your own computer without HP offers you a recovery disk?   This is what happens when you try to fix it yourself without HP offers you a recovery disk. »

  • Startup fails frequently, what can be done to solve this problem.

    original title: often fails to start

    Often fails to start and the recovery must be run at startup.  Can you advise?

    Hi Robert,.

    Thank you for choosing Windows 8 and please provide an opportunity to help you.

    According to the description, it seems that startup often fails.

    However, we need more information on this topic in order to provide a better solution.

    Please answer these questions for me.

    1. when exactly the boot failure happen?

    2 have had any changes made to the computer before the question?

    I have a couple of steps that should help you with this problem.

    Method 1:

    Because the resolution of the problems of system is a complex process, and hardware and software configurations can vary considerably, there are many approaches you can take to solve problems that might prevent Windows to start (boot) correctly. Here are a few tools that you can use and the strategies you can try:

    "Visit this link to learn more" ""what to do if Windows won't start correctly "

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/what-to-do-if-Windows-wont-start-correctly

    Method 2:

    Visit this link to learn more about startup repair.

    Startup Repair is a Windows Vista recovery tool that can fix certain problems, such as system files missing or damaged, that might prevent Windows from starting correctly. When you run the Startup Repair, it scans your computer for the problem and then tries to fix it so that your computer can start correctly.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/startup-repair-frequently-asked-questions

    Method 3:

    Once you start on the screen, try to put the computer in a clean boot state, and check if all third-party programs is the origin of the problem.

    A clean boot to check if startup item or services to third-party application is causing this issue.

    You can read the following article to configure the computer to boot:

    How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

    Note: Put the normal computer as mentioned in step 3 of the article.

    Keep us updated on the status of the issue. For any help about Windows, you can still post on the Microsoft Community.

    My Qosmio F20 system restore failed and the OS keeps re-booting and stop alternately. Dare not use the recovery DVDs that I don't have all the files and folders saved yet.
    Don't want to lose them once this system is reformatted. Other options?

    HI Azman,

    First, you will need to identify the cause of the closures (I assume you get a blue screen error followed by a re-boot). You can do this by disabling the automatic restart facility so that the system stops on the blue screen.

    Depending on the error, you may be able to start Notepad in 'safe' mode so that you can back up your data safely.

    Don t think that this problem could be related to the HARD drive, but who knows that everything is possible, but I think that it s incredibly.

  • Satelltie A100-237 startup fails to start...

    Sometimes at startup before windows starts to open the bar downstairs stops at the position of 80 to 90 percent. I don't know why, but I suspect that it happens when I plug the cable in the area before starting the computer. not all the time the problem occurs. not cyclical but once in 4 or 5 starts.
    Thank you.

    Hey requiem,

    I suggest you test this cable lan and that thing about 10 times. Maybe it s really depending on how and when you connect your lan cable.
    You use DHCP or fixed IP´s? Maybe that can be a reason, because if you use DHCP, windows sometimes has problems to assign an IP address and crashes due to this.
    Try to assign a fixed IP address, so if you encounter the same problem, then you probably have another problem. Sometimes it s good to check the system memory, with tools like "memtest86" or "prime95" to make sure that your system has no hardware failure.

    Hello

    Go Device Manager... Sound, video and game controllers, and see if you have triangles yellow error next to your audio devices...

    My guess would be that you need to update the drivers for your audio devices.

    You should be able to find the drivers + Support Web site for your computer model...

    If not, find the number\model Audio chip and watch there chip manufacturers website for updates...

    I don't know if the audio problem is a single chip, or is part of your graphics device...

    If you don't find anything wrong in the audio, you can check that.

    Until the listener knows not, and why and how do I tell him? Thank you for your suggestions.

    You need to consolidate your SID_LIST as follows:

    SID_LIST_LISTENER =
      (SID_LIST =
         (SID_DESC =
           (GLOBAL_DBNAME = UC4)
           (ORACLE_HOME = %Oracle_Home%)

           (ORACLE_HOME = %Oracle_Home%)
           (SID_NAME = UC4TEST)
         )
      )

    This may also solve your problem of OEM. I assume that you actually use the true ORACLE_HOME path where you specified % Oracle_Home % above?
