Running Windows XP; Windows Picture Manager embarks...

I am running Windows XP. Totally out of the blue, starting just tonight, when I download an image from a Web site and save it on my hard drive, Microsoft Picture Manager automatically launch itself by opening this picture just saved. This has never happened before, I have no idea how it started, and I have no idea how to fix... Help!

Hello

Glad to know you found the problem.

See you soon!

  • Photo disappeared when editing on Windows Picture Manager.

In my thumb nails, there is only an empty rectangle showing where the photo has. Any ideas how to get it back?

    Hi williamwoodhouse,

    ·         Did you do changes on the computer before the show?

    Follow these methods.

    Method 1: Follow these steps:

    (a) if the thumbnails are not generated, then open the Folder Options applet through the control panel.

    (b) in the Folder Options view tab, uncheck the following option:

    Always show icons, never thumbnails

    (c) click OK.

If this does not work, try to clear the cache of thumbnails using the disk cleanup tool.

Method 2: Perform a System Restore and check if the problem persists.

  • I run windows xp on HP Pavilion 750, in the past, I have not had a problem writing to the pictures from my computer to a disc

I run windows xp on HP Pavilion 750, in the past, I have not had a problem writing to the photos from my computer on disc.

It now written up so I get a message cannot keep any body can help please.

    original title: problem writing Photos...

I'm sorry, but I don't have a solution for you.  You can check the Device Manager (start > run > devmgmt.msc > OK) to see if there are warnings next to your CD burner.  If there is a caution icon, double-click the entry and see what it says under "device status".

I don't know how you use picture & Fax Viewer to burn a CD.  The usual method, except if you have 3rd party CD burning software, is to use Windows Explorer.  This is what Windows XP Help & Support has to say on this topic:

To copy files and folders to a CD

    1. Insert a blank, writable CD into the CD burner.
    2. Open my computer.
    3. Click the files or folders to copy to the CD. To select multiple files, hold down the CTRL key while you click the files you want. Then, under file and folder tasks, click copy this file, copy this folder, or copy the selected items.

If the files are located in my pictures, under management of images, click copy to CD or copy all items to a CDand go to step 5.

    4. In the dialog box copy items , click the CD player record, and then click copy.
    5. In my computer, double-click the CD burner. Windows displays a temporary area where the files are held before they are copied to the CD. Verify that the files and folders you want to copy to the CD appear under files ready to be written on the CD.
    6. Under CD writing tasks, click write these files to CD. Windows displays the Assistant burn a CD. Follow the instructions in the wizard.

    Notes

    • To open my computer, click Startand then click my computer.
    • Do not copy more files to the CD that it will hold. Standard CD hold up to 650 megabytes (MB). Large capacity CD contain up to 850 MB.
    • Don't forget that you have enough disk space on your hard disk to store the temporary files that are created during the CD writing process. For a standard CD, Windows reserves up to 700 MB of available disk space. For a high-capacity CD, Windows reserves up to 1 gigabyte (GB) of the available free space.
    • After you copy files or folders to the CD, it is useful to view the CD to verify that the files are copied.

Follow these steps to disable the Photo Manager.

1 - click on the Windows "Start" button and select "Control Panel".

2 - double click on the icon "Add / Remove Programs" If you are using Windows XP. If you use Windows Vista or Windows 7, click the "Uninstall a program" instead.

    3. Select the entry "Microsoft Office" and then click on the "Edit" button if you are using Windows XP. If you use Windows Vista or Windows 7, right click on "Microsoft Office" item and select "change".

4 - Select "Add or remove features", then click on 'Next' or 'continue '. If you are using Office 2003, you must also check the box on the next screen titled 'Choose advanced customization of applications', then click 'next '.

5 - double click on the item of "Office Tools".

6 - click on the drop-down next to the article "Microsoft Office Picture Manager" menu and select "not available".

7 - click on 'Update' If you use Office 2003. If you are using Office 2007 or later, click on "continue".

    * original title - why do I have two HpqPhUnl.exe race? *

Are you using the quick change of user with more than one user connected and are both instances of HpqPhUnl.exe running under different user names?

Although it is always possible for malware to masquerade as a legitimate file, HpqPhUnl.exe is related to the HP Photosmart Essential software provided with printers HP all-in-one.

It seems there were several problems with Photosmart Essential and HP has replaced with HP Photo Creations.  HP claims, however, that he "supports" always Photosmart Essential.  See http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c02475046&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&product=3857372

In the Windows Task Manager, I have 76 processes running. What are they all? Can I reduce/close them?

I am only a very lightweight browser and the user of the social network. I do not use my PC for something else.

It is average for a system Windows does not.

Windows is broken down into different components so they can be executed in parallel to improve performance.

Their closure will cause your computer to malfunction and eventually fails.

Run process Explorer to give you a description of each process and information on the services that are running in each svchost process.

  • Lack of HP Recovery Manager of HP Pavillion running Windows 8.1

    Hello

Just got a new HP Pavilion running Windows 8.1 early upward (not updated by me).

I am trying to create system recovery using HP Recovery Manager disks, but it is not on the system.

I used the search function of Windows 8, but the program does not appear.

    Any advice would be welcome.

    Thank you very much

I find it very weird that it does not come with a Recovery Manager well.

Are you by chance to the United Kingdom? I found support and drivers listed in the site of HP support for the United Kingdom, not to the United States.

  • Windows 7 will not be printed with the photo viewer and Picture Manager.

Everytime I open an image file with Windows or Office Picture Manager Photo Viewer and try to print, I get 4 message boxes that said "your photos cannot be printed because this error occurred.

There is nothing else that a button OK - not even one error code.

The strange this is I can print almost anything with any other program very well. Firefox, Photoshop, all those print without problem. It's only the viewer Photo and Picture Manager that do this.

The printer is an Epson RX595 with 64-bit drivers.

My Office Picture Manager calls a dialog box that has a dropbox to define the printer. If you create an image of a document (*.mdi) you know it's the printer driver that has a problem.
