S7 392-9439 RAM
I bought a new 392-9439 S7 with 256 GB SSD, 8 GB of RAM and CPU Intel i7-4500U. for use while pursuing my master's degree in engineering. I thought that I would run a lot of data intensive programs and I wanted portability so I went with this model. Plus, I got a lot from the Microsoft online store and did not get the usual bloat-ware. While its been a great machine for use at school, I now work in big data, and I'm under reports humongous - exponentially larger than my original intent.
I have now 3 computers, and although Acer is always the fastest and most compatible with each other, I still need better data shredding ability. Before you go out and buy a desktop computer with 3 + GHz and 16 GB of RAM, I would like to know if I am able to upgrade the RAM in my 392? As I said, it has the 8 GB, and I would like to inrease it to 16 if I can.
First, before I open the case and look around, is RAM soldered to the Commission? Or can I simply pass out?
Second, if the RAM is welded, I certainly don't try to change it. But can I use some of the SSD to create a virtual disk (I read about it online, but I am skeptical as to whether or not it will help)? That positively or negatively affect his ability to crunch enormous data sets?
Thank you
You can use SSDS as a virtual disk, it will provide good performance and help the need for more ram.

Acer aspire s7-392-9439: lack of default boot device or startup failed.
Hello
I bought an Acer aspire s7-392-9439 3 months ago. It has been working fine, until yesterday.
I turn on the computer and it poped a blue screen with the error: 'lack of default boot device or startup failed'.
This error reminded me that a message on a bios updated poped over a few days and I have the chance to install it.I contacted acer support, I was told that the update of the bios would have avoided this problem. Also, they told me to try things that can help, but unfortunately none of them has:
1 restore the default bios settings.
2. change the bios settings: uefi to legacy.
3 type the Windows key + c when the computer starts. When these options do not have they said it is probably a hardware problem and I should send my computer to their repair center.
My questions are:
1. If they updated bios would have prevented the problem, how can it be a hardware problem?
2 - does anyone know how to solve the problem?I would appreciate your help,
MichaelI had the same problem. Tried the diskette of starting BACK and did not work.
Here's how I solved it:
(apologies to memory are some terms is not on-site)
1. download the Setup file of the BIOS - link provided above in this thread (isST2212.exe)
2. on a Windows 8 machine that works - search for 'Create a recovery disk' and run on a USB drive
3. copy the file #1 to the USB drive once it's done make a recovery disk
4. in the Acer BIOS (press F2 during startup), change to the method of priming of the legacy
5 save and exit
6. turn in the BIOS and move the option USB HDD as first boot device
7. Save and exit
8. you will end up in a Windows 8 recovery console
9. go to Advanced Options - find the option that leads you to the command prompt
10. from there I went to d: drive and found my file isST2212.exe - run by typing the file name when you are in the folder
Make sure that you are connected to power - let it run. It should install, automatic restart and you should be in business.
I had an Acer offer to fix it for free with a 7-10 day turn around and at the risk of losing all my data. It's a much better solution!

Aspire unlike the model S7-392
Can someone tell me the difference between these two models?
- Aspire S7-392-7863 (NX. MBKAA.029)
- Aspire S7-392-9439 (NX. MBKAA.015)
There is the only difference in the specs is supported memory card, they say "Secure Digital (SD) card" and the other "Secure Digital (SD) ' (without 'map'), which I suppose is just typographical.
Sale has no help because they sell not really either one of these two models.
Thank you!
The Aspire S7-392-9439 (NX. MBKAA.015) is sold by Microsoft stores and has a load Signature Microsoft. A Signature Microsoft support: there is no third-party software installed in order to improve the operating system. Other than that, the systems are identical in material and specifications.

Hey guys,.
Thanks a lot for taking a peek at my post.
I have the Satellite C660-108. I think the upgrade to 3 GB up to 8 GB ram.
I'll be very grateful if someone could answer my questions before making a purchase. It is a model of Ram. I think of buying.
Kingston HyperX Plug and Play DDR3 1600 MHz CL9 8GB SODIMM Memory Module
I wonder if it would correspond to my laptop?
Also, I found this on C660-108
Type: Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator HD
amount of memory: 1 273 MB shared memory with 3 GB of installed system memory and up to 1 696 MB with 4 GB of system memory, (with system of 64-bit pre-installed operating)
memory type: shared. If I update up to 8 GB ram it would mean my graphics system memory will be up 3 392 MB as well?
Thank you very much.
Kit
According to the technical page of Toshiba laptop, 8 GB of RAM (2 x 4 GB) are certainly possible.
Kingston is a good manufacturer of RAM and provide good quality modules. The RAM modules should support the following sepcs:
DDR3 1066 MHz (PC3-8500)Processor PENTIUM P6100 (2.00 GHZ) supports a 1,066 MHZ FSB and therefore the PC3-8500 must operate at full speed 1066 MHz
> f I upgrade ram to 8 GB it would mean my graphics system memory will be up 3 392 MB as well?
More RAM means more can be shared with the GPU, but this is controlled by the graphics driver automatically. -

How you upgrade the RAM on Mac mini (end of 2014)
The Support page says it is not accessible, but everything is assembled (without guarantee) just to write this post in Safari with open iTunes I am hitting 3.3 4.0 GB.
I've always liked Apple since the first iPod came out, but I didn't know that their computers were also disposable.
I guess I should know better when the price is only a little higher then the Apple TV, I went to buy, but it's the first Apple computer, I buy, and it's better than my Apple TV ver1 who died.
So when I cut it open I find accommodation from the PIN and what chip will take the 1.4 GHz, 4 to 8 GB machine.
I guess there is only one slot (pinout) and it is probably welded in.
No, they were serious
the RAM is welded in there. You can not remove it.

Blue screen and bad RAM memory?
My MBP 2011 early all just stopped working yesterday, it worked very well without any problem of performance for the last 5 years, and then suddenly a blue screen (of death) and it has problems starting.
He will ring the Bell to start, display the bar loading and Apple, and then there will be a glitch on the big screen (horizontally) 1 inch above the Apple, after that, the fans speed up and all that I see a gray screen, not user interface.
I zapped the PRAM/MSC and tried the unique memory sticks, I have no spare RAM on hand, but who will order soon.
Tips to solve this problem?
AHT says this - 65/4MEM/4000000000: 0x84f6f918
Google says it is bad memory
Here is the BSoD:
I think you have a problem of memory, although if your MacBook Pro 15 or 17 inch, you should consider video issue as well now.

8gig of ram will be enough to use windows?
I'm about to buy a macbook pro. This is the model of 512 gigabytes, 3.1 GHz, 8 GB ram. I want to only install windows to play spintires and that would be it. If I install windows and steam then spin tires it will the macbook running slower?
rotating the tires to the requirements
CPU: 2.5 GHz Dual Core RAM: 4 GB If you install Windows using Boot Camp Windows wizard will use all your computer RAM, 8 GB, when you start in Windows. It's more than enough RAM for Windows and a spin the requirements that you have posted.
If you boot into OS x, OSX will use all 8 GB of RAM.

Font managers of the RAM and fonts
Hi all
I feel that the ability to enable and disable individual fonts using font (font book or third party) management software is designed to eliminate RAM memory (or at least somehow the unloading of the treatment of the Mac).
I also believe I read that he mentioned somewhere that all fonts placed in the user/Library/Fonts location are always active in the RAM, and this is perhaps why it is important to not just throw hundreds of fonts in this folder.
I wonder:
-If above are true?
-If you use third-party font management software to disable a font placed in the folder User/Library/Fonts eliminates actually he RAM memory (as is probably for policies outside the system of appointed police records)?
-If none of this is true, then why even should we use font management software to disable or deactivate fonts - why not just let them all turned on if they are not in the RAM?
I want to make sure that I fully understand. I hope that this will help me make more informed decisions about my workflow of font management.
I'm under El Capitan 10.11.6, although I don't think that this specificity is relevant.
Thanks for the informed answers!
I don't think you are quite correct, I hope someone will correct me if I'm wrong but here is my assessment of the situation...
All installed or active policies are not loaded in RAM at startup because it would be than a useless on memory limited to Macs. System fonts will be loaded into memory as they are usually required.
I believe that certain police functions get cached, such as previews of the fonts that are used in some applications, these selection committees are often written cache files stored on the drive that I can tell.
Installation and activation of the thousands of fonts may cause some problems as apps may need to generate previews of these fonts - for example MS Word has its own custom selector of fonts that use the real font for names selection. Some design apps can analyze or search fonts when opening certain documents with the related font styles. Other applications such as TextEdit, Mail system use based Gatherer so that they benefit the plan puts large fonts in cache.
The reason of FontBook is to assist in the management of fonts. OS X uses the 'library' system to allow multiple levels of abstraction, by example/System/Library is for OS-level files (stuff own apples), / library of the third parties who rely on the scale of the support system, ~/Library for user specific files. There is even in charge of resources to be stored in/Network/Library for use with a server on a WAN.
Manage all this complex without a central application. In my view, that order preference is the user on the highest levels, so your own user fonts folder is selected on the system if you named the same way fonts. Part of the idea is also that you can export fonts in your own home library without affecting the other users of the system.
Third parties also have police managers this attempt to 'do the right thing' based on what documents and applications you use. These are for most major design offices that use custom fonts or is needed to deal with versions of specific fonts, variations and even if the fonts are licenses for specific customers etc.. Fonts dynamically loading & unloading can cause headaches depending on what software you use.
I do not think that average users need to think about fonts on OS X (beyond adding their favorites occasionally), you may be overthinking it unless you're in lots of design work.
If you are concerned about running out of RAM, you probably need to install more, get a better Mac or run applications less. Just keep in mind what OS X tent now to use all the RAM available most of the time if not what is the point of installing it?
