RV042 connectivity

Hello.

I recently flashed my firmware version RV042: 1.3.12.19 - tm

I am now affected intermittently Ithe nternet connectivity issues. Whatever site I visit, it is not uncommon to discover:

  • missing web page elements (e.g. images)
  • long load times

TROUBLESHOOTING

So far I have tried:

  • (hard and soft) reboot the RV042 several times
  • connection of different computers (PC/Vista, macBook/OSX) for the RV042
  • change the physical connection to a different port (1-4)
  • reviewing the configuration of the router (currently the installer with a DMZ. For testing purposes, I tried to disable the port DMZ.)

The result is always the same, no change.

FRAMEWORK

  • the RV042 unit is less than 1 year (bought new)
  • the problems started right now that I have updated the firmware of the device

I'd like to go back to the original version of the firmware: 1.3.12.6.

Everyone knows this?  Any thoughts on how I can fix this?

@ all those who encounter this problem

SYMPTOMS

For me, I've lived intermittently / randomly:

> long time for loading web pages

> missing web page items

SOLUTION

Router Linksys/Cisco RV042 firmware version 1.3.12.19 - tm, contains an error that prevents it from automatically setting the MTU size.

To correct the problem, I took advice of sk8erboi {thanks sir!} and changed the MTU to auto to manual (1500bytes).  After the change is made, I restarted the whole network (PC, router,...).  It has been about a week since the change, and everything works well again.

ADDITIONAL NOTES

The Cisco/Linksys documentation incorrectly States that the MTU is set from the menu option next: Firewall > General > MTU

Here you can find the MTU auto/Manual:

Setup > network > WAN connection Type > scroll to the bottom of the page

As already mentioned, I was contacted by two different employees CISCO/Linksys and they made it clear that they will offer no help without a TAC: "I suggest you open a Tac case. You must have a valid contract with Cisco TAC prosecute. »

Given that it's Aussie an easy solution, I'm surprised (and disappointed) that they do not say: "there is a bug, move the router to manual MTU"

FRAMEWORK

-My RV042 unit is less than 1 year (bought new)

-the questions began at the present time I upgraded the firmware of the device to version 1.3.12.19 - tm

-my router is configured as a WAN with DMZ, in other words, no Dual WAN

  • RV042 vpn - stops passing traffic but remains connected

We have two boxes with a VPN tunnel RV042 connecting.  No problem, initiating the tunnel or passing traffic initially.  However, after "a certain" time (apparently random amounts of time) the VPN stops passing traffic.  Then, someone needs to go in web admin and disconnect/reconnect the VPN how it's ok once again.  What now happens several times a day.  FW ver is 1.3.12.6 on both sides - and addresses static ip from the ISP on both sides as well.  Any ideas on how to solve this problem?

    Thank you
    Drew

    Drew,

Sorry I don't have a solution for you, but your post almost made me cry. We are experiencing the same problem, but with the VPN gateway to gateway static to the dynamic. I was hoping that the problem should go away if I could make the static dynamic side. It seems now I'm looking for other solutions. I wish you luck and thank you for bringing This gap to my attention.

  • Two RV042 VPN has been a problem to get to the third-party router

Hello, I have two RV042 connected via VPN very well.    First network let's call A.A.A.A Second network have also RV042 to B.B.B.253.   B.B.B. network, we have Cisco router another provider to B.B.B.254.    On this second network configuration on B.B.B.253 (our default gateway) saying that all traffic will C.C.C.C I have routing tables (just an IP address not a subnet) must pass through the router Cisco at B.B.B.254 and the location of B.B.B.B works well.

What I'm trying to accomplish, is the unique through the RV042 VPN network A.A.A.A than when I go to C.C.C.C of IP address and get passed out through B.B.B.254 (Cisco of the seller).   I had the seller put the roads in their router to be able to deliver the A.A.A.A network and can ping on both networks.   Specifically, I can ping from A.A.A.A to B.B.B.254.   However, I would like to install my on A.A.A.A routing tables so that whenever someone goes to the unique address of C.C.C.C it passed through the VPN to the B.B.B.254.   All my efforts have failed.   I do not exclude the seller screwed up somewhere, but have been working on this all day and am running out of ideas.  It's for all the suggestions and thanks for any help!

    Concerning

It is not possible. The RV042 using a simple IPSec VPN Tunnel tunnel. Plain IPSec has routable interfaces. You cannot add static routes to handle additional traffic through the tunnel. IPSec will be tunnel only traffic that matches local & remote security groups. Because C.C.C.C is not part of a security group that he will not get in the tunnel.

  • RV042 VPN site to Site

Hello please could someone help me regarding my PROBLEM with VPN site-to-site.

I have installation of gateway to gateway unfortunetly I don't have any static IP address, so I have 2 accounts of DynDNS.org on two installation Sites. The two RV042 connect to another router/Modem.

I put the two as router in router Mode and not as a gateway.  The VPN status remains tab just to "waiting for connection" I can see the dynamic IP address to connect remotely on the main site and distance from each other.  I can ping so two dyndns names.  But unable to connect...

The VPN log shows the following.

ERROR: error report asynchronous network on eth1 to message to the port of 105.237.1.xx 500, complainant 192.168.137.153: no route to the host [errno 148, original ICMP type 3 code 1 (unauthenticated)]

What is the main site and 192.168.138.0 the remote site, the main site has a subnet of 192.168.137.0

Please could someone help me or point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance.

Hi Stephen, it may be a few problems. The first is maybe that you said that you have a modem/router device, this means that it is for the RV042 nating.  If that's the case then the modems/routers upstream need port forwarding to go to the RV042. ICMP type 3 is a destination unreachable error. That means subnet remote th could not be reached by the applicant rv042. This can withdraw your NAT problem with modems/routers.

So, first thing I would do is port before all the RV042 services to make sure that the firewall on the modems/routers aren't pipe upward works.

    Any ideas how to fix?

    Thank you

    Hi Taras,.

I think it should be option SIP ALG must be configured on the RV042

Then go to the webgui interface and open a hidden page

    https://IP.address.of the.router/f_general_hidden.htm

and you can see the SIP ALG option

Please let me know after your tests

    Thank you

  • Errors of certificate RV042 browser by connecting to the web-based GUI

I put the RV042 for QuickVPN access.  The router config recommend turning on HTTPS in the firewall when using QuickVPN.  The side effect of this is any web browser get me certificate errors and warns me not not to continue to connect to the router config.  How can I fix this so the browser does not throw these messages?

Router Linksys brand is using the latest firmware for this material (1.3.13.02 - tm)

    Hi Tim,.

The deeper issue, it's because of the certification on the cisco.com area which you do not own. And when you connect to your router probably with your own domain name or ip address that it compares this information with the information stored in the certificate. Because it will never match across is a mistake. The RV0xx series routers are not able to install 3rd party certificates, then it will not be able to resolve in their current version. I'm not aware of any decision to modify the code to solve this problem. The RV220W and SA500 series routers have the ability to install a third-party certificate. The SA is the only other model that has the ability in the line of small business to double WAN.

  • Connection problem SSL QuickVPN for RV042 only through ISP specific

    Hello

I noticed a frequent problem using QuickVPN to connect via a RV042.  With an access provider specific (Rogers cable) occasionally for a particular location internet to the Canada QuickVPN stop to be able to connect in my work VPN (although a RV042), even if it had been fine connection before (and can often connect through the same ISP somewhere else).  Although the RV042 is reached and a TCP connection is formed, the SSL connection fails and the problem persists indefinitely.  If I connect to the computer (a laptop Windows Vista) to another ISP, I am able to connect properly.  Restart the cable modem/router do not solve the problem.  I saw once a occurring in similar problem with another ISP (DSP from Bell internet to the Canada), but in this case restart the modem/router DSL has solved the problem.

I suspect that the edge router in the ISP meets certain problems related to the delivery of SSL connection.

If anyone has experienced this problem or knows a resolution?

    Thank you
    Mark

The only configuration for PPTP is to activate the feature, specify the subnet, the router assigns to the logged-in user, then make a PPTP user. It is about as fast as QVPN and uses the built-in MS client.

  • Cisco RV042 VPN hub and spokes, connecting spokes question

    Hello

I have a few Cisco RV042 router and VPN links them with a hub and spoke topology.

Each speaks VPN works, they manage to connect to the platform.

The hub can see each VPN active rays.

A computer under the hub can connect to a computer in any talks.

A computer under any talks can connect to a computer running the hub.

    Which works very well.

Now, what I really need, is to connect computers under a RADIUS to connect to computers under another spoke.

    It don't work.

    Current configuration of LAN:

    HUB IP / mask: 192.168.0.1 / 255.255.255.0

    Spoke1 IP / mask: 192.168.1.1 / 255.255.255.0

    Spoke2 IP / mask: 192.168.2.1 / 255.255.255.0

I was wondering if the Cisco RV042 can be configured to allow that and HOW?

If we can not do, should what other router I use as a hub? Should I change the rays as well?

Thank you and have a nice day

  • RV042 and Windows 7 w / QuickVPN cannot connect

I have a RV042 are we able to access with XP using the QuickVPN client, but now we have added a laptop running 7 Home Premium 64-bit.  I downloaded the most recent client (1.3.0.3), run it in compatibility mode (Windows XP, tried the SP2 and SP3), you router status indicates I'm online, but the client gets in regard to verification of network, then information windows appears which States: "the remote gateway is not responding.  You want to wait? »

I also tried the VPN Client built into Windows without success, the connection failed with the error number 800.

Looking for any assistance with this.  I'm sure its with Windows 7, as the XP boxes have no connection problems.

Thanks in advance for any help,

    Dan

Fast VPN is not yet supported for windows 7.  The 1.4.X.X release will support this and will be published shortly.  Sorry, I don't have a date for this.

  • RV042 VPN connection issues

    Hello

I've successfully connected two RV042s to establish a VPN gateway to connect to a VPN gateway. I have follow up questions, please comment:

    1. I want to keep the time of indefinite VPN tunnel connection. Is it enough by ticking the 'Keep-Alive' on the VPN-> gateway-to-gateway-> page in advance? Or, I ping the RV042 periodically?

    2. the "Phase 1/Phase 2 times of HIS life" (on-> page from gateway to gateway VPN) settings have no impact on the maintenance of indefinite time of VPN connection? What are the optimal values for them?

    3. is there an API, command or a script to replace a manual by clicking on the button "CONNECT" to establish the VPN to VPN tunnel-> summary page? Or, is there a way to achieve the power upward?

    4. is there a way to establish a VPN tunnel bypassing the connection and clicking on the button "CONNECT"? (Auto connect to power up)?

Thank you in advance for the comments.

    Hello Stephen

I have a question as well. We have a RV042 that does not restore the connection

unless we hit the Connect button. Then everything is fine - after a while he gave up the connection

Yet once and we have to connect and log in again

    Still having the problem?

  • The RV042 web utility screen turns off after the connection

I'm running a new RV042 with the latest firmware (4.1.1.01).  I put about 2 weeks ago and have been running without a problem.  Today, I tried to go the web utility to make a few changes.  I was invited for the user and password name, which seems to accept (if I typed in the wrong he rejected), and then the screen went blank (normally I would get the status display now.)  Instead, the screen I get is the blue light of the login screen, but there is nothing about it.  The router is passed to the https://192.168.1.1/home.htm page

I have tried different browsers and access it from multiple computers - the situation is always the same.  I rolled power the router, and there is no change.  I suspect that the next step is a manual reset to factory settings - but of course I'd rather not (as I'm not saving all my settings of course!)

Any suggestions for how to get to see the content?

You can try to clear the cache of your browser.

  • RV042 - PAT does not

    Hello

I have access to the different machines behind the RV042 on ports 80 or 443.

Each machine can be paid locally to the private IP address.

So if I read it right, I have to configure UPnP functionality to do the translation, but it does not work:

    HostA TCP 2000 80 192.168.1.50 Activated
    Hood TCP 2002 443 192.168.1.14 Activated
    HostC TCP 2003 443 192.168.1.15 Activated

    Table of UPnP

But I can still connect to HostA on a web browser using " http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:2000 ".

I read several topic on this subject, and I do not understand what Miss me.

Any help would be much appreciated.

    Thank you!

I found a post that mentions the RV042 with the only way to convey the different external port internal port is upnp router function. If you were on the right track with the op.

Unfortunately, the same post says that it does not work if Port Forwarding is enabled.

  • How to configure a RV042 behind a DSL Modem?

I have a router RV042 VPN that I try to use VPN in to my computer at home. My House uses a DSL modem to connect to the Internet. How to configure the ADSL modem to connect the router?

The modem is a gateway and I put this bridge mode and changed the router RV042 to PPPoE (according to your instructions) and now I can able to administer the router RV042 from my work computer and get out to the internet from my computer at home, one more step. Now when I try to VPN using PPTP in it connects then drops out me after about 1 minute of sometimes more sometimes less, but never more than a few minutes. I tried to adjust the MTU on the documentation of support, but that did not help. Any thoughts?
