Satellite A100 - 003 WLAN (with WPA - PSK) connection timeout

I have a laptop Satellite A100-003 with preinstalled in Windows Vista.
When I try to connect to my router with WPA - PSK (TKIP) I have error:
Wireless authentication failed because of a time-out.
My laptop and the router configured properly! I installed the new drivers intel 3945ABG chip.
WPA2-PSK and WEP are working very well.

Hello

The same thing happened on my old laptop.
I was not able to establish the WiFi connection for more than 1 min with WPA encryption.
I downloaded the latest Atheros driver and updated everything.
Everything works very well with WEP but not WPA.

Then I disabled the option to clean Windows configuration and use the Atheros utility. Now everything works fine!
I recommend using the Intel Proset utility and check all the possible settings!

I think that this could be a problem with the option to save energy.
You can check in the power of Vista management, there is an option for the wireless network adapter.

  • Satellite A100 - 003 PSAARE - information necessary Ram upgrade

    Hello

    I have a Satellite A100-003 (PSAARE) with 32-bit Vista installed and 2 GB of RAM (1024 + 1024 DDR2 533 MHz).
I was wondering if it is possible to change the 1 RAM (1024MB) with this RAM: 2 GB DDR2 667 MHz?
Support page says that this laptop supports up to 4 GB of RAM total.

    Thank you in advance.

    Hello

Generally this information in the user manual it s always mentioned in the manual that is preinstalled on your laptop.

I downloaded the manual on the Toshiba page and found this:
    Slots _Memory: _
+ PC4200 256 MB or 512 MB or 1024 MB modules of memory can be installed in the locations of two memory for a max memory 2048 MB system. +

    _Memory expansion; _
Only the memory modules with the number of following parts can be installed:
    256 MB PA338QU - 1 M 25
    512 MB PA3412U - 1 M 51
    1 GB-PA3411U-1M1G

By the way; the 32 bit OS Vista won't recognize the 4 GB of RAM due to the limitation of the 32-bit operating system. The 32-bit OS can handle max 3.2 GB.

  • Can satellite A100-003 - I install Windows 7 32-bit or 64-bit?

    Hello everyone,

I have the Satellite A100-003 and I've been running it with Windows XP since I it (triple). Now I want to install Windows 7 on it, however, I'm confused about what can I install on it.

I have a few places on the Toshiba site, I found that I can install Windows 7 (32 and 64 bit), but I can met some problems with the BIOS, in other places, I tried but could not find the drivers for Windows 7 64 bit.

So what is the case? My first goal is to install windows 7 64 bit, because I have 4 GB of RAM on my laptop, but even the 32 bit would be a better choice than XP right now.
So I can install Windows 7 64 bit on my laptop?

Thanks in advance for any answer!

    Hello

Important before installing another OS, you check the Toshiba driver download page. Satellite A100-003 belongs to the PSAARE series and is therefore not available for Windows 7 drivers. You can only get the drivers for Windows XP and Vista 32 bit.

This means that you can try to install Windows 7 because Vista drivers most also work on Windows 7.
If this isn't the case you find newer drivers yourself, maybe you can find something.

    Hello

    I have a Satellite A100-003 (PSAARE) Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit installed and 2 GB of RAM (1024 + 1024 DDR2 533 MHz).

I want to improve my system with 2x2gb DDR2 667 MHz Ram.
When I use 2x2gb Rams, my system recognizes them?
Or he will recognize less than 4 GB?

Is there a link between the ram and 32 bit OS?
    What are your suggestions?

    Thank you.

    > When I use 2x2gb Rams, my system recognizes them?
    > Or it will recognize less than 4 GB

You use the 32-bit Windows System. This means that your Windows operating system can recognize 3.2 GB of RAM max. It's max possible RAM for 32-bit systems.

But as far as I know that it takes in charge max 2 GB of RAM. Has been mentioned in the page manual user 22 and 33

Satellite A100-003 is a part of the PSAARE series. I visited the page European driver of Toshiba, but I found only the acoustic silence, help them and the driver sound
Other XP drivers are not available.

  • Satellite A100-003: Question about RAM and recording model number

    Dear Sir/Madam,

    1. the first problem is that I bought the notebook of Toshiba Satellite A100-003 model. But when I tried to save the European web site of Toshiba with my serial number it says Satellite A100-011. I do not understand what it means that. But I do not know my phone model A100-003-PSAARE-0470257Z. The serial number of my laptop is: 17739127G

    2. Another problem is the European website of Toshiba and Turkey Toshiba official site (http://www.toshibatr.com/notebook_filter.asp?ktg=A100) says Rams are 533 MHz "2 048 (1, 024 + 1, 024) MB of RAM DDR2 (533 MHz)"but mine is at 266 MHz. "

    Hello

First of all your registration number is not a 'problem '. Maybe it s just a small mistake in their database. When I registered my P200 registration reported me another type as mine was, but after a call to the hotline of toshiba told me, that my machine is listed correctly in the database.
Don t worry, register just she.

    With regard to the RAM:

Do you know why's called it 'DDR' ram? That means 'RAM memory' and the goal is to double the frontsidebus.

In your case, that means: the REAL AND PHYSICAL frontsidebus is 266 Mhz, but because the flow is double you have a 533 MHz frontsidebus (532, 34.Mhz).
CPU - Z and WCPUID are simply display the physical clock of the RAM, but the frontsidebus double the signal and then you pure and authentic to 533 MHZ.

I hope I could explain something to you. ;)

    Have a nice weekend

  • Satellite A100 - 003 (PSAARE) - disk HARD help upgrade

    Hello

I have a Satellite A100-003 (PSAARE) Windows 7 Home Premium 32 - bit installed and 3 GB of RAM 667 MHz.
I want to spend my hard drive. But I don't know which model is most suitable for my computer.

There are two options: 7200 rpm or 5400 RPM HARD drive.
What are the advantages and disadvantages of this type of hard drives?

If I buy a 7200 RPM HARD drive, do I have a problem with the heat and noise?
If you can give me some names of HARD drive model that you suggest, it will be better for me.

    Thank you.

    > There are two options: 7200 rpm or 5400 RPM HARD drive.
    > What are the advantages and disadvantages of this type of hard drives?
The 7200 RPM drive is faster than the or 5400 RPM HARD drive. This allows read and write faster data on the HARD drive, but to be honest; in most cases, this difference is not noticeable

    > If I buy a 7200 RPM HARD drive, do I have a problem with the heat and noise?
No, normally you should not get any problem the two type of HARD drive are compatible with laptops

    > If you can give me some names of HARD drive model that you suggest, it will be better for me.
To be honest, you can use any HARD SATA 2.5 drive. The SATA controller is not limited to a capacity of HARD drive that you can take any disk of your choice

  • WPA - PSK connection problem

My new HP mini can connect to my router, if she has no protection.  When I got to the shelter with WPA - PSK and I put the password and everything, my mini HP cannot connect.  All parameters are good, so I don't know what could be the problem...  The router name when I look for an internet connection, but it will not just connect - and it does not give an error message.  I know the router is working, because my desktop computer can connect to it very well.  You simply suggests having the router with no protection, but I do not exactly as if other people use, it's going slowly.

Any suggestion or help or anything that could possibly solve my problem would be greatly appreciated (and the real problem is that I want to connect my computer HP mini to the router when the router has some sort of protection, which must not be WPA - PSK)

    Thank you.

Well, I said to my brother (very good with computers) on the problem, and he said that it was the operating system, and whether you have reinstall windows XP or get Ubuntu.  I ended up getting ubuntu that I didn't have a CD Player for the HP mini.  Now he can connect to WPA and it works fine.  So I think that my brother was it's the operating system.

I hope this info helps people!

P.S. - If you get Ubuntu, it runs 10 times faster, and it supports a large number of windows aps - this is my first time using Ubuntu and it RULES!

If you don't know how to get ubuntu top, follow this-

    http://www.Ubuntu.com/getubuntu/download

I like it much more, because you can't get adware - literally, as ubuntu works aps .exe (although with a program called wine)

  • Additional package for Satellite A100-003

I have a Satellite A100-003 and I just installed vista 64-bit, which is the correct for toshiba value added package, because I get an error at the end of the installation. Thank you

First of all the buddy I wonder about your first message.
    You said;
    > I just installed vista 64-bit, which is the correct version for Toshiba package extra

I visited the Toshiba European page and I didn t find drivers for Vista 64 bit and VAP for Satellite A100 - 003 PSAARE.

Because of this, I DON T wonder that you receive error messages.
The error messages appear because you use wrong and NOT compatible software.

    You have updated the BIOS?
OK, this grand but the BIOS is designed for Vista 32 bit and not 64 bit.
So it s no matter if the BIOS has been updated or not.

So he just said; Don t install the VAP for Vista 32 bit on 64 bit Vista version

    Good bye

  • Satellite A100-003: Questions on keyboard

    Two questions:

    1. What is the product of my keyboard type and computers laptop Toshiba have the same?

    2. can I have my extra keyboard buttons in a Linux system? (Ubuntu 7.10 Gutsy Gibbon)

    (1) the satellite A100 was equipped with a keyboard that supports 86 keys; 2 Windows keys and 1 shortcut key.
Seems that the A100 series was equipped with this keyboard

    (2) I assume you mean the keys FN and Toshiba control buttons.
Well, if you want to use these buttons, you will need a compatible driver from Toshiba.
The fact is that Toshiba doesn't support Linux and doesn't provide drivers for Linux distribution. This is why you will not be able to use these keys running Linux.

    Good bye

  • Re: Satellite A100-003 - need of Windows Vista 64-bit drivers

I want to upgrade my OS to Vista 64-bit, but I can't find it anywhere
I want the functions to work such as media buttons (stop, play,... etc.)
I got my cell phone as a gift from the Middle East, and now I'm having hard to upgrade

    This is the Satellite A100-003

    Any suggestions?

If the European driver of Toshiba page doesn t provide the driver 64 bit Vista for this laptop, then you have some many other opportunities to visit some 3rd Web sites and collect only drivers to clean hands.

    Good luck

  • Satellite P100-160 refuses to connect to my router 3Com with WPA - PSK

Help! My new laptop Toshiba refuses to connect to my router 3Com (f/w 2.06T13) model 3cWDR100A on WPA - PSK. The router only supports TKIP (no AES).

The laptop, a Satellite P100-160 is under Vista Home Premium with the latest Intel 3945 11.5.0.32 driver and I tried the version of the site Web of Toshiba version mentioned in other threads (and a few other versions also).

Either way, I don't like latest driver hit with content identical binary files and different date stamps or running of the anonymous installers that have not been digitally signed.

The problem is that non-encrypted, or WEP works perfectly, but WPA - PSK is not. It fails with a diagnostic message 'timeout for secondary keys. The thing will be very occasionally connect to the network without a timeout (before I tried to improve things with the last pilot about 1 in 20 attempts after a reboot, now it comes rather from 1 to 100). If I can be sure that the password is correct. When it connects everything is fine and stable with excellent signal until the first suspended and then the connection is lost. It's more than a little irritating.

I see several topics of doom similar networks to Vista support groups. They all seem to hinge around WPA - PSK TKIP and WiFi Intel chipset x 945 in combination with certain models of router. Please can anyone help solve this mess?

I've seen other threads of networking in Vista by users with this specific Intel chipset and my router model having exactly the same problem and so far nobody has found a solution. I checked the basics of knowledge (MS & 3Com) and tried a few plausible fixes, but nothing helped. I'm out of ideas.

It seems a little absurd to demote network security to make the latest PC works correctly. Dumping Vista (however tempting) is not an option.

Thanks for any suggestions or diagnostics.

    Kind regards
    Martin Brown

    Hello Martin

As you can see this is not Toshiba specific stuff and if there is no 'global solution' I don't really know what Toshiba should do about it. As you all know it should support hardware and software (driver), but if not I don't really see a solution for this.
Who should offer a solution? Toshiba or Intel?  :|

  • Satellite A100-003 - card PRO/100 ethernet only work at 10 Mbit/s/s

    Hello!

Several days back, something is passed to the network card * Intel(r) PRO/100 VE Network Connection * and now inaccessible in some State of work.
Networking possible only in mode: 10 s/Mbps (Half Duplex) and 10 Mbit/s/s (Full Duplex).

While in mode + 100 Mbit/s / s (Half Duplex), 100 Mbps / s (Full Duplex), Auto Negotiate + - completely the connection errors. The Test of the cable passes. Checked with another computer - all the work ordered. So, is obtained, card problem... Reinstall the drivers and updated connections tried, drivers (OS Vista Home Premium).

Is it possible to do something?

    First question:
Do you use the preinstalled Toshiba OS image?

    Second question;
How did you test the network adapter and the speed? Did you use utilities and programs making authorities?

The A100-003 belongs to the PSAAR series. Please note that the page of the Toshiba driver does not provide a special LAN Vista driver. Seems that the Lan card uses the own driver that was included in the Vista operating system.

I would recommend to access the properties of the LAN card driver.
This can be done in the Device Manager. There you can check if the options in the Advanced tab has been updated with the correct settings. For example, the option called optimum performance must be on Enable.

    Good bye

  • Satellite A100-570 slow downs the wide connection band

I have a laptop Satellite A100-570. I bought this in July antiques.

Just open the laptop, not even connect to the internet it manages reduce my speed on broadband.
I know this because I'm doing a test of speed before and after the opening of the laptop using my PC.

Computer laptop & PC are not yet in the same room!
The wireless network connection is disabled, disabled 1394 connection and only LAN OK.
(I use a BT Homehub, connected to my PC).

My question is: how a laptop computer that is not on the internet brings to BB speeds.
    the laptop is o.k. otherwise.

    Any help appreciated.

To be honest, the whole story is a little understandable and strange for me.
Your laptop is connected to the router with a LAN cable or what?

Sorry but I don't quite understand you. What is the speed with and without a cell phone?

By the way: did you clean install of the OS before you start using this laptop?
