RV180 VLAN

One VLAN can be set to prohibit traffic say after opening hours? I am considering the product for coffee to a customer. I would like to stop VLAN carrying free WiFi traffic after hours.

Hey Terp, even if you cannot disable specifically a VLAN, the router has a few features for the times. If you plan to use a RV180W, you can schedule an SSID to be active during certain periods.

In addition, you can create outbound firewall rule to block the whole subnet of VLAN 2 during the reporting period. See page 80 of the admin guide and scroll through the next few pages

    Hello

I have a network set up between two buildings.  Each building has its own internet connection and a DHCP server, build one using a RV180W router and building B using a linksys product.  A WDS Bridge has been implemented between the two buildings using two wireless access points.

The goal here is to allow clients in each building to their respective DHCP server IP address (and thus use internet connection of the building), and yet still access network resources (for example, file storage, printer, etc.) in the other building if the need arise.

I tried to put in place with the RV180 to assign IP addresses in the 192.168.0.xxx range to its customers in building a and the linksys to assign IP addresses in the range B building 192.168.1.xxx.  I activated the Vlan 1 and 2 VLANs on the RV180 - vlan 1 is running a DHCP server for the construction.  VLAN 2 is running a DHCP server and is directly connected to the bridge WDS for building B.  Inter Vlan routing is enabled on the two Vlan 1 and Vlan 2.

On the bridge WDS modules, ive assigned the two static IP in the range of 192.168.1.xxx (vlan 2 range).  I specified their dns and default gateway as 192.168.1.2 which is the static address for the RV180 to the vlan 2.

From a PC in the vlan 1, I can ping and access the interface webgui for bridge WDS modules that are in Vlan 2.  However, I cannot ping any other computer in Vlan 2 that is configured to accept a dynamic IP address from the DHCP server running in the B building.  I guess that's because the WDS modules link to the RV180 that their gateway server and default dns, while that customers who subscribed to one IP address dynamic point building B DHCP on this device as default gateway and DNS.

Someone can help me in this regard, or is there a better way to do it?  Is it still possible?  I plan to try to change the DNS and default gateway on the side of the building B of the WDS Bridge for the values of the B building to see if that helps, but I'm concerned I would lose all connectivity to the webgui for building A interface, if I do that.  What a DHCP relay?  Any help is very appreciated.

    Hello Justin,

Yes, you may have to play with the static routes a little to find the right... I'm thinking what would be the best route.

Not the routing inter - vlan should work. It is not because the RV180 makes the routing... If you have default gateways are pointing to the Linksys so he doesn't know how to make intervlan routing... That's why the static route comes into play... you say how to get to the RV180 traffic, so it can do the intervlan routing... traffic all simply not going to the RV180w at this point.

The reason for which the router is able to ping the linksys because they are on the same subnet.

I would try to create a static route like this...

    RV180: Destination IP 192.168.1.0

    Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0

    Default gateway/nexthope: 192.168.1.1

    Linksys: Destination IP 192.168.0.0

    Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0

    Default gateway/nexthope: 192.168.1.2

Linksys rule is important. He is revealing the linksys, if you try to reach the 192.168.0.0 network you must go to 192.168.1.2 first instead of going to 192.168.1.1 well enough. Once that traffic goes to 192.168.1.2 the RV180 will now be how to get to the 192.168.0.0 network due intervlan routing.

You should not have the static route in the RV180... Try the static route in the Linksys, but it wouldn't hurt to add the static route in the RV180w as well.

I think you should be good to go at this point. I would like to know how it works!

    Thank you

  • Implementation of VLAN / QoS for VOIP on RV180

I posted earlier about setting up VLAN / QoS for VOIP on the SG200-18 (see: https://supportforums.cisco.com/discussion/12193666/setting-vlan-and-qos...).

I did go ahead and buy the RV180. I connected to SG200-18.

I wish to proceed with the implementation of VLAN / QoS on the RV180 so my phone (Grandstream VOIP wireless phone) VOIP is on its own VLAN separate from the rest of the network, so make sure that all QoS settings are optimized to give the first priority of VOIP network telephone.

Currently I still have the VOIP phone connected to SG200-18 as stated in the previous post.

    Here are my questions:

1 should I leave the VOIP phone connected to the SG200-18 and config all the VLANS, VLANS and VLAN Switch voice settings down to the VOIP phone, or should I plugged the phone VOIP in the RV180? Which would give me better performance and easier to do?

    2. How can I place the VOIP phone on its own VIRTUAL LAN, in addition to optimizing QoS settings so it gets a top priority for the network?

    3. I currently have set VOIP telephone in order to reserve a DHCP address in the 192.168.x range. When you move to the VLAN, should I set the DHCP reservation and/or my firewall settings (I through the firewall as well)

    4. I also get a beta-test VOIP Grandstream office phone. Time of its installation, what I have to plug directly into the RV180 or the SG200-18, and I have to put it on the same VLAN as the phone VOIP without wire Grandstream or VLAN different? It also supports PoE, but the RV180 or SG200-18 model I does not work. If I use an external power supply, connect each device will be OK or might that it became fried?

    Thank you!

    Hello

1 should I leave the VOIP phone connected to the SG200-18 and config all the VLANS, VLANS and VLAN Switch voice settings down to the VOIP phone, or should I plugged the phone VOIP in the RV180? Which would give me better performance and easier to do?

It will not be much difference between being on the switch or on the router, so it is for the most part to the simplicity of configuration performance.  If you plug the phone directly on the router, you will really not disturb trunking VLAN or none of this switch.

This is really what is more convenient, but if you are able to plug into the RV directly I wouldn't worry QoS on the switch.

So let's talk about implementation of the RV180.

First go to network > LAN > belonging to a VLAN.  Enable VLANs, and add a new VLAN for voice (most people use 100 for voice for a reason, but it does not matter).  You will take care to set the port that the phone is plugged in not tagged to the new voice VLAN, and you can exclude the data VLAN of the port.

Then go to several VIRTUAL local network subnets and configure the address range for it configuration DHCP / new subnet (for example 192.168.100.0) If you do not want to use it (makes things a bit easier)

Finally, to enable QoS on the RV go to QoS > QoS WAN profiles.  Activate the WAN QoS, make sure that it is set to the priority mode and add a new entry to the table.  You can name it anything you want (I used VoiP), then set it high priority.

Then go down on the link profile page and add a new entry here. Select the profile you just created in the drop-down menu, set the service to one, select traffic selector VLAN and make sure the drop-down menu for VLAN is the VoIP VLAN.

At this point, we have a configuration where the voice traffic (or basically anything on the VLAN voice) will have priority when it comes out the WAN interface.

    3. I currently have set VOIP telephone in order to reserve a DHCP address in the 192.168.x range. When you move to the VLAN, should I set the DHCP reservation and/or my firewall settings (I through the firewall as well)

The second VIRTUAL LAN should have a configuration of different subnet for him, because I spoke up.  During this process you will place the DHCP server for the new VLAN as well.  You can adjust your reservations for the phones, but it does not really matter what IP they get, since we are prioritizing voice any VLAN, so you don't have set up a reserve, unless you really want to.

    4. the Grandstream phone.

I would put the Grandstream (and all the other VoIP phones that you could get) in the voice VLAN so that he would get the same priority treatment.  At this point with multiple devices, you can indeed install a trunk to the switch (VLAN normal unidentified and voice VLAN Tag) and configure the ports to the voice VLAN for these phones.  Who will ensure that the switch gives priority to the traffic of voice, even if it is probably not as important in their own country on the WAN.

Regarding the PoE device connected to a non PoE switch or a router, there will be no problems.  I'm guessing that the phone also comes with an AC adapter.  It will not feed this power in the thread just because it's PoE, it's pretty much a one-way circuit.

    Hope that helps,

  • RV180 share a printer between VLAN

I have a RV180 that I'm trying to setup in a church with 3 VLAN, I use the default VLAN 1 (10.0.0.xxx) for employees of office and all resources.  VLAN 2 is for Voip phones and works perfectly.  Then VLAN 3 (10.0.3.xxx) is a network of comments.  I would like for the feedback network to have access to a printer with a static IP 10.0.0.50 (a Xerox WorkCentre) which is located on the VLAN 1 but not to have access to other resources on VLAN 1.

How could I go to set it up?  I thought it would be a static route?  But I was not able to run.

Hi Eric, I do not think there is a set of features to make a new access rule for the INTER-LAN communication. Access rules are built only for WAN LAN and LAN to WAN.

I suspect you could get to communicate without problem, but I suspect not, you would be able to limit a host specific to that resource, unless the WorkCentre Xerox had some sort of firewall/access.

It's not because the pings are allowed on the same subnet that they come from a different subnet.

You probably have a firewall problem windows software because that by default, it removes a different subnet icmp echoes.

  • RV180 DHCP Relay

    Hello

Apologies if Im posting in the wrong place, but I am after some help.

What Im trying to do is:

Internet connection - router homepage (for normal home internet) - RV180

    RV180:

2 VLAN (1-10) - which provide IP addresses for my lab at home (DC, server ESXi)

The other addresses DHCP "Relay" between the House 2 router devices (NAS and a PC box)

VLan 1 is set to DHCP relay

VLan 10 is defined on the DHCP server, configured to give IP addresses in the range 192.168.10. *.

The home router is running OpenWRT if that makes a difference

Is it possible to get DHCP traffic on the WAN port to VLAN 1?

    Thank you

    DMO

    Hello

"Is it possible to get DHCP traffic on the WAN port to VLAN 1.

No - since vlan10 and vlan1 are connected directly - and the RfC TCP/IP does not allow this - the router forwards traffic via the directly connected interface.

  • CISCO RV180 - limited VPN access

    Hello!

I use CISCO router RV180 to incoming VPN connections. I'm just learning how to do, I did all the settings and it works now. However, I have noticed that users who connect through their VPN Clients can see the entire internal network. Those who may be limited to only certain local IPs?

For example, my local network is 10.x.x.x. I have CISCO Router Web Interface available to connect to 10.x.x.1 and the Web server I want users to access is on 10.x.x.2. Can I forbid access for VPN users that connect through the IP CISCO address so this 10.x.x.1 address is available for local users only?

    Slava,

What I meant by my intervention is PPTP give you users access to the entire network. With Port Forwarding, users have access to the server that listens on port 443. Because port 443 using the https protocol, it is a secure connection.

If your users have Windows 7 or below, you can try QuickVPN. Simply activate the remote port 443 or 60443 management and add users. (No IKE Policy is necessary because the router must listen QuickVPN connections automatically) With QuickVPN end users will have access to everything on the VLAN 1, so you can create another VIRTUAL local network for devices that do not have access to.

If you use a third-party VPN client as Shrewsoft (Windows) or IPSecuritas (Mac), you should be able to restrict access only to the server. (You will need to create an IKE and VPN policy)

  • Implementation of VLAN and QoS for VOIP on SG200-18

We recently purchased the smart switch SG200-18 to replace a Netgear switch. We are moving our phone service to VOIP through our local ISP as well.

I currently have the VOIP phone plugged into Port 17 on SG200-18 (it is a Grandstream Cordless VOIP phone).

I want to put the VOIP phone on one VLAN separate from the rest of the network and optimize QoS parameters so that the VOIP phone has exceptional audio quality even during network traffic.

    Here are my questions:

    1. do I need to set anything on the type of port to Port 17 (because it resembles a shape any Combo port)?

    2. How can I do to isolate VOIP telephone it's own VLAN (I see the parameters VLANS and VLAN voice, not sure that one to use;) I've tried to set a VLAN and broke the Internet connectivity on the phone until I went and removed)?

    3. do I need to adjust the QoS settings to switch to better optimize the VOIP phone?

Some additional questions about the GS200-18 in general:

    1. do I need to adjust the parameters of the system on the switch time? I am in the Central time.

    2. do I need to adjust the Green Ethernet/Energy Saving parameters or should I stay with the default settings?

In addition, a couple of "getting started" questions for Cisco:

    1. I registered an account My Cisco. What should I do to register my switch with Cisco and associate with my My Cisco account?

    2. What are the benefits of purchasing a contract of Cisco Small Business support, and how much would it cost the SG200-18 (I ordered it from Provantage)? I'm curious to see if it's worth the money.

    Here's my 'features ':

    Switch: SG200-18

VOIP phone: Grandstream DP715 and 710 handsets

Plugged in: Port 17 on SG200-18

    Services: Internet Local (Direclynx)

Type of connection: 3 m down / 500 k up DSL move to a future wireless connection that will give us higher speeds

    Backend VOIP provider: VOIP Innovations

Router: Apple Airport Extreme AC model (all Macs and iOS devices and the OS X Server on the network, so I use the Apple router facilitates installation, because is not QoS, trying to QoS and VLAN in the switch)

    Thank you all!

    Hello

I'll just go to the list again:

    1. sounds good in the port from the drop-down list. So can I just connect the VOIP phone and go with it, correct?

Yes, just plug in ethernet combo port and it will work.

    2. is not an issue, but I agree, Apple likely isn't compatible QoS or VLAN.

    3. thanks for the info on time/NTP settings. If I wanted to go there and try to configure NTP, how much is it and what I have to do? I want to I can give it a quick try.

To Setup NTP on the switch is quite simple.  Go to Administration > Time Settings > time system and check the boxes to activate the main clock Source (SNTP)

Then go to the settings of the SNTP page and add a new entry with the IP address of an NTP server.  There is a list of available NTP servers here:

    http://www.pool.ntp.org/en/

You must also ensure that the switches Administrative default gateway is set correctly (it must be set the to the default gateway, probably the most convenient airport) so the switch can contact the NTP server.  That option is set under Administration > Interface Management > Interface IPv4.  Change the user-defined default gateway and enter the IP address of your airport (or whatever your default gateway for your network)

4 sounds good on the Green Ethernet settings. I'll leave it as default value.

Yes, better to just let those unless you have weird problems with ports disconnect, who can sometimes be caused by Green Ethernet, but if there's nothing like leave it on and save a few watts.

5 sounds good on does not need to attach my passage to my Cisco account. Should I fill out a form any registration of the product with Cisco before calling support?

It is not a record for support.  The only thing we need you to do is to create a Cisco account, but you have already done this, so if/when you call in support, you just need your ID for Cisco (also called a CCOID sometimes) and the serial number of your switch.

    6. thanks for the info on the Service contract. Is it something that I would need to order directly from Cisco or I who would get my Cisco partner (Provantage)? After the three years is up, treat yourself to renewal or it just falls? Is there a certain amount of time I have to buy the Service Contract forward make me ineligible?

Support contracts are purchased through a partner Cisco, or you can get them online for the CDW or Newegg for example.  Basically, you have until the expiry of your current aid for the purchase of a new contract.  For example, right now your switch comes with 1 year of technical support.  You can only buy a contract while it is still active.  Once your three-year contract is about to run out, you're in the same situation.  You can renew it before it expires, however if you leave is up, you will not be able to put a contract on it.  Contracts are not my specialty, however, so you can check with your partner for complete details.

    7. sounds good to how data use VOIP calls. His dislikes too. :-)

I agree, a voice call is not much traffic.  What you have described you probably don't have problems, although of course I can't guarantee that.

    8. because it is from your provider and they specifically mentioned the VOIP, I would say that you'll be fine here.

You had also placed on your airport using access point behind a router in small businesses.  I would like to say that it is possible, a large number of wireless routers have an option to put access point only mode or something like that, but you should check with Apple on how to do it.

Insofar as a Small Business router if you decide to upgrade for the options VLAN or QoS, I would recommend the RV180, or perhaps the RV320.  Two of these models are available with or without wire depending on what you decide to do with the airport.

I think I got all the questions, but if not just let me know,

    Steve,

Excellent happy you guessed it work.

First thing that strikes the second problem is that it is another subnet. Why don't you just create a new vlan on the router. You can have 4 VLANS on routers. You can have them both going at once then. You can also consider opening a new thread on the new problem.

    Thank you

  • Implementation of VLAN for wireless AP with two SSID

I am trying to install a RV180 and 3 wireless access points. I want that the AP is having 2 SSID isolated from each other. IE comments network and core network. I have setup a VLAN and my AP support 802. 1 q and ssid matching of VID. I could get this background work, but things seem to have gotten confused when I plug a POE switch instead of directly in the rv180 of the AP. At this point I don't know exactly what to ask. Perhaps start by providing information based on how I'm supposed to do. I was under the impression that since both devices are supported 802. 1 q I could configure the VLAN on the router and tell the AP to apply a VID of the SSID and thing would work. This is not the case unfortunately. Any help would be appreciated.

Aaron Hi, depends what's this switch. If it's a unmanage switch, it cannot process tags vlan so the switch will only be a member of the vlan native who is connect from the router.

If it is a switch to manage, you must configure the same as the router, a vlan native UNTAG, tag vlan for the connection to the AP and router port.

  • RV180 restrict access to the Site to Site VPN

    Hello

I'm trying to set up my network so that VPN traffic is routed only to a physical single on the RV180 port or to a certain subset of devices on a network.

I have a site to site vpn configuration in a Home Office and connect to the corporate network.  The user has a couple of devices on the home network who need to access the corporate network.

We hope to leave his PC accessible to its home network and the corporate network, but limit other devices to access the vpn.

I think that I could do playing with the subnet, but I just can't get my head around it.

It must be something simpleish to do this, isn't there?

I'd appreciate any help you have.

    Thank you

    Gary

Hi boys, here's a hypothetical situation.

    VLAN 1 is port 1

    VLAN 2 is port 2

VLAN 1 has a switch connected to your local network of services

VLAN 2 has a switch to maintain your VPN.

The configuration of the port for each port would be the vlan respective unidentified.

You can disable the router in order to prohibit intervlan communication. But also, and especially, the vpn is a specific meaning, subnet, you specify the specific ip subnet on the config of the tunnel because the config include not a second subnet will not work it's traffic in the tunnel.

  • RV180

    Hi people,

I'm looking to upgrade one of my router (Linksys) residential customers to the RV180. The company is a coffee shop that offers free WiFi to its customers. I have the network configured and wired, so there's a (192.168.1.xxx) private network and a public network WiFi (192.168.2.xxx).

The MAIN router is xxx 2 and is connected to a DSL modem. DHCP is active. I have access to the network remotely via the router of xxx 2. and he port transmits to the Router 1. XXX via the WAN IP if 2,222 on the private router, what port then passes to a desktop on the network of xxx 1... The private network uses the static IP address for the desktop and POS workstations. The xxx Router WAN gateway 1 is the IP address if the router of xxx 2. Confused yet?

I have two cable access points to the router of xxx 2. No dedicated PC on the public network. Some customers.

I have 2 desktop computers and several cable stations to 1 POS. xxx Router (DHCP is disabled).

So, I hope I can finish with 2 routers and just use and manage one using the RV180. I need to maintain security on the private network (protection against users of wifi), keep the ability to manage remotely.

That in a few words. The RV180 will meet my needs? Can I set up (based on reading how I could configure now things)? Any necessary additional information, just ask. Thank you

Hey Terp, I think the answer is Yes.

RV180 (w) supports a total of 5 VLANS (1 by default and the ability to create 4 others).

Looks like it's the steps for your configuration.

    • Install the router and change the address default IP of 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.2.1
    • Create a VLAN 2, making 2 VLAN 192.168.1.1 subnet
    • Disable intervlan routing option to create a VLAN
    • Associate a port to VLAN 2 only then connect your desired for the Public WIFI AP

Some points to consider when configuring the VLAN, intervlan routing is enabled by default, if you want to keep separate public WIFI, turn this off. You can also disable the "router management" for public WIFI VLAN. The router feature set includes management remotely over the Wan, and you can enable, disable, or change the DHCP protocol for each VIRTUAL LAN as desired. If you configure a Router 2 port VLAN not identified, connecting access point should be on the same network as the VLAN 2, exactly like any point of access for VLAN 1.

If your access points are capable of VLANS, you can configure a port on Router 1 UNTAG, tag 2 and specify the VLAN ID correctly on your AP and it can both networks of service and always remain separate.

Please let me know if that answers your request in a satisfactory manner.

  • App 5.1 server does not not on different VLANS

    Helloooo

I just installed a new server and I use the server application. Everything seemed to work fine until I moved my iMac to a VLAN different. Profiles and update settings do not push to the iMac and sit at a stadium in waiting. Also to register the new iMacs on the server I get to the login server window and it crashes it and does not authenticate. Screen opens by saying that I can open a second window and registration. When I try to register, I get an unknown error and that it fails. It seems timeless. I tried to change a lot of settings prescribed by other users, but nothing helped. Someone at - it advice on what could be the problem.

    See you soon

    Hello

I took the easy on this way and bring a USB ethernet to my mac so that I have two physical interfaces. An in each VLAN.

There are other ways to do this, and this is a good article:

    Hi all
I need to access the 2 VLANS with the controller LAN Marvell Yukon 88E8072 for my Satellite Pro U400. I installed the necessary Configuration utility network Marvell tell me after installation, VIRTUAL local network settings must be mounted in the Device Manager (Windows 7, right click on computer, properties, click device/network management adapters/double on Marvell Yukon 88E8072 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller), I can't find a thing to configure here but wake-on-LAN.

    Any suggestion? Thank you!

    Hello

I think that in this case, you can use a network switch.

I put on the main core SW VLAN 610 and I put to this VLAN IP addreess 100.110.10.1 24-bit etc and it worked fine until yesterday. I change only PLEASE and I enebale STP - loop protect for ports in the range 1-52. (now I rolback this settings as was before)

    STP configuration

Now, every PC that has for a long time what IP range 100.110.10.1 24-bit works fine, but new PC have problem with to get the new IP address. I tested it add a static and same address does not work.

Introduced in second v1910 SW - 48 G VLAN as below

I connect this flexible switch this \port SW 2910 - G 48, 46 (Vlan 610 tag) <>- at v1910-48G\ port 50 SW (Vlan 610 tahgged) other ports on this switch I put not marked.
