Sansa 280 not recognized as a Portable device

General information: Sansa 280th with firmware version 01.024.24A; Operating system Windows Vista, service pack 2; MSC mode; Windows Media Player version 11.0.6002.18111.

My computer only recognizes the Sansa player when it is connected in MSC mode.  When it is connected to the MTP device does not appear in the computer widow.  However, when connected in MSC , an icon labeled mass storage mode removable disk (F soon will appear next to DVD RW drive (E labeled and a few seconds later a removable disk (G labeled icon appears next to the removable disk (F labeled icon.))))  An AutoPlay window appears followed by a popup indicating that "it is not children in the drive...". ».  I tested other portable devices and all appear as a portable device.  It seems to me that my Sansa player has lost its identity.

When I drag a playlist to sync pane in Windows Media Player (WMP) and click on the button synchronize the files copy to the device.  Everything looks normal on the player.  The music seems like songs, but nothing appears in the list of reading as the list go.  I formatted the device, both on the computer window and using the method of hold/record , after which I reinstalled the firmware.

I would appreciate help anyone can provide in resolving this issue.

This morning I took a glance at the problem again. I went into the Device Manager and uninstalled the driver in MTP mode. I then reinstalled it manually with the driver selected in a list. Driver selection was easy because there was only one on the list. It is installed successfully! When you try to update the driver automatically, Vista kept saying that the driver was updated. What I think happened is that the driver has become corrupted and the only way to replace it was to force Vista to reinstall, which then solved the problem. Just my guess. Sorry, but I know just enough about dangerous software systems. But I learned a lot during this experience.

In any case, under the MPT mode the computer recognizes the Sansa player as a portable device! However, in WMP it has no music file recognized. I think that WMP table should update since I Sync playlists and he did return to his table where that data is stored. It comes to decide whether or not to reformat the device in MSC mode and start again, then switch to the PSG and synchronize albums, playlist, etc., in WMP. And then there are worries that something can go wrong, since OMP recognizes two Sansa e280 players. We're working and the other is a mannequin. Additionally, this strange thing of two in MSC mode mass storage devices is always displayed in the window of the computer (aka My in Win XP) (see the original post). So not all of my fears are unfounded, while other strange things continue. For now, I'll leave the single unit and reformat and start over when I feel compelled to do.

I appreciate the assistance. He made me started lookng in the right direction. Thanks again!

  • Sansa Clip not recognized by computer - new problem

All of a sudden my Sansa Clip is not recognized by my computer. I use MSC forced for a year and have seen the page referred by others with this problem. Nothing seems to work. Download the new firmware will it correct even if the device is not recognized? How the new firmware can be installed on the device?

At present the Clip plays already charged music, but I can add more.

    Suggestions? Thank you.

    JEMcQ wrote:
OK - I'm a model. I used a charging cable not provided by Sansa. This is why the computer was not recognizing the Clip. However, is there a way to NOT use forced MSC to connect? I use it since I updated the firmware to the last spring and my thumb is painful.

Your firmware has USB mode in the settings? If so, switch to MSC there... problem solved!

  • Sansa e280 not recognized by the pc

Hi all! I'm new here and I recently had a problem with my sansa 280. I know that for my sansa display in the pc I need to put it on the usb mtp mode. But when I put it on the pc, it does not recognize my computer and he says: "usb malfunctioned or not recognized by the pc. When my sandisk is out of the computer works perfectly. How can I get my computer to recognize the sandisk card? I want to put more music on this subject, and I can't! I use windows vista. Please help me, I would appreciate your help a lot!

I had your exact the same problem. You can read in the thread I started. I pasted the answer that worked for me here.

    c1u31355

Download Windows Media Player 10 or 11 from www.microsoft.com and reinstall it. This usually fixes things. Next step, but only if this does not work, is to get the "MTP Porting Kit" from Microsoft and install it.

Let us know if those who help or not.

  • Why am I suddenly "USB not recognized, one of the devices USB has malfunctioned and Windows does not recognize"

Hi all. If anyone out there in Cyber Land can solve this problem for me so I've personally you will issue an eight-pack of ice-cold beer (or a bottle of wine for the ladies lol)...

I'll try not to waffle too guys, so here's...

Right my PC running Windows XP. I also have itunes installed on my PC (I have an iphone 4). Upward until yesterday my iphone and itunes were working well, (once I plugged my iphone in the itunes USB port recognised that my iphone was plugged and synchronization was fine etc.).

But now when I plug my iphone to PC to sync with itunes, I get a pop up box on the lower right part of the screen that reads... "USB not recognized one of the USB devices has malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize."

After visiting about 5 different sites now "Ways to solve this problem", believe it or not, I still have the problem bloody! :(

A site proposed shutdown PC and unplug it from the power supply, then plug it back start-up and back... this as did not work!
The other they say that I should go to Device Manager, uninstall all the USBs then restart... it did not work either.
    Tried a system restore
    Tried to reinstall itunes

When I check the names USB in Device Manager, there is one who reads unknown device. I am literally pulling what's left of my hair now. I tried to solve this problem for almost 2 days now and still no joy. That's why no matter what input you guys would be very appreciated. I'm no PC Wizard, so please, don't think you're patronizing me if you break down things step by step for me.

Thank you comrades, cordially, Freddy frustrated. :)

Another said I should go to Device Manager, uninstall all the USBs and restart.

Usually, this works... but can be very dangerous, unless you have a PS/2 keyboard.

I also assume that you have tried all other USB ports on the computer. tried a verified USB device (for example, a flash drive) in the USB usually when you plug in your iPhone. and I tried your iPhone in another computer (I know it's rare for an error message Windows really means what he says, but sometimes the material lacks).

Is the charge of the iPhone when it is connected to the USB port (I don't think)?  This happened to me recently, but a reboot fixed it.  I guess that that happened to you.

I guess that you don't see the error messages in Device Manager or you must declare them.

You can uninstall all USB devices that do not exist as follows:

    • Open a command prompt window (start > run > cmd > OK)
    • Enter the following command and press enter

    Set devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices = 1

    • Start the Device Manager by typing the following in the same command prompt window

    devmgmt.msc

    • In Device Manager, click the view menu and select "Show hidden devices".
    • You should see a category just after "Non-Plug and Play drivers" named "other devices."  Chances are that there will be a big exclamation yellow mark beside it.  When you expand the "other devices" you should see several non identified "USB devices."  Uninstall all this.
    • Reboot (with the iPhone NOT connected).

  • Sansa Clip + not recognized by the Audi music interface

    Hello

I'm trying to connect my Sansa Clip to my music interface of cars (Audi A4, model 2010). My Sansa Clip says that he has plugged in and the battery starts to load, but my music interface of cars does not recognize the mp3 device. Anyone have any idea what can be the problem?

The Audi music interface manual says that there is a limitation in mp3 with "USB Device subclass 1, 2 and 6'.» What may be the problem, that "subclass" Sansa Clip + have they?

    / Olle

    Olle wrote:

Thanks for your reply and your quick response!  Your answer solved my initial problem. Now the music interface of the car recognize my Sansa Clip, but now the problem is that it cannot find the files that can be read. I noticed the same 'phenomena' trying to find music via my computer files, when having put MSC is not possible to see all the files. I have .wma and .mp3 files both on the Sansa Clip.

Is there a way to solve this problem as well?

Your computer cannot see or access the files that have been transferred to MTP mode when you are connected to the MSC and vice versa. It may be a similar situation with the stereo system in your care. You may need to remove all the files (build formattiing be the fastest way to do) and re - transfer to your player in MSC mode.

  • Moment of idiocy: I deleted some files on Sansa and now my Sansa is not recognized by WIMP

My sansa screen got cracked and in a fit of anger (I know it's immature of me, but my blood sugar was low) I deleted which, in my view, are the root files (in Windows, it's an icon that is dogearred and has file .dat or .cable for example) which allows my Sansa is recognized by the WIMP.  In addition, because of my idiocy that my SansaUpdater does not recognize that my sansa e 250 v2 is no longer recognized as being installed, what should I do?  I'm a stream?  I have the latest firmware, so this isn't the issue.  How to get back my files root?  Now I can't put any music on the player as the chicken does not recognize the drive

I found a way to get my e250 recognized by chicken.  WIMP recognized a flash drive, I got in my computer and I downloaded music to it, and then I dragged music dropped from the flash drive to the sansa.  I did this about two times and then WiMP recognized my sansa.  Wonders never cease.

  • iPhone 4 is not recognized in itunes or devices. (essentially to have windows 7) Drivers must be installed/updated

Hello! This seems to be a fairly common problem, but after extensive research on the web and endless trials and errors I can still fix my problem! It makes me crazy! No pun intended. I have re-installed... restarted... reset... and I'm tired.

I have windows 8 (not sure of how it is common) thanks to my brother (he says it works similarly to windows 7 everything must be compatible with it) and it does not recognize my iphone 4. Not in my computer or itunes. In devices iphone is only listed as an unknown device next to the symbol of mobile apple. the unknown device has a yellow triangle and I have troubleshooted to find out that the USB MTP device has a driver problem. I tried to solve this problem in any way suggested online, but looks like I need to install the new driver from the manufacturer software? Would it be Apple for my iphone 4 or would it Sony or Microsoft. I don't know a lot about computers that I am just myself online teacher on the details.

By the way, I went through the system control panel and tried to update the drivers, but none of them worked.

There is also a yellow triangle on my computer laptop symbol at the top and I troubleshooted it to find that the Base system device driver is also not installed for this. I've been on the Sony Vaio Support Site and no upgrades driver seems to relate to what I need to install/upgrade to date. I'm so confused and frustrated now! Help, please! And let me know if I need to explain something better.

  • DVD - rom is not recognized by windows xp Device Manager

I have a laptop Satellite M115 with XP and I noticed that yesterday that my cd-rom does not work.  It does not appear in Device Manager at all.   There is a place in systems that say CD-ROMs, but when I click there nothing.  I tried the "fix it" does not.  I looked to try to find the upper and lower registry keys and are not there either.  I even tried to reinstall the cd-rom, but there is no entry for it.  I tried to start with cd player and he did, but the meter turns, it just starts.  Fisically, the drive seems to work, when I put a cd in the drive, he lights up as if it is going to work but does not work.  I can not find anywhere, it is as if it disappeared completely.  I'm not able to be executed.  I rarely use the drive so I know that it is not worn.  I tried to access other programs that would use the player, such as windows and dvd media movies and they say that the drive is disconnected or not.  I have not upgraded to Vista, so it isn't that.  I still have XP.  Do you think that a security update could have wiped out the ability to find the cd-rom?  If so, what is it?  I do not have a virus I know.  My antivirus can't find anything and cannot care Windows online.  No infection.  I would eliminate the pc with a clean install, but it will not read my disc! I am at my whits end!  Any help at all would be deeply appreciated.

  • Sansa e260 not recognized by Windows Media Player in MSC mode

    Hello

I have a problem. When I connect my Sansa e260 in my PC, Windows Media Player 12 will not recognize it. I can still see it in the computer, including the Micro SD card. When it's in MTP mode I can see it in WMP, but I don't see that micro SD. thing is I want to download some new songs on the Micro SD card that I can't see. I don't know if I can download songs on the player itself, because I don't have any space left there and I dare not remove anything where I won't be able to download stuff on him. I'm running on Windows 7. This problem occurred during the night. I change not all components, nor that I have installed all new programs. I also tried different USB ports, firmware reinstallation, trying even Rockbox.

That's about all. Any idea is appreciated.

    Thank you.

Set mode MSC, where the map stands as a separate disk. (MTP mode is for control via WMPlayer or Media Monkey).

Albums of drag - move around the map.

    Hello

It seems that you are getting the popup "USB device not recognized", when nothing is connected.

What is the brand and model of your computer?

I suggest to uninstall the USB controllers and check if you get the context menu.

Method 1: Remove and reinstall all USB controllers

    a. clickStart, type devmgmt.msc in the start search box and press ENTER.

    b. expandBus USB controllers.

    c. right-click on each device under theBus USB controllers node and then click Uninstall to remove them one at a time.

    d. restart the computer, and windows will install the rear USB drivers.

If reinstalling USB host controllers fails to resolve the issue, go to method 2.
