  On a brand new iMac, it's kind of serious error. I could contact the Apple support and see if they know of the issue.

  I must say that Time Machine becomes annoying... It is complicated and there are several issues where people often find that it doesn't work when they most need, IE recovery.

  I'd be inclined to install and use Carbon Copy clone or Chronosync. You can always make the backup of the TC, although to be honest, once again a 2.5 "self-powered drive plugged into the port USB3 can work much better with an iMac... occasional use of backup on the TC to ensure that you have a second backup.

  Depending on the age of your laptop, if you have the ability to run a recovery minimized since the recovery Partition on the hard drive (IE without using your restore DVD), you should get the option keep all partitions custom that you have created - that said, I highly recommend making a backup of the partition first, just to be on the safe side.

  Possibilities:

  1. you are not the administrator. You don't have to enter the admin password valid when he asked for it.

  You can't drag an entire toolbar to the bottom of the window. The Bar of the Addon is a "toolbar", drag whatever you want from the Palette to customize or a toolbar up to the bar of the Addon.

  Thank you for your message.  Because it's really a question of iTunes I refer you to http://www.apple.com/au/support/itunes/.  Support you should get it will ensure that all your media will be transferred correctly.  This is a forum for Vista, and many people have different one from the other configurations.  A good answer for a single person on this forum could still lose you some of your files, because the installation program may be different.  Good luck.
