  • Workstation 10 (on Linux at least) ALWAYS resets Windows VM in full screen

I can't be the only one with experience in the list?

I have Windows 8 on a virtual machine (works pretty well actually) and if I put the machine to "sleep" within the virtual machine, - or - if I suspend the machine since the homescreen Workstation 10, - or - I closed and power later on the guest virtual computer is not serious... He always goes out of the mode in FULL SCREEN mode... EACH-AND-EVERY TIME!

I tried looking for a setting that makes this "forced full screen" on every event that triggers it, but can't find anything of what is obvious that will disable the desired 10 Workstation always change mode window in FULL SCREEN.

It's REALLY annoying. SUPER boring. It causes several problems, like hide the host menu/panels. And sometimes put the comments in all its States with resizing comments office space again and again for 10 to 30 seconds (more large, smaller, lager, smaller, larger, smaller) - normally he eventually figures after two or three loops of what size to use and stops, but sometimes (rarely), I time clicking on window workstation 10 host JUST good to stop it.

WHY am I the only one to have pointed out this problem? I tried to search around and it's maybe one question of Linux. But that's apparently a hard-coded decision to reset FULL screen on a step or an operation of RECOVERY for Linux Workstation 10. It's really stupid NOT to have this as an option that can be changed. With the exception of this problem, Workstation 10 works perfectly and has improvements over the previous version I was using.

Please tell me that I'm not the only user of Linux know about this?

Hello, I have this, fought running Workstation 10 on 20 of Fedora.  If you examine the .vmx file in the directory of the virtual machine, you will see (probable) two entries resembling the following.

    gui.lastPoweredViewMode = "full screen".

    gui.viewModeAtPowerOn = "full screen".

I solved the problem by following these steps:

    • Comments from suspend/Shutdown
    • Close the workstation
    • Edit the .vmx for the specific virtual machine file and delete the above two lines
    • Restart the workstation
    • Resume/power reviews

Should work.  It will be useful.

  • Full screen does not work after upgrade; OSX hangs

Immediately after the upgrade later El Capitan in Sierra, full function display has stopped working at the end of a disastrous. Not only can I not enter or exit the mode full screen on any application (Safari, iBooks, Terminal, etc.), but in addition, I can't event begin any application which was mode full screen before upgrade (essentially all other applications that I use on my mac). Nor can I drag-finger-three to any application full screen. OSX just hangs and displays the login screen as it has not started.

Indeed, my mac is useless now, I can't do anything with it. I tried to restart the PRAM, has tried to repair my disk, tried various 'normal' things, which none worked. Can someone help me with this?

    Hello konkere,.
Thank you for using communities of Apple Support.

If I understand your message that after upgrade to macOS Sierra as your MacBook Pro doesn't work well for you. I know how it is important for your MacBook Pro to be in place and functional after the software update. Reset the PRAM and repair the disk are key steps in troubleshooting. I also recommend reinstall macOS Sierra of OS X Recovery.

    How to reinstall OS X

OS X can be installed on the same version or an earlier version of Mac OS X, without deleting your data. You don't need to remove or disable the existing system first.

    1. Start of OS X Recovery now command-r immediately after start-up or that you restart your Mac. Release the keys when you see the Apple logo. Start-up is finished when you see the OS X Utilities window.
    2. If you do not want to wipe your drive before reinstalling OS X, open utility disk in OS X Utilities window, then use disk utility to erase the drive. Quit disk utility when done.
Erase the disc is not necessary unless you're your Mac transfer to a new owner, partitioning your drive for use with Boot Camp, or attempt to solve a problem this as disk utility can't repair.
    3. Choose to reinstall OS X OS X Utilities window, and then follow the instructions on the screen.
This installs the latest version of Mac OS X, which has already been installed on your Mac.

    Best regards.

  • Reduce the buttons and full-screen are missing since the upgrade to Windows 10.

Shortly after I installed Windows 10, Restore Down/Full screen minimize and close buttons are gone. I reinstalled FF, but they aren't there yet.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/tools > Modules > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is the cause of the problem.

    • Put yourself in the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/tools > Modules > appearance
    • Do NOT click on the reset button on the startup window Mode safe
  • Full screen, I have a few unnecessary pixels from (~ 4) at the top of the screen.

During the last installation of windows updates, I closed Firefox and reopened. He had this annoying line of pixels in the upper part of the screen. They do not meet the click or right click and interfere with my muscle memory (I'm used to raise the slider as high as possible to change the tabs).

How can I get rid of them?

It is not the title bar. The title bar disappears automatically in full screen. Having said that, I discovered that the problem was with one of my modules. I have reset firefox and the problem disappeared.

Thanks for the attempt to help, even if it was not useful!

  • In the new window of the tab, I get a full screen of a site, and I do not see the gear of NEW CONTROLS TAB

In a new tab (+) window, I get a full screen of the Bing site, and I do not see the gear of NEW CONTROLS TAB.
I tried dragging one bookmark in this window and then had this site full-screen. But when I exit Firefox and restart it, it is by default to the Site of Bing - I HATE BING
I do not see the gear for new tab controls, and so I can't put it: 'display your top sites '.
I uninstalled Firefox and installed the latest version - I found myself with the same thing, I had - including my homepage and exactly the same problem - your help would be appreciated

What do you see on the page, just nothing?

Could you come back: config, filter using newtab again once and if browser.newtab.url is bold claims to be 'set of users", right click and click Reset in the menu bit

If you open a new tab, which solve this problem?

Edit: sorry for typo's fault: browser.newtab.url

  • Firefox opens in full screen and I can't do anything at all except Ctrl-alt-delete and closing of Firefox!

Hello. I made a stupid mistake and installed an add-on or extension (do not know which) that I was hoping would allow me to display YouTube videos in full screen. Unfortunately I don't remember the name of the add-on/extension.

The problem is, now everytime I open Firefox, it opens in the mode "full screen" and ANYTHING (including F11) will allow me to access the taskbar, the address bar or an other controls Firefox. I can nothing at all, but display the homepage fullscreen! The only option I have is to hit CTRL-alt-del and close Firefox.

I tried to uninstall and reinstall Firefox and this does not solve the problem. Help, please. Thank you!

I am able to use the option full screen, but it is really not full-screen. It fills just around the top of the window, I am in. I see again my tabs open and menu bar and it's really annoying. • Why large images will not open in full screen on first click?

I'll open an image (jpg, png) that has a size in bytes of 2000 x 3096. What ends up happening, is that it is initially open a window full screen, and after a second or two, this window full screen will be reduced to a window screen. Now, I have to click on the maximum window size button in the upper right to expand the window to full size, click with the right button on the image, select Image seen on the menu drop down and then finally click on the image so that it can display in its original size.

Y at - it a plug-in or a config. setting I can use, so that the image opens in the mode full screen from the beginning?

Is it with a link to the opening image of a web page or to view pictures that you have already stored on the computer?

You can check the problems caused by a corrupt localstore.rdf file.

  • Freeze YouTube videos in full screen with Firefox, but not other browsers.

I had a hard time watching YouTube videos in Firefox in recent weeks. Basically, the video does not start and if I keep using small video player it works fine. But if I click on full screen, the video stops for a few seconds, then catch up and repeat this operation until the end of the video. However the sound plays always continuously throughout the video, even though the image is frozen. I don't have this problem in Internet Explorer or Google Chrome, and it only happens on one of the three computers that I use Firefox on. I ran Malwarebytes Anti Malware, Kaspersky Internet Security, and Windows Defender full scans, so I'm fairly certain that it is not malware or a virus that is causing the problem.
I also tried the following without result: reset Firefox, Firefox run in SafeMode with no addons, reinstalling Firefox (more an another clean reinstall), reinstall Flash player

I can't understand what is wrong, and Firefox is my favorite browser, so any help would be appreciated.

Before restarting my OS in safe mode, I checked to see if I still had the problem and now he is gone magically. I did no change at all since yesterday when it was not working properly and now it's fine. Kind of strange. anyway thanks for your help, that's why I love Mozilla so.

  • Firefox does not appear in "partial" mode I can't get the display full screen or reduced display, not the intermediate partial screen window.

The 'partial screen' icon does not work. When it is selected, the screen is reduced to the minimum. (Hover displays the text 'restore down', that doesn't look right.)

When the screen is reduced to a minimum, I have to hover over the preview, right - select optimize for any screen at all, and it's the display full screen.

Difficulty? I tried to uninstall/re-install has not fixed the problem.

Hello rclacher, try this to reset the settings of user interface in firefox: go in firefox > help > troubleshooting information, click on file/show profile folder and close all firefox windows later. a windows Explorer window should open upwards - in there remove the file named localstore.rdf - it will be regenerated the next time you launch the browser.
