Samples for read and rate (Hz)

In the window of the DAQ Assistant, there are two options for playback of samples:

1. "samples to read."

2 "rate (Hz)" "

Could someone please define the meaning of these? context-sensitive help is not clearify the meaning of these for me.

Examples might help too:

for example, now I have the settings to:

Reading samples: 1

Rate (Hz): 200

What is read what that means in terms of samples per second?

I'm recording given to 200 Hz?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

See you soon,.

Hey thanks crossrulz, I use continues for my type of sample.  OK so I take 200 samples per second, because I have my rate fixed at 200, but what are ' samples to read?

I put 'samples to read' 1, does that mean?

This means you'll read 1 sample whenever the DAQ Assistant is called.  A sample is added to the buffer of each 5ms, so there are probably more data in the buffer.  That's why you might want to read more.  For example, if your loop takes one second to read, you should read at least 200 samples to keep the buffer cleared.

  • Software for reading and writing of trigger

    Hello

My goal: generate a sine wave for output to a channel BNC-2110 (connected to a speaker), listen to the sound from the speaker generates via 4 microphones (separated by a known distance) and save lag (or the phase difference) between each microphone. The moment in this regard must be very precise, and I'm having a little trouble by issuing a command to trigger.

What I would do, it's the departure of DAQmxRead data and some time after use (controllable) DAQmxWrite start display the signal. This way I can see where the signal begins to write. I also want to make sure that the DAQmxRead continue to record a little after (also controllable delay) finishes DAQmxWrite, to make sure that I collect all of the signal.

Secondly, I would like to assure you that I am not wasting resources on my computer by continually check whether the signal DAQmx has finished sending, and so I'm quite happy to record using the method of the finite samples. If I know how long the pulse is + my two departure delays and find yourself, I can calculate the total recording time and finished so samples is good enough. Which should reduce to nothing the need for a while loop?

The process goes something like this:

--> Continuous playback playback--> continue reading--> reading of finishing--> output
Delay time known--> Start--> finishing Writing written

My main problem is that I don't know how to create a "dependent software time based event trigger", and I don't know how to make sure that each DAQmxWrite/reading is ready to start to go before I have send the trigger for them. Any suggestions?

AHA! The synchronization problem has been in the task. I had activated the recording and the default directory was not on my hard drive - I wrote continuously on the network! Works fine now.

  • How to lock the frequency of sampling for 5673 and 5663

    Hello

In general I try set the transmitter and the receiver.  It seems easy to lock the carrier frequency, but no matter what I do, I seem to have a drift in my sampling frequency (order of 1 ppm).

Is the sampling clock in the digitizer 5663 linked to the same reference like OL clock?  ... I didn't know that I needed the mechanism TClk here since I don't care for delay...

Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.  Here are some details.

I use the 5673 as transitter and 5663 as receiver.  I noticed as follows:
    1. when each use a "reference clock Source' = OnboardClock I have a carrier notable offset to the receiver (for example carrier 5.8 GHz has ~ 7 KHz offset) and that's fine.
    2. when each use a "clock reference Source" = clock, with the physically attached chassis PXI, I see no delay perceptible carrier to the receiver.
    3. what 5673 uses 'Reference clock Source' = OnboardClock, using 'Reference clock Source' 5663 = ClkIn (ClkIn/Out physically attached), I see no delay perceptible carrier to the receiver.

  • Units of the number of samples and rates for the DAQ Assistant units

    Hello

I use the DAQ assistant for analog voltage of an input OR data acquisition card. What is the difference between the rate and the number of samples in the DAQ assistant and what are the units of the two?

    Thank you.

The number of samples is how many discrete to measures. Rate (per second) is how fast to acquire the specified number of samples.

If number of samples is 100 and the rate is 1000 samples per second, then the acquisition would take 0.1 second (100 / 1000).

I am trying to create an audio file, but when I click on the record button I get this error:

Use the appropriate operating system or control panel of audio device to adjust the sampling frequency of the output devices and audio entries to use the same settings. »

So I do not know which need to be addressed. I use the video card as the source and not the speakers thus mean the output must be la carte too?

    Please help, I'm confused.

    Thanks for your time!

Got an answer to a previous question asking how to record and thought, this could be useful for others.

    rothmannnyc,

February 18, 2013 16:33 in response to talbot

It takes a Windows setting and a setting of the hearing.

You will need to go into your settings from Windows recording devices - if you see a speaker in the lower right of your screen, right-click on it and choose recording devices.  Find your audio input source, select Properties, go to advanced.  You should see a drop down menu with options for the quality and frequency of sampling, mono/stereo.  In general, you'll want to 44.1 kHz for audio; 48 Hz for the video.

At the hearing, go to Edition/Preferences/Audio Hardware and select the same frequency of sampling for output.  I went through the same question a few months ago, and it worked for me.  Good luck!

  • sample per channel and read sample

    Hello everyone

I'm new in LABVIEW and I have some difficulties with something.

I put t know exactly what is the difference between the sample by channel and the sample to read. According to me, knowing that the sample by channel is the size of the buffer that is larger than the sampling frequency, but I put t know what is the sample to read.

I ve tested with different sample per channel and read. Sometimes I get an error and sometimes know and I would like to know why. If you have examples because I understand better, it will be great.

I really need to understand this part of my project

    Thanks for your help

    Tony GIBERT

    Hi Roro,

As you mentioned, when the size of the buffer absorbing continuous samples, you can specify the sample by placing a value to the entry "samples per channel" on schedule vi. The entry of 'number of samples per channel' on reading vi which automatically names a control / constant with 'samples to read' specifies the number of samples you want to remove from the buffer in an appointment during playback of several samples (N). This link may provide a little more detail. I am also attaching a good example of the finder OR example that you may find useful to explore. I assume you are using the DAQmx driver put then please let me know if this isn't the case, but the same principles should apply in any event.

This means accordingly for sampling at a given rate, you must make sure you're pulling data in large enough 'chunks' so that the buffer overflows (which may well be the cause of error that you see). On the other hand if your sampling rate is slow and your reading vi is having to wait the number of samples to read you have specified to be available, he can lift a time-out error. You can avoid this by increase your sampling rate, reduce your samples to play or increase the time-out specified read vi entry (-1 means it will wait indefinitely).

Let me know if this helps and how you will.

    All the best.

  • Reading and samples the sampling frequency using a fast external clock

    Hello

I use an NI USB-6212 box to launch a search engine for combustion. I have a pressure sensor in the head and a wheel on the crankshaft. I use the beats A Quad channel of the rotary encoder as a sample external to the pressure with the sample clock. The idea is that I want almost the same number of points in each trace of pressure so that it is easy to average together. I seem to be able to do this at low speed, but I'm having issues at high speed.

Can someone tell me what I should have my sampling rate and samples to read together and how it effects my sampling when using an external clock? Samples per channel will affect the size of buffer and that matters? When I was high (10-100 kHz and about 1/10 * rate for samples to read) it barely read but as I put the lowest and lowest he read faster. Play with the settings a bit seem to affect how well it samples at different speeds. The engine is running at 3600 rpm and my encoder puts out 2500 pulses per turn on one channel, I'm looking at a frequency of 150 kHz effective sampling. However I didn't sample program with the engine operating at full throttle. I hung on the output of the encoder up to a scope and reads very well.

Are there opportunities the filter counter that I see in the manual of 621 x is enabled inadvertently?

    Thank you

    Xander

    Xander18,

I suggest you move your screws initialization outside the while loop, as well as your narrow DAQmx VI.  On my side, it looks like a new task is performed for each loop, which takes time.  That a try and let me know how it goes.

  • Relationship between the samples through the second rate and sampling

I was wondering if someone could clarify the relationship between the samples through second rate and sampling.

I have USB6008 and USB6363 of the tips that I work with in Measurement Studio.

For the nec USB6008 entry differential (up to four channels of HAVE), if I put a sampling frequency to 8192 samples per second, and I updated 2048 samples per channel with:

    Task.Timing.ConfigureSampleClock ("", 8192, SampleClockActiveEdge.Rising, SampleQuantityMode.ContinuousSamples, 2048)

Am I right in assuming that:

    • through the 4 analog inputs 8192 samples will be collected every second
    • 2048 samples will be taken by way of analog input for each scan
    • The time between two successive data points is 1/2048 seconds (about 0.5 ms)

    Hi DKIMZEY,

The help page for the "Timing.ConfigureSampleClock method" should have a hypertext link to the page "Sample clock" in NOR-DAQmx help, that contains this text: "this sample clock sets the interval of time between samples. Each tick of the clock starts the acquisition or the generation of one sample per channel. "When the sample clock frequency is 8192, then the time between two successive data for a single channel is 1/8192 seconds. The time between the data points on two adjacent channels is controlled by the clock to convert, which can be controlled independently on most devices (up to a point).

  • Audio samples of input and output rates do not match.

If I get an error that supposedly get a lot of people, I think I know the problem of fixing, but I think that it is impossible with the microphone that I use but I want to make sure it's just the microphone that I use and nothing else. So I went in "reading devices" and "recording devices" check if they were both on the same sampling frequency, but I could change the sampling frequency of spekers in properties, but not the MIC... the microphone that I use is the PS2 eye cam, it works very well I had to download "CL eye test" to get it running, but it works , by default the format its deadlock is: 4 channels, 16000 Hz (tape recorder).

The box is grayed out and I have no idea how to do to change the frequency of sampling for it... so now I can't use the program pretty at all to save

I am sure that you will not be able to change because it is defined by the hardware built into the microphone. If you want to use with the hearing, you should make sure that windows sounds and hearing are configured for 16 k. Otherwise if there is any software that came with that allows you to record must be able to transfer the audio to hearing to change.

However, Eye Cam is really a toy. If you are seriously in the audio recording, you'd be better off getting a good microphone and audio interface.
