Hello

Satellite 1800 is old enough for laptop... I searched a bit using Google and it seems to PC100 SDRAM SODIMM for her, but you can also choose PC133 modules, they will also work with low speed PC100.

I m not sure how it supports RAM, but I think 512 MB maximum for this oldie

  • Satellite A100-233 - what memory I need?

    Hello

I have the Satellite A100-233 and I want to increase its memory. The question is, if my card MOM, can I put DDR2 memory with 667 MHZ speed or I use only 533 MHZ?

    Thank you

    Hello

It according to your chipset you ;)

If you want to just buy a second memory module, I'd be the same module as the first. So that you know its module is compatible with the laptop and normally two identical modules must be used in the book to avoid problems of incompatibility.

But as far as I know A100-233 can handle up to 667 MHz modules. If the first module runs with 533 MHz, the second module will work also on 533 MHz. This means that the modules are compatible downgrade.

    Hello

The modules are obsolete? I put t believe that!
Satellite 1800-921 simply uses modules SODIMM 144 pin PC100 and you should check out some offers from online dealers.
I m you will find something interesting!

Oh the laptop supports max 512 MB and that's why you can use modules of 2 x 256 MB max.

  • Satellite 1800-921 material updates

    Hello

My daughter received a Satellite 1800-921, but it needs to be updated.

I need to allow him to become compatible wireless and also update the RAM.

In addition, they are easy to do?

    Thank you

The update of the RAM is possible. You can update for max max 1024 MB and these modules can be used:
    PC100 256 MB (PA3069U - 1 M 25)
    PC100 128 MB (PA3005U)
    PC100 64 MB (PA3004U)

The situation with the WiFi network is a little different. The laptop does not support any card of minPCI of WLan and the internal upgrade isn't possible.
But you can use a USB WiFi key or a PCMCIA Wlan card.

  • Satellite 1800-921: antenna integrated behind the screen?

Can someone tell me if the Satellite 1800-921 has an antenna behind the screen?
    Thank you
    Peter

I guess you mean a kind of antenna? As far as I know behind the screen is placed antenna WLAN for supported models with WLAN connectivity.

I wasn't able to find info on Satellite 1800-921, but if the unit is supplied without WIFI I guess that there is no WLAN antenna behind the screen. By the way: I believe that the Satellite 1800 series is delivered without a WLAN option.

    Hello

Seems that the laptop can not find the bootable source.
This means that the HARD drive is malfunctioning or the boot sector is defective.

By the way; have you tried to change the boot order in the BIOS?

  • On the Satellite 1800-921 black screen problem

    Hello
My satellite 1800-921 has started to give me a black screen after I turn it on. It loads well, go to the desktop and then the screen turns white and I can't make it respond. We can just distinguish the dialogs on the screen so I don't know if it is a screen problem or things I see on the screen are just ghosts...
    It's a bit worrying!
Does anyone else have this problem? So far, it seems to happen when I turn it on. Usually, I have to turn it off and reboot to get it back and then it works very well.
    Thank you
    Nancy :)

    Hello

to the old series, it may be that the FL inverter is broken or damaged the tupe of backlight. In both cases, you can see the screen but without backlight!

To differi if it is a hard - or software error, you should start the laptop and ESC immediately to enter the BIOS. Then the machine must be running half an hour in the BIOS. When the rupture occurred it is quite sure that some hardware is broken. Otherwise, it is a software based and a restore with recovery CD Toshiba should solve the problem!

  • Satellite 1800-921-Maximum extension

I have a 1800-921 Satellite running Windows XP. It starts and works fine, but as soon as I put the antivirus software on it slows down to a crawl. I want to improve its performance, but have the recommended Maximum 512 MB system memory. Can I wear this in any way to make the laptop run faster?

The hard drive has been defragmented and 8 of it is 20 GB free.

Is there anything else I can do?

It will be interesting to know what antivirus you have installed on your machine.
In my opinion the best anti-virus is AVIRA antivir. He doesn't need a lot of resources and works perfectly on Windows XP Home edition.

    Back to your question.
I know for sure that the Satellite 1800-911 can be upgraded up to 1 GB of RAM, so I think that your Satellite can be upgraded to 1 GB.

  • Satellite A100-294: what memory should I buy

I have (only) 512 MB of RAM and I need to upgrade. Should what memory I buy? What models, which could be found on the market, I could choose? And do I have to have the same memory, for example. 512 + 512 MB or 1 GB + 1 GB (or even the same producer?) for best performance, working properly, or something? [Please help me, I need to upgrade as soon as POSSIBLE and I could not afford any possible error:]

    Hello

I hope that I will receive some reward you points because I think I can provide useful answers ;)
The laptop seems to be the DDR2 533 MHz (PC2-4200) 200 - PIN SODIMM fragmented into several modules.
You can use these modules from different manufacturers, but in my opinion it s better to buy a module of brand instead of module without name due to the better performance

This site provides a few compatible Kingston modules for Satellite A100-294
    http://www.orcalogic.co.UK/ASP/ProdType.asp?ProdType=24854&ft=m&St=3

You can also mix the modules; I mean, you could use 512 + 1024 or 1024 + 1024 or 512 + 512. All these options are possible

  • Satellite L10-226, what memory inside?

    Hello

I am interested in buying a portable satellite L10-226, but it has only 256 MB of DDR Ram. For this reason I will update the Ram 512 MB DDR - Ram after buying. What memory does Toshiba use for this model (Timings/speed/producer)?
If I get a 512 MB DDR - Ram inside and sell the original 256 MB Modul, is there any warranty issue, if the laptop has a defect or I am authorized to change memory by myself?

    Thanks for your help,

    Kind regards

    BoLzI

    Hello

I can't find any specific details for the L10-226, but I found some information for the L10-224, which has two available RAM slots and uses 1 x 256 MB module or module 1 X 512 MB, leaving 1 spare slot.

If you L10 - 226 has this configuration so your cheapest upgrade would be to add a second 256 MB module to the second slot giving you a total of 512 MB. The module for this is 200-pin PC2700 (333 Mhz) DDR SODIMMreference number PA3311U-1 M 25

The module of 512 MB is PA3312U-1 M 51part number.

The mnodules of RAM are components replaceable by the user so changing them will not affect your warranty at all. However, if your computer is then sevelops a fault with the modules of RAM, then you would not be able to get them has changed under warranty Toshiba, you must return yourself to the vendor from whom you got their.

    I have a Satellite Pro M40 part number: PSM46E-00H002EN

I really want to upgrade the memory, but I don't know what to do.
I know I want two 1 GB ones but I do not know what kind.

I looked and there seems to be so much of.

Could someone tell me exactly what I want or give me a link to buy.
    I would be grateful rerally.

    Hello

I think you should check this page from memory Satellite Pro M40:

Memory for Toshiba Satellite Pro M40
    http://www.orcalogic.co.UK/ASP/ProdType.asp?ProdType=26119&ft=m&St=3

  • Satellite 1800-400, what CPU?

    Hey people,

Just got me a second hand 1800-400, but it is a bit slow. I have stopped more RAM (256) to go with the 128 that is already. I hope this will help.
But I was thinking, what other/faster CPU can this small handful of the machine? I can get a P3 1 GHz cpu on ebay cheap but it the system to run it?

    See you soon
    SYM

    Hello

I looked at some other Satellite 1800 models specifications and discovered that they use different processors. Most of them use Celeron 1.0 GHz and 1.1 GHz, I also found a model with P3 1.0GHz (1800-804). But I think it's using a different chipset, so I don't know if you can use a P3.
Besides I don't think that a little better CPU will increase the performance so much. Upgrading RAM is more effective.

    Good bye
