Restoration of the backup files is not HD

Microsoft window came up with message that my HD was 'BAD', and I have to back up the files and replace HD.  I chose the option to back up all the files on a flash drive.

I have now replaced the HD and run the recovery discs.

When I insert the flash drive it contains a file 'OWNER-PC.'

Open this file, there is another file: "Backup Set 2010-11-01..."

Open this file, I find: "backup files 2010-11-0.

This file contains 19 files: "Save files 1" by "backup Files19".

Each of these files contain files and each of them contain files.

What is the best way to restore my files of the tree of which I guess are compressed files.

Hello

    Hi guys,.
I also experienced this problem and based on the previous explanation in one of the threads here I got the following article - http://kb.mozillazine.org/Unable_to_process_the_backup_file_-_Firefox

Original title: restoration of Windows XP utility gives "file not found error.

    Hello
I have Windows XP SP3 on my system. I tried to restore my backup file I had created a few months back. and I get the following error:
"Backup file is not found or is not the file you requested.
even though I am pointing to the correct file.

It is possible (although I'm not sure) can I have left my backup file a different location for a more current. However, in the Restore Wizard, I'm still that it points to the current file.

I followed the instructions of Dena in the following post:

However, it does not help. When I try to catalog them by following the steps, an hourglass appears, but there is no algorithmic activity event. So if I move my mouse even slightly, the hourglass disappears and is replaced by the pointer. Then when I try to work with the backup file, I get the same error as above.

Please help me with this restoration! There is a huge amount of data which suddenly went 'pfoosh' one morning. people say we should have backups for buffering against these events, but a pity that my backup doesn't even work! Help, please! I would really appreciate it.

  • Resumption of the Suspended virtual machine does not work, "the specified file is not a virtual disk.

Resume a Suspended computer virtual fails with the message "the specified file is not a virtual disk. Tried to go back to the last snapshot fails with the same message "error restoring snapshot: the specified file is not a virtual disk '. '"

The virtual machine has worked without delivers up to 21/12/2015 while she was snecessary. I often suspend > resume this machine virtual, but for some reason, I am now getting this error. Please help!

The file unfortunately doesn't look very promising. It seems that the contents were crushed,

Unless you have a backup, you can try to replace this file with a file 'empty' hard (e.g. copy Windows 7 x 64-000002-s100. ) ( vmdk) that contains only metadata (size = 327 680), to see if this allows you to use the virtual machine again. Note that you will lose all the data stored in the (corrupt) original hard file, and that the virtual machine will probably suffer file system errors. So make sure that you run chkdsk for all partitions in the guest OS.

In any case, before doing so, I strongly recommend that you back up the existing files of the virtual machine! Once done, it could also be a good idea to run chkdsk for physical training.

BTW. do you need all the snapshots? With all these clichés and the size of the virtual disk of the virtual machine, the virtual disk consists of files hard ~ 400.

    Questions 1)

Not because the LRDATA file is fair previews, what LR displays on your screen for a faster loading of the image and will be recreated. The previews only stored in the folder LRDATA is the basic overview created at time of importation for the display of thumbnails and previews of 1:1 for images that you have actually looked in the Loupe View or I guess that appears in the develop module.

He get all the data to create the image themselves file extracts.

If you have several files on your system that have pictures in them and you select one of them that you have not looked at in a while, you will notice LR creation of previews for these images, there will be 3 white dots in the upper right corner of the thumbnail. It's LR creation of previews for the thumbnail view. If you scroll quickly in the grid view, you'll notice a few thumbnails of images are gray, until you stop scrolling, then the upper left tile will come in clear view and the white dots will appear on the other images. It's LR creating previews for those of other images. Once LR created the preview of thumbnails that are on your screen, white spot will disappear. If you scroll down again, you will see more white dots

If you switch to another folder that LR begins again create preview images in this folder. The total number of previews created and stored based on caching of the preview you have in the catalog settings dialog in the management of the files tab.

If not, you need not the LR Previews.lrdata folder. Whenever LR is not very good this folder with a catalog he recreates it to store previews in.

One possible cause is a problem with the places.sqlite file that stores the bookmarks and history.

  • Could not open the backup files on a USB key

I supported some (bkf) files on a USB key with XP. I transferred these files on another computer with XP. I can not open them on the other computer with XP and I can open them on the USB key.

    Hello sherbrookeqc,

Before giving up on the .bkf files, look on the internet for the 3rd party software backup that restores the backup files in Windows XP. It could be your .bkf files are corrupted, but they may be recoverable using other sources.

However, if the files are empty they may not be not recoverable.

    Good luck.

  • Restore the backup files. Windows Vista Expert needed!

Help!  Recently, a virus wiped out my operating system (Windows Vista).  C drive my PC had literally nothing about it.  Then I got a new VISTA OS installed by a repair shop.  I tried to restore my previous configuration from the backup I had on an external drive, using the Vista Backup & Restore utility.  This "worked" except that he restored the backup files in a separate location on the C drive.  Using the windows Explorer I see all those files that have been restored in a folder named "Thom".

However the new Vista installation has the user name "Thomas" where a configuration complete, (Documents, Favorites, desktop, etc.), was created.  When I connect, it's the config I see (new office, new files and folders for this new user, 'Thomas'.  I want to use the configuration, (files, folders, office computer), under the former name "Thom", not this new one, "Thomas."

I'm afraid to just delete the files under Thomas I'm afraid I'm going to destroy my access to Windows in general.  Currently, I show only a user account in the control panel.  I don't have the 'Thom' user in the folder of the user within the new configuration.  How to delete files and folders under Thomas and use files and folders in the folder named Thom that is located on drive C?

All restoring the backup files are there, they show just a folder on drive C, titled "Thom".  When I connect to my pc it takes me to your desktop created by the new facility.  I need ALL the files in the backup (office, e-mail, files & folders), not the Setup program created by the installation of the new Vista.  I want to be able to connect to windows and have it use the backup files, which are located in this folder named "Thom" which show on the C drive.

Can I simply combine or merge or copy the files in the folder 'Thom', I want to use in the files of the same name, (contacts, documents, Favorites, desktop), which are under the name of "Thomas"?  Can I remove folders under the user 'Thomas' and all it's files and records and hope that windows then takes me in the files that I want to use?

I use my laptop, (HP Pavilion, 64-bit), for business and I'm dead in the water until I can access my old configuration.  I am on day 5 of this disaster and I am desperate, please help!

    Hello Reggie999,

Thanks for the return of the response.  You can move the files/folders in the 'Thom' folder in your new user account 'Thomas '.   Or another option would be to create a new user account and call it what you want, then move the folder in this user account.

If you create a new user account and move your files/folders to this account, it would be nice to delete the user account 'Thomas '.  Just make sure that you have all of the files in the profile that you have recently created/added.

I have no idea what opened the backup files when you have double-clicked, or if you will not quote you took after doing this...  However, the official way to 'Browse' the content of the backup...

You can view the contents of your backup by opening the wizard to restore files.

    1. Open backup and restore by clicking on the button start , clicking Control Panel, clicking system and Maintenance and then click Backup and restore.

    2. Do one of the following:

      • To view your files, click Restore my files.

      • To display files all the, click on restore files for all users. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

    3. Do one of the following:

      • To browse the contents of the backup, click Browse for files or click Browse for folders.

When you browse folders, you will not be able to see the files in a folder. To view individual files, use her browse for files option.

      • To search the contents of the backup, click search, type all or part of a file name, and then click search.

If you back up to the top PC (VHD) integer then you mifght consider this trick:
    http://www.Petri.co.il/mounting-Vista-backups-using-Windows-complete-PC-Backup.htm

According to the edition of Windows Vista that you have (and how useful, you will find the possibility to look at old versions of a given file and possibly restore), this could be useful to you:
    http://www.ShadowExplorer.com/
    (not a replacement of relief.)

With regard to the rate of success vs. failure rate of backup - it is difficult to measure.  Indeed most of the people backs up incorrectly.  It's really * not * enough to set a backup and forget about it.  If you test ever that your backups work/glance to see if you are backing up the good thing - it's just not wise.  Although most people expect that it is essential that the backups were working properly (not a test, a real emergency) to be discovered.  Most individuals who report failures, unfortunately, fall into this category "when my aircraft crashed and I went to my backups - it turns out _ backup _ does not and never told me...» ».

A question... If you manually create a ZIP file (not a backup) - can you still Explorer in it as a folder?

To test... Create a folder on your desktop.  Copy some files into it - of different types.  I say COPY and not MOVE on the goal here - because you can just blow this folder and all that results from this folder later if it was all fair copies of things.

Make a right click on this folder and choose "send to" and "compress (ZIP) file and give a name to the new 'folder '.  (It's really a file.)  On your desktop, you should have the original folder you created and copied some stuff in, and a new "folder" with the name you just gave.  If you open the 'new' folder - you should see the name of the folder that is still on the desktop and go to this folder, you should see the files.  You literally use Windows Vista to the 'discovery' inside a ZIP file as if it were a folder.

  • Could not open the backup file Money99 after reinstalling Windows 8

My Sony VAIO came with Windows 8, and I used Money99 on it without problem.  When I upgraded to Windows 8.1 and later Windows 10, I was able to restore the backup file I had saved on a USB key, and I continued using the program.  Today, I re-set my VAIO to factory settings because after 6 months with 10 Windows, I couldn't tolerate frequent them freezes and purple/blue screens of death.  I have re-installed Money99 through CD and it seems to work fine.  However, whenever I try to restore my backup file, it tells me it either cannot find the file or it is a read-only file.  I confirmed the file is located on the USB and it has not defined on read-only, hidden or archive.  He said: I have, the system and the administrator can all open it.  When I did a search on this subject, I couldn't find answers especially to Money99.  Others had the same problem with the more recent of the money, and some versions proposed to copy the backup file to the hard drive before you restore it.  I tried, but I get the same message.  I don't think that the USB is corrupted or damaged, especially after reading that others have had this same problem.  Does anyone have the solution? It would be much appreciated!
