• Problem with keyboard/mouse/restore R100

  The password, typing in the addresses of web etc I get the input characters without touching the keyboard. On the web pages the scroll bar, irregularly jumps up and down.

  Usually, after the recovery procedure, the device's own preinstalled and there should not be any problem. If you find that there are some problems immediately after the recovery procedure, it can really be a sign of a malfunction of the equipment.

  Upgrade office 2007, rebooted fine, saved all the files. I went looking for vista security updates & Office including. Net3.0 - pc crashed during installation. F8 to repair pc & system restore to front office installed. everything seemed well & rebooted ok so I have backed up all critical files.

  Try to load in safe mode & vista hangs at crcdisk.sys. It was suggested to remove all pcmcia & 1394 drivers, but the switches/s/p do not work in command prompt so I can't be sure enough to find them all to delete or rename.

  F8 for pc repair & while the menu appears, it is very slow to get there.
  Startup Repair detects no problem, System Restore won't work, so assuming that restore lost points (there were a few elders before the one I went to). Command prompt will run.

  Toshiba has provided a system restore disc, but crashes after language selection. It was suggested that the disk was duff, so I downloaded the ISO to a disk of vista without the extras toshiba restore & that said it is loading & then sits right on the blue/green screen of vista.

  I have a basic family official OEM of Vista editing copy for a new machine, I do build, so tried to boot from a full installation of windows (without formatitng) - this also hangs on the blue/green screen of vista. This is my first to face with a laptop without a correct installation disc, so if I format & reinstall the will I lose the recovery partition?

  If the reinstallation of Vista is not possible then this could be caused by a hardware problem
  I can only suggest on the malfunction of HARD, RAM disk. Everything is possible

  If I you would be then I would format the whole HARD drive I would be to delete all partitions and would try to reinstall the operating system from the recovery CD

  If it is not possible, then you should ask the ASP in your country for a control from laptop s!

  To be honest, your ad is a little hard to understand and I don t know what you mean exactly.

  The built-in backup tool of XP can save all the directories you want if you choose advanced options. But this tool isn't so comfortable; You can access the data on a running system. More comfortable are Norton Ghost or Acronis True Image in my opinion.

  You can upgrade from Windows XP to Windows 7. That's why you need to do a clean install and therefore you don't need a backup.

  After you use all 3 methods to solve the malfunction of the system, I am sorry to say that none worked.

  Method 1 makes no difference once the antivirus went.

  Method 2 has found no breach of integrity or something similar and rolling back to a previous restore point did not help also.

  Method 3 turned the system in a very unstable state, and at the end, I was forced to do a full backup of my data and restore the computer to the BONES of the original factory configuration.

  After a recent power outage, my system has restarted with a weird and very common Windows problems range. The system boots fine, all my personal files/folders/apps are intact, have suddenly stopped almost all functions of applications, but many crucial functions of the Windows kernel. Everything seems to point to several Windows Services are unable to start (administrative tools on the start menu). I am running Win XP SP3 and that he was going to upgrade to Windows 7, but I wanted to backup everything in advance. As I have 29 000 hours on my C: drive and a lot of time invested in my system, files, and applications, I am extremely reluctant to risk losing my files and applications by performing any type of reinstalling Windows. APPS or windows appear in the toolbar AT ALL, but the Quick Launch toolbar works very well, just like the tray button and start tasks (?! )!). If I reduce a window, it "disappears" (Nothing on the task bar), but I can restore it using the alt - tab keyboard shortcut to switch apps, so all applications/windows appear on the list of the Task Manager. A few apps is paralyzed bad, as the player windows media, itunes, etc. (I guess because the service windows audio can not not start), some won't start at all, but 90% of them work fine, except to try to copy or back up all files. I can create new files, however. I'm desperate to find a solution to repair XP3 Win WITHOUT losing my installed applications and files, before I try and switch to WIndows 7. Any help/suggestions/links/advice would be much appreciated. I'm an experienced user, but I've never met so many malfunctions based on the OS at a time. I, however, very painfully learned (years before that my system so complex) it's been almost a re-installation of Windows guarantees to lose my installed apps and files, the directory tree architecture associations.

  I'll be honest with you - your message is so difficult to read that I don't bother to go through all that. Next time consider using white space, ball or points numbered, etc. to make your message more readable. I stopped reading after your first sentence and only scanned the rest quickly.   The blackout has corrupted your Windows installation. Back up your data now. Since you have problems so much, it would be probably best is to remove the hard drive, put it in a USB drive enclosure and attach it to another computer to copy the data OR start the target with Linux Livecd such as Knoppix system and copy the data to an external hard drive. IOW, do not use the damaged windows to try to get your data.

  You can try a repair that will leave your programs and facility data intact, but with this widespread bribery, it is unlikely to work. However, it takes only a few minutes and is so worth a try. If the repair facility does not work there is nothing to do, but a clean install. And Yes, it will mean that over again.

  Consider buying a UPS to help prevent future damage by power outages. For a single computer, you should look for one in the area of $60 to 80. A more expensive UPS is not necessary. Another good disaster recovery strategy is to buy an external hard drive and Acronis True Image. You can image your system (and can make an incremental backup image so that your image is still current). You can apply your image and be back running that you were in relatively few minutes after a hard drive or Windows to fail.

  Right my PC running Windows XP. I also have itunes installed on my PC (I have an iphone 4). Upward until yesterday my iphone and itunes were working well, (once I plugged my iphone in the itunes USB port recognised that my iphone was plugged and synchronization was fine etc.).

  But now when I plug my iphone to PC to sync with itunes, I get a pop up box on the lower right part of the screen that reads... "USB not recognized one of the USB devices has malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize."

  After visiting about 5 different sites now "Ways to solve this problem", believe it or not, I still have the problem bloody! :(

  In an effort to not having to do a full system recovery on the computer in question, with this latest attempt to recover the operating system and install all updates, I started the creation of restore points for the system after each step, I took to get things running and upward.

  And that is, after installing SP3, with installation fails and then going back until the restoration of the system to an earlier configuration, I found none of the points longer existed the system restore.   :-(

  I'm sorry for the late reply to your post, but I removed the weekend baby a bad back that makes me mad.

  I'll try to put your comments in quotes, with my response immediately after, flea.

  The hard drive is 160 GB.  The car had 2 partitions, the recovery partition.  Before reinstalling everything from scratch, I've used Easeus Partition Manager Home Edition to create a 3rd partition to move the original data of C:\ drive to your new partition so my friend can sort files and keep it as he and his family want and discard the rest.  I just copy everything that I can, because I don't know who, what, and where they have stored files.  I actually found a file stored in the recovery partition, but I moved it.

  • Read the KB article.  To make sure that we are on the same page, I get "system drive" means C:\.

  • When I started to have problems, I simply started from scratch with a Destructive Restore process.  When I'm really frustrated after several failures, I started looking for a quicker way to get back to a point just before I installed SP3 and found this KB.  After that, it was the safe boot mode and using the Control Panel Add/Remove programs to remove the SP3.  And I got very, very familiar with the process!   Laughing out loud

  You can see if just the commands regsvr32 will get your SR calendar will, but I would still recommend the scans MBAM and SAS...
  Describe your current antivirus and software anti malware situation: McAfee, Norton, Spybot, AVG, Avira!, Defender, ZoneAlarm, PC Tools, MSE, Comodo, etc..
  System Restore is a frequent target of attacks by malicious software.  If SR was working before and is now afflicted, run some scans and then fix any problems.
  Remember that the system restore is not a time machine.
  Download, install, update and do a full scan with these free malware detection programs:
  Malwarebytes (MMFA): http://malwarebytes.org/
  SUPERAntiSpyware: (SAS): http://www.superantispyware.com/
  They can be uninstalled later if you wish.
  The scans using own it may also be necessary to re-register some dll (or you can do this part first, but you still have to do the scans).
