Safari throws "Safari cannot open page because the server is not responding" error for most relationships other than Facebook, Google, Youtube and a few other sites on my Macbook Pro. Can anyone help?

  Probably a permission problem.  Run the Apple disk utility to repair permissions.  If this does not work the glance to the non bootable drive and check "Ignore permissions..."  Open the window Info Finder and it came inside.

  If the restore CD you have to sp1, you need not sp1a or sp2.  You can go directly to sp3.  SP1a is the same as sp1, but the removal of the "Microsoft Java Virtual Machine (JVM from MS).  Microsoft released XP sp1a as part of a settlement with Sun Microsystems patent infringement (then owner of Java).
