You can't do that. Activation lock won't let you. If you are unable to contact the previous owner, you have a useless device on your hands.

  • Mini Mac does not connect to restore the iPad 2

I work in a public library, and we have several iPad 2s who lend us out for our guests to use. Between each user, restore us the iPad to factory default with a mac mini, then reinstall our applications from the iTunes backup. Since we have upgraded to iOS 9.2 a month ago, we had trouble getting the restore process of working part. When we try, we get this error message: "there was a problem downloading the software for the iPad. The requested resource is not found. »

The mini connects to iTunes and can surf the web without any problem, we do not have any anti-virus installed on it, and we tried to connect via our LAN and WiFi. We have the latest version of iTunes and the latest iOS on the mini. We rebooted the mini many times. I checked the file hosts, in accordance with the instructions from apple, and apparently is not the issue. I am able to restore the iPad on a Windows PC and then move them to the mini to apply the settings of our saved backup, so I think the problem is with the mini itself, although it now occupies about 3 times more time to reinstall the applications as before.

We've been ready ipads in recent years without any major problems and have made no changes to the default settings of the mini otherwise to update the iOS. Restore the iPad is the only thing we use the mini for. I would appreciate any advice.

What OSX version and what version of iTunes?

You say Mac mini Mac OS X (10.7.5)

The last OSX is 10.11.2 and iOS 9.2 requires at least 10.8.5 to get the required iTunes version

  • Replace .mac account shared with iCloud separate accounts.

    Hello

I'm looking for advice on how best to clean up the mess created by our continued use of our ancient .mac account.

My wife and I have had an account .mac since 2005.  Our e-mail addresses are aliases that are associated with this account.  It's messy.

My wife and I would like to have separate accounts .icloud but, if possible, do not want to give up e-mail addresses that we had for 11 years.  Is this possible?  We also want to make the transition without complicating our existing .mac account settings. For example, our children now have their own accounts of .icloud that are related to the original address of .mac as part of a family sharing.

    Thank you!

Using more an iDevice on the same computer

This mainly applies to couples who add another device and don't want their electronic mail, messages, etc. being duplicated on both devices. To start reading: How to use several iPhone, iPad or iPod devices with one computer. You must create a login separate Apple and password for anyone who will use the new iDevice. See Apple - my Apple ID and frequently asked questions about the Apple ID. The easiest way is to do it on the computer using iTunes: iTunes - how to set up an Apple ID iTunes.

On the computer, create a new user account for the person with the new iDevice. This is the user account always uses this person. He or she will no longer use the other user account. This way the person will have a separate iTunes library. Note When finished, do not 'share' apps under a single Apple ID. Each of you must buy your own applications under your own Apple ID. When you decide to divide like this you will have to buy new applications they want to use.

First, transfer the new devices to a new account as well as all your data.  Save pictures of flow picture you want to keep for your camera (unless they are already in the camera roll) by opening your Photos app, tap Albums icon at the bottom. Now press the album My Photo Stream; Press Select; tap the photo you want to select. tap the share (box with the face up arrow) in the lower left corner icon; in the film, and then click Save.

If you synchronize notes with iCloud, you want to keep, you must open each of your notes and email it to yourself. Later, you can copy and paste the text into the new notes created in your new account.

Tap Settings > iCloud > remove account (removes it only from this device, not iCloud; the person who maintains the current account is not affected) provide the password to disable find my phone and choose to keep on my iDevice when prompted.  Sign in with another Apple ID to create your new account. Choose merge to download your data.

Once you are on separate accounts, you can each go to icloud.com and remove data from the other person to your account.

The above was created by the user randers4. Changes were made to improve the readability and the syntax.

  • restore the iPad

I forgot the password of my iPad 2 and if it is disabled.  When I try to restore it by holding down the home button and plug it into iTunes I chose restore.  Everything seems fine until a box pops up asking if I want to allow 'this computer' (macbook pro late 2012) access to the iPad. I say 'yes' and he wants me to answer the iPad that still has the password box that must free.

Why this is happening and what can do?  Thank you.

Apparently you have never synchronized with this computer before. This happens the first time you connect the device to a new computer. A new computer for this purpose is the device has never been connected to any computer.

  • Can not find the search engine on the iPad with iOS 9.2.1 3

I upgraded my iPad more aged 3 to iOS 9.2.1 when I got my iPhone 6. Everything seems to work, except works more slowly and 'suspended' during the loading of applications. But I see now, there is no search icon as the first screen before the point of home at the bottom of the display screen. When I try to move from the middle of the screen, nothing happens, other than the bounce of the screen. I checked the manual to see if I was missing something: it says to do what I do. Advice?

This form is not available for older models of iPad.

Here are some suggested steps that I use to improve the performance of the older models of iPad iOS 9 ongoing.

    A disclaimer clause.

I make no warranty, express or implied, that my own procedures return EACH older iPad to a usable state, running.

Try all of the following conditions:

Try to reset all the settings in the settings under general app and in the right column under restore.

Try stories reset and delete/reset the caches in all web browsers you use.

If you use Safari, these features may be in the application settings under Safari.

Other browsers have their settings inside the running application itself.

If your iPad has been activated for iCloud, in the application settings under iCloud, to the right, under iCloud Drive, type in iCloud drive and make sure that Safari is off to save data from Safari to iCloud by car.

Also, under iCloud in the application settings, in iCloud Drive, turn the feature off saving for all other desired apps DO NOT the data automatically on iCloud drive.

If you are using Safari is always causing issues.

Try changing / using web browser third another, different.

I do not use iOS Safari too much more because I found it cause me headaches on some Web sites, regularly, to visit.

I commonly use another third party browser, perfect browser (there are others that can suit your style better web browsing, so look all first to see what third-party browser may work better for you) and I have never experience many questions that Safari was originally.

In the settings app, under the Safari settings panel, tap the Panel, in the right window, turn off / disable Safari Suggestions.

In the application settings tab general, right under the spotlight sesrch, try disable the search under the applications who really don't need a research, as some games, remote controls, apps that are really useless to be searched, etc., in order to reduce the list to Spotlight search.

Try to turn the reduced movement.

This is found in the application of settings in the general tab, in the left panel.

In the right panel, look under accessibility, look to reduce the Motion and turn this feature "On".

You should see a significant performance increase on all models of iPad 2, 3 and 4.

In the application settings under the general tab, in the right column, search background App update and enable this setting to "off".

If you are willing to do (I, personally, would not recommend this), some users have reported that turn off find my phone/iPad, in the settings app in iCloud, has improved the performance of iOS, although I have no how this feature could be the cause of such a slowdown in execution, unless it's a bug in the iOS which only affects some iPad users.

Try an another hard reset of your iPad by simultaneously pressing buttons Home and sleep/wake button until your iPad goes to the dark and restarts with the Apple logo, then release the buttons.

    Good luck!

  • Restore the iPad App via Time Machine?

Let's see if I can explain it clearly without writing a novel...

We used iBank on a series of iPads in Quicken replacement.  iBank was wonderful.

A few days ago, we decided to accept the upgrade to the new version of the App.  The upgrade has changed the name of the application of Banktivity 5.0.3.

After the update the app is more responsible, is back with ' an error occurred during the migration of permanent storage' and when we hit OK you get the spinning wheel of death, eternally.  Fearing yet another Apple HW question I made the mistake to immediately an iPad manual backup because I did not know when the last of them automatic was and I didn't lose anything else on the iPad.

The iPad is running 9.3.1 model number MD516LL/a H/W.

We have iTunes to save 'automatically' iPad 'to this computer.  We do not use the cloud.

I had an exchange of mail with the support of the IGG, but when we walked in the restoration of a previous automatic backup on the iPad, they were out of their depth.  I have no complaint with their support, they do not know where are stored the backups or how to proceed.

So, that's where it gets interesting/frustrating.

I try to use Time Machine to restore the App from a previous version in iTunes and then sync to iPad.

I do not see the backup files to iPad specific laptop I use for backup "automatic" iTunes "to this computer.  I see the list of applications on the iPad iTunes in the ' users > Shared > iTunes > directory of Mobile Applications.  I'm going back in time in Time Machine to find the last backup the previous version of iBank has or Banktivity iTunes before 5.0.3... in the hopes of restoring just that specific app and data...

... Previous Time Machine backups have iBank or Banktivity listed in the applications!  I have looked far and sought to my heart's content, but none are here.  All other applications will appear in the list, but not iBank or Banktivity.  Now, I'm stumped... Why would not appear anywhere in the last backups?

Having lost all historical and current in the iBank data are a pretty big disaster if I don't want to take the risk of ruining more by doing a partial or full restore iPad without understanding why the previous of iBank versions and/or Banktivity do not appear in the lists before the last manual of Time Machine backup?

The iPad is an ideas, thoughts or suggestions would be most appreciated.

Real applications are not stored in the backup (which contains the content of applications, your settings, documents, photos etc), restoration (backups are stored in ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/on a Mac, a backup is not designed to be readable by the user) would look to pick up the application of the section My Apps from your iTunes library - so looking for a old backup iPad in Time Machine won't help your find the app.

As to why the app does not appear in your Time Machine backup of your folder "Mobile Applications", looking for the correct name of the application (the name that shows in your iTunes Apps my chapter cannot be the same as the file real .ipa computer/time Machine; some of my friends have very different names)?

  • Cannot restore the backup to iCloud. Stuck on "remaining time: estimate.

I bought an iPhone 6s a month ago. Saturday, the screen is dead - they said it was a bad card, so they gave me a new. Initially, the restoration of iCloud seemed to work very well, but some of my app data has not loaded up. These data are really important to me, so I thought I could restore the device again and see if it would transfer the data. Now it is stuck on "remaining time: estimated...» "FOREVER.

I tried the hard reset a dozen times. I tried to restore back to factory settings. I tried to load the old backups. No matter how long I leave Restoration - I left it all night - I I found with the message "cannot restore backup iCloud," no matter what backup I use. I talked to Apple Care. No one can understand why it does not work. The guy at the Genius Bar said it might have to do with the fact that my carrier settings were not switched correctly when they gave me the new device. He has updated and was told to wait another day and try again. I did this. It STILL gets stuck on screen and didn't budge!

What could possibly go wrong? Why does a job the first time and now this? The only thing I can think is that it is a problem of iCloud... So frustrating! Help, please!

  • Choose an iCloud email address to use the Notes with iCloud

    Hello

I'm trying to synchronize the Notes on my Mac with iCloud. However when I select the Notes box in my preferences to icloud I'm prompted to choose an iCloud email address, despite the face that I am already connected to my iCloud account.

    All advice appreciated...

    Thank you

    Alan.

You can be signed in iCloud, but it is quite possible that you have activated e-mail and you have not yet chosen an iCloud address to use with mail. Notes a need an address to iCloud to work, go ahead and choose a name, do not use it to send and receive mail if you do not want, but regardless it may worth to choose an address carefully in case you ever want to use.

  • Flash on the iPad with 'RipCode.

Is this really true, that we can now use RipCode to get our flash on iPad applications.

Apple today has a market capitalization of greater than Microsoft and with cloud computing on the way Microsoft will become superfluous. Apple and Google will fight the way we use technology in the future. It is important for me to know about Apple, even if they annoy me a bit with their owners techniques-, but HEY, they are a company. WHY EVERYBODY KEEP WANTING EVERYTHING FOR FREE. New generation of downloaders think they should pay for ANYTHING. It is not a great philosophy to have. I bet that if you work so you want to be paid - mother you lazy, same goes for APPLE then.
