  I can probably answer it for you. In New Zealand, while the phones are not locked to a network, they are always for one of the three majors (Vodafone, Telecom or @ degrees). From my understanding none of the providers of network in New Zealand have actually passed acceptance on this update again.

  Hi im using the Xperia Ray and recently Ive upgraded to ICS 4.1.B.0.431 via PC Companion.I want to root my phone n tried to use the DooMLoRD method to the root of the firmware, but I failed. Is there a way to root my phone directly without having to use new stock rom to root it because Im afraid of losing all my apps n settings in my phone currently. I want to use Titanium Backup to make a backup of them, but given that my phone is not rooted so I can't use it.

  There are two ways to root,

  (1) to unlock your bootloader that "" will void your warranty and you will not be able to repair or update your phone with PCCompanion and/or Update Service. and if you don't know what you are doing you could damage your phone, or kill him.

  There are 2 methods, one you know and the other changes the nuclei.

  Download the rom 4.0.2.a.0.42 and flash only its core, then root using any method

  Then again, flash back, the core of 0.62 and you will have a rooted 0.62
