Resolution of the screen is always set to low at the start since April 12, 2011 WUs

Since April 12, 2011 Windows updated my Windows XP Professional screen Resoultion is still set to low at startup.

Only on the PC, I met a problem on the updates of Windows above.

Any ideas out there?  Another issue similare on the same PC for the same time, it's that my IE 8 is not upward with the stored homepage (my Yahoo - I keep having to register for Yahoo every time).

Hi crisbar45,

1. are you able to change the resolution of the screen after starting?

2. you receive an error message?

3. which internet Web site explore view when you open it?

Method 1

It is possible that some third-party programs installed on the computer is causing the problem.

I suggest that you put the computer in a clean boot state and check if it helps.

To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows XP by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

See the link below to learn more about how to clean boot.

How to configure Windows XP to start in a "clean boot" State

http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/310353

Reset the computer to start as usual

When you are finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:

(a) click Start, type msconfig in the search box and press ENTER.

(b) If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password or click on continue.

(c) under the general tab, click the Normal startup option, and then click OK.

(d) when you are prompted to restart the computer, click on restart.

Method 2

If the previous step fails then I would suggest that you manually download and install the updated drivers for the graphics card on the computer by visiting the card manufacturer or computer manufacturer's Web site check if it helps.

  • Screen resolution with the setting of the screen 2 - too

I have 2 screens configuration to work. They are of the same brand and product.

A screen is very good - readable and good size. It is defined as 1440 x 900. The other is too big. It is set at 1280 x 720, which is still too big, and you lose your title bars at the top and bottom of the screen.

If I go into resolution display it shows that it is recommended in 1920 x 1080, which is too small to read, but the title etc bars always set too low on the screen that you can not access it. You have only these two options. I can't put on the same scale as the first (1440 x 900)

How to make it smaller so I can access the bars at the top and bottom of the page.

It is extremely annoying and I had to go back to move everything on the screen to spare. I missed something obvious?

    Help!

    Hello

Thank you for your valuable response.

High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) and Video Graphics Array (VGA) are two standards for the transmission of video signals. HDMI is used mainly for TVs and other audio-visual equipment, while VGA is mostly used for computers. Connect a new monitor display or high-definition computer presents a picture that can be confusing to options. Representative analog and digital connectivity that the analog VGA and HDMI signals are digital. VGA and HDMI connections allow different levels of functionality and compatibility. The cable you choose for your application based on the struggling unit source and monitor, a need for cables as little as possible, or if some material resolutions are enabled on a single cable type or the other.

Considerations of image quality: VGA, also known as the D - Sub and HDMI are widely capable of the same level of video resolution. If your monitor has a resolution of 1920 by 1080 or longer, you will find that the entirely digital HDMI connection looks sharper and sharper. High definition Content Protocol restrictions can count HDMI extend advanced resolutions not allowed more analog VGA. Since the HDCP protection is activated more formats, like HDMI and analog wiring no hardware companies compensate by reducing the capacity of resolution unless the cable itself can handle. Check if your hardware is HDCP before selecting a VGA or HDMI interconnect network; That are in your literature of manual or a user for this information product. If so, you may be forced to use HDMI to unlock the potential of complete video performance of the material.

As a result of the foregoing, I suggest you connect the VGA cable to the monitor 1 and check if the problem persists.

I always run a clean install to clean any spyware etc. The driver supports the X 9 live is what it takes. The Asus monitor is smaller, I'm looking for mirror to a proper resolution to the screen (that I can actually read!). Hello world
I'm having a problem with my browser. About 5 days ago, I installed my graphics (nvidia geforce gtx 670) was last updated. Immediately after the update changed the look of my browser!
The problem is obvious with the Favorites bar and the tab bar.

    Hello

Firefox on Windows is now after display, scaling options that can make the biggest text on screens at high resolution.
You can adjust the resolution of your screen.
To change it follow these steps:

    • Type of topic: config in the Firefox address bar and hit the Enter key.
    • If the warning that this might void your warranty , click I'll be careful, I promised.
    • Search for layout.css.devPixelsPerPx

    • Double-click layout.css.devPixelsPerPx to edit its value. The default value is - 1.0 in Firefox 22 and above. Change it to 1.0 to run as in previous versions of Firefox.

If necessary, further adjust the value of 0.1 or 0.05. Values between 1.0 and around 0.5 to reduce the size of the elements. Use a value greater than 1.0 to increase the size. For example, a value of 1.25 will increase the font size of the 125% to account for the default DPI setting in Windows 8. Check the value that you enter. Definition of a value that is too small will take everything away and too high will explode things.

If the web pages should always be adjusted so you can watch the extension Default FullZoom Level or NoSquint .

To adjust the font size for the user interface, you can use the extension of theme font & size changer .

But for those who have an old CRT monitor, this table is empty.
You must use any resolution you prefer.

And another point: the table could be correct for native resolutions

  • Change the size of the resolution and the image does not change the result on the screen?

I use Photoshop CS3. I'm changing the resolution of several images that will be printed in a newspaper. So the current images are 72 dpi and really huge - for example 36 x 27 inches (size of the document), and when I change it to 300 dpi, the size of the image to reduce to about 8 x 6 inches, as I hope. But the image I see on the screen does not change. Thus, for example, when I open the image originally, it's 33% and the entire image is visible. After I change the resolution and the size of the image has changed accordingly, the image appears to be always the same and it remains at 33%. The image should not shrink on the screen because its size has been reduced? Or if she stays the same on the screen, the percentage should not change? I mean if the size of the document is now 8 x 6, it should be able to display at 100% and not to fill my whole screen... I'm so confused. Thank you...

    Gradded,

The "Size of the Document" of the dialog box size of the Image is just to specify the size (in inches) that your document will be printed. The ppi adjustment has nothing to do with what is displayed on your monitor. Your monitor does not care something about PPI. The monitor contains a number of pixels and after you change this setting, ppp, the monitor will always be the same number of pixels.

As long as you leave the box "Resampling" disabled, will not change the size of your image (pixel Dimensions). You won't see any change on your monitor. If you check "Resample", then the size (in pixels) of your image will change.

    I hope this helps.

  • The resolution of my screen becomes small when I play any game

    Hello
I own a Toshiba Satellite M30X-113 with graphics of atim mobility radeon 9700. Lately, when I was playing games, the screen resolution has been reduced and its little future. I try to set it in the menu (video options), but yet his has no effect. I then used windows to change display mode, but who also had no effect. I used to use the 32 bit on 1024 x 768 setting, but it also keeps jumping to the resolution of 1280. Why is this happening? Is it possible to go back to the way it was.

    Hello

I agree with audigex. The internal resolution of games has nothing to with the computer display resolution. Usually, you can change the resolution in the game settings.
I can t give you a good answer, why he has changed, but I m sure that the parameters of the game are responsible for this issue.

  • zBook 14 - cannot change the resolution of the screen after update

After I installed software updates the portable suggested to me, my screen resolution went suddenly from 1900 x 1200 at 1200 x 720 after reboot and it won't let me change it, not even to a lower resolution. I'm very frustrated, because I need the computer week next for visualization work and I really need the screen works well.

It doesn't let me change the resolution. Graphics and display drivers are up-to-date and functioning according to Device Manager. I did a system restore, but that just do everything worse although the resolution worked once again thing, I had to run a repair of the start several times before that my laptop would be starting another property again. This does not resolve the issue, given that the display drivers are not working properly (videos have been viewed very badly) and even after updating the computer won't start again, so I had made another system of recovery and now I'm to the point where I can not change the resolution and starting to be really frustrating. Also, (if it even starts) Windows is constantly freezing, forcing me to hard reboot.

Thanks for any help, that all the world can offer.

This looks like a lot of problems, you have there.

First thing I would say is to do a check of the basic material. Your laptop will be built Diagnostics the F2 button on the HP logo. The hard drive on a test extended (approximately 45 minutes - 2 hours) and the memory test. If these two go, consider downloading of UEFI diagnoses from the above drivers download section. In all honestly, I think this unnecessary step for most, it tells not usually defects that are already not obvious. But he should have a graphics test, if it will throw a failure even if it is faulty is another matter but when even, of a value of a test.
If all else fails, download on the phone for the HP warranty.

If anything fails, run the memory on memtest86 + for about 12 to 24 hours. Download you, it's free, burn it to a cd and the start of it. And it works simply, in case of error, you have a fault memory.

If anything fails on any diags, then nothing is most likely false, cool reimageries windows probably will solve the problem and its probably just a form of spyware or corruption of driver or something. Backup your data, reinstall a new copy of windows.

But in my experience, from doubtful, repairs etc... freezing randomly and other problems are often a sign of a failing hard drive. And diagnostic tests are not always 100% to pick up a failing drive. For the most part, but not always. So, if its still high reading after a reimage, review the reader always a potential source of the problem.

To the extent where it won't let you change the resolution? What you mean? As for the option is grayed out? Can you maybe post a screenshot and a screenshot of your device with the extended graphics card Manager.

  • How to activate the resolutions of wide screen on Satellite Pro A10

    Hello

I looked through various positions through the forums, but have not found how to activate the wide screen on a Toshiba Satellite Pro A10 resolutions.
The 2 following wires offer partial answers:

The solution in the 2nd post won't work because the A10 has an Intel graphics card, not a Nvidia. He suggested also, modify the INF of the graphics driver, but to extract the driver (SA10B2DP.exe) file includes an installer, but no INF.

Just look to see if anyone has any advice on how to activate the resolutions such as 1440 x 900 or 1680 x 1050.

  • Change the resolution of the screen HP w2207

Hello reader, I bought an HP w2207 monitor about 3 years ago, and everything works fine. But my problem is that I bought a 320 GB PS3 and I connect it via HDMI to DVI + HDMI cable to the monitor. My monitor detects the signal from the DVI input, but does not display anything. I guess the PS3 screen output is always through AV cables But it turns out that even if I switch to the HDMI output (to screen), it still does not display anything. It goes black and says that the entry is "out of range" and that the recommended settings is 1680 / 1050: 60 Hz (the current settings is 720-480: 60 Hz). I wonder that the problem is that the screen resolution is too low to achieve what seizes the PS3 to it. So I want to change my resolution to the recommended, but I don't know how to get there. I tried to do through the menu of the screen by pressing the buttons under the screen, but could not find anything. I can't change my resolution for the DVI input than specified. Thank you. Note:-it is not not cable question, I tried DVI - d single link and dual link

My son is always change the resolution of the screen. I'll put the 800 * 600 screen resolution which is good for my eyes. I want to block the resolution 600 X 800 with a password. Is there a method to achieve this? kindly help me.

Create a separate user for your son to use when it connects to your computer.  Make sure the user a user 'restricted' or 'limited '.  I don't think that limited users can change the screen resolution.  Also, of course, you will need to put a password on your account so that it cannot open a session as long as you and make the change.  If your son is pretty computer savy, you can also password for the built-in Administrator account.
