Resolution is lower when the monitor is connected to the laptop

Recently, I knew that my laptop of girlfriends who is a Dell XPS streched to the office and the max resolution is 1280 x 1024, what happened during the night. The resolution used to go up to 1680 x 1050.

The stretching occurs only when its acer monitor is connected to the laptop. When disconnect us the laptop resolution is up to 1900 x 1200 (finally something like that).

Operating system is windows 7 x 64.  I have the exact same monitor works fine on a windows Vista on a Dell XPS.

Anyone know what to do about it?

Best regards Sune

Well, I have the same problem with my lcd... and I discovered that this is due to the ability of the tv... or the screen, your laptop have a high native resolution but perhaps the native resolution of your screen is less than I say 1360 x 768... by that your pc or laptop detects the monitor and adapt to... but this will give you a No 4 k true HD display.

When the laptop is connected to the internet Creative Cloud opens and allows me to launch Lightroom. However when the laptop is not related to internet, all I get is error screen that says I am offline and needs to connect to the internet again. Hello together,

    I have a problem with my 5 month old laptop Satellite Pro L650 1 L 4.

When the laptop is unplugged it will pay the battery. About 44% within 24 hours.

Of course, options like BIOS "Wake we Lan ' and something like which are completely disabled.
And of course the laptop is turned off completely and not the Sleep Mode.

    Any ideas?

    Kind regards

    Stephan

    Hello

Please check if the wake-up on LAN is also disabled in the properties of LAN card (Device Manager-> LAN card-> properties-> Advanced tab).
I also recommend checking the WLan card as well.
Please also check if attached USB devices don't lose the power of the battery.

But also a malfunction of the accumulator may be possible... so it has to be checked also...

    Hello

I'm the kind of person who tends to use my laptop on the side while lying on my side. Have a 2-in-1 laptop makes things difficult when I stay in portable mode, but I put the laptop on the side. He starts from the principle I want to use it as a Tablet while it is still in laptop mode. The screen starts automatic rotation and the touchpad deactivates accordingly.

Fortunately, I know how to disable the auto-rotation when this happens, but I don't know how to re-enable the touchpad when the laptop is on the side. Help!

    Hi there @lisanvo,

I looked into the different ways that you can use your laptop to see if the function to the HP ENVY x 360 on its side in laptop Mode was possible. I found a paper called HP ENVY x 360 Convertible PC - Maintenance and Service of Guide.

If you look under external component identification on page 7, , you will see that it gives you three modes that allows this particular model.

I also found that the tilt sensors and the dock will not to allow you to use that phone in particular in the service that you want to because it's a model that allows you to have capabilities of the tablet.

I want to thank you for visiting the Forums from HP Support.

    Have a great day!

  • Satellite P100-160 resolution goes down when the 2nd screen is connected

    Hi all

I have a P100-160 equipped with Intel 945 express chipsets for graphics. Whenever I connect to my laptop to an external display, it reduces the resolutions available for the external monitor and laptop to 800 x 600 and 1024 x 768. There are no other options. I KNOW that the graphic card can support a higher resolution for an external monitor that.

I tried all the sense of starting and restarting with the monitor plugged in and out, I updated to the latest drivers and and I flashed the BIOS with the latest version of the BIOS without result. There is not even in the BIOS to change display settings.

Someone has encountered this problem before?

    Hello

The favorite of the external resolution can be chosen IF the graphics card chip and graphics driver support this resolution.

In your user manual, you can find information about what external resolutions are available and taken in charge on this laptop.

    Did you check that?
If this is not the case, do it!

  • Cannot get the resolution of 2560 x 1600 Dell U3011 connected to M4600 laptop with NVidia

My setup:- Dell U3011 30'' IPS monitor- Dell M4600 Laptop with NVidia Quadro 1000M - Simple E-Port replicator model PR03X- OS: Ubuntu 12.10, kernel 3.5.0-21, 64-bit (I know it is not supported officially, RHEL is, so I guess there should be a way of getting it work)- Drivers: NVidia proprietary drivers 304.48 (also tried with 304.60)- X.org version: 1.13

According to the specs the monitor should be capable of doing 2560x1600 through DVI-D or DisplayPort.

The problem is: I can't get it to work with DisplayPort even if directly plugged to the laptop. The Nvidia driver seem to detect DP properly, although it doesn't detect the monitor. It only detects the laptop LCD display. If I go to Nvidia Settings, there is no eternal monitor listed.

What I tried and what did not work:

    • Turning off the optimus in the Bios
    • connection of the monitor first, then reboot,
    • start first then connect the monitor
    • by pressing Fn + F8 several times
    • go to Nvidia settings and press "Detect displays" - the monitor is off "sleep mode" for a certain time but past sleeping within a few seconds later, nvidia does not detect
    • installation of different versions of nvidia drivers (the most recent, I tried was 304.60
    • completely uninstall the Bumblebee (optimus is disabled in the bios though)
    • using the open-source drivers again (they don't seem to not work at all, even for the computer screen)
    • Delete entirely xorg.conf file

    What works "partially":

    • Connect the monitor using the VGA cable. So I'm able to get resolution of 2048 x 1240, but the picture quality is bad, it's blurred. Not a solution, really. In this context the NVidia driver detects the monitor as U3011 correctly.
    • Connect the monitor using DVI - D (dual link) cable through the dock station. In this context the NVidia driver detects the monitor as U3011 correctly, TwinView works very well.
However, I get only 1600 x 1200 resolution as the highest option (not even the 1920 x 1200 which is supposed to work with DVI single-link).
May be that the docking station does not support DVI dual link?
The connector on the back of it is dual-link for sure, but perhaps there is no connection of double bond between the laptop and the dock?
Unfortunately, the laptop has a DVI - D, only HDMI, VGA and DP connector, so I can't try a direct connection.
Or maybe the driver is misdetecting dual-link as a single link connection, and in fact, it might be possible to force it to use the pixel dual-link clock?
What to try next? Please help, because so far my new U3011 is useless... :(

OK, so finally I thought, after reading a thread on some Dell 27 "monitor problems DisplayPort (really scary thread, shame on you, Dell).

The solution was to turn off the monitor, * unplug it from power * and leave it in that State for some time. Now, it works fine, if connected both via the docking station as well as directly. Also, there is no problem with going back to suspend / sleep.

When out of standby or hibernation, your wireless network connection can not reconnect if power on your wireless adapter options are set to a power saving mode. To check or change your current power options, follow the steps below for your operating system:

    1. Open Power Options by clicking the Start button, click Control Panel, clicking system and security, and then clicking Power Options.
    2. Next to your currently selected power plan, click change plan settings, and then click that to change advanced power settings.
    3. Click to expand wireless adapter settings section, and then click to expand the Energy saving Mode section.
    4. If the setting is currently nothing else that "Maximum Performance", click it, and then select A maximum Performance.

You can also set the setting on drums on "Maximum Performance". For more information on power management, see the feature page of power management on the Microsoft Web site.

The image you see first when you turn on your PC is the lock screen. Sign in as normal and then move on to the settings by dragging the mouse from the right, click on 'settings' and then 'change PC settings.

The next screen should come with 3 photos. T it? The top is lock screen. Left click on it and the page should change a bit. There are 5 images under your present lock screen image. You can select one of those, or click "Browse" to find another image that is on your computer to use instead.

The image that is there now is stored on your computer somewhere, find it and delete it.

I would like to know if it works.
