  • Connection to routers RVS4000

I have 2 routers of RVS4000 that connects to its own cable modem.  I can independently had each network (router) on the other and successfully connect to the internet.  I need to have each router (networks) communicate with each other via ethernet on each router port.  If I am able to connect routers to each other, will they be able to balance the load.

    1. the routers do not have the ability to load balancing.

    2. an installer of subnet: you have set up the first RVS4000 with 192.168.1.1/255.255.255.0 LAN IP address. Configure you the second RVS4000 with 192.168.1.2/255.255.255.0 LAN IP address. Disable you the DHCP server on each time, or on the second. Connect both routers via a LAN port. You assign static IP addresses on the computers that are supposed to use the second router as gateway. If you let the DHCP server on the first race, all DHCP clients will use the first router as gateway.

    3. two subnet settings: you use 192.168.1.1/255.255.255.0 on the first router. You use 192.168.2.1/255.255.255.0 on the second router. You configure a port (e.g. port 4) on the first router in one VLAN different. You enable routing inter - VLAN. Connect the second router to the first router 4 port. You must then configure static routing for the other subnet. I do not have a RVS4000 and the user guide is not clear what are the configuration options. The second router needs to know what gateway to send traffic to 192.168.1.0/255.255.255.0. The first router should already now the static route if she knows that the other VLAN using 192.168.2.0/255.255.255.0 addresses.

  • E2000 connected to RVS4000

    Latest firmware everywhere)

I use an E2000 as a wireless access point to the Internet, by connecting the E2000 (nec x.x.x.5) LAN to the LAN a RVS4000 (nec XXX1).  The E2000 is set for Automatic Configuration, and everything works fine... Until a power failure occurs... Then, after all starts again...  I get the "NO INTERNET" prompt on the wireless...

Using PingPlotter, since end wireless a computer and another computer with PingPlotter wired side of the XXX1 LAN, I have determined that it is the E2000 which has disconnected from the RVS4000.

I've found a workaround, but... No matter how boots parameter, if I switch away from and then BACK to: NAT DISABLED in Advanced Routing, everything is operational again...  Until the next failure...

Is it possible to make this automatic?

In another forum, there was a suggestion to put the E2000 in Bridge mode in settings WAN... I can not find...

    Suggestions?

Now you know why I waited a year before posting here... Because no solution is available!

I thought that if I posted that the E2000 was the problem, perhaps, just manybe which action would be part of Linksys...

  • RVS4000 routing between VLAN static?

    Hello

I was wondering if the RVS4000 allows a static routing between the VLANS.  I would like to have three VLANS, one for my cable system, one for my wireless network and one for my print server.  I want the two VLAN Wi - Fi and to be able to get to the virtual LAN print server, but do not want the Wi - Fi and VLAN to react reciprocally.  Is it possible to put up with this router without the need of additional routers or a layer 3 switch.  Thanks in advance for any advice that anyone can give.

By default, the VLAN is entirely routed. You do not have to configure routing between VLANs. What to put in place the filter. You must filter the traffic, which you don't want to pass between the VLANS. Set up the ACL according to the needs.

  • RVS4000 selective loss of DNS queries

Is there a configuration option or a known bug that would cause a selective RVS4000 or garble queries DNS

coming on the LAN side by side WAN, yet allow HTTP, SSH and Ping through without problem?  I think I have

very strong evidence that this problem is due to my new satellite ISP, but they insist on sound ' beause router DNS

requests go by with the deleted router.  The same router, configuration and complete the installation has worked with my

    old cable ISP.

After a lot of frustration (because of the EFAH05W be incorrectly labeled a 'hub',

When he is in fact a switch and thus will not support the packet sniffing), I am set me up

with Wireshark, an old, borrowed hub and a portable separate sniffing

packs from the side WAN.  Good DNS responses were indeed

Since name servers, but the RVS4000 was rejecting, return a

ICMP MOUSSOKI 'no such port' for the name server.  I thought that the router has calendar

its NAT rule when connected via satellite (which has round-trip latency

of about 1.3 sec.)  After not finding no way to reconfigure the RVS4000 to hold the

NAT rules any longer, I tried the Netgear RP614v4, just because that was what they had

for the local store.  Which corrects the problem.

(I tried this other router earlier and DNS worked but HTTP has failed.  Must

were the experimental errors, everything works now.)

  • RVS4000 Configuration of VLAN

I am trying to set up a couple of VLAN on the RVS4000.  The router allows me to enter the VLAN ID without problem, but it doesn't seem to be a screen to set up the network and DHCP component for the new configuration of VLAN.  I saved the configuration of the router and printed.  There are several VIRTUAL networks in the configuration with the IP addresses starting with 192.168.2.0/24 and increasing unit (192.168.3.0, 192.168.4.0, etc.).   These networks VLAN contains the DHCP configuration also.  How can I change these addresses.  Is it possible that you can not change them and take what's there and use it?   When I configured a VLAN with ID 30, is to tie the knots got an address in the 192.168.2.0 subnet, which is not what I wanted.  The manual is no help.  He said almost nothing about the configuration of VLANS.  Is there another source for more information on the configuration of the RVS4000 with VLAN?

Also, I downloaded and installed the new firmware for the router.

    Any help is appreciated.

    Tony

Forget it.  I thought about it.  It is on the configuration page and you will need to use the drop-down list for the VLAN configured.

  • Port Forwarding problem through 2 routers RVS4000 2 subnets

I modified a building network to be compliant (Visa) PABP where two router and two subnets are required.

My original CD building network configuration was designed to allow remote access to a server terminal server via the port forwarding on a RVS4000 router. So cables / modems-> xx.xx.xx.xx wan ROUTER lan 192.168.1.1--> subnet 192.168.1.0 with TCP 3389 Port forwarding for 192.168.1.11 (terminal server).

The new configuration of the network is composed of two routers RVS4000 on two subnets. So the Modem cable-> wan xx.xx.xx.xx ROUTER1 lan 192.168.2.2-> Subnet 192.168.2.0-> DMZ 192.168.2.14 and the second router wan ROUTER2 lan--> subnet 192.168.1.0 192.168.1.1 192.168.2.1.

ROUTER1 is configured in Bridge mode and ROUTER2 is configured in router mode. Port forwarding on ROUTER1 to port TCP 3389 is 192.168.2.1 (on ROUTER2 wan port). Port forwarding on Router 2 for the TCP 3389 must 192.168.1.11 port (server address terminal server).

With this new configuration of network I am able to connect to the Terminal Server remotely. No problem with access to the Internet and the 192.168.2.0 subnet from inside the 192.168.1.0 subnet.

So I think my problem is through two RVS4000 routers port forwarding. Any help on this problem will be appreciated.

    Thank you.

    1. can you access the terminal server server from inside the subnet 192.168.2.0/24 using the IP WAN to Router 2, which is access 192.168.2.1:3389 from inside 192.168.2.0/24.

    2. turn on Router 2 router in Bridge mode. Try again. My guess is that this will make the work of transfer. I think that port forwarding is linked to the NAT/gateway mode. No NAT no transfer. Is not logical to use the transfer when you are able to access the IP directly without NAT. Of course, the web interface does not allow you to forward a port located outside the LAN subnet...

    3. are you sure that you can access internet through Router 2 in router mode on the LAN subnet router 2? Usually in the NAT their own LAN subnet routers only bridge mode but not others. If the RVS4000 not NAT a different subnet that would be good to know.

  • RVS4000 Port forwarding

I have a RVS4000 put in place as my internet router/gateway to a client of 75 MS Server 2003 network. All network devices receive a static IP address. I used Port Forwarding and Port Range Forwarding on the RVS4000 to allow remote desktop connection to outside network to specific clients within the network. I have used all available space on the RVS4000 software for the seizure of the Port addresses and still needed to connect multiple users more. I bought a second RVS4000 and connected to the first through one of the lan ports, then the network through another lan port.  I have forwarded a range of addresses of the first router to another and then used the second router port forwarding and port forwarding tables range to the IP addresses of each client. Everything seems to be set up correctly and I can access both routers on the network, the individual port forwarding and the addresses of forwarding port on the first router range still work, but the transmitted address range appear not to be through to the second router and then to the customers. What I am doing wrong?

I think the WRVS4400N has an IP based ACL that you can do to open the ports of the PC. It has a capacity of 1 G more but I don't know if the ACL can handle 25-50 PCs. I suggest you try to contact CISCO technical support so that you can be well informed of the router you need to make it work.

  • RVS4000, port forwarding - with - IP-based ACL

    G ' Day!

I want to know if it is possible to enable port forwarding and paste an IP based ACL on the attacker.

    Scenario:

I replaced my gateway linux with a RVS4000 and reinstalled my linux machine as a file server with sshd running (now residing on my network behind the RVS4000).

I have forwarded port 22 on the RVS4000 on my linux server - it works as expected. Now I want to restrict which IP addresses which may connect to port 22, that I can't go to work.

After I forward port 22 to the linux server I can't control it with IP based ACL. Even if I deny all traffic to port 22, it will leave borrowing at the server linux as long as the port is active.

I am doing something wrong or if this isn't just intended to work the way I want?

acl based port will not work with the port forwarding on the device. Once you transfer the port are all allowede to enter this port. the acl will not take effect. I think that what you want to do the port binding is not a feature of this device.

  • RVS4000 Incorrect time

I have a rvs4000 from cisco with updated firmare V. 1.2.11 and IPS signature in version 1.40 (both updated on 22/03/2009) I have the issue of sub Setup > time > I have these set values: automatically set the local time using the Network Time Protocol (NTP). Time zone: (GMT-5:00 Eastern time (United States and Canada &) automatic time: defined by the user to ACTIVATE the NTP server: DISABLE (tried with my own NTP server, but not made a difference) now with all that said I'm having the issue of when the time is for example 12:17 the router displays as 11:17 ("Alwayse" being an hour off the power) has enybody else noticed this problem?)

Ok thank you. How do I do that? Disable "auto DST" dosent seem to do the trick? So in other words change the time zone to (GMT-04:00) Atlantic (Canada) time?

  • Connect with RVS4000 WRT110

I have a problem when you try to connect the WRT110 with the RVS4000.

The problem is that devices connected on the gift of the WRT110 obtain an IP address and cannot connect on the computer connected to the RVS400.

My setup is the RVS4000 as a gateway and DHCP active. the wrt110 is the secondary router that will be used to access wireless and wired switch.

devices connected on the wrt110 occurred (Popcorn Hour) media center units

on the wrt110 I tryied different configurations to see if I can make it work. LAN to Lan connection. (with dhcp and NAT Protocol on the disabled wrt110) and

with Lan to Wan connection (affecting an ip address static DNS and gateway wrt110 and dhcp and nat disabled)

I ping the wrt110 from computer connected on the rvs4000 and vice versa, but I cannot ping devices connected on the wrt110

I think 2 scenarios that could affect. The routing table of the wrt110 declares 192.168.1.0 with gateway 192.168.1.5 ips (which is the IP wrt110) can change on 192.168.1.1 which is the rvs4000 with the dhcp server?

All wiring passed it must be somewhere in the connection?

    Thanks in advance

You cannot change the ports on the switch N ° the WRT. They are always auto-detection. It seems that negotiation does not work with your media device.

    Options:

    1. connect the device to support to the RVS4000.
    2. find a switch with which the media device negotiate correctly.
    3. get a (expensive) managed switch and set the connection port that you need.

Of course, remember the speed control lower the appliance becomes slower. It depends on how fast the device media is supposed to be and what nic ethernet is integrated.

  • Maximum bandwidth RVS4000

I just installed Comcast Ultra and I am able to get above 40 MB download speed when I connect a PC directly to the cable modem.  When I used my netgear router speed fell to 10 MB, I'm looking at a new router.  The netger is limited to 10 MB due to the WAN port.  I bought a RVS 4000 and I can't seem to get more than 19 MB to download.  Anyone know what the maximum download speed is for the RVS4000?  It cannot be the Mb 1000 light enabled Internet WAN port.  I also tried a Dlink DGL-4500, and he was also able to sustanin more than 40 MB.  I thought the RVS4000 was supposed to be a high range of home router.

    -Mitch

It is a known problem with the RVS4000.  Most users reported a top speed "LAN WAN" of 15 to 18 Mbps.  Speed increases of 20% to 30% if you want disable the IPS feature.

This website claims that they can measure WAN routers LAN speed:

  • Help with the VLAN and RVS4000

I am trying to Setup VLAN on a RVS4000 to share our Internet connection with another office but do not allow access to our network of the other network. We have a BEFSX41 connected to Internet and also connected to our other site via a virtual private network to another BEFSX41. Port 1 on the BEFSX41 connects to Port 1 on an EZXS88W switch.

The other company has provided the RVS4000 and also provides a WRT54GS router. I want to connect 2 ports on the BEFSX41 to Port 1 on the RVS4000 and 2 ports on the RVS4000 to track 1 on the WRT54GS.

Port 1 on the RVS4000 is member of the default VLAN1 and Port 2 will be a member of VLAN2.

    Our IP network is 192.168.20.0/24

    BEFSX41 is 192.168.20.1

    The DHCP service is disabled

The RVS4000 has a static IP address of 192.168.20.254 and is configured as a router

    DHCP is also disabled

The wireless network is as follows:

    IP network is 192.168.21.0/24

The address IP of WRT54GS is 192.168.21.254 and is static and also configured as a router.

I don't know how to actually Setup the VLAN from here and the instructions are not useful. My questions are:

1 port 1 on the RVS4000 must be safe, with label or Untagged?

2 If the interval routing disabled?

    3. If so, how do I route between the RVS4000 and WRIGHT so the two networks have access to the Internet, but not to other networks?

The befsx41 should be one that is connected to the internet so that your final point so that the vpn tunnel work. The wan port on the wrt54g must be connected to the lan of the befsx41 port.

If your server is located behind the befsx41, you should be able to port forwarding. If your server is located behind the wrt54g you may experience the problem with the redirect because you need to forward ports on both routers and according to me, there are some applications that do not work on double NAT.

If you want to have access to the internet on both VLAN of the rvs4000, it should work as a router so its internet port must be connected to the port the befsx41 lan.
