Satellite 1410-303-the s key is blocked

Hello, I have a * Toshiba Satellite 1410 303 * and the "s" key is annoying me a lot.

It does not work either, it keeps on himself. I must + ESC + to stop it. Should I clean under the keyboard? And how there?

Please answer 4!

Hello!

Try to turn off the laptop, press the s key and use the jet of compressed air to remove dirt or something else which is located under the key.

I hope that it works and if not, I think that you need a new keyboard because it is not possible to Exchange simple keys on the keyboard. :(

Good bye

  • Satellite 1410-303: black vertical banner on the far right of the screen

    Hi all

I had to format my Satellite 1410 303, and then I added also 256 MB of RAM so the total is now 512 MB. It works fine but the problem is that now I have a black vertical bar, which covers about one inch from the far right of the screen and when you move the mouse it the "offsets" to the right, but the black bar monitor remains in place. Very annoying.

Also, since I formatted the laptop, I do not have the controls in Toshiba or utility, so I can't change the width of the screen, or perform any other work related operations.

    Your help is very appreciated.

As a first step, it will be interesting to know something about the pre-installed OS and drivers. I assume that you used your own CD of facilities and the recovery media not original. Am I right about that?

What drivers you have installed, in particular display driver?

  • I want to install the new HDD for Satellite 1410 303

Can I install the MK8032GAX HARD disk (80 GB Toshiba 2.5 "IDE, 5400 RPM, 16 MB) on my Toshiba Satellite 1410 303? BIOS will detect it?

Unfortunately there no document on this subject because the HARD drive upgrade is dealer so-called option, and because of this, there is no specific info on the upgrade of the HARD drive. According to the specifications of the laptop, this laptop model comes with 20 GB of HARD drive.

I'm sure you can use 40 or 60 GB without any problems. About 80 GB I won't speculate, but maybe someone has already tested and will post here in the next few days.

    Good luck!

    Hello

Have you installed the same CPU than before, or have you installed a different CPU?

I checked the manual of the Satellite 1410 and he normally equipped with an Intel Celeron CPU processor and in my opinion, it is the reason why it doesn't work.
Upgrading the CPU is not being official and it seems that the motherboard and BIOS don't support this CPU.
    Check this Toshiba document: http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB9401AX0001R01.htm

  • I tried to activate Win 7 Ultimate product key, but I get a message that says that the product key is blocked,

I had to perform a clean install of Win7 Ultimate on Win7Pro, which recorded data may in a window.old directory.   When I installed Win 7 Ultimate, it would install with Win 7 Pro installed, so I've had to do a clean install which has formatted the hard drive.

I tried to activate Win 7 Ultimate with the product key, but I get a message that says that the product key is blocked and I cannot activate my installation of Win 7 Ultimate.  What are the options?
One of the solutions is to re - install the original program, Win 7 Pro and then re install Win 7 Ultimate.
It seems like a repeat of the whole process that I just finished.

  • More than maximum memory on the Satellite 1410-303 (512MB)

According to the manual the 1410-303 can only install 512 MB memory.

Wonder just that someone has already tried to install more than that? Currently installed 512 MB, the machine is still kind of slow Photoshop running. Ideally the memory 768 MB or 1 GB. any ideas/experience?

The machine works rather well, so any plan to get a new one anytime soon. Thank you!

    Hello

I try still didn t but friend of mine has had bad experience with it. He has used more than max but just defined by Toshiba memory max memory has been recognized. In my opinion, you can try to use more than 512 MB. I'm not so sure that any capacity to be recognized.

As far as I know your unit has only 16 MB of video RAM and I'm pretty sure that this low capacity of the graphics card is the reason for slow graphic illustration or graphic editing.

  • Satellite 1410-303 - CPU upgrade options / tests

    Hello

    Sometimes I have a really rather old satellite S1410-303, which sports a * Celeron processor 1.5 ghz (256 k /400FSB). *

As I have the latest Bios installed (v1.40 / 03 Sept), I'm curious to know if it would be possible to switch to a Celeron faster, released around this time. I am aware that the CPU should match some criteria, even 256 k of cache / FSB / Northwood arch etc and I was wondering if an update to a Celeron SL75T might work?

The SL75T is a Celeron 2.5 ghz processor, it's a reasonable bump in speed. Sockets correspond to @478 / mPPGA too.
The only thing maybe the draw the fate/energy are higher than the amounts

    Any thoughts?

I am aware this Forum * an Italian guy tried putting a pentium 4 base FSB CPU @400 2.0 ghz in the same laptop computer and it didn't work *. So it seems Celeron only, probably 128 / 256 k cache according to.

Anyone have a list of definitive of what the BIOS v1.40 supports?

    Thank you, john

Eh, it's very old piece of hardware, and it is not easy to pick up some info on this.
What I found is the info the 1410 has been delivered with different processors Mobile Intel Celeron:
    1.6 GHz (1.45volts)
    1.7 GHz (1.45volts)
    1.8 GHz (1.45volts)

Then maybe you can check if you can find a faster clocked at 1.8 GHz and update.

Sorry, but everything what s that I can write about it.

    Hello

I have install Windows by myself - this laptop don't have any operating system from the factory.
Installed Windows 7 x 64, all drivers and utilities site driver Toshiba for windows 7 x 64 available for my laptop model.

I have no any unknown device in the Windows Device Manager, all the installed drivers and all hardware components woks fine i.e. camera wifi or bluetooth or web.
But I still can't use some combinations of keyboard with the key Fn. not all, only five combinations do not work: modes of energy Fn + F2 Fn + F4 hibernation, Fn + 1, 2 zoom and devices wirelles Fn + F8.
Search, I found only mentions on Fn + 1, zoom 2 - this funtion providing some util named Toshiba Zoom but no any Toshiba download page don't Zoom for my model of laptop and W7.

Looks like it must have installed some additional tools provider for the manipulation of this combination, but I can't find any soft or extra info on the driver download page.
Maybe there are a few utils which must be placed in lists of drivers/software for 32-bit windows and it will be very good for 64 bits one?

All the combinations that works great as volume + Fn + Fn + 4 3 or mute Fn + ESC does not show any popus time of pressing, just functions without any indication.

Dear users and support, can you help me what should I install utils extra to support the Fn + F2 modes of energy combinations, Fn + F4 Fn + 1, 2 zoom hibernate and Fn + F8 wirelles devices?

Akuma is right. For the feature keys FN, you install Toshiba Value added Package. This package contains several different applications.

I indetified HARD disk location, but I don't understand how to disconnect the HARD disk.

Thank you and sorry for my English

    Hello

As far as I know, the machine was delivered with 20 GB of HARD drive.
After a long search I found a 100 GB HARD disk for this device.
I think that there is a maximum size.
    Check this box:
    http://www.Kahlon.com/rm30859_Toshiba_Satellite_1410-303.html

Also it is not very difficult to replace the HARD drive. On the site from the bottom of the laptop, you can find the cover of the HARD drive. You must remove it. As far as I know it s a single screw. Then you can remove safe HDD form Bay.

    Best regards

    Hello
First of all sorry if my English is not perfect. I'm from the Italy. Bear with me.

I have a satellite phone Satellite C855 PSCBYE.
I formatted my laptop but there is no software Toshiba on this subject.
So I downloaded HW installation and the Toshiba system settings.

Then I open 'System Settings---> keyboard' and choose 'special function mode.
After the reboot, I always have to press "FN" keys f1 to f12.

I don't like to press FN everytime I have to click on f1, f2, f3 etc.. Is there another way to solve this problem?
Is there anything else I should download from toshiba?
    Help, please.

Yes, you can change these settings in the BIOS.

Press the F2 key while turn on/off the device to access the BIOS and you will find the special function keys mode option

    Hello!

I m not sure but I think that's why you need to remove the keyboard and the other parties too. In my opinion, this is a little tricky on this laptop, and you need to remove a large number of screws.

Maybe you find a statement of disassembly with Google or ask a technician for help laptop. I think this would be the best way.
