Satellite 650 d - WiFi drags on the home network

I have a Satellite 650 d Windows 7 64-bit on a home network - there are two other (non-Toshiba) computers on the home network as well (both run W7 - 64-bit, 32-bit)

Last week, when I turn on the Toshiba WiFi, it will drag down the overall speed the network about 10 MB less than 2 MB on download - and 2 MB less than 0.2 MB download. When I turn off the WiFi on the Toshiba, the network takes right to the top.

I wonder if anyone has experienced this problem - and if so, what are some of the problems potential I should look for to try to solve it?

I already tried updating drivers wireless on Toshiba site - with no difficulty on this end... so looking for other opportunities to meditate

Hi crazyhorse_1,

What laptop Satellite you have exactly? Is it Satellite C650D, L650D or what exactly?

As you can see here in the forum issues wireless are hundreds of discussions on the problems of WIFI and I believe that you can find an answer in the other threads. I did a search of the forum and found some interesting discussions like these ones:

  • HP Deskjet 3830: Printer connected by wireless worked well until someone joined the home network - looking for password now!

I created my HP Deskjet 3830 yesterday and it worked on wireless connection. At no time was I asked a network security key.

A colleague joined today to the home network (yesterday I was myself), and requested a key security network - to my surprise I was so.

I put my wireless network password, and he says that it is evil. I used HP Print and Scan doctor to confirm the password (I guess that's the same thing as a "security key" - it was OK, but I keep being told it's wrong.)

It is porrible that it is because my setup yesterday wasn't network but without straight wire? Or want to say I'm wrong?

Other: since yesterday I have not changed anything or even restarted.

Reset the printer to the default network. Now plug it back to your routers SSID with password. Try now. If Direct wireless is enabled in the printer, turn it off.

Did you the latest changes on the system?

You can try to temporarily disable third-party antivirus software and firewall installed on your computer and check if the problem persists. If the problem is resolved, you will need to uninstall the software and reinstall it back or change the settings and check.

Note: Be sure to enable the security software on the computer after checking.

  • I don't want to be on the home network

I rent a room that I am allowed to use wireless Internet. However, there is a new roommate in the House that has set up a home network who understand me. I won't be on the home network. Is this possible? and how?

I have laptop with Windows Vista, manufacturer - Hewlett-Packard. It's a laptop Compaq Presario F700, processor - AMD Turion (tm) 64 x 2 Mobile Technology TL-58 1.90 GB. I chose the Public network through the network and sharing Center.

As I am on home network, I have to go through his computer. I saw that clearly on the map of connection through the network and sharing Center window. The path is the Internet of his computer, his computer to the device and Internet gateway device of Internet gateway on my computer. When it is off, the path is directly from the Internet to my computer.

Based on the Help window, if I understand correctly, the only way is that it disable ICS (Internet Connection in), but he won't do that. He wouldn't even talk to me. It enabled ICS not to mention me and by this law introduced me to be in his home network. I want to just connect directly to the Internet as the way he did before he came to the House.

  • ICF on Windows 7: how to change the location of the home network be connected?

Windows on Windows 7 firewall - ' Home or work (private) networks are not connected and 'Public networks' are connected. This prevents the PC to be seen on my home network.

How can I change the location of the home network be connected?
I have internet access but cannot connect to a network.

Go to "Network and sharing Center" > click on "Customize" > change the location of the 'Public', 'private '.

    Edit
Sorry the above is garbage, I was on mode vista.

Try, 'network and sharing Center' in the section 'Show your active networks' - it can show 'Public network' or 'work '. If, so click on the one which is indicated and select "home network".

    Note:
If the other PC on your network are Win XP you can change the name of working group of win7 in "MSHOME".
IE "network and sharing Center" > click on the arrow down to the network discovery > change settings > tab computer name > change.

  • The computers on the home network can't see the other

    Hello

Portable Windows 7 Ultimate my two computers cannot see each other on the home network. Both have their firewall off the coast. We have McAfee installed (but disabled). I can't ping or computers. Both are on the same workgroup. Both are on the home network. Both have their network discovery is enabled. Both have active LLTD protocols.

A computer cannot find homegroup on the other computer. I tried both ways. All important services are successfully started and running. No problems with network connectivity to the internet. I can ping sites like google.com and yahoo.com. I can't just ping the other laptop on the network. Any ideas?

    Thank you

    SS

FYI: I have UltraVNC running on both computers. However, the program does not work b/c computers can't see each other. I also have LogMeIn installed on both. This works because logmein works via the internet.

Hope that you have found your answer now. I had the same problem and mine was the computers have been appointed the same you have he tried but if not try this:

    ·        Step 1) on your keyboard, press the 'key Windows and pause pause' to bring up the 'System Menu'.

Step 2) when the "System menu" appears on the lower right, click "change settings"

Step 3) click on "change" on the "System Properties".

Step 4) Change the 'computer name' (must be DIFFERENT! to other computers)

Step 5) press "ok" (you will get a pop up just press ok)

Properties of step 6) on systems ""change "" the ""computer name " the same as the one on (step 4)"

Step 7) click on ""okay ' and let the computer to restart (If it does not restart just disconnect and reconnect) "

Follow these steps and you shouldn't have a problem.

  • Transfers of extremely slow files on the home network 802.11 g

    Hello

I have a home network with only two devices (more the router) on this subject.  The first is a portable computer, the second is a desktop PC / multimedia.

My problem is that when I try to transfer a file from one computer to another, the transfer is terribly slow (for example, a 200 MB file will take 30 minutes).  I know that we cannot wait to be as fast as advertised wireless transfer rates by the manufacturer, but 100 kb/s is just too slow - especially when you consider that I can download files from the internet (on the home network, through the same router) to > 600 kb / s.  So, while I am very confused of what could be the problem, I'm pretty of course it is not a question of signal strength (and leaning me more towards a PC issue rather than a router problem).
I looked online and saw people suggests to disable remote differential Compression and WIndows meeting space (which I did on both computers) - but my problem persists.

Someone at - it any other suggestions?

    Thank you!
