Restore shortcuts 2nd hard drive

I recently had my hard drive burn out on me and I had to replace it with a new one. I use 2 hard drives, 1 with the OS installed in it and the other for games, files, programs and etc. I replaced the hard drive burned and installed windows vista x 64 and I wanted to know if it is possible to restore the programs, shortcuts and the etc. of the other damaged hard drive that Miss.

Unfortunately, the programs will have to be reinstalled again from the original media (CD, DVD, download Net).

http://www.labnol.org/software/tutorials/fix-install-errors-troubleshoot-software-installation-problems/2841/

The link above will give you an idea what is happening during a program installation.

"When you install or upgrade the software on your computer, the installer is working hard in the background, write new files to the system of creation of the new registry entries and in some cases, it will even download new files from the Internet during the installation."

See you soon.

  • 2nd hard drive for HP Pavilion dv7t-4000 CTO Notebook - what do I need?

Hi, I have the HP Pavilion dv7t-4000 CTO Select Edition Entertainment Notebook (product # WV703AV). It can accommodate two hard disks but only came with one. What would need to be able to install the second hard drive? I need just a connecting cable or I also need to caddy or kit?

Also, would I get a solid state? My laptop that would support or should I just use regular?

Currently, I am on Windows 7 64-bit. I have a 500 GB hd (which came to be partitioned with hp tools/restoration).

Help with what I would need to a conventional hard drive or ssd would be greatly appreciated. I tried to look through messages of others first, but could not find anything specific to my model. Thanks for your time!

    Hello:

The only place I know where you can get a 2nd hard drive kit is that provider.

    http://www.newmodeus.com/shop/index.php?Main_Page=product_info&products_id=345

Your laptop should be able to work with an SSD, but I can't guarantee it.

I don't really see any point in adding an SSD unless you make the main hard drive, and to do this, you must get an SSD of the same size as the original 500 GB hard drive to use the recovery discs to reinstall the operating system.

Most people get smaller SSD and they use the W7 product key to activate a simple installation of W7.

If you can read all 25 characters of your product key for windows 7, you can do your own installation media and allows to install Windows on a smaller than 500 GB SSD.

If you can read the Microsoft windows 7 25-character product key, you can download simple Windows 7 ISO files to burn on a DVD for the version of windows that is installed on your PC, and which is listed on the Microsoft COA sticker on your PC case.

Burn the ISO with the option to burn the ISO on your DVD burning program and burn it at the slowest possible speed that will allow your program. This will create a bootable DVD.

Or use the installation of Windows 7 USB/DVD tool to compile the ISO file that you download from Digital River. The link below. You need a 4 GB flash drive to use the USB compilation method.

    http://download.CNET.com/Windows-7-USB-DVD-download-tool/3000-18513_4-10972600.html

Use 25 characters on the PC product key to activate the installation.

The key will activate a 32 or 64 bit installation.

Then go to the support of the PC and driver page to install the drivers you need.

Link to downloads ISO of W7 is below.

The thing is, I don't know how to access the 2nd internal hard drive and where to start. I did all of the following commands in the Terminal, but I don't really know what they mean, and what can I do with this information. • 2nd hard drive in Satellite Pro P200

    Hello world

    I have a Satellite Pro P200.
Anyone know where I can get an advance and a shopping cart to install a 2nd hard drive?

As far as I know your laptop can be improved with the second HARD disk if the SATA connector is available.
When you remove the HARD drive to the second HDD can you see it or not?

I have the Satellite P200D with place for second HARD drive, but there is no connector HDD SATA upgrade is not possible.

  • Portege M750 - 2nd HARD drive in the Bay select instead of optical drive carrier

I just bought I used Portege M750 because my M700 was broken. Unfortunately, the berries to choose between the two models are not compatible. Although the availability of a 2nd drive hard trolley is mentioned in the user manual, I couldn't find the part of the disk for the M750 caddy. I tried a standard SATA-SATA HARD drive caddy, but I get a message "select Bay error" at the start, although the caddy runs under windows, as long as you do not hibernate.

Does anyone know the part no of the real 2nd hard drive for Portege M750 caddy / M780? Or is there another 2nd carriage of hard drive that works with the M750 without restriction?

    Hello

I guess that you will need a hard drive caddy part number: P000452980
Then you could place this in the Toshiba Ultra Slim PA3408U-2CTE and PA3408U-1ETC HARD disk adapter

But you can also contact the Toshiba ASP in your country to get a confirmation...

  • Satellite A300-1J1 - how to install 2nd HARD drive?

    Hello

I bought a Satellite A300 and I see in the workbook loads it is possible to add a 2nd hard drive. So I bought one and when I opened the box of hard drive, I have not found a connector to connect to my hard drive. I think I have to install a SATA connector, but I have not found a way to proceed.

    Thank you

PS: Excuse me if you find mistakes, I don't speak very well

    Hey,.

If there is no second SATA connector on the motherboard it s not possible to install 2nd HARD drive because you can t add such a motherboard connector.

As far as I remember there are other threads on A300 and 2nd drive HARD here in the forum and the point is that all A300 using the same case for laptop, but the mothers are different. So you can have a 2nd HARD drive Bay but not connector.

I read it could be a SATA problem but in the ability to change BIOS settings are not accessible.

My missed day guarantee until it does not so I can t get it done about it.
Before that happened, as I used to be able to use it for a while, then something relaxing blue screen, sometimes the laptop doesn t even see s it.

Can anyone throw any light on the problem?

    Hello!

Have you tried the Drive Fitness Test as suggested Akuma? You can check the HARD drive for bad sectors.

CHKDSK isn't identical to the DFT and it can t detect errors on the HARD drive. Please run DFT to determine if the problem is the HDD, or not associated with.

    Good bye

  • Satellite P500-12D adding 2nd HARD drive

Toshiba UK say it is not possible to install a second drive in a P500-12D.
The reason seems to be that the "bowl" for the second disk drive carrier is not sold.
I was also told that the second drive Bay could not be used "on the model" but the sata connection is there and inserts brass threaded in the case of the scree of the carrier are present.

The Bay is deeper than 1 Bay (for the thicker > 500 GB drives and, therefore, the support unit for the 1st Bay can be used - entire centres are also different.)

    Ideas for a work around?

Sorry for the spelling mistakes - my original message would not be accepted "your message contains profanity or inappropriate language.
In the interest of your fellow forum users, we ask you to change your message.
"but no indication as to where." Maybe it's that the things happening in the threaded inserts are not allowed

    Peter K

    > The reason seems to be that the "bowl" for the second disk drive carrier is not sold.
The reason is that there are different configurations of P500
The P500 and other series of Toshiba laptops are equipped with different motherboards.
Not all motherboards support 2 HARD drive controllers.

This can be a bit confusing for someone buying a laptop and see the second HARD drive Bay, but if you would remove the 2nd HARD drive Bay cover, then you will see that there is no HARD drive connector.
This means that you will not be able to use the second HARD drive.

  • How to check if the 2nd HARD drive is possible on the Satellite Pro A200 PSAE7?

    Hello

My A200/PSAE7 has a 200 GB HARD drive. For backup reasons, I would like to know - or learn to know how check - if my A200 already have the hardware support for a 2nd HARD drive, next to the slot for a 2nd HARD drive.
In the BIOS, I see 'Toshiba MKxxx - hard drive' and 'hard drive - None '. Is the last entry in the BIOS is a sign that a 2nd HARD drive is supported and has to be put in the second location of HARD drive?

Thanks in advance for any answer!

    Best regards
    Andreas

    You can do the following:

Open the cover when the 2nd drive HARD so-called must be installed and check for some SATA connectors or cables. If there is an unused SATA connection so you can upgrade, if no, then you will need to backup your data on USB - HDD or whatever.

If in the BIOS is something now, he won't say that he is physically present.

    Welcome them

  • Discs of recovery, or vanilla Windows Installer on Q770 and 2nd HARD drive

The Qosmio Q770 need to reinstall windows,

At thining use the disks of recovery, or just vanilla win 7 and then add drivers, I need.

issue with recovery disks it will affect the 2nd hard drive because that's where all my data?

    Thank you

    LoonyT

In my opinion, you must install Windows using the original recovery disk. It is much easier and you do not install all the drivers, tools and utilities. All this is included in the recovery image. After installation of recovery image simply configure OS and you can remove applications that you don't need.

I force test but I m pretty sure second disk will not be changed, just the main hard drive so your data must be secured. You can make backup anyway.

  • Pavilion Slimline d 235 400 has room for a 2nd hard drive?

    Hello

    Please check

    (1) if the Slimline 400 - 235 d has enough room in the tower to House a 2nd hard drive?

I saw the video in this link, looks like it can only hard drive of House 1

    (2) my HP warranty is cancelled if I buy my 2nd hard drive and install on my own?

    Thank you!

    BH

    BH098, welcome to the forum.

I don't think you can install a second hard drive.  In the case, here are the bays of units:

    Size Bay bays Total

    13.33 cm (5.25 inches) ODD1
    8,89 cm (3.5 inch) HARD drive1
    * Berries can be occupied by existing material.

One is occupied by the HARD drive and the other by the DVD recorder.  If you want to add a disk, I suggest buying a USB 3.0 external drive.

If you have installed a second hard drive, he would not cancel your warranty.

Please, click on "Thumbs Up +" if I helped you and click "Accept as Solution" If your problem is resolved.
