Restart in safe mode fixes my problems. How to diagnose the source of the problem?
Drop-down menus do not work. I type and nothing shows in the drop-down list. I select something, and Firefox crashes without showing the selection. If I maximize full page, he says. If I type in the same or another dropdown menu, even when it does not, until I reduce the page.
Restart Firefox in safe MODE and everything works fine. Reboot in normal mode and problems reappear.
How do I diagnose what is causing the problem?
Hi Billamicasr
first try to disable hardware acceleration and check again
Thank you

Apple Mail only works when I restart in "safe" mode otherwise it becomes crazy, using all the CPU capacity without any correct output. Seems to be connected with caches. Any help?
Generally, if your Mac works correctly in Mode safe, but not normally, then you have a third-party software that runs at the start of the origin of the problem.
Safe mode disables most of the extensions of third-party startup and some Apple hardware, so it could be another problem for Apple, but I have never heard of your problem.

If it doesn't, try a startup repair and / or a system restore using a DVD of Vista from Microsoft
Manufacturers recovery disks normally do not have Service Options; they are normally a relocation to the factory only settings option.
Here is the guide to repair Options using a Vista DVD from Microsoft.
If a friend or a work acquantance of yours has one, you can borrow and use it for repairs.

If you do not or can not borrow a Microsoft DVD there is a download of a file ISO of Vista Startup Repair available that you can put on a Bootable floppy to make the above startup repair and that the method is recommended by a large number of posters in these Forums.
Unfortunately, you have to buy it.

If this happens, you may need to try this instead:
You can also borrow and use a Microsoft Vista DVD, which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key on your computer / Laptop box determines what Edition is installed.
Other manufacturers recovery DVDs are should not be used for this purpose.

How to start Windows in Mode safe
Read the above.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If can not start at all:
Download the ISO on the link provided and make a record of repair time it starts.
Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.
When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.
Link above shows what the process looks like and a manual, it load the repair options.
NeoSmart containing the content of the Windows Vista DVD 'Recovery Centre', as we refer to him. It cannot be used to install or reinstall Windows Vista, and is just a Windows PE interface to recovering your PC. Technically, we could re-create this installation with downloadable media media freely from Microsoft (namely the Microsoft WAIK, several gigabyte download); but it is pretty darn decent of Microsoft to present Windows users who might not be able to create such a thing on their own.
Read all the info on the website on how to create and use it.
I subscribe to 19 Articles in the form of live bookmarks. A few months ago, one of the blogs started not refresh the list of messages. Now a second blog is no longer updated. I tried the dynamic 'Charging bookmark' option (from the book live mark dropdown and since the "Show all bookmarks" menu and it will refresh the list.) If I visit the blog, I get the last commit, but he never shown in the RSS feed. I tried to open Firefox in safe mode to see if the modules are at the origin of the problem and there is no change in the behavior of the stream. I also tried to reset Firefox and it does not work. What else can I try?
Live bookmarks magically started working again! Had to be something with the blog I was following how I've changed anything recently.
BSOD that won't let me not restart in safe mode - or any mode
I have a 3-4 years old ASUS that no longer starts. The BSoD shows 0x0000007E part first and then 4 parameters. on every 4th time that I try to restart, it happens than the 19 instead of 7th. I can't open, somehow it would let me delete or disable components. I don't have a recovery disc either. Thank you.
Safe mode, tapping the F8 key on commissioning, should always be available. If not, then probably you have a pc
hardware conflict... If the material is ok, then, if the desktop pc, most likely the pc MB battery failed, replace the battery.
Read the owner's manual on how to more to reset the BIOS settings, as they return default (Date/Time/etc)...
XP will only start in safe mode and System Restore does not resolve the problem
Don't know not if this is related to the same reported people of BSOD problems after recent updates, but from Tuesday my computer does not start in normal mode. I can get it to boot in safe mode, however I tried to restore to several different restore points and nothing seems to solve the problem. Any suggestions?
Hello
Many people face this problem after the latest version of windows update on the XP machine. I would like to know where are the updates that have been installed on your computer Tuesday. You can view them from the Windows update history by examining it from the Windows update site.
In case, if the KB977165 has been installed then, take a look at this thread and check if this helps you boot normally to the desktop.
http://social.answers.Microsoft.com/forums/en-us/vistawu/thread/73cea559-ebbd-4274-96bc-e292b69f2fd1If the update history shows the other updates in the history list, please let us know the xxxxxx KB (number) updates, so that we can try to help you the best.
We hope to hear from soon.
Please guys my laptop using windows vista premium to household use and windows is not in time on normally I can only log in safe mode... Wen he lights up normally after about 30 minutes, it remains on my desktop screen and nothing, when I click to go on the internet it wount is wrong, it does nothing I hv tried updating drivers, System Restore last good configuration to boot but nothing still, actually worse... Please I need your help...
What I proposed is to understand what is causing the problem. If you start windows with a single process from the start, when the problem occurs, regardless of the process started would be the problem. Basically, it's a slow process of elimination. So, if by "back to what you said, I do now" you mean that you are going back to windows startup with 1 single process on the list, ranging from 1 to the time to the bottom of the list, then of course continue.
The system does not start normally and brings only to the top of the screen black ad askes to start windows normally, safe mode or network, etc. What should I do?
Hello Larry,.
Once selected, Safe Mode works?
If so, try boot minimum troubleshooting:
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/310353
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/316434
If this is not the case, have we not access to a Windows XP CD?
If so, we can use it to boot into the Recovery Console and to pursue the options from there.
Let us know.
Best regards
