satellite 4030CDT processor upgrade possible?

Hi all, I'm new to the forum.
I've recently updated:-my ram to 198 mb, latest version of bios and successfully installed a 20 GB hard drive (an archos mini hard drive) and windows xp support.
My problem is I want to play movies dvd (of a playlist file) but POWER DVD requires a higher speed of 300 mhz processor.
Is it POSSIBLE to INSTALL a 360 Mhz CPU in this laptop?
Or use another dvd playback software that works at 300 Mhz?

Thanks in advance.

Hello

It is not possible to upgrade the processor to a laptop, because it is fixed mounted on the motherboard. With ram and hard disk, that you almost updated everything that you can.

About the software, I'm not sure. I think you should try some programs.

Good luck!

    Hello world

    I have a Satellite 2430 402 with P4 2.53 GHz.
Is it possible to change the processor of a more recent/fast (up to 3.4 GHz)?

    Thanks in advance

    Hello

Maybe an other old Intel P4 CPU would work, but you will not be able to upgrade and use newer processors.
Furthermore a stronger CPU would create more heat dissipation and this would lead to a temperature more high which could affect the functionality of the laptop.

So even if a new CPU would be recognized correctly by the BIOS, it might affect the functionality of the laptop.

  • Get the best out of Satellite 1900-803 processor / upgrade possible?

    Hi all

Well, this forum has been great for me up to now, thanks JohnnyS!

I was wondering if there might be someone out there who can help me with the following problem:

When I right click on "My computer" (current running winXPpro) I can't see what follows.

    line 1 * Intel (r)
    line 2 * Pentium (r) 4 CPU 1.70 Ghz
    line 3 * 1.69 Ghz, 768 MB RAM

I guess that the two readings of the CPU speed indicates the maximum speed of the processor (* line 2 *) followed by the actual speed (* line 3 *). If this is the case, can I shake the extra 0.1 Ghz out of it, it is better to it and if the answer to each of these questions is 'yes' then how do I do it?

Secondly, if I wanted to update (/ replace with a slightly faster) processor would be possible?
So how high I can go and where I could get such a thing? Should I be careful?

A big thank you to you experts helping beginners all out.

    Hi friend

How you´re? Good hope, today I give you another clue (which, I hope, could perhaps help you... or not ;)))

Your CPU is already underway to * 1.70* Ghz but windows often displays with a few mhz more or less. If you want to know if your CPU is really clocked 1.70 Ghz then download 'CPU - Z', which is a good reliable tool measures on the CPU.

There should also be a tool that shows the frequency of the processor in real time and you'll see that the frequency of the processor performs constantly at 1.70 Ghz, it s more like a clock generator (which is a CPU) who will * autour * 1.70 Ghz.

Surely, you can try to upgrade, but here in this forum person won't give you instructions or advice. If you want to know what capabilities can check which chipset is installed, and with these specifications, you should be able to know what CPU probably would take it or not. Research a little bit is never bad ;)

    Here´s a useful link (I hope) for you: http://www.irisvista.com/tech/

Otherwise, my advice is to 'never change a market system'

  • Satellite A200 - CPU Upgrade possible?

    Hello

I want to upgrade my CPU.
Currently a T2080 is installed and I would like to install a T7300?

Can someone tell me if this is possible with my motherboard?

The mother Board has the following features:
    Intel 940GML/943GML (Calistoga-GML) + ICH7-M / U
Portable ID model: Satellite A200-1AS (PSAE0E)

Does anyone have a list with all CPU running with this motherboard?

    Thanks for help.

    Hello

Have you read that some threads here in the forum on the CPU upgrade opportunities?
    Do this!

Always is it that upgrading the CPU is not easy for example on desktop computers.
The BIOS is always different and modified by the manufacturers of cell phones.
So even if the chipset allows you to upgrade the CPU, there is a question whether BIOS would deal with this new processor. If these upgrades are always risky.

The laptop uses the Mobile Intel 943GML Chipset

To check what processors are therefore supported by the chipset:
    http://www.Intel.com/assets/PDF/datasheet/309219.PDF

Here on page 30, you can find this:
+ All features supported by Mobile Intel 940GML / GM Express Chipset must be supported.
+ Chipset Intel 943GML Express unless otherwise stated below. +

    _ Support for processor + _
    + Intel® processor A100 and A110 on 90 nm process with 512 KB L2 Cache 400 - MHz +.
+ front side bus (FSB) support +.

Then you should check what are the processors supported by Intel 940GML

  • Satellite L505D - memory upgrade Possible?

    Hi all.

I have laptop Satellite L505D-S5965. It has 3 GB memory DDR2 SDRAM 333 MHz. Specifications are here:
    http://www.CNET.com/laptops/Toshiba-Satellite-L505D-s5965/4507-3121_7-33695859.html

I could install 2 times x 4 GB DDR3 800 MHz in this laptop? My CPU/motherboard support it? Or can I install DDR2 600 Mhz SDRAM?

I saw a couple of laptops same on ebay that had mentioned DDR3.

    I don't know, but the motherboard is probably V000185540. It has a AMD X 2 QL - 65 processors.
CPU info can be found here:
    http://www.CPU-world.com/CPUs/K8/AMD-Athlon%2064%20X2%20QL-65%20-%20AMQL65DAM22GG.html
It is stated that the speed of the bus
333 MHz dual channel DDR2 SDRAM memory controller
One 2000 MHz 16 - bit HyperTransport link
Made it me confused - this is the maximum speed of memory, I can install it?

AMD 780 G with SB700 south bridge chipset is.

Operating system is Windows 7, should be no problem with it.

If someone wants to be able to answer my question, I would appreciate it a lot.

I put t understand why ask you this question?
You have validated the page with specifications and it is said clearly: Max RAM taken in charge: 8 GB
So you can use 2 x 4 GB RAM modules

The speed of the RAM depends on the speed of the front side Bus: care page says: 800 Mhz.
So still fastest of all the RAM would go to 800 Mhz

    > Can't do my CPU/motherboard? Or can I install DDR2 600 Mhz SDRAM?
You cannot mix DDR3 and DDR2. Both are physically different.

  • The Satellite A100 processor upgrade

Supports the Chipset I945PM C2D T7200/400/600 processors based on the Intel site (http://ark.intel.com/chipset.aspx?familyID=22817 - compatible products).
but I can't find any information on the compatibility of the BIOS.

What processors are compatible with the latest version of BIOS for A100?

    Hello

These information are not available on the Toshiba page.
But there are different A100 with different hardware components.
You can check some A100 with different processors, and then you will know what the processors supported for you would be.

But there is a weak kind of risk for all other processors. If you need only test this
But note; stronger central units could affect the functionality of a laptop because of the higher heat dissipation.

It is not easy to find these info, but maybe you can use 10 GB of HARD drive. I don't know about you.
The BIOS update has nothing to do with it and new version of the BIOS is not designed to increase the values of upgrade hardware, but to correct serious problems.

According to the specification of the computer laptop Satellite 2550CDT has Celeron 366 CPU and Satellite 2590CDT Celeron 400. Both processors have the same bus clock I presume that you can upgrade the processor Celeron 400.

With disk HARD is the same. Official statement is 4 GB. You can try to install 10 GB. I have not found information on processors. He is almost 11 portable model and to pick up some info relevant is nothing but mission impossible. ;)

Try to contact the nearest authorized in the hope that they can help, but, to be honest, I'm not sure they're going to waste their time with these oldies.

  • Care about disk HARD of Satellite 4030CDT

    Hello

I own a laptop Satellite 4030CDT. It runs under Windows 98 SE.

I would like to upgrade its default disk (4 or 6 GB, I don't know now) to something bigger, so I can install Linux next to the existing Windows partition.

Can anyone here give me the specs should I look for in a new drive? Thermal or limitation of power, I should look for?
All versions of the BIOS should I put up-to-date? (one of my friends said that if the BIOS is old enough (this computer was purchased around 1999) then it does not take in charge the larger disks).

The two changes I've done with it so far are:
1 update the BIOS to the latest version from last year, to make it possible from the CD.
2 installed 128 MB of additional memory, so now he has 192Mo (as I understand is the maximum possible).

    Thank you

    -Amos

    Hi Amos

You are right on the RAM. For this unit 192 MB of RAM is max.

As much as I know there is not any specification of maximum size of HARD drive that can be used for this device. This kind of solutions providers HDD are competent. Please take a few information on the net and you will find specific information on this subject.

I found on this HARD disk a single seller in my country has 20 GB and 30 GB HARD drive for this model of laptop.

  • Update disk on the Satellite 4030CDT

    Hello!

First "Sorry!" for asking such a stupid question.

I've Googled, manuals, forums, eBay... but nowhere find an answer exactly. I have an old laptop Satellite 4030CDT. I want to change the old 4, 3 GB of hard drive for a bigger to use it as an MP3 player and musicvideo in my bathroom.

Can what type of hard drive (space) I use? Is it possible to use a higher than 40 GB HDD? The latest version of the BIOS is installed but I have found no info on higher disk space. Hope someone could help me.
Thank you and greetings from the Germany
    Micha

    Hello Mich

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to find much info on this old laptop model. According to some info on the net this laptop was designed in 1999 and you must understand that there is not much info on these books.

I don't really know what is the capacity of HARD drive max, that you can use, but if you need it for music I think only 20 or maybe 30 GB should be enough and I hope that the full capacity will be recognized correctly.

20 GB hard drives are more expensive and you can get n eBay for little money. Buy one and test it with your good old classic.

    Bye and good luck!

  • A few questions on its use with the Satellite 4030CDT

I'm not very computer saavy. We have an old satellite 4030cdt. My son wants to use it to access the internet. What should I get to this point? We have the possibility to connect to internet wireless in the House with another laptop. In addition, the screen is not complete on the laptop. How do we get an extension on the screen. We tried to do it via the control panel and settings but us will not change it.

    Hello

Maybe you should first check all the components in the Device Manager and make sure the drivers are installed. It will be interesting to know what operating system is preinstalled on this old notebook. Please let me know.

If I remember well that laptop has no LAN card. Am I right about that? If yes then I recommend to buy the PCMCIA LAN card. Install properly and you can connect to your router and enjoy Internet at full speed.

To be honest, I don't know what you mean with the larger image on the screen. Perhaps you should choose the standard screen resolution lower resolution screen, but on this laptop is 1, 024 x 768 and I think it should be OK.

    Altogether.

Here is a link to the CPU supported by your motherboard and BIOS.  which are compatible.

Pay special attention to the type of socket (775) and wattage of the series (only 65 watts cpu) when you buy the processor upgrade.

You can purchase one from a provider either online or in a real store. There are better business online.

  • The old Inspiron 15r N5010 processor upgrade

    Hello

    I have a Dell Inspiron 15r with the processor - Intel (r) Pentium (r) CPU P6100 @ 2.00GHz and 4 GB of RAM.

I intend to update the RAM and replace the processor if possible. Is there a maximum amount of RAM that can be improved on? And is there a list anywhere of the compatible processors?

I checked on line and know that if its an i-processor, then there must be a first gen one. Must be an individual or one of the i3 - i7 will be?

    Thank you

The system will have up to 8 G of RAM SODIMM 2X4G.

The system uses a first generation processor and come with up to i7 CPU - keep to the 45W or lower PDT UC (not 55W units) and the Core processors first generation and the upgrade should work.
