• MacBook Pro (3-inches, mid-2012) suddenly started running very slowly; Beach balls very common

  About a week and a half, it started running very slowly with the spinning beach balls popping up all the time.  This reminds me of how when I have too many tabs of the browser as in the past, but now, even with browsers had closed, open Word or Skype is really slow.  (I'm sorry for any confusing formulation; I'm not very computer customer connected, unfortunately!)

  You Mbps HARD drive is suspect.  Start the recovery (COMMAND-R) partition and select in menu 4 disk utility.  Run disk utility > first aid > repair.

  Unrelated, but your battery has seen a lot of use.  I suggest to replace.

If this isn't the case, then a great solution is to download and install a shareware like Macaroni, JAW PseudoAnacronor Anacron utility that will automate the maintenance regardless of whether activity if the computer is off or asleep.  Dependence on third-party utilities to run periodic maintenance scripts has been significantly reduced since Tiger.  These utilities have little or no functionality with Snow Leopard or later version, and must not be installed.

  OS X automatically defrags files smaller than 20 MB in size, so unless you have a disk full of very large files it little need to defragment the hard drive.

  Under no circumstances should you install operating MacPaw or ZeoBit software (CleanMyMac/CleanMyDrive or Mac Keeper, respectively.) You don't need special software to keep your computer.

  Troubleshooting Applications

  I recommend that you download a utility such as TinkerTool System, OnyX, Mavericks Cache Cleaneror hiding a Cocktail that you can use to delete the former newspapers and archives, cleaning, etc. Corrupted cache, logs or temporary files can slow down the application or OS X crashes and panics of the kernel.

  For some people, Time Machine will be more than enough. Time Machine is part of Mac OS X. There are two components:

  1. a panel of Time Machine preferences as part of the system of preferences;

  2. a request for Time Machine, located in the Applications folder. It's

  used to manage backups and restore backups. Time Machine

  requires a backup drive that is at least twice the capacity of the

  drive being backed up.

  You can also get an external drive at least equal to the size hard disk internal and make (and maintain) a bootable clone/backup. You can make a bootable clone using the disk utility's restore option. You can also create and maintain clones with good backup software. My personal recommendations are (the order is not significant):

  4 superDuper!

  5. Synk Pro

  6. Tri-Backup

  Additional tips

  Make sure you have a sufficient amount of RAM installed for the number of applications you run simultaneously. Make sure to leave a minimum of 10% of the capacity of the hard disk as free space.

  Add more RAM. If your computer less than 2 GB of RAM and you use OS X Leopard or later, then you can do it with more RAM. Snow Leopard and Lion works much better with 4 GB of RAM that is their system. Most concurrent applications, that you tend to use the more RAM you should have.

  Always have at least 15 GB, or 10% of the capacity of your hard disk as free space, the largest. OS X frequently accesses your hard disk, so offering enough free space will keep things slow down.

  This problem occurs often because of a corrupted cache or the preferences file or an attempt to write in a corrupted log file.

  To be honest I n don't know what you want at the moment.
  You want to upgrade your laptop or you want to make Windows faster?

  I put t know what programs you have installed, but after you remove all the programs you need t n you should clean your system using CCleaner.
  Also disable any startup programs you start n t need in msconfig and start menu folder. Don t forget to defragment your HARD drive.
  In the worst cases, you need to reinstall Windows. Not all Windows problems can be solved without complete new installation.

  Last but not least the Equium L10 can be upgraded to 1 GB of RAM. This can also help you to make Windows faster.

  How much RAM you have on your system? (Right click on "My Computer"-> properties)

  As a general rule, Windows XP does not work well if you have less than 1 GB or more of RAM.  What usually happens is that your RAM capacity is exceeded leading to overflow on virtual memory (the drive) to compensate for the need of RAM in the computer.  This causes your system to beat on your hard drive and slow down your system.

  If this is your problem, the options are to increase the RAM on your system or decrease the non-essential programs that launch at startup on your computer using a tool like Autoruns.

• HP 15 laptop: running very slowly

  Laptop is running very slowly since the day I bought it. Crash games, flash player crashes several times per day.

  I called HP support before and they took over my computer by remote access. They scanned with Malwarebytes and CCcleaner. It does not yet compare with the speed of my old Toshiba with Windows 7, as I earn 8.1 installed on my HP. It takes six or seven seconds to get to a new site when you surf, my videos are constantly trolling and slow reading.  I do not have a lot of game and especially surfing.

  Uninstall all toolbars for Internet Explorer. These include Bing, Google, Yahoo, Foxit etc, anything that presents itself as a toolbar to the browser...

  Also uninstall anything as to MyWebSearch or any other unwanted search engine...

  Minimum memory required for Windows 7 32-bit is 1 GB and the minimum for Windows 7 64-bit is 2 GB.

  Note that they are minimums for Windows, NOT Windows as well as a bunch of other things. If you have bits and bobs like Weatherbug, Speedfan, Networx or anything that takes place in the region of notiification, you need of MORE memory.

  You need to more memory, especially when running invasive sulutions anti-virus like AVG, Norton and McAfee, Kapersky. In fact, you better a any of them works not as there are more effective and less morose autour AV solutions...

  ESET NOD32 is good if you don't mind paying, and Microsoft Security Essentials is good if you prefer free...

  Get the above done and then report back telling us how it happened... :-)
