Root of UCS c220 m3

We can log in as root on a UCS c220m3? or any UCS c

Mike,

The defult username is 'admin' (default password is the password) for ALL our series C servers but you can also create an account with the username 'root' in which case it is a question of maintaining consistency in what concerns the usernames in different operating systems, but you must also keep in mind the security behind that risk.

Bottom line, you open as root, but you'll need to create and activate this account in MMIC.

I would like to know if you have any specific question regarding this.

    Hello

    I am preparing a UCS C220 M4 with windows 2012 for a customer.

The server is extremely noisy, I mean much more than any other rack server I have ever seen.

All the fan working at the higher rate of speed, as if the server had emergency cooling.

The question is: is this normal? Is the broken Server? Y at - it an option to reduce the 'fan-policy '.

  • UCS C220 M3 custom problem after installing ESXi 5.1.0 Cisco

    Hello world

I m using a Cisco UCS C220 M3 when I tried to install ESXi 5.1.0 custom Cisco after complete the entire process and restart the server. The ESXi has not started it appeared as if there is no operating system.

In addition, before installing ESXi I configured a HDD in RAID 0, initialized the RAMDisk and chosen as a pilot.

    Hoping someone could help me.

    Llianovich,

Unfortunately, the on-board controller is not supported with ESXi.  I saw other people using this controller for VMware and makes the work but the behavior is very random and it could work or fail at any time. It is recommended to use one of the controllers of basic PCI or Mezzanine by the ESXi (see c220 m3 datasheet below)

  • Important: Redundancy lost for BE6K UCS C220 M3S PSU_REDUNDANCY

    Hello team,

We have several deployments based on servers UCS C220 M3 (the famous BE6K) UA.

I'm not derived from systems, I'm a guy of the voice.

In fact, the UCS BE6K C220 M3 comes by default with a single power supply.

However, in the MMIC, we find many times that an alert is triggered for the redundancy of power and the system LED turns into continuous light.

Here's the warning: PSU_REDUNDANCY: PS redundancy sensor, redundancy Lost said

We do not understand why this alert is triggered when we already know that the BE6K server contains only a power supply?

What is a real problem or a false alarm?

    How we clear this alert?

In fact the system LED is orange isn't bodes well from the perspective of the customer. As well as when let us it stay in the State of the orange light, we would be not only a more serious problem (and real) can happen?

    The MMIC version is: 1.5.4f

    Please notify.

Unfortunately not (that I know) but if you go to loopholes in the Server tab, you should be able to view a summary of alerts and check what is happening.

  • How can Cisco ucs c220 m4 I start with 12g cisco sas controller? 2012 UEFI Server installation issues

first time with cisco ucs c220 m4, check my photos

    You have a VD 11TB.

Only way to start on this is by using UEFI.

You need to activate UEFI in the boot order.

Anything over 2 TB and more 4 K sector size readers require the UEFI boot option.

BIOS will not process the VDs when manages UEFI.

    Kirk...

Summary for those who seek a similar question:

    • Client a large VD created, 11TB
    • 2 TB and more, 4K sector drives, require boot UEFI + GPT, cannot use the legacy/MBR
    • To set startup to local HD option, that referenced the PCI-E Slot, the raid controller was in (HBA slot in this case)
    • UEFI mode, can't score a VD as "bootable disk / startup.
    • You will see not the VD/raid controller appear in the 'real' boot order during the OS install.
    • Once the installation of the OS compatible UEFI is made, it will create a UEFI boot to the operating system "Windows Boot Manager" entry in our case.
    • After the next reboot, if you check your boot order, you should see this UEFI OS boot manager entry.

    Hello

Since this lab environment, you can no longer purchase resources and ignore the rules of co-resideny for CPU VMs on NGC

The difference between the MFS and LFF's size and form factor of HARD disk. Model SFF 2.5 inch hard drives and LFF supports 3.5 hard drives.

  • Insertion/thanks to the RAID controller plug in PCIe card in a UCS C220 M3, rather than embeded RAID controller?

    Hello!!

We have a UCS C220 M3 server with a 1 TB SAS hard drive and a controller RAID embeded, like this:

    1

    UCS-HDD1TI2F212

    1 TB SAS 7.2 K rpm 3.5 inch HDD/hot plug/disc horse sleigh

    1

    UCSC-RAID-ROM15

    Embedded SW RAID 0, 1, 10, 5, 4 SAS/SATA ports

If I add this controller RAID PCI card to my UCS server:

    UCS-RAID-9266CV =

    MegaRAID 9266CV-8i w/TFM + Super CAP

    US $ 1,686.00

Going to work with her, ignoring the old RAID embeded it configured?

The question is that VMWARE is not supported controllers shipped my RAID, so I want to add an external RAID PCI controller to support VMWARE.

I don't know if it will work.

    Thank you!!

    Rodrigo,

The embeded controller is built and not removable, it is integrated into each C220/C240. The units are designed to operate with PCIe controllers and mezzanine table when it is properly configured.

Once you install the controller of the SIPC, you will need to do the following:

    (1) move the conectors mini SAS to the motherboard in the LSI PCIe controller

    (2) make sure that the slot PCIe what optionrom is enabled in the BIOS. (newer systems have their OptionROM disabled in the uninhabited slots (from the factory). If you do not see the OptionROM for the POST, then go back into the BIOS and enable the slot PCIe OptionROM

    (3) while you are in the BIOS, you can thus turn off Patsburg UCS regulatory table (the table embeded). It is of no use at this stage that you removed the cables up to the HARD drive Bay. It is also misleading if left active, you will see the configuration of arrays of LSI utility appear twice during POST. Time for the embeded and once again for the PCIe LSI controller.

  • UCS C220 M3 beep because of the failed disk in raid 5

    Hello

I have a server UCS C220 with 8 disks configured in RAID 5, which will beep continuously with 1 sec to 1 dry ground - indication of a problem of disk raid. Verification through CIMC, one of the drives (slot-7) is coming as faulty with the advice to "Reinstall or replace the storage disk. I have referred a case of TAC for this, got the disc replacement and installed. Suggested documentation its hot so just shot old and installed a new.

Now, the new drive is also to give the same status in the MMIC web UI. It must be disabled/re-permits to operate? In the MMIC web interface, under "Storage-> LSI MegaRAID SAS (Slot-2) 9266-8i-> Info physical disk-> Phy-Drive # 7", all the 'Actions' are grayed out i.e. ' overall immediate replacement ","Make dedicated immediate replacement","to prepare for the withdrawal. " This is true for the other disks work 7 institutions - all actions greyed out. I am logged in as an Admin user and it's a new box.

Also, is there a way to stop the ringing while the issue is under review? Its annoying to others working in there.

Screenshots with the new drive in:

    Thank you

    Rick.

Did you go to the WebBios to check the status of the disk in the view of the RAID controller?

To get there, you must press CTRL + H at the start, at the prompt of the LSI.

There, check if the disc is already on the Bay, otherwise it will have to be added manually.

You can also stop the alarm. Select the controller properties > continue clicking Next until you get here:

  • Helps the clarification on the ports of the UCS C220

Hi guys New computer unified (and the servers / virtualization in general to be honest!) Sorry for stupid questions, I guess. I tried to read as much as I can but still a little fuzzy on a few things.

At the back of the UCS C220 I have, there is a M, 1 LAN, LAN 2 port, and then a 4 ports ethernet card. What I guessed was:

    M's management for MMIC port

LAN 1 and 2 were for ESXi (grouping of NETWORK cards?)

So do not know what is the purpose of the ethernet card 4 ports as well?

In addition, the MMIC, you have the option for dedicated/shared LOM etc and I don't really understand the differences. I guessed who dedicates meant that MMIC used the port of M and LOM shared meant she could use other LAN ports? Furthermore, making MMIC and ESXi had to be on separate subnets?

Sorry for stupid questions, but once I have clearly in my head I think it will be easy for me,

    Thank you

    Hello

If I have CIMC running in "Shared LOM" then it means I can have 1 cable connected from one of the LOM ports and can access both the CIMC and ESXi on a single cable without the need for the management cable to be connected?

Yes, the only cable connected to the LOM port will give access to interface MMIC and ESXi.

In this case the CIMC and ESXi can also be on the same subnet without problems? (Assuming switch with single vlan)

They can be in the same subnet and won't cause problems

  • Warning of the UCS C220 M3 FlexFlash

    Hello

We have UCS C220 M3, hosting Unified Communications application CUCM CUC IM & P UCCX.

In CICM / storage: Cisco FlexFlash appears with a warning "Raid degraded" because there isn't a single card SD provided by default on the server. We have no use of it and it is in "disconnected" State.

Q: is it possible to disable this warning

    Hi rich,

You have the operating system installed on the SD card? If you do, you will need to install the second SD card and send the hypervisor partition.  If you do not use the SD card and you want to get rid of this message, you will need to remove the SD card from the server and restart the MMIC (see release notes below).

  • Generate a Certificate Signing Request on UCS C220 M3 running MMIC 1.5 (4th)

    Hello

I have a couple of servers UCS C220 M3 and to install certificates on them.

CA will not issue certificates with a 1024 module that seems to be the default created when generating a signature request using the GUI. The GUI I cannot put the module to a higher value.

I searched in the CLI, but it doesn't seem to be an option to do here.

The CLI guide said that there should be an 'extended security' cli command that would allow me to do this, but it is not present on my server of series C, so I think it might be available on the B series servers?

Anyone know if it is possible to change the module to 1024 which generation CSR on this model of server?

    Thank you

I have a UCS C220 M3 server. with 8 drives in it. I will install only CUCM and unity on this server. (4K users).

The server comes without the RAID configuration.

Cisco recommends RAID 5. I hoped to use a RAID 6.

It is possible that the optionROM for the integrated card is not activated.  Try to enable it in the BIOS, you can via the MMIC (see cimc_enable_optionrom) must attached. You also want to verify that this option gets enable in the bios.
You can enter the bios by pressing f2 during boot (see BIOS_Option_ROM)
