RMAN level 0 and level 1/database tablespace relations

If I take an incremental backup of level 0 of an entire database and then take a level 0 of an individual tablespace, an incremental backup of level 1 of this tablespace is refers to additional membership 0 the entire database or storage space? If I change the order of the level 0 backup, does it change the reference level of 1 storage space?

I assumed that what I ask,'s done it level 1 differential reference the last level 0 regardless of whether it is the entire database or just the tablespace or a level 1 still reference it's own level 0?

Also, if I take a level 0 of the data base Sunday night, then a level 1 of the database every night after that, as well as several levels 1 to a tablespace throughout each day, basic level of data Tuesday evening 1 will include all levels of tablespace to Monday 1?

I can't find documentation oracle on these relationships.

'Database' and 'Space' are logical groupings for our comfort.

RMAN follows the data file level backups. Therefore, a backup of level 0 of a data file or a group of data files (storage space is a group of data files) using the most recent backup of this data file / group replacing a previous level 1 of the same data file backup / group.

You could take the backups at level 0 of the database weekly and select level or level 1 backups of some files of data every day (e.g. datafiles 1 to 10 on Monday, 11 to 20 on Tuesday...) and Oracle will follow backups of data files.
When you perform a BACKUP or a RESTORE to a tablespace, data files are backed up at different times, Oracle restores the correct image to each data file and apply the recovery using the ArchiveLogs.
(Don't forget: even if you have a tablespace of only 2 data files and you backups tablespace, 2 data files can have different start times for their backups if you have 1 by backupset datafile!)

  • RMAN LEVEL BACKUP INCREMENTAL 0 AND 1 OF CUMULATIVE LEVEL

    Dear friends

    This is Eliza, I need some clarification, your suggestion will help me more...

    Currently I am working in RMAN backup and restore, recovery and I need to take the extra SIZE 0 AND LEVEL 1 CUMULATIVE

    I know something about what level rman incremental 0 and level 1 cumulative can do is, first I have to take the level 0 and then level 1 respectively.

    As follows

    SUNDAY: LEVEL 0 CUMULATIVE

    MONDAY - SATURDAY: LEVEL 1 CUMULATIVE

    SUNDAY: LEVEL 0 CUMULATIVE (repetition of this cycle)

    MY QUESTION IS

    Can I use after an order to take INCREMENTIELLE LEVEL 1 CUMULATIVE backup of,

    CUMULATIVE DATABASE INCREMENTAL LEVEL 1; # has changed since the level 0 blocks

    But, if I want to take CUMULATIVE INCREMENTAL level 0 BACKUP, that is me I want to use the following,

    INCREMENTAL LEVEL 0 BACKUP CUMULATIVE BASIS;

    (GOLD)

    DATABASE INCREMENTAL LEVEL 0 BACKUP;

    (GOLD)

    Suggest me your valuable idea. Thanks in advance.

    Hello

    I think that this CUMULATIVE or incremental level 0 backup specification makes no sense so INCREMENTAL level 0 BACKUP database; = INCREMENTAL CUMULATIVE 0 DATA LEVEL;

  • Backup and restore database, tablespace

    My oracle's 10g.
    I'm new to rman utility. When I tested the backup of database and a tablespace before making certain changes made to the data (e.g. Add folders to other tables or change or delete some records) and did surgery recovery and the restoration of the database and a tablespace after these changes. But I found that these changes have remained there.

    My directions of test:
    SQL > shutdown immediate;
    SQL > bootable media.
    RMAN > backup database;
    RMAN > backup all archivelog entry delete;
    SQL > alter database open;
    SQL > alter tablespace ABC offline immediate.
    RMAN > backup tablespace ABC include current controlfile;
    SQL > alter tablespace ABC Online.
    = SOME CHANGES TO THE DATABASE BY INSERTING/UPDATING / DELETING =.
    SQL > shutdown immediate;

    RMAN > restore database;
    RMAN > restore database;
    SQL > alter database open;
    SQL > alter tablespace ABC offline immediate.
    RMAN > restore tablespace ABC;
    RMAN > recover tablespace ABC;

    = CHANGES OF DATA SHOULD BE LOST. BUT NOW THAT ILS IS REST. WHY? ====

    Also, what is the difference between the database backup/restore/recovery and backup/restore/recovery tablespace? Or when is the time to use them?

    More practical is if I made a backup of database, at 10.00 and 3 backups tablespace ABC at 10:00 12:00, 14:00.
    Today at 20:00, I have 2 tasks:
    1. restore tablespace ABC 12:00 the status and create a new tablespace DEF, which is the same in ABC 14:00;
    2 put all the data of the ABC from 10:00 tablespace to another oracle newly installed in a newly installed machine.

    Can someone tell me how I can finish these tasks? Thank you very much!

    Hello

    Sorry for not being clear enough.

    This means that I can only recover data to the tablespace recovery state?

    Restore/recovery tablespace controls may lead to a full recovery.

    but I want only to restore a space at the beginning everything while keeping others more recent. What do you suggest me?

    If you want to make a point in time recovery for a subset of tablespaces, you must run a TSPITR.
    To do this, follow the link in my previous post.

    What you said really works. These changes losts. But I encounter another problem when retried the delivery and received a msg "RMAN-20207: until THE MOMENT or.
    RECOVERY WINDOW is before the RESETLOGS time' to the command "restore." What should I do now?

    By the , you have created a new incarnation of the database.
    If you want to restore to a point in time of the resetlogs before you change the incarnation (check first with: INCARNATION of the rman LIST).
    To restore an incarnation previous use:
    < reset="" database="" to="" incarnation...;="">

  • Problem with the archive log when you use RMAN for backup and restore (11g 2)

    Hello world
    Please help me solve this problem.
    I'm just beginner in Oracle Database (11 g 2). Today, I had a problem, I tried to back up and restore my db by RMAN. I delete all the files in /u01/app/oracle/oradata/orcl / * , then I restore them easily, but the point is I have a table, I can restore Hungarian, but cannot restore anything ranks in it (something wrong with step restore database). I'll tell the detail below.
    -First, I create a 'Day' with command table create table hr.day (varchar (20)) day. Then I backup complete by this:
    run{
    allocate channel bkp device type DISK FORMAT '/u01/backup/DB_FULL_%d_%T_s%s_p%p' ;
    backup as compressed backupset incremental level 0 tag 'DB_FULL' database include current controlfile;
    backup as compressed backupset tag 'ARCL_BKP_FULL' archivelog all delete input;
    crosscheck archivelog all;
    crosscheck backup;
    delete noprompt obsolete;
    release channel bkp;
    }

    D ' other hand, I have insert 'Monday' to table. then do an incremental backup by this:

    run{
    allocate channel bkp device type DISK FORMAT '/u01/backup/DB_INC_%d_%T_s%s_p%p' ;
    backup as compressed backupset incremental level 1 tag 'DB_INC' database include current controlfile;
    backup as compressed backupset tag 'ARCL_BKP_INC' archivelog all delete input;
    crosscheck archivelog all;
    crosscheck backup;
    delete noprompt obsolete;
    release channel bkp;
    }

    Repeat 7 times (Monday-> Saturday). And I got these files:

    [oracle@rac ~]$ ls -l /u01/backup/
    total 400280

    If i ignore it and open the database, just my table in full backup come back but rows was not restored. I'm sure the problem is my archive log backup but i don't know how to solve it. Plz help me.

    Sorry for a long post.

    > 1 and from the 1205841 SNA sequence

    The SCN that indicates Oracle is above the range of SNA that you have in the ArchiveLog backups for sequence 1 to 15 (15 sequence ends at 1205840).

    The message

    channel ORA_DISK_1: restoring archives Journal

    Archives journal thread = 1 sequence = 15

    channel ORA_DISK_1: backup/u01/backup/DB_INC_ORCL_20160120_s117_p1 piece reading

    channel ORA_DISK_1: piece handle = / u01/backup/DB_INC_ORCL_20160120_s117_p1 tag = ARCL_BKP_INC

    indicates that he has restored the sequence up to 15

    You can check the log file alert database instance for messages on the fact of recovery.

    He is now asking sequence #1 it seems you did a RESETLOGS after sequence #15.

    Note: If you have NOT issued a COMMIT after the line is INSERTED in the table 'Day', the recovery of the database will have no * transactions * to retrieve.  An uncomitted transaction is cancelled.

  • Difference between the backup of database to copy and backup of database

    Hi all

    Kindly differentiate between backup database copy and backup of database.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

    With image backups, you have the option of two things:

    1. use these as rman backup and ask to restore them to the desired location (the same that we do in restoration of backupsets).

    2. tell the database to use these files.  This is possible by ' switch database copy. This is useful when the recovery will take a long time.  This allows you to move the users directly to the backup that you restore to the original location.  In other words, your database remains open with the users who access the copy.

    in both cases, you would:

    1 restore a controlfile

    2. the backup catalog

    RMAN > catalogue start with noprompt "/ backup location, in this case copy data files."

    3A. If you want to restore the database, so you might as same as usual:

    run

    {

    Set up until...

    newname Set...

    restore the database...

    recover the database...

    }

    ALTER database open resetlogs;

    3B. If you want to "switch" to the backup, you must run:

    switch database to copy;

    recover the database up to the...

    ALTER database open resetlogs;

    NOTE: before open resetlogs, remember that your online log file location is valid for the server on which you are restoring.  See:

    Select Member from v$ logfile;

    Thank you

  • [RMAN BEGINNER] Backup and recovery

    Hi all

    Can I ask a question?

    1. they are the same ARCHIVELOG = newspapers archived DB log?

    2. can I use the tracking order cross server

    #Server 1

    RMAN > run {}

    immediate stop

    Startup mount

    allocate channels disk1 disk format='d:\backup\ora_d%_%T.bak'

    backup current controlfile

    database backup and archiving log

    }

    # Server 2

    RMAN > run {}

    allocate channels disk1 disk format='d:\backup\ora_d%_%T.bak'

    restore database

    output channel disk1

    }

    I have to create before catalog?

    (1) logs archiving is essentially a copy of your recovery logs, once it is filled.  Archivelog and db archivelog terms can be used interchangeably, but essentially in a database there is a redo log, then a newspaper archive.

    Archives Redo Log Management

    (2) what do you mean cross server?  Tell you backup a database on a server and then restore to another?

    If so then Yes, you can back up a database on a single server and restore to another.  If your database is in archivelog mode, then you don't need to stop the database first.

    http://docs.Oracle.com/CD/B19306_01/backup.102/b14191/rcmrecov.htm#i1007814

    Before you launch your start command to restore your database in nomount mode, restore the controlfile, set up the database and then do your restore, recover and then open resetlogs:

    SQL > startup nomount

    RMAN > restore controlfile from "xyz";

    SQL > bootable media.

    RMAN:

    Run {}

    restore the database;

    recover the database;

    ALTER database open resetlogs;

    }

    (3) you do not need a catalog of recovery, RMAN will use the controlfile.  However, if you have several database in your environment, you can use a recovery catalog.

  • RMAN DUPLICATE: Use backup or CURRENT database

    Hi all

    I have a database of 32 TB, and about what I've experienced so far, using backup to duplicate the database is similar to the use of the command to RESTORE and RECOVERY manually.

    If I use the option of DATABASE ACTIVE, then I should be concerned about the missing log files?

    Hereby, I mean, text source and target are in ARCHIVELOG MODE anyway.

    Thank you

    To answer your original question, yes you are worried for your missing log file.

    RMAN automatically copies the file to the server in the destination host settings, start the auxiliary instance with server settings file, copy all database files needed and archived redo logs over the network to the destination host and recovers the database.

    If your copy of 32 TB on the network would take more than 1 day (what is your strategy of retention according to your other thread), so what, you won't be able to recover the database.

    And you must mark this thread as a response and continue in your original thread.

    But every time I had this type of corruption archivelog
    But when I validate the archives (archivelog Validate all) they are [OK]

    After that if I give this command means...

    RMAN > backup from the list of database;
    I get the error I pasted at the earliest.

    Thanks in advance.

    If you do not have a catalog, you need not to save the database. Rely you only on the target database controlfile. If you use a catalog, you must save the target database, but only once. If you sometimes use a catalog - and sometimes not--the appropriate command is RESYNC (although in many cases RMAN automatically done).

  • backup and restore of database

    Hello

    I did a backup and restore of database and now I need to restore the database again.
    For the backup of database I've used the following:
    SQL
    {stop immediately;
    bootable media;
    ALTER database archivelog;
    }
    database altered
    RMAN

    backup database;

    to restore the database, I used:

    RMAN
    {stop immediately;
    bootable media;
    until ' to_date (March 26, 2009 09:15:11 ',' dd-mm-yyyy hh24:mi:ss') ";
    restore the database;
    recover the database;
    }

    SQL > alter database open resetlogs;

    And as I said I would now like to restore this backup once again.
    Can someone help me with this?

    Thank you

    You could adapt the following script by changing the dbid, location of the control file and the incarnation of the database:

    shutdown abort;
    startup nomount;
    set dbid=2557871973;
    restore controlfile from 'D:\BACKUP\RMAN\C-2557871973-20090326-00';
    alter database mount;
    reset database to incarnation 8;
    run
    {
    set until time "to_date('26-03-2009 09:15:11', 'dd-mm-yyyy hh24:mi:ss')";
    restore database;
    recover database;
    }
    alter database open resetlogs;

    I have successfully run this script several times with Oracle XE (10.2.0.1).

    Please read the documentation of the requirement for Oracle APEX 5. Ensure that your environment meets these requirements. Upgrade your oracle database or other software if necessary components and then you can go right 4.1/4.2 to 5.0 update according to the above-discussed upgrade strategies in the above discussions.

    Reference: https://docs.oracle.com/cd/E59726_01/install.50/e39144/pre_require.htm#HTMIG376

    You should go for upgrade of the Oracle APEX of 4.1 to 5.x. Regression test your applications to remove if any errors introduced by upgrade. The kickoff of a new project to migrate your applications to universal theme.
