Restore complete PC - either does not start or before restoration, said "the disk is defined as active in the BIOS is too small to recover the original system drive."

I am trying to restore an image backup Vista 64 is 428 GB, the drive under restoration is a Velociraptor 2x300GB RAID 0 (about 558 GB under Windows), and the drive on which the image originated was is labeled as a 750 GB drive (actually about 698 GB / 433 GB used). When I first made the attempt I got some message on the target drive, have to be cleaned by diskpart, so I did. After that, I was able to complete the restoration - but after the restoration, at startup, I get the message:

"Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected bootable media and press a key.

And under Windows, the drive does not appear. Disk Management displays the disk as unallocated space. So I added a new Simple Volume and then tried the new restoration. But now I get the message:

"The drive is set as enabled in the BIOS is too small to recover the original system drive."

Even if the restore completed successfully after cleaning, the drive is empty, and the player has more than 100 GB more space than the size of the image. After the restoration after the own, why can't it detect the boot sector; and if I try to restore after formatting, why do we say that the disc is too small? How can I successfully restore?

    I'm running OS X 10.11.2.

I have set up a training camp 10 Windows on my Macbook Pro sometime ago, but today I realized that I need more storage. I watched how do so online and came across this thread:How to resize my bootcamp partition without deleting chtol. I followed the instructions, but could not know how do I find my Windows partition.

So I think that I have the problem described here: repair Boot Camp after having created the new partition. I did what Christopher Murphy described on the first page and this error message appeared when I pressed "w ":

"Failed to open device ' / dev/disk0 ' for writing! Errno is 1! Writing of abandonment! »

I deleted from the extra without internal hard drive name in the hope that he'll fix it, but it didn't.

I would like to enlarge my Windows partition, but at this point, as long as I can access my Windows Bootcamp partition, that would be great!

EDIT: I unfortunately do not back to the time Machine.

my windows xp does not start and it only shows the arrow and a black screen in the Middle, what can I do to solve this problem.

Try to restart your machine and pressing F8 before the spash screen Windows appears.  Choose the option "last last known good configuration".

If this fails, you can try to repair your installation of starting for the original CD-ROM for Windows XP installation and choosing the option 'Fix' when prompted.

  • Windows Vista does not start upward, with success since the closure complete

    Hello world

I actually had this problem for a long time, but I'm just now to a point where I'm ready to take a lead in fixing it.

I can't identify when it started, but Windows Vista does not start upward, with success of a full stop. He gets to the screen where, in general, the green bars will travel across the screen, but the green bars will not come. The screen looks dim and sits there, with the text of the copyright of Microsoft Corporation. So, after not having on the mound, I have to manually shut down the computer by holding down the power button. When I try to start again, told me to go through the Startup Repair tool. If I jump the repair, I just have to meet the same problem - a computer that will not go beyond the screen "green bar".

So, I do the Startup Repair, and told me what I do for the restoration of the system. Windows starts normally after the restoration.

Don't forget, this happens from a full stop. To remedy this, I just never completely shut down my computer. I left running and back just at the beginning of the day. The computer may start restart, it just may not start with a full stop.

Given the start of repair takes, literally, around 4 or 5 hours of full stops complete, accidental or power outages are a nightmare, I am obliged to wait 5 hours to get access to the computer. Fortunately, I have my laptop.

If someone has encountered this? I saw people talking about the loop of startup repair, but that's not the point, I have. I have yet to see any discussion of my specific problem.

    Thanks in advance!

    Hello

4-5 hours to do a startup repair is too long.

Often you get better results if you a using a DVD of Microsoft Vista startup repair.

Jose how to do a startup repair, etc. using a DVD of Vista from Microsoft

Manufacturers recovery disks normally do not have Service Options; they are normally a relocation to the factory only settings option.

Here is the guide to repair Options using a Vista DVD from Microsoft.

If a friend or a work acquantance of yours has one, you can borrow and use it for repairs.

    Table of contents

    1. Overview of Windows Vista repair options
    2. How to perform an automatic repair of Windows Vista using Startup Repair

If you do not or can not borrow a Microsoft DVD there is a download of a file ISO of Vista Startup Repair available that you can put on a Bootable floppy to make the above startup repair and that the method is recommended by a large number of posters in these Forums.

Unfortunately, you have to buy it.

  • Re: Satellite A100-011 does not start, a black screen at the beginning

I have a Toshiba Satellite A100-011, which is almost 5-6 years. It suddenly started to behave abnormal.

First of all, I started to get a 1-2 sec black screen when he was running. The screen was on and off occasionally.

After a few days, I could not started upward from my windows xp sp3 operating system. I tried to start in safe mode with networking to see if I had a few spy, virus or something. I ran avast, hijact, ad-aware and some more, but not found anything.

Later, I tried to format my laptop with a xp professional, but this time I can't see any reflection that passes more fun running and a black screen. I just got a black screen at the beginning and it does not start.

I plugged on a television screen, and here I have started. I have re-installed all the drivers and formatted, but all I get is a black screen on my laptop at the beginning.

What should I do now? Do you think I have a problem with my screen of HW or a driver problem with nvidia geforce go 7600? Maybe I'm missing something?

Thanks in advance for all replies.

If you can see the picture on the TV there are a few s laptop display problem. Y at - it some problem connection or display itself.

You want to fix it yourself? You can disassemble the laptop?
I mean if you have any experience with this kind of things that you should seek professional help.

  • XP does not start normally. Must use the F8-last known good configuration.

For the last three days, XP does not start normally. I use F8 and you select last known good configuration that worked. It gets old. If I try to boot normally, it freezes on Autontfs not found I have a MSI wind Pc with Windows XP Service Pack 3.

    Hello Susanherna,

The last known good configuration is created during the logon process. This means that something has changed between the time that connect us and time that shut down us the computer.

At the next startup, select instead of last known good configuration safe mode.

We want to then try a clean boot.

The following articles describe this process on Windows XP:

  • SRM does not start after you have moved the database

We're under 4.1 SRM and moved its sql database to a new server sql (new server sql a different host name).  We moved successfully to the virtual center & Manager Update bases sql data, but after moving srm4.1 database, the srm service does not start...

so far, I uninstalled SRM (DO NOT remove the SRM database)... After uninstalling SRM, I rebooted the server.  Then I have re-directed the SRM installation and started going through the installation of MRS... After pointing the SRM installed on the server vcenter, port 80, and pointing to an existing sql database, etc., I get a thumbnail of certificate message and a prompt on the creation of a new certificate, which i say 'yes' to... Installation continued on and arrived at the end when it says "create certificate"... then does not say "cannot install the certificate...". Database error has occurred. "At this point, the installation failed

Any ideas on how to remove the old certificate or work around this error?

    Thank you

I think the error message is misleading in this case and the problem is not related to the certificate.

I still think that it is permission DB / configuration number.

  • Conversion is complete, but VM does not start

I use VMware Converter 4.0.1 and ESXi 4.0.0. I have a Windows 2003 server that I'm trying to convert a virtual machine. The server has two IDE hard drives.

The conversion is done properly, but the virtual computer will not start. The VM BIOS flashes, and then I get a black screen with a cursor in the upper left corner of the screen. Here is what I tried:

    • The conversion with the default settings

    • Conversion of each drive in its own file to disk.

    • Simply convert the C: drive.

    • Connecting the drive to another computer virtual file and make sure that the content is readable. (they are).

    • Start on the console repair Win2k3 and running bootfix and fixmbr.

The fails to start very early, almost instantly after the BIOS ends. I have zero error messages on the screen and no BSOD.

Other tips, and other ways to turn on logging, try to track down why I can't get the virtual machine to start?  I have several machines to convert to virtual machines and I'm getting a little worried that I'll have this trouble on each of them.

    -Matt

Ensure that you select the SCSI LSI controller when you perform the conversion? BAD IDE!
