  • Command line after erasing the hard drive

I work for a charity and have inherited a HP Compaq 6735 s in which the HD has been erased. I have no recovery disks. Simple question - how do the command line? The start menu is exactly that, a menu. Can I go out to a command line?

To run a command, you must first run a code it-such as files on the hard drive or a bootable floppy. There is no file on a hard drive wiped. Start with a Windows or other bootable media diskette.

You should be able to get the installation of HP media. Give them a call.800 - 334-5144 if you are in the United States or to the CA.

  • Reinstalling windows xp After erasing the hard drive

I want to sell my old Dell Dimension 3000.  I want to completely erase the computer before doing this for security reasons.  No Windows CD not supplied with the computer when buying in 2005.  I think it would be easier to sell the computer if Windows was installed, but do not know how to recover Windows on the computer after erasing.  So if I erase the HD what would be my best option to get Windows on it:

What I have to buy Windows XP?

Is it possible to download Windows from Dell on CDs for free because they CD did not come with the system?

Or other suggestions to divest itself of all data without erasing the HD?

    Thank you.

If you live in the United States, you can ask the Dell XP by completing this form. Dell peut charge you for the disk.

  • Relocation of recovery vista after erasing the hard drive with DBan

Pavilion dv6707us laptop, Vista Home Premium 32 bit

I deleted the whole hardrive, including the recovery partition D with DBan.  Unfortunately, the recovery disks that I made will not restore Vista.  They work up to "Restoring presets.  Is there anyway to make this work without the recovery partition D?  If I order at hp recovery disks they will give me a full recovery or will I have the same problem without partition D?

    Thank you

recovery media ordered from HP has nothing to do with the partition d. recovery media a full OS, drivers, and applications. This HP support removes all partitions and restore the device to factory settings (no data for sure).

If you have trouble using media, created by you, please order one at HP.

    It will be useful.

  • System Restore to factory settings after replacing the hard drive?

I have a Lenovo ThinkCentre A52, which recently required a change of hard disk and the removal of a defective RAM 1 GB stick. When I bought my computer, it came with Windows XP Pro and the new hard drive that the updated computer has Windows XP Pro, but it seems to be missing a large part of the software (drivers and programs) that originally came with the computer, and even if I downloaded and installed most of them since the Lenovo Web site There are still some problems related to software that I can't fix. Ideally, I'd like to go back just to restore the system to the factory settings using the ThinkVantage Rescue and Recovery program, but I don't know if it will work. All programs and the necessary drivers will be installed again, even if my current hard drive is not 'knows' thereon? I need to get a Windows XP Pro installation CD, if I want to keep my operating system? Also, is it important that my current hard drive is half the previous, or that I now have half as much RAM?

    Thank you

After replacing the hard drive, the only way to restore it to the State of the plant is using the Lenovo installation diskettes. You can also ask if Lenovo has a solution to your problem without having to reinstall Windows.

You can download Lenovo drivers if they are not included on the installation disk. The size of your hard drive does not matter.

I have created a backup image and restore full of my computer after getting the hard drive errors via the MS utility on a USB key.  I replaced the hard drive internal and restored Vista using recovery disks.  Now when I want to restore the backup, Windows is not recognize files of backup/recovery.  What am I supposed to do?

    Hello

Since you have replaced the hard drive and you try to install Windows on the new drive. Whenever the hard drive is replaced, the operating system must be reinstalled and restore all data you have saved

You can check out the link and check if it helps:

  • wipedrive tool allows to erase the hard drive

    Hello

is there problem may occur if I erase all the % of files100 (the system vista, retrieving files... files) from the hard drive by wipedrive tool

    ?? and install windows 7

    I have a compaq presario V6000

Just use the W7 installation disc to clean the disc. I always recommend what he got rid if Vista entirely. In this way there is no chance of getting errors because you're from "unallocated space" as if you put in a new hard drive of bran. Do the usual and create recovery disks in case you go back to Vista and of course to back up all your personal stuff to be reinstalled later.

There is also a file on drive "C" called SwSetup which you must save it. Here are your drivers for Vista which will work in W7 and most importantly is the software that will not have the W7 installation disc, such as Microsoft Works, and I'm guessing that Cyberlink DVD suite. It is a very useful file.

Once, you save all the things I said, then go for the clean installation. You will have less problems in the end.

Here's a good tutorial on how to do a clean install of Cheryl. There a screen shot too.

    http://pcsupport.about.com/od/OperatingSystems/SS/Windows-7-clean-install-part-1.htm

After installation, the first driver you want to load is your video card driver.

I took a quick glance and there is no drivers for your model in W7, but like I said your Vista drivers should work fine.

If this does not work you can always roll back to Vista with your recovery of the disc that I asked you to do.

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c00809678

Just to answer your question, I wouldn't wipe drive. In fact, it is not clean the disk. Filled it with a bunch of useless information so no one can retrieve what was already on the disk before. Wipe drive is used if you ever decide to take your computer to the recycling depot.

Who does not resemble a very stable place to put a new OS if you use Wipe drive.

  • missing hal.dll message after removing the hard drive

Original title:Ok, I had the same problem on my hard drive missing hal.dll. My question is what windows xp writes the cmos on my computer?

OK, I had the same problem on my hard drive missing hal.dll. My question is what windows xp writes the cmos on my computer? The reason why I ask, is that I physically removed the hard drive from the computer and then start the computer I get the same message hal.dll lack. Since the hard drive is not installed, the only place where this message comes's cmos or bios of the computer.
I know it seems odd, but I couldn't believe it when I saw it after removing the hard drive. It used to be with older computers and Windows 95 or 98 when you took a hard drive that wasn't working and installed with one that works from a different computer, you could swap out and boot the computer and make a few changes to some drivers if you.

So what is windows xp write to the memory cmos on my computer?

    > Ok, I had the same problem on my hard drive missing hal.dll.

The same as what? If you reference another thread, please include a link to it.

    > My question is what windows xp writes the cmos on my computer?

It is not write anything for her at all.

    > Lack of the reason why I ask this is that I physically removed the hard drive from the computer and then start the computer I get the same message hal.dll.

I think that you're wrong. I would like to say two things happening:

    1. you have more than one hard drive and the problematic drive was not removed, or

    2. you deleted something other than a hard drive.

Do you have a CD in your CD drive by chance?

What is the brand and model of your PC? Are you able to get into the BIOS?

  • How can I reinstall windows 7 after replacing the hard drive?

How can I reinstall windows 7 after replacing the hard drive? do I have to call microsoft or I can retrieve it somehow to the old hard drive?

Well, that certainly puts a different point of view on this subject.

There are data recovery services that can recover data from disks that have suffered from various types of failures. However, they are quite expensive. Unless the data is particularly useful, it is generally not useful.

If your Windows 7 is an OEM version, installed on the computer when you bought it, the manufacturer could have a recovery disk on sale. If it was a retail copy and you always have the appropriate product/serial number, you can get a DVD of their team of parts replacement.
