Resource tracking window

I have a few questions about the new resource followed:

(1) it seems to me that the resource tracking window always opens once a program is completed (extended debug level): even if I close the window after the next time he's back? Why is this so need and why it behaves like all other windows as the "variable". 'son', etc. ? " Http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/tut/p/id/7959 it is said to display the resource tracking window, select window" followed resources in the active window in LabWindows/CVI. Well, for me, I didn't click, it's still there...

(2) what does show once the program ended? There is a list of memory (of different sizes) blocks which have obviously been allocated by calloc during the program run. That means, this list shows all unfreed memory? According to the help, black color means that the resources allocated; do I understand that this memory is not properly deallocated in my program - puh... Unfortunately, I can't use "display memory" as it is grayed out - because the execution is complete or that the memory has been released?

I guess that the resource monitor is very useful - but further assistance might be appropriate. Thank you

Wolfgang

Hey Wolfgang,.

The resource tracking window should appear only at the end of your program if there are resources that have not been properly released, showing each individual memory block that is not released.  While I would never insinuate that our code is less prone to bugs than yours (especially considering your recent gift to find in CVI), I encourage you to take another look at the blocks of memory in the window track resources at the end of your program.  If you find something you think is suspicious, I would certainly be happy to take a look

The window of resources through the window menu is particularly useful for tracking resources when your application is broken in the debugger.  That's also when the colors come into play - Red means that the memory has been allocated just - medium gray, it was just released and black is at the moment between the two.

Finally, you are right that you cannot select "Display memory" because execution has finished - it has nothing to do with the if the memory block has been released.

  • resource tracking window: thread ID

    Sorry, me again:

Using the resource followed by window, showing the thread ID, I have four entrances: two have function of thread ID 1 and 2, my secondary threads, one is the main thread, but there is a registered suite there and instead of a fucntion says unavailable source name. This ICB is itself or by a thread that has escaped my attention?

    Thanks, Wolfgang

Ah, it's the Threads, not the resource tracking window window. The Threads window shows you all threads that are running in-process, which are not necessarily only the threads that you know. Many pilots and other 3rd party libraries create their own threads to perform certain tasks, and the CVI debugger will show them in this window. Normally, you won't have to worry about all of these threads, since they are not run your code (where the appellation of "source unavailable").

If you're curious and want to know which component of your program is to create these threads, you can probably find by putting breakpoints at several points in your program and checking the Threads window when each of these breakpoints is reached, to see if this thread will appear. With a little patience, you should be able to reduce to a simple function call in your program. But unless you have a different problem, and you think that the existence of this thread plays a role, you can just ignore this thread.

  • What is CA_AllocMemory() followed in Resource Tracking?

I have been using the option followed resource to track down memory leaks. But I recently noticed two or three memory using CA_AllocMemory() allocations that were never released. It didn't appear in the follow-up of the resources well. Then I was wondering if it follows that the allocation of memory using malloc/calloc or do I need to activate an option. I had the Options-> Options of Build-> debug level value 'Extended '.

    Hello Anna!

The behavior you are seing is expected, in the monitoring window resources tracking individual memory of CA_AllocMemory() benefits. You can consult the help topic CVI for tracking resources learn more about ActiveX objects that are followed.

  • Resources shared on XP in Windows 7 but cannot view shared resources on Windows 7 XP?

Suddenly, my network has gone from wack-o!

I cannot view shared resources (disks, folders) on the 7 machine Windows XP machine, but can view shared resources on Windows 7 machine from XP machine?

    Machine error message Windows 7:
    Windows cannot access \\machine\folder
You are not allowed access to the
\\machine\folder.  Contact your network administrator to request access.

When I created the sharing folders and drives (on both XP machines and 7), the permissions for everyone.  I have the same name of user account on both computers.

    What is going on?

Your general statement "Windows 7 has problems to access shared resources on XP" is incorrect. Yes, you have problems, but I have and none of my clients, amounts of problems to access the resources on XP Windows 7 boxes boxes. If something has changed in your situation, even if you don't think he has. It is very difficult to solve network problems without being on-site, but your error message does not indicate a problem with the username/password accounts, permissions or misconfigured firewall. All I can do is give you my usual network troubleshooting steps and you suggest to go through them. Also given that the problem comes from the XP box, troubleshooting of small network of Hans-Georg Michna MVP might help.

http://winhlp.com/wxnet.htm - small troubleshooting network by Hans-Georg Michna

Problems sharing files between computers on a network are usually caused by 1) a misconfigured firewall or a firewall neglected (including a dynamic firewall in a virtual private network); or (2) inadvertently run two firewalls such as the firewall of Windows and a third-party firewall. and/or (3) do not have accounts to the same users and passwords on all computers in the workgroup. (4) tries to create actions where the operating system does not.

In Windows 7, go to control panel > everything in Control Panel > network and sharing Center. Click on "change the advanced sharing settings. You don't want to use the residential group unless you have all Windows 7 machines. If you do and you want to use the homegroup, see Windows 7 Help & Support. Otherwise, in sharing advanced:

Discovery of plug in the network
Open the files and printers sharing
Turn on the sharing section Public folder sharing
    Plug the password protected sharing

    A. configure the firewall on all machines to allow traffic to local area network (LAN) as being approved. With the Windows Firewall, turning on window file sharing and printer as the above will take care of that for you. If you are not running a third-party firewall or you have an antivirus/security with its own firewall component program, then you're fine.  With a third-party firewall, I usually set up the allocation of LAN with an IP address range. E.g. would be 192.168.1.0 - 192.168.1.254. Obviously you would substitute your correct subnet. Refer to the safety of any third party program or the user forums for how to correctly configure its firewall. Do not run more than one firewall. DON'T STOP FIREWALLS; CONFIGURE THEM CORRECTLY.

    (B) to facilitate the Organization, put all computers in the same workgroup. This is done from the System applet in Control Panel, the computer name tab.

    C. create the counterpart of the user accounts and passwords on all machines. You do not need to be logged into the same account on all machines and assigned to each user account passwords can be different; accounts/passwords just need to exist and to match on all machines. DO NOT NEGLECT TO CREATE PASSWORDS, EVEN IF ONLY OF SIMPLE. If you want a machine to boot directly to the desktop (a particular user account) for convenience, you can do this:

Start > Search box > type: netplwiz [Enter]
Click continue (or provide an administrator password) when you are prompted by UAC

Uncheck "users must enter a user name and password to use this computer". Select a user account to connect automatically by clicking on the account you want to highlight and press OK. Enter the password for this user account (when it exists) when you are prompted. Leave blank if there is no password (null).

XP - set up Windows to automatically connect (MVP Ramesh) - http://windowsxp.mvps.org/Autologon.htm

    D. Si one or more of the computers on your network are XP Pro or Media Center, turn off Simple file sharing (Folder Options > view tab).

    E. create share as you wish. In Windows 7 I usually share the Desktop of the user and the Public directory. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!

  • The tracks window moving flex time marker move

LPX 10.2.4, running I have the main window showing my pieces and, below, the editor, which I currently use for set Flex time markers.

For some reason, in the last 15 minutes he began to behave differently in a way that has seriously slowed down my work: whenever I changed the position of the marker Flex - either through each dragging methods, either via Undo/Redo - the following two things were different from the usual behavior:

    • the waveform in the window of the tracks do not have a 'ghost' wave form which moved to reflect my drag in the editor, I did not see how the edit line non-sinusoidales wave the other tracks
    • the window of the tracks jumped at the beginning of the partition. He didn't budge from the read head, so pressing space twice more quickly got the rear window of the playhead near where I just changed, but it was confusing.

This has solved the problem of the window mobile tracks:

    • clicking outside the audio region in the window tracks, to deselect the selected region
    • clicking New in this region to reselect it

However, I still don't see the ghost waveform by dragging and I have no idea what was causing the odd behaviour.

If you have any ideas of what could happen, please let me know.

Sometimes, when the arrange window accurately displays the changes that I made to flex markers in the editing window I change flexible to bend the ground, then again for repeatedly bending and which allows a refresh of the region and flex markers and corrects the flex display in the region.

  • Resource monitor Windows vs performance vCetner tab

We looked at the CPU and memory on a virtual computer by using the built in Windows resource as well as the performance of vCetner tab monitor and data do not seem to be compatible. This morning for example resource monitor showed 30 second outbreak of the CPU at 100% but if I do a CPU view of this time in vCenter for CPU performance area, it does not appear there. Is one accuarate more than the other?

Performance in vCenter tables vary in collecting periods and rollups. I think that they breakdown as follows:

    Real time = 20 seconds

= Every 5 minutes per day

Each week = every 30 minutes

Every month = every 120 minutes

= Every year every 24 hours

Looks like you might be getting caught up between rollups. It is better if you look at the performance troubleshooting guide and see if that helps you. This is a great doc and thus covers esxtop.

  • Error 0xBFF69018 (resources) in Windows x 64

    Hi all

I'm trying to migrate our acquisition system LabVIEW from image on a 64-bit, in this case Windows 7 platform.

I'm having problems trying to turn the cameras to size large window (full CCD). Speed is set to 400Mps with the appropriate packet size. I use exactly the same configuration that has been a success in 32-bit but acquisition fails in 64-bit with large windows. Lower windows (partial CCD) work correctly.

    Everything else works fine.

I tried another 64-bit drivers (not compatible IMAQ) and it worked fine in all video modes. Therefore, it seems not to be a hardware problem.

Any idea what I can do?

    Thank you

    Sylvain

    Hi Sylvain,.

I assume you are using a firewire camera, correct? Can you tell me what version of IMAQdx you have? I think that we had a known problem in some earlier versions of IMAQdx where Windows would limit the size of a single image about 1 buffer MB (due to restrictions of DMA with 64-bit Microsoft firewire driver). More recent versions of IMAQdx have seamless workaround as it should not be a problem more. Try to download the all-new Vision acquired 2009 and if all goes well it should solve your problem.

  • Error when you try to play the downloaded tracks: Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The player might not support the file type or does not support the codec used to compress the file.

Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The player might not support the file type or does not support the codec used to compress the file. (((PLEASE HELP)))

I understand that this has been a matter of repetition and I made the suggestions listed and nothing works. This just started happening, although downloading songs, and once they are finished I'm not able to play them with Windows Media Player. The initial message indicates that the file has an extension that is not recognized by Windows Media Player.

I have a Dell Inspiron Laptop with Windows Vista Home. Any suggestions? What should I chahnge how I download and save music?

    Hey Taylor09,

You may find that you are getting this message in Windows Media Player due to one of the following reasons.

    a. you try to play a file that is not supported by the player.

    b. you are trying to play a file that the player does not support, but the file was compressed by using a codec that is not supported by the player.

    Step 1:

Confirm that you are trying to play a supported file type. The following article lists the types of files (formats) supported by Windows Media Player.

Information on the types of media files that supports Windows Media Player

Note that if you tried to play the file type is included in this table, the file might have been encoded with a codec that is not supported by Windows Media Player. If this is the case, Windows Media Player cannot play the file.

    Step 2:

Download the necessary codec to play the file.

For more information of Codec, see: Codecs: frequently asked questions
