S70 satellite - DVD drive stopped recognizing discs

Hello

hoping someone can help me. My S70 suddenly stopped recognizing discs in the DVD player. The drive will appear in my computer, device manager says it's working properly, but neither software nor my computer to recognize the drive.

Have tried to uninstall the DVD drive and reboot twice, without result.

Hello

Have you tested with different original discs as DVD movie and CD of music?
Try to clean the lens.

If you have a boot disc please test too.

My laptop does not recognize the CD/DVD drive and when I press the Open button to put in a disk, it opens, but the light and it makes a noise as if it worked. Whenever I go to control panel, system, and then to Device Manager, the computer says that the drive works.

You can eject the CD/DVD drive using a small object like a stapler.
There is a small hole near the eject button.
Putting the stapler in that little hole and you will be able to eject the disc.

    Help!

    Hey,.

I n t have the laptop in front of me but check the BIOS if you can find an option called USB legacy support. If Yes, you need to activate this feature that your laptop can recognize the external hard drive.

You can boot from a USB? I mean that you can also create files recovery on a USB key, so it would also be an option to restore factory settings.

The Microsoft page provides information about error code 22

    * This device is disabled. (Code 22) *.
    _Recommended resolution_
+ Activate the device using Device Manager. +
+ In Device Manager, click Action, and then select device. Starts the Enable Device Wizard. Follow the instructions. +

  • Pavilion Slimline s5-1020: DVD drive not recognized in Device Manager

My rarely used DVD player no longer works. Here are the things I have seen/made:
-J' updated to Windows 10. It may or may not have stopped working before the update.
-I update Windows automatically, and everything seems to be in order there.
-The DVD seems to be operational, insofar as you can hear it turn when a disc is inserted.
-Setup recognizes, and it is enabled; It is not at all in Device Manager or in the file Explorer.
Based on the things I've tried, there are indications that it may be either a hardware or a software problem (or both?):

    SOFTWARE PROBLEM?
I followed these as much as possible:
    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c03370738#c03370738_NoDriveWin8
    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c03370738#c01895589_resetpower
    http://h30434.www3.HP.com/T5/desktop-CD-DVD-read-only/read-this-for-CD-DVD-drive-with-burning-Missin...

    -I got disconnected/reconnected the drive.
-J' tried various DVD I knew to do.
-I don't have to update the BIOS, given warnings.
    - Nor did I mess with registry filters.
-J' tried to find a Microsoft Fixit solution, but the one referenced somewhere in these pages don't apply to this OS - I think it was for Win 7.  I tried MS Control Panel convenience stores, but none of them worked.
So I can't say whether or not it is a software problem.

    HARDWARE PROBLEM?
-J' have set the boot on the CD order in configuration and the desktop with Windows 7 HP Pavilion system repair disc - nothing happened, he went straight to the HD (even if I had turned off).  So that leads me to believe it may be a hardware problem after all.

Do I have other options at this point, except maybe buy another drive?  And in fact if I do, it is possible that one does not work either?

While you are not alone in this problem, here's a thread that deals with her.

    http://h30434.www3.HP.com/T5/desktop-operating-systems-and-recovery/CD-DVD-drive-not-detected-after-upgrade-to-Windows-10/TD-p/5172346

  • CD/DVD drive not recognized by Windows Vista

I installed a suite of burningb of CD and DVD on my Toshiba (under Vista Home Premium). My CD/DVD drive appeared more in the computer and was no longer functional. I deleted the program I installed and apparently caused the problem, but it did not help. I have read through the help of Microsoft (929461, 314060) documents and used the Fix - It utility. Also unsuccessful. I discovered the response of Martin, the technical support engineer made on May 5, 2009. I followed his instructions with great success. However, my question now is this: I have still some remains of the problem left over. I get an error message at startup saying, 'InstaBurn UDF driver is not installed correctly. Run the InstaBurn installation program. ' InstaBurn is part of the suite of the copy (hotpics by Nova Development Corp.).  I also have an error message of my reader DVD Toshiba saying that the DVD player does not work - although it is. Use DevManView to locate the CD/DVD in the registry (be careful and do a prior Restore Point)
nothing change) - find the DevManView device and then make a right click on it free in RegEdit.

DevManView - free - an alternative to the standard Windows Device Manager, which displays all the
devices and their properties in flat table, instead of the tree viewer

  • DVD drive not recognized on laptop with Vista

on inserting a dvd into the laptop, it does not start automatically, click on my computer, no sign of drive D.

    Hello

Step 1: Please do all the same underneath if you did some before as is often total
a process that solves the problem.

Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double click on the device - driver tab.
Click on update drivers (this will probably do nothing) - RIGHT click ON the drive - uninstall.
RESTART this will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue
    below.

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a coward
cable or slight corrosion on the contacts (usually for a laptop) and other issues.

Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, then make sure that the cables in both
ends. Remove and replace, do not just tight. For laptops, you can often clean power and
contacts data with a pencil eraser.

Some DVD players do not use the Windows default drivers so check with the manufacturer of system and
manufacturer of device to see if there is a firmware or drivers for your drive if necessary.

    ===============================

Step 2: You have disc problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD
Burn and CD and DVD read). So it is not unusual for 1 or 2 operational so that other parts
    do it right.

Did you follow the Troubleshooting Guide for the reader who still does not work? There are
the entries in registry that the troubleshooter does not solve and those who "might" be the cause.

Check with your Maker system and a device for the two possible firmware updates and
the correct registry entries for your car.

Here are the keys that I of course are those in question - for the subkeys of the CD/DVD drive
as there will be other subkeys in these keys. Do not forget to ask specific keys involved as well as
    the parameters.

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\IDE

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Hardware Profiles\0001\System\CurrentControlSet\Enum\IDE
