Therefore, return to the orange box of Firefox to try again. It gets mighty frustrating. More old Firefox users for many years which was very, very satisfied with the previous edition, I suggest a larger upper surface in which move your cursor around, or some sort of customaization of sizing being available, or the ability to use a 'classic' of Firefox edition.   I also find the new boring interface. Try this and see if you like it better: open the box orange of Firefox and go to the Options in this drop-down menu, select menu bar. Then you will have a more "classic" view

  Is it possible to actually get google hangouts to work on the Surface RT? I installed 2 google apps, but two of them are trying to open in the browser explore who told me that the meeting places is not supported on RT. Are there no work around? My whole family that uses and I can't join them in discussions.

  Google has publicly stated that they have no interest in Microsoft platforms.  For the most part, Google think that if you want to use Google products, you need to buy a computer from Google (chromebook, android tablet, android phone, etc.).  It's a very sad state of affairs.

  On Surface Windows RT, you can not install alternative browsers. This means no AdBlock and Google Chrome.

• Transfer music from Windows 8 to Surface RT operating system

  I find that Surface RT doesn't have an app to run just about everything. Now, I find I can't transfer music from a flash drive that was on Windows Media Player.  This flaw is never told to potential buyers. I would have not bought.

  Windows Media Player is a program on Windows 8.  Mainly, it gets its music from files stored in the music folder.

  If you have opened the file manager on your computer that has the music, click the MUSIC folder you see in the left tree.  If this folder is empty, then your music was stored somewhere else.  Check other records, including the downloads folder.

  Windows Media Player scans the entire computer for files and catalogues, but does not appear where they are stored.  You will need to manually browse the folder via the file manager to find.

  Better to stick a USB stick in the USB port and when you are looking and find the files, copy them to the USB.

  If it's music you've been downloading, most while they go in the Downloads folder or to the last place where you downloaded a file from Internet Explorer.

  When I backed up popular data to work on their computers, I noticed that a lot of them stored images, videos and music in the Documents folder for some strange reason.  However, the program in windows scans the computer for the type of media, they are intended and throw them in their own built in file manager.

  Always best to stay organized.  Chances are, your music files are scattered everywhere.

  You can organize at the same time that you copy them.  Simply tell the program to 'Cut' and then 'paste' to the USB.  In this way, it will move the files to the USB, and then when you are done, and you want the music to stay on your main computer, just copy the music on the main computer to the MUSIC folder.

  This way you'll always know where they are and the music is not only organized on your computer but also copied on the USB so that you can copy on the RT.

  I kept my is fairly simple.  I put all my files on a Microsd card and inserted into the RT of mine.  I opened the music app XBox and waited about two minutes and bingo, my music has been catalogued and ready to play.  Most of the people that screw up and think that the computer does not find their music.  They forget that they must WAIT and let the computer analyzes the disks for the media.  What RT can be slow but sure.

• Update of Java with Surface RT

  I was watching videos last night on my RT Surface when a tab to update critical Java software popped up.  I tried to get out of this tab, but a small window pops up that says:

  A critical security update was released, and you are required to update your Java player.
  This page will automatically close once the security update has been installed.
  I then click OK. He then asked "Are you sure want to leave this page?" I click on leave this page and it keeps taking me back to the first window.  I'm just going around in circles here and really have no idea what I'm doing.  I don't know if Java can be installed on the Surface of RT since it does not in any case.  Can someone help me?

  It's what we call a 'diversion' virus and these pop ups are fake.

  Restart the Tablet and reach the desktop Internet Explorer and go to the Tools section and delete your browsing history (all).  Then update and run a full scan with Windows Defender.  The RT will not get the virus in the system, but it may still be in the tablet to go elsewhere in the future.
  Now you know what are the web sites not to go to!  If you had a Pro or Pro 2, which would have been a different story.  For those, you will need to do a complete RESET!

  My rt surface does not Bing search when searching through the address bar. If you enter a term to search above the address bar offers research appear.   The only way that this program will work on the RT is if the developer creates an application specifically for programs inherited from Windows RT. can only be installed on the Surface RT and browser addons are not supported, so if you are looking for a device that offers these two points of the feature you want to hold to the Surface Pro.

• How can I read my existing Kindle electronic books on my new Surface with Windows RT 8.1 (previously downloaded on my desk in my library)?

  I use my local library to select and download Kindle eBooks on my desk.  I copied several of them to my new Surface.  I also installed the App "Kindle" on the Microsoft Store, but he can't find the books I copied in the 'Documents' folder under a file of 'books '.  Whenever I start the application, it offers me an option to 'BROWSE', but will that go to the SkyDrive, then it looks for anything (although I copied one of the books there).  So, what should I do now?

  
  

  
  

  For the readers of this issue, my Librarian has solved the problem as follows:

  No idea how to "Sideload" e-books of the Kinlde of application view.  However, to use the office, go to the website of library book, select a book to consult, let it send you to Amazon, download the book (repeat for the other books if necessary) then go to the Tablet Surface, open the Kindle app, click SkyDrive and make sure that the list is updated, click on the new books at the same time and let the Tablet download each one.  This method works.

• BBC iPlayer works does not on the Surface RT

  Just noticed today that I am not able to play bbc iplayer on my rt surface. This worked days ago but now won't work at all. I get a message saying that my device does not support BBC iplayer. It says to turn off the desktop to the browser option. Cannot find it anywhere. Any advice?

• Access Sharepoint from Surface RT site

  I have problems to access Sharepoint sites from my Surface RT via IE.  Y at - it a plugin or something that must be installed on the tablet that allows access to Sharepoint.  I have no problem accessing the site from a standard Windows 7 laptop machine running IE.
