  Hi Robert - Michaela moved your post to the relevant forum but it would also be useful to know what Windows operating system you have installed because it affects the performance of DVD - that is, W8.1 and 10 do support not the DVD and you must also install the software - VLC media player is such a player; widely recommended and available for free download, but (as always) take care with third-party software.

  Otherwise a good optical quality USB Drive with the features you described should well work for you. Check out online reviews with special attention for the poor to see if there are recurring problems, you want to avoid. I hope that it is of little help... Ric.

  The file is undocumented, often one sign revealing that it may be a virus or other such pests.  Your AV program probably deleted the pest, but failed to remove its startup entries.

  If you are comfortable editing the registry, you can search for it and delete all references to it.  If you are wary about editing the registry, you can use Msconfig to see if the entry is present in the Startup tab and disable, to launch the utility simply enter msconfig in the run from the start menu.

  If Msconfig does not find the entry using SysInternals Autoruns to find and disable it.  Autoruns is a very complete utility which will show all the startup items, be very careful with it and do not disable the items that you are unsure as you can paralyze the machine and make it unbootable, if you disable the essential components.

  Desktop HP has worked for more than 3 years, using the same password to logon and suddenly stopped to accept it. I can't click to open the office, or go beyond the connection password window and have pushed a reset Assistant asking a password like reset disk: h-i-j-or k. The password appears HP-administrator as the user name. I run windows vista Home premium 32-bit of an original HP upgrade download in January 2007.  What is the problem and can avoid a complete reinstallation of vista that I was suggested to do?

But have you lucky to have obtained 3 years out of the machine for the initial cost. Put more money into it push your luck.

  Have you tried clicking on the icon in the Mac App Store to see what is happening? In the past, the Mac App Store will say that version will not run on your operating system & offer to download the latest compatible version. I don't think this has changed, but I don't have a Mac in El Capitan to try.
