Rotation of HARD drive down every 2-3 seconds on the Satellite R830
Hello!
After 2-3 hours of work the typical rotation noise from the HARD drive to the top/spin down can be heard of my * Satellite R 830 - 146 (PT32LE) *. He can continue to about 10 minutes or fix it more long and go simple it is to sleep for laptop and he wakes up again.
I am sure, is not a normal behavior and not without danger for the hard drive. I have all the settings changed in the windows battery profiles, only Toshiba preinstalled by default.
There is also no any software preinstalled powersave or hdd - excluding the Toshiba products.
You have any ideas how to solve this problem?
There is only a single moment suspect I see: ubuntu-server in virtualbox, but there do not have laptop-mode-tools installed at all and it uses a virtual drive, so, in my opinion, there would be no effect on the actual hard drive.
> I'm sure, is not a normal behavior and not without danger for the hard drive. I have all the settings changed in the windows battery profiles, only Toshiba preinstalled by default.
I think that this happens because there is a background process that access the HARD disk and to read or write the data.
There are a lot of temporal data that would be stored on the HARD drive. For example for the use of internet or similar browsers, this is not rare and can occur if the process would not properly be cancelled.
You can start the Task Manager and check the processes tab.
You will find all the processes running in the background that could access the HARD disk.
You can also try putting HARD drive into suspend mode
This could be done in the power of Windows 7 options.
-> Panel-> options choose-> of the power station of advanced settings.
Now, you can suspend the HARD drive after the laptop has not been used for a specific period of time.

You may encounter a problem if you are installing a drive not HP SATA III any like I did with my dc7800.
My PC has the first question appears on the document of support on the link below (even if the dc7800 was not among the list of the PCs).
I had bought a HDD WD Caviar Black 500 GB SATA III and every time I want to reboot the PC or several times in a cold, start I'd get a disc hard not found error.
Of course, I assumed it was a defective and returned for a replacement disc. The spare drive did the same thing.
I have a HP 8200 Elite CMT with a Seagate 1 TB SATA III hard drive. I put this drive in my dc7800 and it worked perfectly for the last two years, who confirmed to me that the support document affects more than the models listed.
My recommendation for you would be to get the equivalent Seagate HDD which was in my Elite 8200, which is this one or stick with a SATA II if you can find one.

Donation thank you for your response. Yesterday, I turned off the laptop and disconnected everything. When I turned it back on, a black screen came up with the message on the computer that is running a check. I let it do its thing, lasted only 1 minute, and when I've logged on to hotmail and has begun to respond to an email, the keyboard worked really well and even faster than before! I guess that it just fixed itself, thank God my fingers became really painful immobilizes the keys for so long at a time. Thank you all for your suggestions, Jeannie Grama

How to recharge my hard drive with photos that are stored in iCloud? After installing a new hard drive, there's no pictures found in the Photos, and I get this error, "could not find the picture of system library named"Library.photoslibrary Photos".
Soon as your App Photos or iPhoto lost track of your photo library, or there has not been migrated from your old drive. You can create an empty library and probably enable iCloud photo library for photos to upload to the cloud.

I have a Macbook air running OS X El Capitan. I try to use my Time Capsule as external hard drive. But when I look in the Finder, nothing is available for shared devices. I don't know if I need to restart the time Capsule or change the wireless setting, etc. ?
Please advise...
The TC appears in airport utility? If not then it is probably not part of your network or is lost... upgrade installed you El Capo because there a lot of questions.
What is the TC plugged into the network by ethernet? And configured properly? Are you to internet via the TC... but can not see his drive... that would be typical?
Have you set Finder preferences to display the network drives? Apple keeps making it difficult for some unknown reason.
You actually have to mount the drive TC if it appears under shared... it still may not appear if you double click on it. Under the search box on the top of the right hand you see Connect (As) box, type the name or IP address of the TC in there... Make sure that you save the password from your keychain.
I try to use my Time Capsule as external hard drive
For the storage of the files it is fine.
For the execution of direct files for an application in the Mac, you are very likely to damage or corrupt the file at some point.
And how do you do backups? Time Machine can't help you... it won't work.
Backup is crucial, especially if you do things apple say not to do... That is to say move your photos or the iphoto library to the TC and try to use direct from there... expect any day to need a resumption of the library.

Must the updates and hot fixs remain on the hard drive after having been loaded? Is the information provided in the operating system? Or do the lonely stand.
Original title: need for disk space
Here are the official specifications of Toshiba for your PC...
http://support.Toshiba.com/support/staticContentDetail?ContentId=638405&isFromTOCLink=false
All interface PATA (IDE) connectors are a standard 40 pin.
I know that there is no restriction on the mixture of ATA drives with different speed capabilities and no restrictions on what cable you use, whether 40 wire or 80 strand (but still 40 pins).
Faster drives will only work at the speed of the slowest car on any cable and 80 strand cables are needed to make ATA66 or higher drives run at their native speed.
In addition, no player can work faster than the motherboard chipset permits, in your case ATA66.
My provider of trade has still some disks 3.5 '' PATA in stock, but these are becoming harder and harder to find. Indeed, it is possible that production has ceased and that suppliers are just exhausted stocks.
I can certainly say that, when repairs this technology were more frequent, I never had problems with discs theoretically faster on the same cable as slower drives, nor by using faster on 40 cable strands discs. In fact, of many penny pinching manufacturers (some of them major) regularly used for the optical drive and hard drive on the same cable as the motherboard has two connectors, resulting in a decrease in performance on the disk hard (although most of the people would not have noticed the difference). Sometimes, the cable would be 40 strand (understandable if you are penny pinching) and sometimes the cable would be 80 strand (laughable if you are penny pinching because they are [were] more expensive).
Pass your question about vacant below the sound card. Unless your text confused me, this space is for expansion cards no disk drives. Space that you reference is probably to the back of the PC. Hard drives are normally located toward the front of the dedicated PC "berries". Unfortunately, I could find no photo on the Toshiba site, and still less those internal.

installed the new hard drive in my compaq lap top, started the professional windows installation and stops because it cannot find the hard drive. It is in the bios and has passed the tests. My lap top has only a cd/dvd drive, a floppy drive. Not knowing what to do.
It is probably because you have a hard drive Serial ATA (SATA) in your computer. These drives did not exist when Windows XP came out and so no drivers for this type of disc can be found in a regular Windows XP don't install. Windows makes allowances for that by inviting you to press the "F6" key at the beginning of the installation process, but then you must provide the SATA drivers diskette (no other medium will do).

Check that your antivirus (all-in-one suite If you have one) is not turn off your network traffic.
Note the devices installed in the machine. Use this information to download the latest version of the drivers and software for the manufacturer's Web site features (on another machine and store on an external support, I suppose, would be the only way for you to do.)
Uninstall the software/drivers for network devices. Turn it back on. Even if pilots are found/installed automatically, manually update the drivers & software using the files you downloaded earlier.
Download, install, execute, update and perform analyses complete system with the two following applications:
Remove anything they find. Reboot when necessary. (You can uninstall one or both when finished.)
Search online with eSet Online Scanner.
Open a command prompt and run the commands following one at a time (after each ENTRY) without leaving the part through if somehting started working... Note all errors and post them here.
netsh winsock reset catalog
ipconfig / renew
ipconfig/flushdns
ARP d *.

I can read only half of my product key due to wear, but I need to reinstall xp on my hard drive again. How can I get the key?
If you can still boot your old disk, you can use a program such as one of them:
KeyFinder: <> http://www.magicaljellybean.com/ >
Belarc Advisor: <> http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html >to read the key out of your old system.
Also note that if you have a system OEM and the OEM installation disks, the key can be incorporated in the installation discs and can not be necessary when your reinstalling Windows.

I hope I am posting this on the forum,
I want to delete a partition on my hard drive that was originally set up by the manufacturer as a backup drive hard to label.
I went into computer management console & know that the primary partition - drive C system, boot, pagefile, active lists, dump incident & main partition in brackets but I don't know about the virtual memory paging file. No, there is some data on it. I've been saving the other partition - C drive on an external hard drive.
I know that I have to back up this data but where I should come back to? And why is it called (Primary Partition) when it is used only as a return to the top by car?
I'm only wanting to do because I'm running out of space on my drive C & D drive are the same size! 143 GB & 139.5 GB
I have a laptop of Acer 6930
Window Vista Home Premium Service pack 2
Intel Core 2 Duo T6400 2 GHz
4 GB OF RAM DDR
64-bit operating system
HARD DRIVE 320 GB

Hello
D: is not a partition backup of your machine.
Acer has a time set up their machines to the way yours is:
They had a C: drive for the operating system, a drive D: for data (music, movies, etc you would like to register and a recovery partition 'hidden' to reinstall the operating system and to make the recovery discs to do the same thing.)
You can merge C: and D: as a whole, BUT save all data on D: first because it will be deleted when you merge.
"How delete and extend a Partition with Vista disk management"
http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/95418-disk-management-delete-extend.html
And YES, you back up the data on an external hard drive in case of hard drive failure, the corruption of the system, etc.
See you soon.
