Error "the RPC server is unavailable."
I have a Windows XP Home SP3 PC who, since yesterday has been report error "the RPC server is unavailable" in attempting to perform specific tasks such as remove programs via the control panel and of the files of backup using Acronis 10. 'Paste' files which have been 'copying' ed by right click of the mouse or drag-and - drop, and finally, Internet Explorer 8 does not load authorize also Windows Explorer is no longer. I suspect that all these problems, which began at the same time, are connected!
I did a virus check full system using AVG 8.5 and booted in safe mode "...". from last known working configuration"but nothing works.
Any thoughts?
I'll make sure that your Remote Procedure Call (RPC) server is running. Right-click on my computer-> Manage and go to the services section. You start and stop the services from here. You can also right-click and select Properties... and see the service dependencies.

I would like to check the status of the Services.
Click on the Start button and select Control Panel, administrative tools, Services. Locate the RPC end point Mapper in the list and make sure that the startup type is automatic. If it is not set to automatic, right-click and select Properties, general tab. There is a box after the startup type. The options are available in a menu drop-down by clicking on the down arrow to the right of the box. Make the change and click apply and then click OK. Restart the computer and verify if it has started.
Hope this helps, Gerry Cornell

cant open Control Panel/error/RPC server is unavailable
When I try to open the system restore, I get this error code... Class not registered (0 x 80040154)
If I try to open the control panel I can not and I get... The RPC server is unavailable
What can I please?
Hello
System restore depends on the RPC Server service that could be the reason why you can not run the system restore.
The Remote Procedure Call (RPC) Services service must be started and startup type must be set to automatic.
(a) click Start, type services in the start search box and press enter.
(b) in the Services window, find a remote procedure call and do a right click on it to select Properties.
(c) under the general tab, make sure the Startup type is Automatic and the Service status is Started.

Hello
1. have you made changes on the computer before this problem?
2. what operating system is installed on the computer?
The RPC server or remote procedure call is a service on your computer that allows other computers to access remotely.
Method 1: You can check the event viewer for detailed information on the problem. Consult the following links.
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/open-Event-Viewer
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/what-information-appears-in-event-logs-Event-Viewer
Method 2: The Remote Procedure Call (RPC) Services service must be started and startup type must be set to automatic.
(a) click Start, type services in the start search box and press enter.
(b) in the Services window, find a remote procedure call and do a right click on it to select Properties.
(c) under the general tab, make sure the Startup type is Automatic and the Service status indicates Started.
Method 3: If the methods above help not, perform a restore of the system in safe mode. You can restore the computer to a date when the computer was working properly.
a. click Start, type System Restore in the search box and then in the list click on the system restore program.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password or click on continue.

The RPC server is unavailable. How can I fix it?
I have Windows XP SP3 and I try to install a Dell 964 all-in-one printer and every time it almost finished installing it stops and I get a message that says the server RPC is unavailable. How can I fix it? I don't know I asked this question in the right place, but please, someone helped me. Thank you, too, my CD player stopped working. I can fix this? I had to go to Dell and download the installation of the printer, but I also have the CD that came with the printer. And I had to use you same cable to connect the printer to my Dell PC that I used with my HP printer, but it broke and I am trying to replace it. Thanks again.
Cindy
Hi Lucinda,
Thanks for posting your question on the Forums of community of Microsoft.
You did changes to the computer before the show?
Here are some ways you can follow to resolve the problem:
Method 1:
The Remote Procedure Call (RPC) Service service must be started and startup type must be set to automatic.
Steps to follow:
a. Click Start, type services in the start search box and press ENTER.
(b) in the Services window, find a remote and made procedure call a right click on it to select Properties.
c. under the general tab, make sure the startup type is automatic and the Service status is started.Method 2:
Disable security programs antivirus or other software installed on the computer and check.
Important note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.Method 3:
Check out the link and follow the steps:
Solve printer problems
For the problem with the CD drive, see the link:
Your CD or DVD drive is missing or is not recognized by Windows or other programshttp://support.Microsoft.com/kb/982116
Hope this solves the problem.

I get this term after trying to install the printer drivers for a printer multifunction Epson DX8400. But at the same time, it loads the drivers scanner for the same machine. It's my Fujitsu/Siemens Amilo Xi 1546 lap top. Windows XP with Service Pack 3 installed.
All the thoughts/help would be very appreciated

RPC is a Remote Procedure Call (created as an open Sun architecture) and Service within Microsoft Windows. You must verify that it is running on your system. Type:
When opening the windows of race type: services.msc /s You will then see the open Service window. Scroll down to "Remote Procedure Call". Remember that it is marked "Started" in the "Status" column and listed as "Automatic" in the column "Startup Type". If one of these not the case, to the right, click on the entry (starting from an administrator account) and click on 'Start' in the menu that appears. You also want to right click and select "Properties". When the CPP menu opens, go to the "Général" tab and change the "Startup Type" to "Automatic" if it isn't already. If CPP does not start, go to the LER Sytem, search the meesage of failure he had brought to this forum and tell us what it says...
