S20 - 12.0 (7.99 GB usable) GB installed memory

Hi all

I just installed 12 GB memory, but Windows 7 reports only 7.99 as being usable. Things I've tried so far:

  • Check the BIOS for an option "expanded memory".
  • Msconfig checked to make sure there is no limit on memory specified.

Googling around a solution positions suggested a BIOS update or change the timings of the RAM. The RAM is all the same kind - 2 GB DDR3 PC-10600 ECC.

Any suggestions would be welcome!

Thank you.

Hello

Thanks for your quick response.

I re-flashed the BIOS and reinstall all the modules and the operating system now logs all of the 12 GB.

FYI - the modules are all the same, but are not Lenovo.

Thank you

F.

    Hello

I update my Satellite P200 (PSPBGA-01W015) for Windows 7 x 64 but I had problem with memory, Windows said: installed memory 4 GB (3 GB usable).

In the resource material say monitor reserved 1026MB

When I check the properties of the graphics card, it is said: NVIDIA GeForce Go 7600 with dedicated 256MB of system memory 1279 MB memory shared, 1535 MB total graphics memory.

I guess that the graphics card occupies only 1 GB of memory but it not there no option anywhere that I can adjust this shared memory (both in the configuration of the Bios and Windows).

The only version of Bios I can find on the site of Toshiba Australia support for my model is "BIOS Version/Date TOSHIBA V1.70, 21/08/2007' which is in fact only supported Windows Vista.

Not sure if I can find the similar to the Web from Toshiba Europe site Bios version? The last time when I upgraded my computer to Windows 7, support staff advised me to site of Europe as well, but the model similar to the differently named Euro market. Now I don't remember that match model Europe with my laptop model Australia.

It seems the support Toshiba Australia not always been well updated Web site. :(

Thanks a lot if someone have a solution for this. Would be appreciated.

    See you soon

    > I guess that the graphics card occupies only 1 GB of memory but it not there no option anywhere that I can adjust this shared memory (both in the configuration of the Bios and Windows).

You are right. The part of the main memory is used by the graphics card, but you can not affect the part of the memory that this is manually controlled by the graphics driver.
If the application being game needs a more graphics memory, the driver assigns this.

  • Usable memory (RAM) less than the installed memory, showing remove Win7 dual-boot.

Original title: "Memory (RAM): 12,00 GB (3.62 GB usable)", how can I resolve this issue and remove a dual boot Win7?

I recently, after experincing problems (see below the Intel SSD), noticed the system said that there is only a 3.62 GB of Ram available in my computer.  I have this statement ' Installed Memory (RAM): 12,00 GB (3.62 GB usable) "the computer has always used a higher around 10-11 GB amount.

I noticed that the Windows performance index was 5.6, after adding an Intell 240 GB SSD, it jumped to 7.6; However, now with the problems is 5.4, caused by the RAM.

I ran the full memory diagnostics: start-up and verification of memory it says I have 12 GB of RAM can be used across both.  I asked with Asrock if my RAM and CPU compatible before buying it, and they said it was a wise decision for 970 Extreme4 motherboard.  I subsequently has inquired about the Kingston RAM and included information from a - Data, and they said they used Kingston ringout for approval process as with a - DATA, including the compatibility of the different types of RAM used together.  The RAM was tested and is placed on the store of the computer.
This problem did not exist until I installed the Intel SSD.

I don't have a problem with dual boot on my computer after installing a new 7 ultimate on the SSD, and when it worked normally, I atttached the old hd back into your computer, because important data it contains.  This caused a situation of dual-boot.  I did some research and jumped the drive as a slave thinks that it would not cause a problem.  How can I remove Windows 7 from the old hd and then remove the window dual-boot.  I tried the old way to change the startup configuration, however, I can't find it in 7 Ultimate SP1. I also sent the old HD and the start window remained, as the index and the usable Ram 3.62.

    My Questions as already said:
How can I return to a usable 12 GB of RAM and return the highest Index of Exp Win?
How the dual boot can be edited to boot from my SSD without window startup and remove window 7 my old HD eventually without formatting?

  • ' Installed memory (RAM): 8.00 GB (3.12 GB usable) ", what does that mean?

Recently, I added 4 GB memory to my existing 4 GB, for a total of 8 GB of RAM.

After installation, I checked system properties to find this info.  ' Installed memory (RAM): 8,00 go-go (3.12 useable).
In addition, 'Windows Experience Index' before when I had a single 4 GB stick was 7.4, now after adding another stick of 4 GB, it came down to 5.9.
Does this mean the extra 4 GB of RAM, I added is not used and is only slow down my computer?

  • ASA5585-S20-K9 from 8.2 to 8.4 upgrade memory required?

Have an ASA5585-S20-K9 and I need to get from 8.2 to 8.4.  Currently has 4 GB of memory, but it needs to be improved to a minimum of 8GB.   I searched high and low for a kit to upgrade for the 5585 but do not come with anything.  Found for the 5540 and below, but there must be something special about the 5585 s I can't find anything.

If anyone has an idea on what I need to get to level set memory, it would be appreciated.

    Chris

    Hello Chris,

According to usually at the documentation below, we can see that ASA 5585 comes with 12 GB of memory. Please see the 5585-s20 ASA data sheet below.

    http://www.Cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/security/ASA-5500-serie...

Firstly, please note if you are running 8.2.x code on your ASA5585-s20. It seems that ASA 5585 SSP-20 will watch 4 GB of RAM which is expected for the 8.2 software with no support for 64-bit (so it cannot process more than 4 GB of RAM in the application of the ASA). If you switch to 8.4 example software, which supports 64-bit, all of the 12 GB of RAM will be used.

    Release notes for 8.4;

    http://www.Cisco.com/c/en/us/TD/docs/security/ASA/asa84/release/notes/as...

The memory required for the upgrade:

    http://www.Cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/security/ASA-5500-serie...

Also on the way to upgrade from 8.2 to 8.4.

    Things to remember: -.

Upgrade from 8.2 to 8.4 ASA, is NOT a minor update. There are a few things that are need to keep in mind:
    1. NAT statements are completely different.
    2. the IP addresses used in ACL are real IP (not translated)
    3. it is recommended that you take the time to stop for this upgrade.

Things to do before the update: -.
    > Disable NAT control over the two ASA.
    > Check the memory required for the upgrade.
    > Take configure Backup.
    > Follow the upgrade path as mentioned below.

Things to do after the update: -.
    > after reclassification of 8.2.x to 8.4.7, you must check the start config error.
    > present the startup-config errors, it will show that NAT and ACLs statement has not been
migrated, so we can manually configure these instruction.
    > arp permit-nonconnected.
    > Of 8.4.7 9.1.4 or 9.1.5, you can migrate directly.

    Hope this information helps you.

    Kind regards

  • installed memory of Windows 7 Professional 32 bit - 4 GB ((Mo 935 usable)

I have problem with my hp pavilion g6 series.

I installed windows 7 Professional 32 bit, 4 GB memory, but usable only 935,
Core i5 with chipset intel. should I update bios for this.
    can someone give good solution.
    Thank you
    Sikandar

    Hi Sikandar,

Let us work together to solve this problem.

This is expected behavior on computers that are running Windows 7. The reduction in available system memory depends on the configuration of the following:

    ·        The devices that are installed in the computer and the memory reserved by these devices

    ·        The ability of the motherboard to manage memory

    ·        The version of the BIOS system and settings

    ·        The version of Windows 7 that is installed (for example, Windows 7 Starter Edition does support 2 GB of memory installed.)

    ·        Other system settings

I ask you to follow the steps and the instructions in the following article:

Usable memory may be less than the memory installed on Windows 7 computers

  • Windows detects the installed memory (RAM) 32.0 GB. Then there (16.0 GB usable)

Windows detects the memory (RAM) installed 32.0 GB. Then there (16.0 GB usable). OS is windows 7 64 bit. Why are there only 16.0 GB usable? and how to fix this? Thank you

For 64 bit versions of Windows 7, Home Premium can use a maximum of 16 GB, Professional and Ultimate can use up to 192 GB.

If you want to use all 32GB, upgrade to 64-bit professional or ultimate edition.

    THX

    Cath

Adding RAM is not just a question of 32-bit or 64-bit. There are two other factors to consider. You can meet the limitations imposed by the motherboard. The limit for your computer is 8 MB, even for a 64-bit operating system. You should also check that the version of Windows is not limited. -see the table in the following link:
    http://msdn.Microsoft.com/en-us/library/Windows/desktop/aa366778 (v = vs. 85) .aspx #physical_memory_limits_windows_7

  • Installed memory (RAM): 6,00 (3.99 GB usable) GB 'can anyone help.

    (64-bit), Windows 7 Home Premium

There are other parties, such as the DVD burner, but I don't think that important.

What should I do? I don't want to mess with the BIOS without knowing what to do.

So your update of the BIOS allowed to use all installed RAM except 9 MB allocated to the material. Which for me is a good result.

  • Configuration of memory S20

Is it ok if we mix the modules of 1 GB and 2 GB?

    Causes performance problems?

I have four modules of 2 GB and a 1 GB modules. I have only 2 GB modules installed on my system. Now, I think installing the module of 1 GB more.

    Thank you.

Yes, this combination will work according to the guide to spare for the S20 material...

When you install memory modules, use the following instructions:

    • Use of 1.8 V, 240-pin DDR3 ECC UDIMM.

    • Use 1 GB, 2 GB or 4 GB memory modules in any combination up to a maximum of 24 GB.

    • First, install the modules of memory in the memory locations of blue color.

as long as you follow these rules, you will be ok.

  • HP 550: updated hp 550 memory and cpu with the unconventional settings. is not ideal, but not other choice

HI guys, I hope you can help or at least give a point in the right direction. I am a freelance photographer with a large part of the suite creative Adobe CS6. After a disaster of a week, I came home to find the motherboard on my editing station is fried somehow. I don't know what happened though I wouldn't put past my inattention of roommates.
I'm desperate. I have to finish my current job until I'm able to afford to buy a replacement. So I have to rely on stop-gap measures, in desperation to finish my project, that are less than ideal, but so far are doing better than I'd hoped.
Im a photographer, Capture One, Adobe Photoshop Lightroom, Adobe Photoshop and Premiere Pro are the go for workaholic applications that I need to work. without them I have no income. in order to have this machine run these applications,
the machine I have left is an old hp 550 that was gathering dust in the closet. It was built for 32 bit Win XP and in no case is designed to run adobe products food pork I use, particularly of Lightroom.
Unfortunately PS with Lightroom and first are 64-bit programs and LR and first are hyper threaded. so I did some research and with the help of the list of the utility windows 7 Advisor to upgrade instructions, I was able to get windows 7 Pro 64-bit to install and run.

I know that this is not the ideal machine or the situation, but for a few weeks, I need to make it work.

I really just 2 simple questions. First of all, I went to the HP technical support. but they were not useful. as the guarantee of the laptop are long gone, they would be not even polite and basically told me to shove off. Then on another forum, I called back and comes with a knowledge it all who constantly insisted on the fact that there was no way no how this pc could run 64 bit win 7, which i thought what am I seeing things? It works very well for 3 months. So I decided to come to you. your forums were useful on many occasions.

Basically, I need this machine to run these programs during the next month or two, until I can buy a new machine.

essentially, what I want to know, it's the motherboard support an upgrade of the processor? and if anything goes, what do you suggest as a substitute, given my needs? The Core 2 duo is the bare minimum of what I can limp with like photo/video rendering times are excessively slow.

then I was talking to the support staff essential tech upgraded memory. and possibly set the bios to force to run 8 gigs of ram. They said that they have cold cannot find any version of bios that would make that possible, but only by forcing already run 64 bit, which has already allowed the pc to use the full 4 GB of ram, which was impossible in the 32-bit format. He suggested that I buy 2 4 gig modules such as 4 GB DDR2 PC2-5300 unbuffered NON - ECC, 1.8V 512Meg x 64 which can be seen at http://www.crucial.com/usa/en/memory/ct51264ac667 and try to install the full 8 concerts and see what would happen, saying that he had a feeling that I might get lucky. his logic is that the 64-bit system already open the ram limits and who knows, you can't make an omelet without cracking of eggshells! It seemed very optimistic. So, what do you think? It seems likely you because I love to work. or do you think the guy was a quack? and this whole endeaver is a waste of time and money?

also, any other suggestions on how to time this month long storm that do not involve suggestions of buying new machines would be appreciated!

Unfortunately, the maximum configuration is a processor T5670 1.8 ghz and 4 GB of DDR2-667 memory, you already have. The CPU includes the 64-bit instructions is not surprising, that it can run Windows 7 64-bit. My best advice is to save your money for when you can get a real working machine. The only other likely to help is a solid state drive, you might use in the laptop and then also use the new computer that you intend to buy.
