RS232 interface

I want to drive a magnet with a power supply (you want to increase the tension of the first negative to positive then negative or vice versa) using LabView programming via rs232 port. I'm at the beginning of learning LabView. Could you please suggest some ideas for programming and communicating via this port?

Open the file "C:\Program NIUninstaller Instruments\LabVIEW 8.6\examples\instr\smplserl.llb\Basic series writing and Read.vi".

Refer to m, annual instruments for commnads who recognizes the device.

Write the command in the field 'string to write' and setWrite and read about True. Run the VI. See what's happening.

  • trying to communicate with a computer via an RS232 interface.

Hi, I would like to communicate with my computer via RS232 DB - 25 side of machine that is configured as a DCE and DB - 9 my side PC as DTE, the computer only uses pin 2 (serial data in), pin 3 (serial data out) and PIN 7 a pattern. I wired the pins straight through except the ground which is in the DB 9 pin 5, so I tried to connect pin 2 pin 2 and 3 pin to pin, pin 7 to pin 5, but I couldn't get through my machine, then I tried 3 machine spindle pin 2 of my pc , machine pin 2 pin 3 pin 5-7 pc, unfortunately cannot also. I set everything correctly, as I think, but somehow could not do.

(in the if said manual pc a DB9 so connecting db-9 to db-25 cable modem) - what a sense.

I'm asking for help on this issue. Thanks for any help.

Yes, of course do you. Who is stated in the manual. In MAX, you would use \r\n.

If you want to use an ELO APR display touch with the DMP - 4400G to * CONTACT * feature

you connect via HDMI or DVI-HDMI / HDMI for video and USB for TACTILE signage.

Unfortunately, you mention the Intellitouch technology and which is NOT supported on the DMP - 4400G.

    Hello

I searched the net for similar questions and a lot of people say that the converter could not work because of the SP2.
I m not 100% sure about this, but it of possible.

    I found this page:

  • Wayne Kerr 7720 Impulse Tester (serial interface) driver needed

I don't know what you mean. The I tried is a self-extracting zip with a couple of files llb and those are certainly valid extensions.

  • How to read the voltage difference between the 2 pins of a RS232?

Hi, I'm new in this field and I'm having a problem in the acquisition of data from a RS232 port. In fact, I don't know if it is possible to do.

What I would do, is to read the voltage difference between the two pins of the port. It's because I want to measure the temperature (and save the data) in a very simple way. I have 6 thermocouples and I thought weld at the different pins of the RS232 interface and acquire analog signals in mV with the computer. Then, I would use a thermometer to calibrate the values.

Is it possible to do? How? I searched a lot but I can't find any tutorial or similar to this example...

No, it is not possible to do it with the serial port. The port is not an A/D converter. A simple RS-232 tutorial will tell you that the port is binary in nature.

  • Feasibility of production RS232 using DAQmx?

I am interfacing with a legacy of PIC device which has a RS232 interface.  I need to generate messages RS232 by DAQmx because I'll have 8 cameras and only one port set to a controller for PXI chassis.  I do not want to have additional wiring.  I already use a NI SMU-6363 for SPI, IEEE 1149.1 and I thought I might as well generate RS232 to communicate with the captain.

Someone at - it examples of generation RS232 with DAQmx?  You see potential problems to go this route?

    Philip,

Ok. When you're saying RS232, you get a set of specifications for the framing of common character, power, hand, shaking and so on. What you are to use the part of framing without the physical parts.  As far as I know, there is no good word for it.

If you have available a pair of digital ports (one input and one output), you can probably use them to your communication. Use a bit of each port for each of the 8 channels. If you are using a common clock for the UART in the end PIC and like clockwork to digital sampling at the end of data acquisition, it should be fairly straighforward to acquire and send data. Of course, you would need to write, or find someone who already has the software to encode/decode everything.

  • RS232 - error handling

    Hello

I read continuous data from RS232 interface. During communication, there can be that the remote console is turned off due to maintenance work. How can I determine the connection lost? The error on the function 'number of bytes to Port' and "Reading Serial" is empty. Do I have to set a property to enable the processing of the error? What I am doing wrong? I've attached a screenshot of a vi test when it is independent of the connection of the RS232 cable, no error code is displayed.

    Kind regards

    --

    Joachim

I send an acquisition of start command to the device and I have read the data at all times. Because I'm acquiring the data of both devices simultaneously with different sampling frequencies that I store the last packet of data on a shift

Register for an acquisition of alternator 'simulation' of the two devices. This means that the property of bytes to the Port must be 15 to read data with VISA Read. Otherwise I use the last packet of 'good' with 15 bytes of

the shift register. So I can only use the property of number of bytes to determine if I do not get data for a longer period of time using Tick account information for VISA reading compared with the current number of cycles.

  • How to send data to a usb RS232 port 6009?

    Hello world

The converter that I intend to order has a RS232 port (terminals 71 and 72 according to the schema; RXD and TXD) and the use of this I can set and read parameters and control commands. I want to use the DAQ USB 6009 therefor. The format of data will take place as follows: -.

    A logical bit - 0 start

    Eight data bits

    A stop bit - 1 logic

There are only 3 acceptable speeds which are 300, 600 and 1200, because the converter is very old.

This makes my head completely, because I can't imagine a solution. Is it possible for the acquisition of data USB 6009 card?

    Any help will be appreciated

    Kind regards

    Sandeep

If you want to control the converter RS232 commands, you must use a RS232 device. If your PC is not a COM port (free), you can use a good USB2RS232 converter market. The driver accompanying will provide a COM port for the OS and with the driver NI-VISA you can use in LabVIEW. Perhaps it is a LV-driver for the controller, just check the network OR Web driver.

Will need you a cable custom at least three sons of the COM port (usually a DB9 connector) to the converter. GND (DB) - PIN5 at 55, PIN 2 to 71, PIN 3 to 72 (maybe you need to Exchange 71 and 72, if you can't get a connection, more details should be in the converter manual).

You can start with hyperterminal for a first check, or use the RS232 interface - simple to write and read vi found in the examples of LabVIEW-help-find (don't forget the stop here character ;-)

  • Adding a port series HP xw6600, xw8600, and other workstations

Based on some advice from Dan_in_WGBU (which is a HP engineer and an excellent source of information in this forum), here's how to add a serial port backplane HP.  To access a serial port still can be very useful for some projects.

As is done with many more recent work positions the xw6600 and the xw8600 both have no ports series on their basket funds, but HP has designed some of their motherboards with a special type of powered serial port header consisting of two rows of pins... 8 pins on 1 side, 7 on the other.  Who is supposed to accept a cable sheet with a record of 8 holes with a 'white' (filled plastic) which allows the other end go on the motherboard header in only one correct orientation.  For the xw6600 this header is down on the lower edge of the motherboard, just left of the SATA port to the left, under the lowest PCI slot.  It's a '8 x 2 males header' with a single missing pin, which is where plastic filled wil end of shooting overall.  The same device is used with a number of new jobs Z, too.

The small device at the other end of the ribbon cable is known as a "2nd serial port adaper" since when virtually all workstations had a built-in serial port in the bottom of basket.  With the HP xw6600 and before xw8600 workstations this unit should really be called the "1st serial port adapter".  Dan indicates that this unit can be used on any HP motherboards with special serial port header powered 8 x 2 this necessary.  You can see the unique circuit board at the end of supplypaper-mother of the device below, which receives power from the motherboard to the appropriate serial interface and signals.  Note that this is not a simple transmission device on a cable in water, which is used by some other manufacturers to get signals to/from the motherboard serial port.  Head of series of motherboard HP 8 x 2 location is easy to find in your Workstation Service and technical reference Guide.  These manuals are easy to find via Google.

Combined perimeter wire / Ribbon / two brackets PCI 'part option' number PA716A, but the key for a cheap purchase on eBay must know he has reference number is 264534-001 283984-001 (alias).  You can find them on eBay in one of these three designations, with the more expensive under the option part number.  Make sure you get the included ribbon cable... Mine cost me about $10.00 total, including shipping.

XP/W7 32/64-bit OS will recognize this material added automatically, and I bet that Windows 8.1 would be too.  Here is an example of the complete kit, you will get directly from HP, including full-height and low profile PCI brackets.  Many found on eBay are sold without this special ribbon cable coming from the top... Be sure to get one of these.  I bought used... difficult to wear one of these stars:

I can't post the patterns, but it's OK for me to show the pinout of the connector on the motherboard, since most of them are already in technical reference guides.

The serial port follows the standard RS232, once the card is installed.  On the motherboard, the serial port UART signals are routed to the Super IO on the connector of P53, but the motherboard is not the interface RS232 circuit needed to provide the interface voltage levels to meet the EIA/TIA-232 standard and to provide ESD protection on the serial port.  So do not try to connect a serial port connector and connect it directly to the motherboard.  It will not work and may damage the motherboard.

The PA716A card is very simple.  It contains an RS232 interface circuit, more a handful of components ensure the electric compatibility and quality of the signal.  This card is identical to the one used on some HP desktop computers and workstations since about 2002.  If you can get one at a great price, it's probably not worth making your own.

  • How to analyze the data of the commas?

    Hello!

I have a problem when parsing comma-delimited data. My oscilloscope transfers 1002 data points via the RS232 interface that is delimited by commas. In addition, they have a variable length where positive values are coded on 8 bits and those negative 9. If the analysis with a fixed length is hardly possible. I tried a variety of solutions for the format of measure like a\x2C, but without success. I can see the data in the RS232 monitor, but how do I work with it in the Dasylab Datasheet?

    Thanks for your help!
