  I tried to delete the Windows Recovery 2 partitions with disk utility tools but the button "-" to remove them were leaving is disabled.

  Is it a good idea to remove these partitions? If yes how?

  How can I access the Windows Recovery Console. The State of KBs Microsoft it may be accessessed to start with the DVD of the OS. However, you provide OS DVD only Toshiba recovery disks. When I boot them it gives only the option to erase all data and restore the original state.

  I have a Toshiba Qosmio F10 running Windows 7 32 bit.

  The reason why I need the recovery console is due to a breakdown of chkdsk which results now it running whenever I start up and hanging each time. Other Articals MS say I can get out of this infinite loop by using the Windows Recovery Console.

  I read your post about wanting to restore your PC to its original Win8.1 and wanted to help.

  You mention having a DVD but the HP Recovery Kit consists of at least three DVDs, not one.  So what it the DVD and where did you?

  Ask because on the recovery HP Kit will restore your PC to its original state.  IF you have a DVD Win8x of Microsoft, who can install, but it will not activate because it will take a product key for sale at retail, and your PC came with a HP OEM product key.

  Let me welcome you on the HP forums!

  There is really no way accurately guess in advance, with one of the reasons being that the options are available when you do this.  An option creates a recovery drive minimum with what is needed to repair the operating system.  Another option creates an image that is able to completely restore the operating system and its partition.  Thus, the size can vary from 4 GB to the size of the partition to the OS.

  Myself, I found as build-in recovery to be unreliable, especially those of Ms.  So instead, I use a third-party imaging/restoration solution known as Macrium Reflect.

  What I recommend is the following:
  (1) download and install Macrium reflect (MR)
  (2) run M. and choose the option: "Create an image of the partition (s) required to backup and restore Windows" to write a full backup to an external drive or USB key
  (3) use the option to create a CD or a USB startup key

  My experience is that SIR, when you use the option of Compression high, typically allows to compress the image file recorded at about 50% of the space USED in the OS partition.  This means that if you have a 40GB and 80GB OS partition is used, MR must only about 20 GB to store the image file.

  I use all the time and it usually takes less than 10 minutes to make the backup of the image and at the same time or less do a restore.  In addition, MR has the ability to add a recovery Boot Menu entry.  This then allows you to boot into Windows re, and then you can use it to do a restore - when you cannot start Windows!

  NOW, you have the means to restore a full system that works for the external hard drive or USB key in a few minutes.

  Hey there. I think I just cleaned my old machine to windows XP from a virus apparently known as Windows Recovery using software Malwarebytes' Anti Malware. I have two questions:
  1. How can I be sure that I deleted everything about the virus?
  2. the virus seems to have converted all my documents, files and programs to the State that is 'hidden '. Here is what happened: at his first connection after removing all the stuff found virus, all items in my office were missing from the office, and no program was included in the area of all programs on the start menu. I did a few fishermen and found that all of my programs and documents are in fact still on the computer, but they just seem to be have a "hidden" attribute So I changed my settings folder options to "show the hidden files and folders" and now I see all my old files on my desktop and files, but they are all gray. However when I search for a file by using the start menu, I can find and open a file and the location is listed as it was before the virus (for example C:/users/me/images etc.). Also when I run itunes all my music is still listed as usual and plays.
